Actually, I wrote much of this in the past few weeks and posted in separate articles. I just pulled it together and updated it for Alternet who published it this morning. I was surprised to see that Media Matters had a similar story on the same day.

As for Ailes & Co…They recognize that they can’t just keep beating up Latinos and expect them to stick around as readers or voters. So it serves their purpose to engage in this sort of pander, but to keep it apart from the rest of their audience.

Mark: this is an excellent, thorough adjunct to the MM item, or is it the other way around? While FOX may pull off fooling some Latinos into considering it a “fair and balanced” enterprise, I do wonder how Ailes and co. figure the strategy culminates in Republican voters. In other words, by presenting straight stories, don’t they undermine their attempt to propagandize Latinos into seeing things from a conservative perspective?
