The Biden-Harris Campaign Brilliantly Exposes Republican Hypocrisy on the Border Bill

Republicans in Congress are working furiously to establish their reputation for being the most partisan and inept assembly of legislators in modern times. And to their credit, they are doing a stellar job of achieving that goal.

Donald Trump, Immigrant, Child

In the year since they assumed their razor thin majority in the House of Representatives, the GOP has managed to pass a measly twenty bills, most of which have little to no impact on the lives the American people. Instead, they focused intently on ousting their own Speaker, Kevin McCarthy (who it took them 15 votes to elect), and then spent three weeks to select his replacement, Mike Johnson an unknown backbencher with dubious credentials. Having achieved those tasks, they set their eyes on multiple bogus impeachment inquires and smear campaigns.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

The latest clown show antics of the newly christened Trump MAGA GOP (Groveling Obedient Peons) sees them obstructing the passage of immigration legislation that they were previously begging for Democrats to support. But after a bipartisan group of Senators gave them precisely what they said they wanted, they turned tail and ran. That’s because Dear Leader Trump ordered them to abandon the bill in order to preserve the problems on the border so that he can blame them on President Biden.

Well, the Biden-Harris campaign isn’t playing along. On Wednesday morning they posted a thread on Twitter that exposed the flaming hypocrisy of Trump and his MAGA minions with evidence in their own words. The brutal and truthful takedown begins with a tweet showing Trump’s duplicity, and includes the following from his loyal cult comrades…

Donald Trump lying that “the only way to properly secure the border is with a bill from Congress.” Followed by Trump saying that “America doesn’t ‘need a bill, frankly’ to secure the border.”

Mike Johnson lying that “passing legislation to secure the border is a ‘top priority.'” Followed by Johnson saying that “‘there’s no way we could’ even vote on the bipartisan bill to secure the border after Trump told him not to.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene lying that “passing legislation to secure the border ‘should be the priority'” Followed by Greene saying that she “’could care less’ about the bipartisan bill to secure the border and that it’s ‘dead on arrival'”

Steve Scalise lying that “America ‘deserves’ Congress to pass a bill to secure the border.” Followed by Scalise saying that “the bipartisan bill to secure the border is ‘dead on arrival.'”

Jim Jordan lying that “‘we’ve gotta’ pass a bill to secure the border.” Followed by Jordan saying that “the bipartisan bill to secure the border ‘shouldn’t even be brought to the House floor.'”

Ted Cruz lying that “the border is ‘a crisis at a level we have never seen before.'” Followed by Cruz saying that “‘we don’t need’ the bipartisan bill to secure the border.'”

Josh Hawley lying that Congress needs to “secure our border.” Followed by Hawley saying that the bipartisan bill to secure the border “should be dead.”

Ron Johnson lying that securing the border “should be” Congress’ “top priority.” Followed by Hawley saying that passing the bipartisan bill to secure the border is “worse than passing nothing.”

Rick Scott lying that “nothing” else should “get passed” before Congress secures the border. Followed by Scott saying that “we don’t” need the bipartisan bill to secure the border.

That’s a damning indictment of the GOP’s shameless sophistry. They couldn’t care less about the border or resolving any issues with immigration. They only want to weaponize what they call a “crisis” for their political gain. And despite their caterwauling, they want you to forget that they passed their own ultra partisan border bill (HR 2, Secure the Border Act of 2023) last year. But now, according to their own rhetoric, they consider that a waste of time that did nothing and wasn’t needed.

What’s more, Republican Rep. Chip Roy delivered a searing condemnation of Trump and his own GOP colleagues on the House floor about the false Republican talking point that any president could close the border whenever they want and legislation isn’t necessary. He said that…

“I saw former president Trump make that allegation earlier today on one of his social media posts. All a president has to do is declare the border is closed, and it’s closed. Well, with all due respect, that didn’t happen in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. There were millions that came in during those four years.”

President Biden addressed this mess on Tuesday in speech to the nation that spelled out the failure and dishonesty of the Republicans in Congress who were torpedoing the bipartisan border bill. He correctly observed that “the MAGA Republicans said ‘No,’ because they’re afraid of Donald Trump.” then he elaborated saying that…

“If the bill fails, I want to be absolutely clear about something. The American people are going to know why it fails. I’ll be taking this issue to the country… the American people are going to know the reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump.”

From here on out the Republicans own the border and whatever problems they say are occurring there. They refuse to participate in a solution because they are only interested in having a political cudgel with which to hammer their opponents. And they are hoping that the American people are too stupid to catch on. However, with the exception of the minority of MAGA cultists, they are going to be sorely disappointed to learn that the nation is smarter than they think.

GOP LAW? Committee Chair Says If Hunter Biden Doesn’t Testify, He Will ‘Assume’ He’s Guilty

When Republicans in the House of Representatives initiated their smear campaign against Hunter Biden, they knew that it was a political scam intended only to harm President Biden by manufacturing an election year scandal that was utterly devoid of substance. But could they possibly have known what a farce it would turn out to be?

Click here to Tweet this article

Republicans burning the Constitution

After a year of posturing and lying, the “investigation” by the GOP has not produced a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by the President. To the contrary, their own witnesses have testified under oath that Hunter and his father never discussed any business or other activities that could be considered suspicious, much less illegal. The Republican chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan recently told Fox News that his best evidence against Biden was a witness who exonerated him. And even Fox News was already having a difficult time advancing the phony charges.

SEE THIS: WHOA! Peter Doocy of Fox News Reports that the GOP Failed to Find Any Evidence to Impeach Biden

As their campaign of lies and innuendo proceeds, it is getting even more preposterous. So much so that the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, just told CNN’s Manu Raju that he has essentially abandoned all adherence to legal principles, including those enshrined in the Constitution.

Raju sought to get a comment from Comer regarding the stalemate between Comer’s committee and Hunter Biden over a subpoena they issued to demand Hunter’s appearance for a deposition. Hunter had initially agreed to testify before Congress in a public hearing, but then Comer withdrew the offer and insisted that it be done behind closed doors. Presumably so they could lie about it, as they have done after previous private depositions. Here is what Comer told CNN:

Raju: If Hunter doesn’t show up and testify, how much harder will that make your investigation to pin anything on the President?
Comer: Well, I mean, if he doesn’t show up, then I guess we’ll just have to wrap it up without him and assume that these were bribes from foreign countries. Assume that what the bank said was true, he was money laundering, he was involved in the human trafficking ring.

And there you have it. Comer and the GOP are going to declare Hunter Biden guilty without a trial, without evidence, and without any fair deliberation. He is simply going to “convict” Hunter based on his overtly partisan assumptions. Whatever happened to the “presumption of innocence,” and being innocent until proven guilty? Republicans keep demonstrating that they couldn’t care less about the law or the Constitution.

What’s more, Comer is making up allegations, that he’s attributing to a bank, about Hunter Biden being involved with bribes, money laundering, and a human trafficking ring. None of that happened, nor did any bank say it did, and Comer knows it.

In addition to the remarks Comer made in the video clip above, he also gave Raju a few other comments that are purposefully dishonest and intended to tarnish both Hunter and President Biden. As reported by CNN

“I would vote to impeach him, but I’m not going to lose any sleep whether he gets impeached or not because we know the Senate’s not going to convict,” Comer said of the Democratic-controlled Senate. He insisted: “My job was never to impeach.”

Comer is saying both that it wasn’t his job to impeach Biden, but that he would do it anyway, despite having zero evidence. Then he said…

“We are prepared to issue subpoenas compelling Mr. Biden’s appearance at a deposition on a new date in the coming weeks” Comer wrote to Lowell.

Comer appears to be agreeing to Hunter’s request for a new subpoena for the private deposition. That should eliminate his threat to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress for not complying. But with these Republicans, who knows? They sure haven’t cared that fellow Republican members of Congress like Jim Jordan have failed to comply with subpoenas. Then Comer criticized public hearings saying that…

“The hearing for the media would be more entertainment than substantive,” Comer said. “The deposition is substantive.”

So Comer is, in effect, admitting that all of the public hearings he has previously held were merely for “entertainment” purposes. Funny, he didn’t disclose that at the time.

This is all just more proof that Republicans can’t be taken seriously. They are flagrantly dishonest and obsessively pushing falsehoods in order to malign Biden, and to pave the road ahead for their Dear Leader, Donald Trump. This is not just conventional politicking. It is malicious propaganda and anti-American. And that is, sadly, what the Republican Party has become in the Era of Trump.

Fox News Anchor Wants Hunter Biden Arrested For Not Showing Up to the Hearing He Showed Up For

The 2024 election cycle may go down in history as the first Reality TV version of American democracy. That is due in no small part to the emergence of Donald Trump, the former Reality TV game show host who, by a fluke of the fatally flawed Electoral College, stumbled into the White House and has since refused to accept that he was emphatically evicted.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

The melodramas that have ensued in the aftermath of Trump’s MAGA movement are strikingly similar to the corny contrivances that were featured on many of the television farces that pretended to be “real.” And the most preposterous plots have been played out by Republicans in Congress who are so incompetent that they think that their flagrant fictionalizations of governing might actually pass for the real thing.

FOR INSTANCE: Jim Jordan Tells Fox News that His Best Evidence Against Biden is a Witness Who Exonerated Him

In the latest episode of “The Real Louse Hives of Congress,” Republicans are seen staging a bitterly partisan hearing aimed at smearing President Biden and his family. House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, presided over the panel as it considered whether to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena.

For the record, Hunter did accept the Committee’s original request to appear for questioning in a public session. But then Comer reneged and insisted that a deposition be given behind closed doors. The only plausible reason for that change was so the GOP could spread lies about what occurred in the media before any transcripts were available.

SEE THIS: GOP and Fox News Oppose Public Testimony By Hunter Biden Because Then They Can’t Lie About It

However, a funny thing happened on the way to the GOP’s circus. Hunter Biden sauntered into the hearing room and took a seat behind the witness table. His appearance created quite a stir among the Republican members, who weren’t particularly happy to see the target of their smear campaign confidently confront them as they conspired to slap a phony contempt charge on him.

Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz, challenged the nervous GOP members to take advantage of this opportunity and invite Hunter to take their questions right on the spot. They declined. Moskowitz also entered into the congressional record the subpoenas of several Republicans (Scott Perry, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, & Kevin McCarthy) who all failed to comply with lawful subpoenas, but whom the GOP was not seeking to hold in contempt.

Naturally, The Republican’s Ministry of Disinformation, aka Fox News, stepped up to bolster the false narrative that Hunter was noncompliant. Fox News host, Harris Faulkner, interviewed a former assistant district attorney, Phil Holloway, and led with her suggestion that Hunter should be immediately placed under arrest. She did not get the response that she was likely hoping for.

Faulkner: Can they go arrest him at this point? As one of the congress-people called for, I believe it was Nancy Mace today?
Holloway: Yeah. I don’t know of any mechanism to do that. There’s no rush for…
Faulkner: For bucking the subpoena. They can’t go get him?
Holloway: Yeah. I mean, you gotta have, see the committee, it’s not like a court where if he shows – if you don’t show up for court, the judge can issue a warrant for failure to appear and send law enforcement to bring you in in handcuffs. Whether they have such a process, I don’t know, but, I think they’ve got to go through the subpoena process and excuse me, the the contempt process first.

Faulkner’s hunger for Hunter to be arrested was ludicrous. For one thing, he had not even been held in contempt at that point. Plus, why would they have to “go get him” when he was sitting right there, ready to be questioned?

The on-screen graphics that Fox News displayed were also notable. One said “Hunter Fled Contempt Hearing Amid GOP Questioning.” Of course, the news was that Hunter came at all. He stayed awhile to make his point, then calmly departed. The other chyron read “Hunter Crashes His Own Hearing in Shocking Stunt.” Which is especially ironic considering that the entire Republican hearing is what was actually the “shocking stunt.”

In the end, Republicans proved once again that they are hypocrites and cowards. They have no interest in having an honest inquiry. They are only interested in causing harm to their political foes. They have even admitted it publicly.

Jim Jordan Tells Fox News that His Best Evidence Against Biden is a Witness Who Exonerated Him

One week into the new year and it is clear that the Republican Party remains hell bent on continuing their desperate and baseless pursuit of pseudo-scandals with which to smear President Biden and his family. They still seem to be mired in the delusion that the American people are hungering for their representatives in Congress to be working on meritless impeachments, rather than legislative initiatives that might actually improve their lives.

Jim Jordan

To that end, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Perv) visited with Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, for a little chitchat about his efforts as chair of the House Judiciary Committee to impeach Biden. Never mind that he’s been doing this for a year now, but has failed utterly to produce any evidence, or even a coherent argument, that would justify his shamelessly partisan waste of time and taxpayer money. Instead, he and his GOP confederates have set a modern day record for laziness in legislating.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

The segment began with Bartiromo constructing a convoluted question that was rife with preconception and presumptions of guilt. That led to the following exchange…

Bartiromo: Give us your sense of what the most the damning evidence is that you have so far on Joe Biden regarding bribery potential, money laundering. These are the terms that you and your colleagues have been using. Where is the evidence, and do you believe you’re going to find more from these depositions by the end of January?
Jordan: I do, to the last question. I think the most damning evidence thus far is what we got from Devon Archer.

That’s an astonishing admission on Jordan’s part. Because when Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, testified before Congress, he completely contradicted everything that the Republican shills have alleged for years.

Archer testified, under oath, that Biden never discussed any business dealings or interests with Hunter Biden or anyone else. He said that he knew nothing about alleged bribes paid to the Biden family. He refuted charges that Biden sought to oust a Ukrainian prosecutor in order to benefit his son.

In short, the witness that Jordan claims provided his best evidence against Biden, actually exonerates him of every charge that the Republicans have used to slander the President. And when Jordan’s accomplice in this political character assassination, James Comer, chair of the Oversight Committee, was asked on Fox News if would be able to prove his allegations against Biden, he replied “I sure hope so.” Which is a long ways from “Yes.”

SEE ALSO: YES OR NO? GOP Biden Basher Can’t Answer Hannity’s Question About Bogus Bribery Allegations

In addition to the humiliating performance of Jordan above, he also discussed with Bartiromo the matter of Hunter Biden’s alleged failure to comply with a congressional subpoena. The truth is that Hunter did try to comply with the original request to testify in a public hearing. But when Republicans later reneged and insisted that he be deposed in a closed session, Hunter reiterated his agreement to testify publicly.

That dispute led to Republicans declaring their intention to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress. Which is hypocrisy on a grand scale considering that Jordan himself failed to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6th Committee.

Jordan’s blatant act of contempt has now gone on for more than year and a half. Yet Jordan still has the gall to complain about the Hunter subpoena on Fox News, who lies about it. Which just goes to prove that the best words to describe Fox News and the Republican party are “lies,” “hypocrisy” and “contempt.”

GOP Scandal Mongers Float a Wild New Impeachment Charge Against Biden for Talking to his Son

The Republican Party is clearly suffering from severe and debilitating delusions about President Biden. They are freakishly fixated on their bizarre and wholly unwarranted determination to implicate him for some (any) crime and to remove him office for whatever imaginary offense they manufacture.

Click here to Tweet this article

Joe Biden, GOP, Elephant

Republicans have held their razor-thin (and shrinking) majority in the House of Representatives for nearly a year now. And in that time they have fanatically focused on their depraved Biden obsession to the exclusion of everything else, including avoiding a debt ceiling default, funding the government, supporting allies in Israel and Ukraine, reforming immigration policy, and much more. Their BCD (Biden Compulsive Disorder) has resulted in the House breaking the modern records for inactivity and ineptitude.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

The latest fabrication from the GOP Bullsh*t Factory is a real doozy. A couple of weeks ago Hunter Biden spoke on the steps of the Capitol to inform Republicans that he was ready to testify before their committee in public hearings. But the GOP committee chairs, Jim Jordan and James Comer, refused, insisting that he be deposed behind closed doors.

The GOP’s position is predictable considering how badly they have been humiliated in their previous public hearings. Their own witnesses testified that President Biden had done nothing wrong. They only want to conduct future hearings in private so that they can lie about it afterward. And now that Hunter has called their bluff, they are inventing new allegations that make no sense at all. As reported by The Hill…

“House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are suggesting that President Biden may have ‘engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress’ if he knew that his son Hunter Biden planned to defy a congressional subpoena […] and said it ‘could constitute an impeachable offense.'”

WTF? This charge boils down to the GOP asserting that Biden can be impeached for the high crime of talking to his son. There is absolutely no constitutional prohibition of presidents discussing things that their children might tell reporters about pending litigation. It would be different if Biden were interfering with the Justice Department, but there is no hint of evidence of anything remotely approaching that.

Jordan and Comer are also saying that a refusal to comply with a congressional subpoena constitutes obstruction of Congress. That’s just plain preposterous. Congress is not impeded from functioning simply because a single witness disputes the validity of a subpoena and declines to testify. But if it were true, then Jim Jordan is the one who should be prosecuted. He has been refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena for over a year now. And you can add Trump flunkies Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, and Dan Scavino, to the list of those subpoena evaders who are contemptuous of Congress.

SEE ALSO: Rep Swalwell Skewers GOP Committee Chair Jim Jordan for Hypocritical Attack on Merrick Garland

To make matters worse, Comer scampered off to a right-wing cable outlet to complain about his being ignored by Hunter Biden. He whined to Newsmax that…

“I’ve told my colleagues in the Republican conference, if Hunter Biden doesn’t comply with our subpoena then we might as well throw the subpoena power away cause nobody’s gonna comply with a congressional subpoena. The fact that the Democrats used their subpoenas for political reasons, for fishing expeditions, and here we have a credible investigation where we’ve been transparent with the American people, we have mountains of evidence.”

Comer’s complaint about the value of congressional subpoenas is a little late considering all of the Republicans who have already devalued it. The difference is that Democrats didn’t cry like babies when Republicans didn’t show. Democrats presented their evidence and moved on. Republicans, however, can’t do that because they don’t actually have any evidence. Which is the reason they always end up resorting to whining so pathetically instead. What else can they do?

DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

As 2023 draws to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on the progress – or lack thereof – made by America’s political class in Washington. This year began with the Republican Party assuming a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. They promised that they would use that status to advance an agenda that would benefit the nation and its citizens.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Congress, Mike Johnson

That promise was never fulfilled. To the contrary, Republicans managed to snag a record for passing fewer bills (20) than any Congress in modern times. But what makes that “achievement” all the more humiliating is that they seem to be proud of their ineffectualness. It’s hard to argue that they weren’t purposefully determined to be political slackers. Particularly if you listen to what they have said about themselves…

SEE THIS: GOP Wants a Government Shutdown Because ‘Most of What We Do is Bad, Hurts the American People’

Considering what Republicans proposed to do in the year leading up to their congressional majority, the country might want to count their blessings that the GOP are so inept. After assuming power, they immediately set aside the issues that they ran on, such as banning abortion, racist immigration policies, tax relief for corporations and the wealthy, befouling the planet, guns for everyone, everywhere, and manufactured outrages against buzzwords like CRT, DEI, and “wokism.”

Instead, the GOP set their sights on personal political vendettas, fighting among themselves, and running defense for Dear Leader Donald Trump. As result, they managed to pass only twenty bills, most of which were trivialities such as naming buildings. The exceptions, such as raising the debt ceiling and reducing inflation, only passed with majority Democratic support.

The year end analysis of the GOP’s pitiful performance was even recognized by Fox News, who ran a segment on what they called the “Do-Nothing Congress,” with a chyron that read “Congress Has Historically Unproductive 2023.”

However, perhaps they are being unduly harsh. The 118th Congress wasn’t entirely unproductive. In fact, they scored some notable records for a majority party in the legislature. And it’s high time we give credit where credit is due. For instance…

  • The GOP held more votes (15) to elect a Speaker (Kevin McCarthy) than ever before.
  • They nominated more Speaker candidates (Steve Scalise, Jim Jordan, Tom Emmer, Mike Johnson), after ousting their first Speaker nine months later, than any prior Congress.
  • They spent more time (three weeks) to run through those Speaker candidates before succeeding in electing an unknown backbencher (Mike Johnson) with dubious credentials.
  • They introduced more articles of impeachment (for President Biden, DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Chris Wray, U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, and Attorney General Merrick Garland) than ever.
  • And they entered more dick pix (1) into the congressional record during televised hearings than any of their predecessors.

With that record of achievement, how can anyone disparage the work ethic of the Republicans currently in charge of the House? They are clearly an energetic bunch of eager beavers intent on wasting taxpayer money and smearing their political opponents with pointless probes and knee-jerk obstructionism.

Without a doubt, they have been more prolific in those endeavors than anyone who has come before them. And no one should deprive them of that “honor.” They have even made time to help Democrats produce campaign ads that illustrate just how productive they were when they held the majority…

HUH? GOP Says the Sham Biden Impeachment is Legit Because GOP Committee Chairs Are on TV a Lot

The Republican members of the House of Representatives are fiercely dedicated to their singular mission of maligning President Biden and every other Democrat that they encounter. They have utterly abandoned any pretense of serving their constituents or carrying out the duties to advance the welfare of the American people or the nation.

Click here to Tweet this article

Joe Biden, GOP, Elephant

In pursuit of their bitterly partisan goals, the GOP is preparing to vote on whether to stage a thoroughly ludicrous Biden impeachment inquiry, despite not having the slightest hint of evidence of any wrongdoing. It is such a blatant farce that even Fox News has reported on the GOP’s shameless inability to produce any facts to support their smear campaign…

SEE THIS: WHOA! Peter Doocy of Fox News Reports that the GOP Failed to Find Any Evidence to Impeach Biden

On Tuesday morning the Republicans held a hearing to debate the Impeachment inquiry proposal. It was predictably devoid of any substance that would justify either an inquiry or an impeachment. However, it was chock full of asinine arguments by Republicans trying desperately to defend their dimwitted determination to destroy Biden. And leading the pack was GOP Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, who sought to rationalize the alleged “transparency” of a process that Republicans have been insisting be conducted behind closed doors. He GOP-splained that…

“They’ve continued to update. Not just Chairman Comer, but Chairman Jordan, Chairman Smith. They’ve been on TV…You can’t turn on a news program without seeing one of those three updating the American people on this. So to say that we’ve come up lacking in transparency is laughable.”

That’s right! It was all above board because recidivist liars like James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith, are frequent guests on Fox News and Steve Bannon’s War Room. They actually believe that that sort of perpetual media presence is how congressional business is supposed to be conducted. They have adopted the Trump perspective of Reality TV being de facto reality.

In fact, what Reschenthaler is describing is precisely why the Republican plans are preposterous and intolerable. They are hoping to hold the hearings in private, and then only reveal on right-wing television programs what they claim took place. They will, of course, deliver grossly biased distortions of reality in their TV appearances. And they will mischaracterize whatever “evidence” they choose to present. This is the same process they previously proposed for deposing Hunter Biden…

SEE ALSO: GOP and Fox News Oppose Public Testimony By Hunter Biden Because Then They Can’t Lie About It

This isn’t conjecture. Republicans have already demonstrated that they will brazenly lie about testimony given in private. That tendency was noted by Democratic Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, who responded to Reschenthaler’s nonsense saying that…

“Mr. Reschenthaler is absolutely right. The three chairs of the committees conducting this sham impeachment inquiry have been all over the news. On Fox, on Newsmax, every night, mischaracterizing what they’ve found. Mischaracterizing what witnesses have said.

“And that’s why it’s important that, if this is to go forward, the American people will be able to judge for themselves. There’s a pattern and practice at this point of the Republican majority hiding what’s going on, only cherry-picking the evidence that they want to move forward. Disregarding when it’s contradicted, even by their own witnesses.”

If Republicans go forward with their phony impeachment inquiry it will likely backfire on them, just as all of their prior attempted smears have done. They think that the American people are stupid. But who can blame them when the only people they have any personal contact with are the ones who watch Fox News? The rest of the nation will be heard loud and clear next November when Republicans are driven from office.

Congress Boots Lying Liar George Santos, While Trump Remains Leader of the Republican Party

Joseph Goebbels, the minister of propaganda for the German Nazi government, was a notorious proponent of the “Big Lie” theory that says if you’re going to tell a lie, make a big one. He contended that people were more likely to believe a big lie told frequently, than smaller, less significant lies. And Donald Trump has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to confirming that theory.

Donald Trump Mugshot - Loser Emoji

On Thursday morning the House of Representatives voted to expel George Santos from Congress. Among the allegations against him were the repeated lies he has told about his past, and his criminal indictments currently pending. Why Republicans in Congress are suddenly worried about lying is a mystery, considering that it has been their chief political strategy since assuming their razor-thin majority in the House earlier this year.

SEE THIS: GOP and Fox News Oppose Public Testimony By Hunter Biden Because Then They Can’t Lie About It

The final vote to expel Santos was 311 to 114. However, it is notable that a majority of Republicans (105-112) voted against the expulsion. That includes every member of the GOP leadership. Apparently they favor keeping pathological liars in their caucus to advance their agenda along with fellow liars such as Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and their new Speaker, Mike Johnson.

Most Americans, though, will be relieved that a slimeball like Santos has been ousted. Just as they were relieved when Trump lost to President Biden in 2020. However, the Republican Party remains enamored of their most dishonest political leaders. And the best example of that is Trump himself.

A comparison of Trump and Santos reveals the GOP’s faith in the “Big Lie” theory. Santos told relatively small lies about his education, work experience, and personal history. Trump has told humungous lies to facilitate a violent coup in an effort to undermine American democracy. He also told large lies regarding his net worth in order to either avoid paying millions in taxes or to deceive banks to get lower loan rates. He also lied bigly about his sexual abuse of dozens of women, including the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll. In the Lie Derby, Trump is clearly the winner.

SEE ALSO: Ted Lieu Reads Federal Judge’s Confirmation that Trump is a Rapist Into Congressional Record

The Trump/Santos comparison is also notable in that Santos is awaiting trial on 23 charges. Trump has 91 charges currently pending, nearly four times as many as Santos. And while Santos hasn’t been convicted of anything yet, Trump has been found legally liable for financial fraud with his businesses, his “charity” foundation, his “university,” and for defamation and rape. But despite Trump’s dominance in both lies and crimes, it is Santos who got banished from his political perch. Meanwhile, Trump is the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

The lesson from this is that Santos erred by not committing more serious crimes. Had he done so he might now be Trump’s running mate. Although that may still be a possibility. Trump, on the other hand, has been rewarded for his more egregious criminality. Democrats don’t behave this way. For instance, Sen. Bob Menendez, who was recently indicted, has already been called on to resign by many Democratic senators.

Republicans, however, admire nothing more than crooks who are adept at getting away with their crimes. So it’s no wonder that they worship an accomplished mob boss like Trump. And the fact that some of them held Santos to account, but not Trump, really tells you all you need to know about the GOP’s affinity for outlaws.

Republican Congressman Makes a Great Case – and Political Ad – for Voting Against Republicans

The Republican Party has long held the position that government is an evil institution that can only make life worse for its citizens. They refuse to accept any notion that a democracy in America can advance the interests of the people. Instead, they insist that government doesn’t work and then, when they have some measure of authority, they prove it by their malicious mismanagement.

This anti-American philosophy can be traced back at least to Ronald Reagan, who preached that “Government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem.” That dismal and cynical perspective renouncing the concept of a self-governing nation has lately been bolstered by the Donald Trump era’s brand of GOP politics. Today’s Republicans frolic in the failures of legislative affairs that they believe are inherently harmful. In fact they’re proud of it…

On Wednesday Republican Rep. Chip Roy took to the floor of the House of Representatives to chastise members of his own party for their conspicuous incompetence and inability to get anything done. His anger was intended as criticism of the GOP’s failure to pass absurd and meritless legislative assaults against Democrats. However, it will play much better as an ad for Democrats seeking to highlight the ineptitude of Republicans, which the campaign for President Biden quickly jumped on. “Chips Ahoy” Roy ranted that he wanted…

One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing. One. That I can go campaign on and say we did. One. Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me, one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done

Indeed, the Republicans haven’t managed to move a single piece of significant legislation that might benefit the people. Although it did take them fifteen votes to elect Kevin McCarthy as their Speaker. But then they ousted him and took three more weeks to select his replacement, Mike Johnson. In the meantime they held hearings on Hunter Biden, gas stoves, honoring January 6th insurrectionists, and impeaching President Biden on the basis of zero evidence of any wrongdoing.

Producing pro-Democratic ads has become something of an avocation for Republicans and right-wing media. Previously, Marjorie Taylor Greene whined that Democrats were doing a variety of wonderful things that most Americans support. An appreciative Biden campaign turned into a pro-Biden advertisement.

The folks at Fox News weren’t going to be ignored in this endeavor. So “Outnumbered” co-host Emily Compagno itemized some of the crazy conspiracy theories to which Mike Johnson has subscribed. Which made another strong argument against the GOP and in favor of Democrats.

Democrats owe the Republican party a debt of gratitude for their inadvertent honesty and helpful advertisement production. It will save the Democrats a lot of money they would otherwise have had to spend on producing ads themselves.

Unfortunately, the downside is that the American people are being shortchanged by not having a functional legislative branch of government at a time when the nation and the world needs the leadership that the U.S. can provide. But on the basis of the GOP’s own arguments, hopefully Republicans will be voted out of office so that intelligent, compassionate, patriotic, adults can restore confidence in the American system of government and in democracy itself.

Republicans in Congress are Holding Israelis Hostage to Aid for Wealthy American Tax Cheats

It may be difficult to imagine these days, but there used to be certain issues that Democrats and Republicans agreed on. Most prominently were those issues that addressed national security and a commitment to our international allies. But in the era of Donald Trump and his MAGA cult, the best interests of America have been scrapped in favor ultra-partisanship and devotion to an aspiring authoritarian figurehead.

Republican Cash

Evidence of the degradation of congressional comity is painfully apparent in the proposal by the new Republican Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, to provide emergency humanitarian aid to Israel. While he has only been in the Speaker’s chair for a week, Johnson has already demonstrated that he is an extremist conservative whose priorities could not be farther away from those of the American people.

President Biden has offered a plan to aid Israel in its fight against Hamas terrorists. The plan also includes aid to our allies in Ukraine and funding for border security. But while Senate Republicans and Democrats are both supporting Biden’s proposal, Johnson and Republicans in the House have refused to consider it. They have instead put forward their own bill that pairs the emergency aid for Israel with offsetting cuts to the federal budget, specifically the funding that Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act provided to the IRS.

One of the reasons that Republicans oppose Biden’s proposal is because they object to joining two separate subjects (Israel and Ukraine) in the same bill. But that’s exactly what the GOP is doing with their proposal for aid to Israel combined with slashing IRS funding. So they think that it’s wrong to pair aid for two allies whose people are being slaughtered by terrorist aggressors, but it’s okay to pair humanitarian aid with a budget cut that will allow wealthy American tax cheats to get away with their crimes. Good to know.

What’s more, Republicans are framing their phony legislation as offsetting the aid for Israel with federal budget cuts elsewhere. But cutting the IRS budget will only reduce the revenue that the agency is able to generate. Which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates would be $200 billion over a decade. So the effect of the GOP bill is to increase the deficit by spending on aid for Israel, and increasing the deficit even more by further reducing revenue.

This is a double hit on the debt that leaves our allies in Ukraine in grave peril, and lets the tax cheats who finance Republican campaigns off the hook. But that isn’t all. It would also make it harder for the IRS to investigate and sanction unlawful funding for worldwide terrorism. And because the GOP bill has little chance of passing in the Senate or getting the President’s signature, it is also imperiling the aid to Israel. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed these matters saying that…

“Politicizing our national security interests is a nonstarter. Demanding offsets for meeting core national security needs of the United States – like supporting Israel and defending Ukraine from atrocities and Russian imperialism – would be a break with the normal, bipartisan process and could have devastating implications for our safety and alliances in the years ahead.”

Make no mistake, Republicans don’t care about Israel or Ukraine or the deficit or even border security. They are focused solely on throwing a monkey wrench into anything that Biden proposes. It’s a brazenly political ploy to create legislative chaos, and then try to blame Biden and Democrats for it. They tried that before with the debt ceiling and the government shutdown, but it didn’t work. Undeterred, they still think that they will be able to attack Democrats for voting against the aid for Israel, even though it was the Republicans’ deliberate poison pill in the bill that doomed it to failure.

The American people, however, are smarter than Republicans give them credit for. And the GOP will be exposed for, once again, putting party before country, even at the expense of innocent lives. This is the agenda of the new GOP Speaker and the razor-thin Republican majority in the House. And their callousness, greed, hypocrisy, and anti-Americanism will not be forgotten when voters go to the polls next November.
