IT’S A CULT: Most Fox News Viewers Are Still Loyal After Dominion Lawsuit Discloses Their Lies

Fallout from the billion dollar defamation lawsuit against Fox News by Dominion Voting systems continues to rain down on Fox with some notable consequences. In recent weeks Dominion has filed motions in court that have revealed the brazen dishonesty of Fox executives and hosts in their own words.

Fox News Lies

Dominion was able to acquire internal communications from Fox News that show how they have been outright lying to their audience in support of Donald Trump and his phony election fraud lies, while privately acknowledging that they knew that there was no truth whatsoever to his baseless allegations. And their lying was deliberately intended to stay in Trump’s good graces, despite the fallaciousness.

RELATED: In Dominion v Fox News, Network Cries ‘We Can’t Make People Think We’ve Turned Against Trump’

The purposefully deceitful remarks that Fox personnel made privately included…

  • Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch: Really crazy stuff.
  • Tucker Carlson: What [Trump is] good at is destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that. He could easily destroy us if we play it wrong.
  • More Tucker Carlson: I hate [Trump] passionately [and he is] a demonic force.
  • Rupert Murdoch to Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott: We don’t want to antagonize Trump further.
  • Suzanne Scott: You can’t give the crazies an inch right now […] The audience feels like we crapped on [them] and we have damaged their trust and belief in us.
  • Laura Ingraham: Sidney [Powell] is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy {Giuliani].
  • Sean Hannity: That whole narrative that [Sidney] Powell was pushing, I did not believe it for one second, [and that] she’s a f*cking lunatic.

Now a new poll has measured the impact that these revelations have had on Fox News viewers. and the results are disturbing, to say the least. Here are some of the surveys highlights…

  • While 21% of viewers say that they now trust Fox News less, 45% say that they continue to trust the network.
  • 13% say they no longer believe the 2020 election was stolen, but 50% still believe Trump’s “Big Lie.”
  • 16% say they have a less favorable opinion of Fox hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, but 52% still have favorable opinions.

It’s somewhat encouraging that some of Fox’s audience have embraced reality and backed away from their prior blind acceptance of everything Fox says. However, most of their viewers remain firmly attached to the Fox doctrine even after learning that they have been lying to them. That’s the behavior of a cult.

Some good news in the poll includes that Fox News viewers have about the same awareness (60%) of the Dominion lawsuit as the general public (56%). And yet they still largely trust the network. However, they must be exposing themselves to other media, because Fox News has a near total blackout on the subject.

RELATED: FOX News FINALLY Reports on the Dominion Lawsuit and is Predictably Dishonest and Biased

Not surprisingly, there is a significantly greater awareness of the lawsuit among viewers of MSNBC (82%) and CNN (71%), where reporting on it has not been suppressed. Also notable is that 10% Fox News viewers who were aware of the lawsuit say that they now watch it less. But 75% say their viewing has not changed. Inexplicably, 16% say they watch Fox News more after finding out that they are dupes being mislead by propagandists.

That’s some pretty powerful cult programming right there. They actually prefer being lied to, and they reward their deceivers. Those poor souls must now be regarded as lost and irretrievable. It’s a good thing that there aren’t very many of them (16% of Fox’s highest rated program = about 500,000, which is about 0.15% of the U.S. population).

UPDATE I: Another new poll found that “Nearly two-thirds of Americans (65 percent) think Fox News should be held accountable after … spread[ing] false information about the 2020 presidential election.” That includes 41% of Republicans. Although 47% of the GOP cult do not think Fox should be held accountable.

UPDATE II: In a March 31 ruling on summary judgement, the judge found that “The evidence is ‘CRYSTAL clear that none of the Statements [made on Fox News] relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true.'”

UPDATE III: The judge in the Dominion case has sanctioned Fox News for withholding evidence. He also made several other rulings that hamper Fox’s ability to deflect from the issue of defamation.

Americans are Unsatisfied with Politics in General, But Specifically Despise Trump and the GOP

One thing that Donald Trump and the Republican Party can boast about having accomplished is poisoning the political atmosphere through divisive rhetoric, disinformation, and hate speech.

Donald Trump, Joe Biden

Throughout the Era of Trump, he has never tried to unite the nation or to expand his reach out to voter groups that weren’t already devoutly embracing his cult movement. And the GOP has been too afraid to separate themselves from Trump. Consequently, they have also constricted their support to the farthest edges of the right-wing fringe. And that’s a condition that has been exacerbated by the Republican Ministry of Disinformation, aka Fox News.

RELATED: Fox News is OUTRAGED Because Biden Dares to Say He is ‘Optimistic About America’s Future’

On the other hand, President Biden and the Democrats have at least tried to appeal to a broader constituency. They have succeeded with regard to some of the never-Trump Republicans and Independents. And the results are evident in a new survey by NBC News.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Congress, NBC Poll

This poll shows the general dissatisfaction that has shrouded American politics. However, Democrats are not nearly as bad off as Republicans. Biden and the Democratic Party have a net negative approval in single digits. While Trump and the GOP are rated significantly lower and are underwater by more than -20%. And worse for Trump, only 33% of Republicans identify as Trump supporters.

So the next time you hear Trump bragging about how he is leading everybody in every poll by a lot, remember that he is a pathological liar and that the truth is that he was the most unpopular president in modern times, and his popularity has decreased since he was unceremoniously evicted from the White House.

Donald Trump is The Biggest Loser: Post-Midterm Poll Affirms What Everyone Already Knows

In the wake of the 2022 midterm election’s fabled “Red Wave” that never materialized, the Republican Party is drifting aimlessly as they try to pretend that they weren’t all aboard Donald Trump’s Titanic electoral catastrophe.

Donald Trump, Biggest Loser

Now Trump is sinking to new lows at a time when historically the party in the White House loses dozens of seats in Congress and state offices. That didn’t happen this time, and it’s evident that Trump is the reason why. Voters abandoned him, and the flotilla of feckless hopefuls that he endorsed, in droves. True to form, Trump went berserk at having been fingered for the fiasco he caused.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Lashes Out at ‘Fake News’ for Reporting Accurately that He’s the Biggest Loser

Trump’s responsibility for the GOP’s implosion was affirmed in a new poll, as reported in The Hill

“Voters and Republican operatives alike are labeling former President Trump the biggest loser of the midterms, raising questions about his strength heading into 2024.

“In a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill on Monday, 20 percent of voters said Trump was the clear loser after the Nov. 8 elections, while 14 percent said “MAGA Republicans” were and 12 percent pointed to mainstream Republicans.”

In all, nearly half of the poll’s respondents (46%) placed the blame squarely on Trump or his mutation of the Republican Party. Although that wasn’t much of a revelation. Trump had already lost the presidency once. He lost the popular vote twice. His two impeachments continue to hang over his losing legacy. And he is the subject of several civil and criminal investigations. No wonder 65% of registered voters don’t want him to even run in 2024.

By contrast, the same poll found that only “15 percent said Democrats were the biggest losers,” and that only “46 percent of respondents … said they would vote for him if the Republican presidential primary were held today.” That’s just Republicans.

Ironically, Trump posted a comment Tuesday morning wherein he was “thrilled” that nearly half of his own party would vote for someone else in a primary. But despite this foreboding future for the Former Guy, Trump is articulating a delusional account of the election results. He posted the following comment exalting himself and MAGA on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social

“Joe O’Dea lost his race in CO by over 12 points because he campaigned against MAGA. Likewise, candidates who shifted their ‘messaging’ after winning big in the Primaries (Bolduc!) saw big losses in General. Will they ever learn their lesson? You can’t win without MAGA!”

Of course, what Trump is yammering about is diametrically opposed to reality. It was the MAGA candidates who lost, including Lee Zeldin (New York), Doug Mastriano (Pennsylvania) Dan Cox (Maryland), Tudor Dixon (Michigan), Mehmet Oz (Pennsylvania), etc.). And it was those few who distanced themselves from Trump who won, including Brian Kemp (Georgia), Steve Sisolak (Nevada), Ron DeSantis (Florida), and Mike DeWine (Ohio).

Clearly MAGA is an anchor around the necks of GOP candidates. But Trump is too wrapped up in his malignant narcissism to notice. And his fawning sycophants at Fox News aren’t helping him when they encourage his psychosis with this sort of lunatic analysis…

As Trump Prepares to Lose Another Presidential Race, Most Americans Say He Shouldn’t Run

Former reality TV game show host, Donald Trump, has been teasing for weeks that he intends to run for president again in 2024. And he promised that he would make a “big announcement” on Tuesday, November 15, that he openly implies will be the commencement of his campaign. He is even laughably previewing it as “one of the most important days in the history of our Country!”

Donald Trump, Presidenty

On Monday Trump dropped more than 70 self-exalting posts on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. Most of them portrayed him as the messiah of his worshipful cult followers, with images of him hovering the heavens or sporting the regalia of a valiant warrior. Which is ironic for a perpetually whining crybaby who has demonstrated nothing but cowardice.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Lashes Out at ‘Fake News’ for Reporting Accurately that He’s the Biggest Loser

While Trump is clearly infatuated with himself, his perverse presumption that there is a groundswell of supporters clamoring for his re-occupation of the White House is preposterous. And a new poll reveals that reality in stark terms. According to the survey…

“A Politico-Morning Consult poll showed that 53 percent of registered voters believe he definitely should not run, while 12 percent said he probably shouldn’t. Less than 20 percent of respondents said he should definitely run, while only 12 percent said he probably should.”

On the heels of the midterm election Trump is descending to new lows. Historically the party in the White House loses dozens of seats in Congress. That didn’t happen this time. And there is widespread agreement that Trump was the single biggest reason that voters abandoned him and the parade of deplorable clown candidates that he endorsed. Even many Republicans spent the post-election week blaming Trump and trying to pretend that they weren’t part of his crusade.

Despite the American people’s overwhelming revulsion of Trump’s MAGA movement, he still suffers under the delusion that he is a beloved leader whose efforts on behalf of the phalanx of GOP losers were a smashing success. Not only is that irrefutably false, but the poll also found that Trump’s support among his own party is pitifully weak…

“A majority of Republican respondents in the Politico-Morning Consult poll said they wanted Trump to run, with 61 percent saying he definitely or probably should. But 35 percent said he should not run.”

So a third of the Republican Party doesn’t merely prefer a different candidate. They don’t even want Trump in the race. They know that his presence will be a drag on the rest of the Party’s candidates for every office from the presidency to the sanitation department. Consequently, the most avid advocates for a Trump candidacy are an odd combination of his most glassy-eyed disciples, and Democratic campaign consultants.

Trump may have some reservations about running himself. In fact, his “big announcement” may actually be a head fake that just reveals a 50% off sale of all MAGA merchandise at the Mar-a-Lago gift shop. After all, he already lost the presidency once. He lost the popular vote twice. He lost the 2022 midterms. His notoriously fragile ego couldn’t survive another rejection. So he might be laying the groundwork for an alternative career. But it’s one that is just as likely to result in a humiliating failure as another White House run: Trump TV?

Trump Truthfully Tells His Cult Rally Rabble that ‘I Think They’d Like To See Me In Prison’

Pathological liar Donald Trump doesn’t tell the truth very often. He has a record for blatantly lying during his occupation of the White House that President Biden – nor any future president – can ever hope to match. So when he does manage to say something truthful he deserves to get credit for it.

Donald Trump, Prison

Trump has spent the past two years whining about his having lost the 2020 presidential election. However, his efforts to prove any of his claims that the election was “rigged and stolen” from him have failed in more than sixty court challenges for lack of even a shred of evidence. It is that campaign to undermine democracy that has come to be known as the “Big Lie.” Even his own Attorney General, Bill Barr, said it was “bullshit.”

RELATED: AG Bill Barr on Trump’s Big Lie: We Realized From the Beginning it Was Just Bull****

At his latest travelling salvation show, Trump rattled off his tedious litany of complaints and perceived victimhood. He repeated his well worn lines about the media, the election he lost, and always his seething hatred for all things democratic and his nemesis who bests him on all counts, President Biden. But on one matter Trump actually got something right at the end of a lie-riddled rant when he sobbed that…

“They’re trying to wipe out free speech, crush religious liberty, confiscate your guns, indoctrinate your children, criminalize dissent, and even put their political opponents in prison. I think they’d like to see me in prison. Can you imagine? I think they’d like… You know why? You know why? Because they’re sick. They’re sick people.”

Can you imagine? Can you imagine that law abiding Americans want politicians who commit crimes to be punished? Is it within your ability to grasp that people who incite violence in the process of staging a coup should be held accountable? Do you really believe that stealing highly sensitive national security materials, hoarding them in your hotel/home, and lying to the FBI about it should be prosecuted? Would you want authorities to investigate someone who committed bank and tax fraud for millions of dollars?

For the record, most Americans would answer all of those questions in the affirmative. Recent polling shows that nearly six in ten voters think that Trump should face charges over the January 6th insurrection. Even a Fox News poll shows that voters think Trump’s theft of classified documents was wrong by a whopping 39 point margin (65% to 26%).

As usual, just about everything else in Trump’s rally harangue is flagrantly false. It is Trump and his Republican comrades who have threatened free speech, literally proposing to ban books and censor media. They have fouled the notion of religious liberty by forcing their beliefs on everyone else. Their love affair with guns puts Americans at risk every day. And their idea of education is a true form of indoctrination that excises any historical facts that make conservatives uncomfortable, such as slavery and discrimination against minorities, immigrants, women, and LGBTQ.

RELATED: Biden Was Wrong to Call MAGA Republicans Merely ‘Semi’ Fascist

Trump’s complaints about people wanting to see him in prison run in stark contrast to his own advocacy of prison for his political opponents. He routinely accuses others of crimes without any facts to support his charges. His rallies regularly feature chants of “Lock [him/her] up,” for unidentified crimes and without trial or conviction. And just to demonstrate his raging hypocrisy, that chant was even taken up within minutes of his prison whining at Saturday’s rally. You really can’t make this up…

Dear Leader Trump Brags that His MAGA Cult is Beating the Failing Republican Party

The looming threat to democracy in America posed by Donald Trump and his tyrannical aspirations continues to smolder among the glassy-eyed disciples who have pledged themselves to their malignant messiah. It’s a movement that resembles most closely the reigns of the fascistic tyrants that Trump idolizes and strives to emulate.

Donald Trump Rally, Sieg Heil

On Saturday Trump held the latest of his traveling salvation shows in Ohio, ostensibly to boost the struggling campaign of Republican senatorial candidate, J.D. Vance. But one would be hard pressed to find much expression of support for Vance during the hour long harangue. In fact, Trump’s introduction to Vance could hardly be characterized as complimentary when he said that “JD is kissing my ass, he wants my support so bad.”

RELATED: Wannabe Kingmaker Donald Trump’s Latest Endorsement (Vance) Reveals His Big Fat Flaming Ego

True to form, Trump spent nearly the entire time exalting himself, disparaging his foes, lying profusely, and vilifying America as “a nation in decline,” and awash in crime, corruption, and cultural depravity. To be fair, those are all subjects that he should be well acquainted with.

Trump’s allegiance to other Republicans is always conditioned on their demonstration of unflinching adoration and loyalty to him. So even though Vance has previously described Trump as “noxious,” “outrageous and offensive,” and “an idiot,” Trump can forgive him if he kneels to kiss his posterior.

However, at the same time Trump also used this rally speech to distance himself even farther from the Republican Party that he is supposed to be leading. At one point he explicitly distinguished support for him from that of the GOP saying that…

“We got 12 million more and we lost. We didn’t lose. We lost in their imagination. And we’re leading Biden now in all the polls and we are leading also all Republicans by record numbers. The Republicans are not doing too well.”

Let’s just set aside Trump’s initial concession that he lost the 2020 presidential election, and his clumsy attempt to recover and reiterate the “Big Lie” that he won. His criticism of the Republican Party seems to suggest that he isn’t actually affiliated with it. He is bragging that his MAGA cult is beating the GOP, and that the GOP, in contrast to whatever he is, is “not doing too well.”

That’s nothing new for Trump. He has been a fierce critic of his own party’s members and leadership from his first day’s as a candidate. It’s not because he is an independent thinker and places principle above party. It’s because he places himself above everything. He recently commented on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that “Without the Rallies and, even more importantly, the Endorsements, most [Republicans] would lose.”

Trump is not nearly as popular as he thinks he is. His approval rating is a dismal 34%, well below President Biden at 45%. And a recent New York Times poll shows that voters prefer Biden over Trump by 45% to 42%, in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. What’s more, a poll in July found that “Close to half of Republican primary voters want someone other than former President Trump to run in 2024.” Perhaps it’s because of his rampant criminal activities.

LOL: Trump Thinks the FBI Search of His Mar-a-Lago Bunker Has Boosted GOP Electoral Prospects

If there is one thing that we can always rely on, it’s that Donald Trump will push a grossly distorted version of reality for any event that has exposed his faults or fallings, or might have negative consequences for him if viewed honestly. This tendency on Trump’s part to reshape reality can manifest in episodes as absurd as his using a sharpie to redraw a weather map to conform to the lie he told about a hurricane’s path.

Donald Trump

Last week the FBI executed a legally issued search warrant on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound in Palm Beach, Florida. Ever since, Trump and his media mouthpieces have been attempting to spin the search as an abuse of power by an out of control administration. Never mind that they have been utterly incapable of explaining why Trump had numerous boxes of classified materials that he denied having and refused to return. And their stream of bizarre excuses got more outlandish with each new attempt to exonerate Trump and demonize law enforcement.

RELATED: Trump’s TV Lawyer Keeps Contradicting His (Variable) Excuses for Hoarding Classified Materials

After having failed pitifully to deflect attention from his criminal activities, Trump is now trying to claim that they were justified because they allegedly have had a beneficial effect on the electoral prospects of his fellow Republicans. He posted on TRUTH Social, his miserably failing Twitter ripoff, that…

“Republicans could win many additional seats, both in the House & Senate, because of the strong backlash over the raid at Mat-a-Lago. Polls are showing that some lost Republican territory over the last number of weeks has been more than made up with the unannounced Break In by the FBI, which should never have happened!”

First of all, Trump needs to learn how to spell the name of his home/golf resort. It isn’t MAT-a-Lago. More to the point, he is either reading some very obscure polls that can’t be found online, or he’s making up the polling data in his comment. Here are some results from a more reputable source that shows Trump’s endorsed senate candidates trailing nationwide in swing states.

In Pennsylvania Fetterman is beating Oz by double digits. Same thing for Kelly over Masters in Arizona. Plus Ryan is ahead of Vance in Ohio, Warnock is ahead of Walker in Georgia, Demings just pulled ahead of Rubio in Florida, and Beasley is tied with Budd in North Carolina. So where is there any evidence of the backlash that Trump is yammering about?

What’s more, a new poll by POLITICO/Morning Consult shows that more Americans are supportive of the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago. A plurality said that there was evidence that Trump committed a crime. A majority (54%) said the search was conducted because of mishandling of classified information. And more respondents said that they approve of the search by 49% to 37% who disapproved.

The poll also found another sign that Trump’s backlash exists only in his twisted imagination. A mere 39% of registered voters said that Trump should run again in 2024. Which is a pretty low number for someone who is regarded as their party’s savior. For Biden, 28% said that he should run in 2024. Which is also a low number, but then Democrats are not blindly indoctrinated cult members who regard their political leaders as messiahs.

It’s still a long ways to November and much can happen to affect the election results. Good polling in August should not be viewed as a signal to relax and coast to a presumed victory. Democrats need to remain engaged and staunchly committed to working hard to convince persuadable voters to back progressives at every level of government. And they need to make sure that Democratic voters actually cast their ballots before or on election day. Their are historical headwinds that favor the party out of power during midterms, and Democrats must not spike the ball before they’re in the end zone.

Trump Fumes That Fox News has ‘Gone to the Dark Side’ and Purposely ‘Botched’ His Polling

One of the surest signs that someone has gone completely and irretrievably bonkers is when their psychoses manifest in paranoid outbursts directed at everyone, including their closest associates. And while Donald Trump was long ago recognized as being mentally unstable, his condition only seems to get worse with each passing day.

Donald Trump, Mask, Fox News

Clearly the pressure is getting Trump. Prosecutors in several jurisdictions are accumulating testimony and documentation of his seditious schemes to undermine democracy and overturn a fair election. The House Select Committing investigating the January 6th insurrection that he incited has exceeded expectations in exposing the ethical and criminal misconduct of Trump and his pitifully inept crime syndicate.

RELATED: REPORT: Trump is ‘Fixated’ on the January 6th Hearings and Obsessed with How He is Coming Across

On Tuesday morning Trump took to his miserably failing social media website, TRUTH Social, to vent his spleen regarding his ever increasing legal and political peril. And in this episode he berated his longtime Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) for failing to be sufficiently worshipful. Trump posted the following condemnation of his pals at Fox and Friends…

“@foxandfriends just really botched my poll numbers, no doubt on purpose. That show has been terrible – gone to the ‘dark side.’ They quickly quote the big Turning Point Poll victory of almost 60 points over the number two Republican, and then hammer with outliers. Actually, almost all polls have me leading all Republicans & Biden BY A LOT. RINO Paul Ryan, one of the weakest and worst speakers EVER, must be running the place. Anyway, thank you to Turning Point, the crowd & ‘love’ was AMAZING!”

That’s an impressive heap of hogwash, even for Trump. He can’t simply have a rational disagreement with a segment on the program that he was once featured on weekly. So he leaps straight into “dark side” damnation of his former friends. He asserts, without evidence, that they are purposefully “botching” his polling numbers.

What Trump is freaking out about is how Fox and Friends co-host Steve Doocy reported Trump’s victory in a survey of potential 2024 Republican presidential candidates conducted at the ultra-rightist Turning Point conference in Tampa, Florida. Rather than stopping there, Doocy went on to mention that there were other polls that had different results (video below):

“Keep in mind, Turning Point, a group of young Republican conservative activists from all across the country. So you have got people from all across the country convening in Tampa. I’m thinking about that is a little different than a couple of other polls that we have seen over the last couple of weeks, too. Weeks ago in Florida, Blueprint polling did a poll, [Gov. Ron] DeSantis leads the former president in all age groupings.

“Then there was a University of New Hampshire poll in June. DeSantis actually led Trump, 39 to 37. And that New York Times/Sienna College poll that we’ve cited quite a few times, less than half of Republican voters backed Donald Trump as their preferred choice.”

Well, that was all it took to set Trump off. Never mind that Doocy was uncharacteristically correct. Trump felt compelled to lie, as usual, about leading in “almost all polls” against both DeSantis and President Biden. The truth is that Trump’s standing has severely withered in recent weeks. DeSantis is strongly challenging him in the GOP primary, and Biden is beating in him general election polls.

Nevertheless, Trump may have some cause to worry. There has been a noticeable shift toward DeSantis on Fox News lately. And Fox News magnate Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has recently stepped back from Trump in significant ways. His New York Post published an editorial that concluded by saying that Trump is “unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” And his Wall Street Journal castigated Trump’s action and inaction during the insurrection, saying that “he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out.”

RELATED: Rupert Murdoch’s Right-Wing New York Post Scorches Trump as ‘Unworthy’ to Be President

Trump’s descent into madness is sure to accelerate as more proof of his malicious malfeasance comes to light, and more of the rats on his vermin infested ship seek to jump overboard to save themselves. The closer Trump comes to indictments and prosecutions, the more frantically and wildly he will lash out at anyone and everyone in his warpath. For the entertainment value alone, it will be hard to find more captivating melodrama streaming on television this fall.

Trump Suffers Severe Cognitive Collapse, Claims that ‘Everyone Was Happy’ When He Was in Office

Only the most brainwashed disciples of his cult still believe that Donald Trump is mentally competent. He never was the “stable genius” that he laughably called himself. But his psychological decline appears to be picking up steam as his legal peril intensifies in conjunction with his rapidly deteriorating prospects for a return to the White House.

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

On Friday Trump delivered a campaign speech in Las Vegas for a couple of Republican candidates in Nevada. It was typically rife with lies and unbridled outrage triggered by figments of his overactive imagination. He regurgitated his delusional election fraud claims and flung infantile insults at his political foes.

RELATED: The Crimes Trump Can (Should) Be Indicted For Now, According to Watergate Prosecutor and Others

In addition to his standard narcissistic rambling and psychotic sermonizing, Trump also unleashed the following hysterical observation pulled directly out of his asinine recollection of a warped version of the past:

“We have to stop fighting with each other and unify. That was happening during the greatest period, I believe, in our country’s history in many ways. Just before COVID came in from China – and that’s where it came from, Wuhan. It came from Wuhan. It can happen again. We were more unified just before that. Everybody was happy.”

Trump is right if what he means by “everybody” is his dimwitted followers and the rage-fueled voices in his head. However, a reality-based remembrance of the Trump years reveals a nation that was more unified in hatred of Trump than happiness. After all, there were unprecedented, massive protests from the very beginning of his term. He had record low approval ratings that never reached 50%. He lost the lost popular vote twice. He lost reelection by over seven million votes. And how could he forget that he was impeached twice? A recent poll shows that even 49% of Republicans don’t want him to run in 2024.

Does that sound like a nation that was happy and unified? Trump himself was never happy. He exhibited a constant state of outrage, throwing temper tantrums almost daily. And his animus was not reserved for Democrats. He regularly lashed out at Republicans who he deemed insufficiently worshipful.

Trump’s seething anger has never waned in the months since he was deported back to Mar-a-Lago. He is still spewing the furious tirades that embody the whole of his public life. Also in his Las Vegas address, Trump launched a bizarre attack on New York Attorney General Letitia James:

“In many cases, however, racist prosecutors should also be vigorously investigated for their brazen violation of federal civil rights laws. It’s happening to me with a racist attorney general in New York who campaigned solely on the fact that she would get Donald Trump. ‘I’m gonna get him.'”

James happens to be Black. So Trump regards her as racist because she’s investigating the crimes of a White, former reality TV game show host, who cheated on his taxes, lied about his real estate properties, and tried to overthrow the U.S. government. And his complaint that James campaigned on “get[ting] Donald Trump” doesn’t help his case. After all, she won. Which proves that it was a smart and relevant campaign issue, and that voters are also anxious to “get Trump.”

These are just two of the most recent examples of Trump’s descent into madness. Calling a Black Attorney General racist, and recalling his contentious term in office as a time of unity, are about as far removed from reality as one can get. The only worse mental afflictions would be the ones that infect anyone who continues to support Trump.

Cassidy Hutchinson Testimony for the January 6th Committee Breaks TV Viewing Records

On Tuesday the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited held a previously unscheduled hearing. It featured jarring testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a top aide to Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, who Trump incredulously claimed he hardly knew.

Hutchinson revealed that Trump was aware that weapons were present at his January 6th rally speech, and that he “didn’t f—ing care” because “they aren’t here to hurt me.” She also disclosed Trump’s seething anger that erupted into food flinging tantrums. And she told the Committee that White House lawyers were worried about criminal charges and that several members of Congress had sought pardons from Trump. These revelations and more have triggered Trump to whine about the Committee not presenting his side of the story. But that’s primarily because he has been too cowardly to show up and defend himself under oath, as all of the Republican witnesses have done.

Contrary to Trump’s repeated lying, the Committee’s televised hearings have been watched by millions of concerned Americans. And Hutchinson’s testimony drew even more viewers than all of the other sessions, with the exception of the first one that aired in primetime. In fact, it drew more viewers than all but the last of the NBA championship games. According to the Los Angeles Times

“Cassidy Hutchinson testimony set audience record for a daytime Jan. 6 hearing.”

“More than 13 million Americans tuned in to watch bombshell testimony from a former White House aide this week, making the Jan. 6 committee’s latest hearing its second-most-viewed thus far.

“The Tuesday afternoon hearing, which the committee announced just a day ahead of time, featured 25-year-old Cassidy Hutchinson, who served as an aide to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Her dramatic testimony attracted 13,231,000 viewers across all major networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, according to numbers from Nielsen, a ratings firm. This total topped the previous four hearings, which won audiences of about 10 million to 11 million people. The first Jan. 6 hearing, on June 9, drew about 20 million viewers, but it aired in prime time.”

Notably absent from the list of networks above is Fox News. That’s because it barely contributed to the viewing totals. Fox’s audience is apparently so attached to the lies that shape their alternative reality, that they will even tune out Fox News – the source of the lies that shape their alternative reality. Then, when the frightening truth-telling is over, they stream back to watch Sean Hannity and the network’s other propaganda pushers.

The hearings are being closely followed by a majority (58%) of Americans. And they are having a noticeable impact on public opinion. When asked in a recent poll if “misleading Americans about the outcome of an election” is a crime, a massive majority of 69% said definitely/probably “Yes,” including 59% of Republicans. The numbers were almost identical when respondents were asked whether “the Department of Justice should bring legal action against” the offending elected officials.

What’s more, the L.A. Times quoted pollster Celinda Lake saying that…

“The support for the hearings has increased over time. And what is emerging very, very strongly from the hearings is not just that [former President] Trump was responsible, but there was a faction of the Republicans, Trump Republicans, who were responsible as well. And that this was about overturning the will of the people, overturning the elections.” […and that…]

“There is an evolving narrative. People see it as a crime, but they also see it as a criminal conspiracy. They demand accountability, and they’re very serious about what they consider accountability. And we are seeing these numbers increase quite dramatically over the course of the hearings.”

As for Trump, he has been behaving in precisely the deranged manner that is expected of such an emotionally stunted man-baby. Throughout the hearings the former reality TV game show host (who is psychotically obsessed with TV ratings) has flung flagrant falsehoods about the unprecedented audience the hearings have generated. His gaslighting lies included…

It remains among the most puzzling aspects of the Trump era that he can so shamelessly foster such easily provable lies, and that there are still people so indoctrinated into his cult that they believe him.

And that’s what makes him so dangerous. What’s next? Will Trump merely continue with his grifting and the fleecing of his followers? Will he attempt to start a civil war? Will he pass out cups of “Kool-Aid” at his next rally? Unfortunately, there is no way to predict what depths Trump might sink to. Nor is there any way to calculate the bottom. After trying to violently overthrow the U.S. government, He is literally capable of anything.
