Following is the text of the cease and desist email to News Corpse from the National Legal and Policy Center. My response is posted at: http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=1622 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You are asked to promptly correct false information on your News Corpse website about the National Legal and Policy Center with the same prominence with which it was originally published. You are asked to cease and desist from making defamatory statements about the National Legal and Policy Center. Your posting today states: "The National Legal and Policy Center, has received about 73% of their funding since 1995 from the ultra-right Scaife Family Foundations who are famous for financing wild conspiracy theories and extremists in the media." There is no such entity as the “Scaife Family Foundations.” There is the Sarah Scaife Foundation, the Scaife Faimily Foundation, and the Cathage Foundation. Since 1995, the National Legal and Policy Center has received less than 10% of our overall support from these three foundations combined. In 2009, we received a grant from one of these foundations, the Sarah Scaife Foundation, that comprised 5.5% of our total support. You link “73% of their funding” to a Media Matters. Not only is some of information there inaccurate, but you apparently misinterpreted our total foundation support for our total support. In fact, most of our support comes from individuals whose average gift is $200. You are asked to acknowledge receipt of this email.
