Trump Sues the Pulitzer Prize Board for Honoring Accurate Stories of His Russian Collusion

Last month Donald Trump announced that he is running for the Republican Party’s nomination for president in 2024. Since then a couple of dozen of his endorsed candidates lost their races, he has been convicted of tax fraud, he lashed out hysterically against the special counsel probing his criminal activities, and he dined with neo-Nazis at Mar-a-Lago.

No one, therefore, should be surprised that Trump’s poll ratings have cratered and he is exhibiting signs of severe depression and desperation. Consequently he is resorting to bizarre antics such as calling for the termination of the Constitution.

Now Trump has filed a lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board that is profoundly frivolous. He is finally fulfilling a promise he made two months ago to file this suit in two weeks. Now he’s boasting about it on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, with a link to an article on Fox News. Fox reported that…

“Former President Trump filed a defamation lawsuit on Tuesday against the Pulitzer Prize Board over the 2018 National Reporting prizes given to The New York Times and Washington Post for coverage of ‘now-debunked theory’ of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.”

Of course, the allegations of Trump’s unsavory connections to Russia were not only never “debunked,” they have been affirmed repeatedly. Fox went on to quote from Trump’s filing saying that…

“The complaint made a series of points indicating why it feels the Pulitzer Prize-winning stories are unworthy of the honor, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller failing to find evidence of collusion.” [and that] At the time of publication, nearly every branch and agency of the federal government had examined this issue and reached the same conclusion: there was no conspiracy or cooperation between President Trump or the Trump Campaign and Russia.”

All of that is patently false. Mueller explicitly stated in his report that Trump was not exonerated. What’s more, he told the House Intelligence Committee that Trump and his campaign “welcomed and encouraged” Russian interference, and that there was sufficient evidence to indict Trump. A Republican-led Senate Intelligence panel found that Russia had an extensive program aimed at disseminating disinformation intended to benefit Trump and to harm Hillary Clinton. Even Vladimir Putin admitted, with Trump standing right next to him, that he wanted Trump to win and had helped him do so. Much of these sordid associations were catalogued in the book Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, by Michael Isikoff and David Corn.

The most likely outcome for this lawsuit is a quick dismissal by the court. The judge will surely notice that Trump isn’t even suing the news outlets that published the stories that won the Pulitzers. He’s suing the Pulitzer Board for awarding the prizes. Which they have every right to do. They even had an independent review conducted after receiving a demand from Trump to rescind the awards. That review found that “no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes.”

Look for Trump to continue to descend into an abyss of anxiety and madness as the prospects for his being held to account legally come closer to fruition. One of the signs of that descent could be revealed soon. Trump also posted a comment Wednesday that said cryptically that “AMERICA NEEDS A SUPERHERO! I will be making a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT tomorrow. Thank you!” America is anxiously awaiting this announcement with popcorn at the ready.

UPDATE: Trump’s “Major Announcement” turns out to be just another grift. And a hysterically pitiful one: “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! My official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection is here! These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! […] GET YOUR CARDS NOW! Only $99 each!” His glassy-eyed cult disciples should snap these up. Who wouldn’t want one of these?

  1. Why doesn’t this deranged baboon just sue everyone on the entire planet?? I will gladly reward him with a huge box containing a large assortment of dog and cat excrement as my settlement for his suit against me…/s Is this whole thing with this going to finally be the end of him?? I would not bet on it…. He will never give up until a heart monitor flat lines on him. As long as he does live he will never run out of lies to spew to the whole world. Donald TUMP is one pathetic rotten ball of sewage slime.

    • I just read about polls showing Trump slipping, whether it be his Republican support, or other candidates for president pushing him down. DeSantis for one (UGH!!) Even though DeSantis hasn’t yet officially announced his candidacy. And yes, this baboon, Trump very richly deserves a large assortment of dog and cat excrement. I should send one to him % Mir-a-Lago. Then I could send him another one after he sues me.

      • Thank you, guest… i finally had something to laugh about and enjoy today. This weather we have been having has gotten me feeling a bit down, rainy and foggy, rainy and foggy for the past 4 days, and now it’s raining and very chilly….. TUMP has been slipping steadily in the polls and i hope he slips until his sorry azz hits bottom…. I sure as hell don’t want that DeSatan to get the nomination either. He has strong Fascist tendancies from what i have read about him. I have heard that him and TUMP have been feuding lately too, but i don’t know how true that is. I would love to see a fist fight between him and TUMP held at Mir-a-Lardo, i think DeSatan might win that one. TUMP would file a lawsuit against him the next day…..That is as certain as the sun rising every day….

  2. Doesn’t filing a lawsuit require lawyers? And doesn’t Trumpler always stiff his lawyers, like he stiffs anyone who works for him? No lawyer would work pro-bono for him, because he never wins. So how does he keep filing these idiotic ego-caressing suits?

  3. Trump has been involved in about 4000 lawsuits in his career. Of course he’s suing the Pulitzer board. You’d think judges would get sick of it though.

    • If the Pulitzer folks just give him a Pulitzer Prize for the Most Moronic Lawsuit, then he’d go away happy, ego duly caressed, and never bother them again. Maybe.

  4. He’s giving us a good look at what America would be like under (shudder) his command again. Miss Maya Angelou said that if someone tells you who they are, believe them! Trump openly tells us there will be no free press, no one will be able to write an article that’s unfavorable to him, he will jail anyone who displeases him, and he will tear up the constitution I, for one, have no doubt this is precisely how he would “rule.”

    • Yup, and sadly, Adrienne, there’s an entire political party which would support every Fascist move he made.

      • You’ve made a very important point, jarvis+wellesley. It may be hard to believe but the scariest thing about Trump’s term as POTUS wasn’t Trump. It was the fact that virtually every Republican member of Congress unquestioningly and unhesitatingly fell into jackbooted lockstep behind Trump, no matter what he did or said. Even worse is the ease and ready willingness with which Repugnacans readily adopted Trump’s “methodologies” – his ceaseless lying (even in the face of video evidence); his abjectly false claims of criminal activity by his adversaries; his pre-emptive claims of election “fraud” and engagement in criminal acts to overturn lawful elections despite a complete absence of evidence.

People – and this includes elected Democrats and those working with the DNC – need to stop focusing solely on Trump and pay more attention to the poison being disseminated by the legions of unquestioningly loyal GOP members.

        • Absolutely right! If Trumpler’s not charged now with his crimes, with all the evidence stacked against him, then there’s no lesson for all his sycophants and imitators that crime doesn’t and shouldn’t pay. If he’s allowed to walk now, it will show that our democracy’s too toothless to defend itself against them.

    • I agree, that is EXACTLY how he would rule. Also, look for millions of deaths to citizens that are not rich. He is evil and rotten to the core. His lifestyle and eating habits suggest he should have died years ago…but we couldn’t be that lucky…With him stile alive, he can and will be a dangerous threat to all of us common people that aren’t rich and powerful…many of us will be homeless and dead.
