WTF? Fox News Traitor Tucker Carlson Takes Russia’s Side Against Democracy and America

Anyone who has been paying attention to the Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, for any length of time, may have thought that he had already achieved peak assholiness. He recently produced a crocumentary asserting that the January 6th insurrection was “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI. He has argued against critical race theory, even while admitting that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And he has been a staunchly pro-COVID voice, spreading blatant lies about the virus and vaccines.

However, Carlson is not one to rest on his loathsome laurels. And he proved it on Wednesday night’s episode of his Fox News Hour of Sour Demagoguery. Carlson conducted an interview with Republican Rep. Mike Turner wherein he twisted U.S. diplomacy and American principles entirely out of shape (video below). He questioned why the U.S. would stand with Ukraine against the threat of Russian aggression. Carlson asked Turner…

“Why would we pick Ukraine’s side and not Russia’s side? It’s a sincere question. If you’re looking for the American perspective, why? Who’s got the energy reserve? Who’s the major player in world affairs? Who’s the potential counterbalance against China, which is the actual threat? Why would we take Ukraine’s side? Why wouldn’t we have Russia’s side. I’m totally confused.”

Whereupon, Turner had to remind Carlson that…

“Ukraine is a democracy. Russia is an authoritarian regime that is seeking to impose its will upon a validly elected democracy in Ukraine. And we’re on the side of democracy. […] We’re for democracy. We’re for liberty. We are not for authoritarian regimes coming in and changing borders by tanks. Russia isn’t showing up on the border with ballot boxes. They’re showing up on the border with tanks. And that’s why we need to make certain that we’re on the side of democracy.”

Carlson had a pitifully unconvincing response, saying that, “Yeah, I guess I’m for democracy in other countries. I guess.” Then he stuck with his original answer anyway. It’s good to know that Carlson’s lukewarm appreciation for democracy doesn’t interfere with his anti-Americanism. Especially coming from someone who recently embraced the tyrannical dictator of Hungary, Vikto Orban. And Carlson has also been a avid believer in Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. So he is clearly no fan of valid elections.

So why would Carlson leap to Russia’s defense in this debate? Well, remember that Russia eagerly helped the Trump campaign in 2016 and 2020. Ukraine, on the other hand, was threatened by Trump with the loss of military aid if they didn’t try to dig up dirt on Joe Biden. Trump was impeached for that. But Ukraine declined to help Trump steal another election.

So it isn’t hard to see why Carlson is pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine. Never mind that Russia is a totalitarian foe and Ukraine is a democratic ally. Since Russia provided Trump with assistance, while Ukraine maintained their independence and integrity, that was all that Carlson needed to choose to back Russia and Trump’s BFF Vladimir Putin. It’s just further evidence of the treasonous acts of Carlson and his confederates at Fox News.

As Usual, Trump’s Veteran’s Day Message is an Anti-America Rant that is All About Himself

Donald Trump (aka Cadet Bone Spurs) has a long history of disparaging America’s Armed Forces and the people who serve in them. It goes back to his own record as a five-time draft dodger during the Vietnam War. And it was revealed during his presidential campaign in 2015 with his insulting denial that John McCain, and every POW, were not war heroes, because Trump “likes people who weren’t captured.”

Donald Trump, Saving Cadet Bone Spurs

On this Veteran’s Day Trump posted a video (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that reaffirms his callous disregard for the people who serve in the U.S. military. In a brief recorded statement the malignant narcissist couldn’t help but turn his message into an anti-America rant with allusions to his deranged belief that he is going to be restored to power (video below):

“On this Veteran’s Day I’d like to pay tribute to all of the incredible people – and you are indeed incredible people – who served so well and so strong and so powerfully in the United States Armed Forces. We love you, our nation respects you, the world respects you, and we will come back. Our country has gone through a lot. The last period of time has been very, very tough, watching what you had to watch. But our country will be back and will be back stronger than ever. Happy Veterans Day.”

So Trump couldn’t just praise veterans on this day set aside to celebrate their service and their sacrifice. He had to add his self-serving criticisms of the current state of the military and his not-so-thinly-veiled references to “coming back” like the wingnut messiah he believes himself to be. Trump can never let anything or anyone steal attention from his assholiness.

For the record, Trump has spent much of his time in political life bashing the military. Just last month he declared that “Everything is falling apart, our military is in shambles [and that] The USA “is very sadly going to hell!” And after a tragic accidental killing of Afghan civilians, Trump blamed “our incompetent Generals,” who were the same generals in charge during his term.

Trump also insinuated that soldiers suffering from PTSD were weak and “couldn’t handle” the hardships of war. And he famously ripped them off with a phony telethon staged as a flimsy excuse to chicken out of a presidential debate.

Perhaps worst of all was his attempt to get out of a visit to the Aisne-Marne cemetery in France where Americans soldiers were laid to rest. “Why should I go to that cemetery?” Trump whined. “It’s filled with losers.” He later added that the 1,800 plus marines who died at Belleau Wood were “suckers” for getting killed. “What’s in it for them?” he asked. “They don’t make any money.”

All of this displays the character – or lack thereof – of Donald Trump. And it establishes his disdain for veterans and service members. The video he posted was utterly disingenuous and exploitative. Like everything else he does, it was intended only to advance his own egomaniacal interests. That’s unfortunate for the veterans he is maligning. They deserve so much more on this Veteran’s Day.

Liz Cheney Rips Trump and his GOP Cult as ‘Willing Hostages to this Dangerous and Irrational Man’

There is, perhaps, no better representative of rock-ribbed conservatism in the United States Congress than Liz Cheney. She is a staunch advocate for the farthest right wing of the Republican Party, and just within the past week she voted against the Biden infrastructure bill and the John Lewis Voting rights Act.

Donald Trump, Fox News, QAnon

However, to her credit, she has resisted the lure of the cult of Donald Trump and his anti-American, authoritarian aspirations. Cheney had the courage to appear on Fox News and denounce Tucker Carlson as a purveyor of lies. and yesterday she gave a speech at a GOP fundraiser that was as good, or better, than any trouncing of Trump by the most fervent Democrat (although Adam Schiff sure scores points here). It was so good that it hardly needs any commentary. So enjoy (video below)

“At this moment, when it matters most, we are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before. A former president who’s attempting to unravel the foundations of our Constitutional Republic, aided by political leaders who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.

“Just last night, former president Trump was invited by House Republican leaders to be the keynote speaker at our annual large fundraising dinner. At the dinner, he reportedly said once again that the insurrection was on November 3rd, and that the events on January 6th – when a violent mob invaded the Capitol in an effort to overturn the will of the American people and stop the constitutional process of the counting of electoral votes – that those events were a protest. That they were justified.

“Political leaders who sit silent in the face of these false and dangerous claims are aiding the former president who is at war with the rule of law and the Constitution. When our constitutional order is threatened, as it is now, rising above partisanship is not simply an aspiration. It is an obligation. An obligation of every one of us.

“I love my party. I love its history. I love its principles. But I love my country more. I know this nation needs a Republican Party that is based on truth. One that puts forward our ideals and our policies based on substance. One that is willing to reject the former president’s lies. One that is willing to tell the truth. But millions of Americans have been tragically misled by former president Trump, who continues, to this day, to use language that he knows provoked violence on January 6th.”

What she said. Cheney’s righteous condemnation of Trump and her Republican colleagues is both laudable and troubling. It’s laudable for its honesty and clear sightedness about Trump and the threat that he posed and continues to pose. It’s troubling because it exposes the depths to which the Republican Party has fallen.

The Republican Party is morally bankrupt and irredeemably corrupt. They are worse than “willing hostages.” While they may feel pressure to succumb to Trumpism, they are actually active accomplices.

Cheney acknowledges that when she says that they are “aiding the former president who is at war with the rule of law and the Constitution.” And she is spot on when she observes that he continues to “use language that he knows provoked violence.” And if he isn’t brought to justice he will get his demented wish for even more violence, and worse, an end to the American experiment in democracy.

Adam Schiff Deftly Dodges Trump Shill’s Ambush and Puts the Focus on Trump’s Crimes

Rep. Adam Schiff has long been a thorn in Donald Trump’s side. As the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, as the lead manager in Trump’s first impeachment, and now as a member of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. Schiff has an insider’s experience of Trump’s anti-democratic crime spree, and a vast store of detailed knowledge and legal expertise.

Donald Trump, Adam Schiff

Schiff is currently promoting his new book, Midnight in Washington: How We Almost Lost Our Democracy and Still Could,” that provides his unique perspective of Trump’s attempted coup. He appeared on ABC’s The View Tuesday (video below) to discuss the book and the harrowing events that it describes.

Part of the segment included questioning by guest co-host, Morgan Ortagus. She was a contributor at Fox News who Trump tapped to be a spokesperson for the State Department. From the beginning, Ortagus was intent on maligning Schiff. She led off with a line of questioning that insinuated he was responsible for falsehoods contained in the infamous Steele dossier. But Schiff wasn’t having it:

Ortagus: We know last week the main source of the [Steele] dossier was indicted by the FBI for lying about most of the key claims in that dossier. Do you have any reflections on your role in promoting this to the American people?
Schiff: Well, first of all, whoever lied to the FBI or lied to Christopher Steele should be prosecuted, and they are. And unlike in the Trump administration, if they’re convicted, they should go to jail and not be pardoned. So Donald Trump pardoned Roger Stone for lying. He pardoned Michael Flynn for lying. If people lied to the FBI they should go to jail.

But at the beginning of the Russia investigation I said that any allegations should be investigated. We couldn’t have known, for example, people were lying to Christopher Steele. So it was proper to investigate them. And let’s not forget what we learned in that investigation. We learned that the Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was giving internal polling data, campaign polling data, to Russian intelligence while Russian intelligence was helping the Trump campaign.

First of all, Igor Danchenko, one of the sources refenced in the dossier, was not indicted “for lying about most of the key claims in that dossier.” The indictment was only for allegedly false statements about a couple of his sources of information. That said, Schiff correctly noted that anyone who lies to the FBI should be held accountable. Then he cites Trump associates who confessed to lying as examples. And he makes the point that Trump pardoned those admitted felons.

Schiff continued with a reminder of the crimes that Trump’s cohorts, including his campaign chairman Paul Manafort, were found guilty of. And he didn’t let Trump off the hook for requesting and receiving Russian campaign help. That led to Ortagus actually accusing Schiff of “spread[ing] Russian disinformation.” To which Schiff replied…

Schiff: Well, I completely disagree with your premise. It’s one thing to say that allegations should be investigated, and they were. It’s another to say that we should have foreseen in advance that some people were lying to Christopher Steele, which is impossible, of course, to do. But let’s not use that as a smoke screen to somehow shield Donald Trump’s culpability for inviting Russia to help him in the election, which they did; for trying to coerce Ukraine into helping him in the next election, which he did; into inciting an insurrection, which he did. None of that is undercut, none of that serious misconduct is in any way diminished by the fact that people lied to Christopher Steele.
Ortagus: No, I think just your credibility is.
Schiff: Well, I think the credibility of your question is in doubt.

Once again, Schiff flipped the tables on Ortagus and used her slanderous question to reiterate Trump’s treachery with respect to Russia, Ukraine, and January 6th. Schiff has distinguished himself as an articulate prosecutor who displayed that talent in his summation as impeachment manager. Making a plea for a guilty Senate verdict, Schiff asked senators to remember why America’s Founders included impeachment as a remedy in the Constitution. It was…

“For a man who would sell out his country for a political favor. For a man who would threaten the integrity of our elections. For a man who would invite foreign interference in our affairs. For a man who would undermine our national security and that of our allies. For a man like Donald J. Trump.”

COVID Gets Even Redder, While Trump Worries More About Windmills (Not) Killing Birds

An exhaustive analysis of COVID-19 data by David Leonhardt of the New York Times has found that the efforts of right-wing media like Fox News to deceive their audience about the coronavirus have been remarkably effective. The result confirms previous studies that show that those who rely on Fox News for information are significantly more at risk for contracting COVID than those who do not.

Donald Trump, Coronavirus

The article in the Times is validation that trusting Fox News is dangerous to your health, as well as that of your family, your community, and your nation. Leonhardt goes into detail in the article, but he summarized some of his findings in a handy Twitter thread beginning here (with some key points following):

“The true explanation is straightforward: The vaccines are remarkably effective at preventing severe COVID, and almost 40 percent of Republican adults remain unvaccinated, compared with about 10 percent of Democratic adults, per @KHNews polls.”

“As a result, COVID deaths have been concentrated in counties outside of major metropolitan areas. Many of these are in red states, while others are in red parts of blue or purple states.”

“This situation is a tragedy, in which irrational fears about vaccine side effects have overwhelmed rational fears about a deadly virus.”

“It stems from disinformation — promoted by right-wing media, like Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, the Sinclair Broadcast Group and online sources.”

“[C]onservative Americans will probably continue to suffer an outsized amount of unnecessary illness and death.”

This is indeed a tragic situation. And the problem is not limited to conservatives and Fox News viewers. Their stubborn refusal to accept the science has the potential of allowing the virus to mutant into new variants that are vaccine resistant. So they are putting everyone else at risk to satisfy their partisan blindness and selfishness. What’s more, they are preventing businesses and schools from fully opening up so that we can return to some semblance of normalcy.

In the meantime, Donald Trump has not even mentioned this matter, even though it is affecting his supporters more than anyone else. But he did have the time to tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that energy generating windmill turbines are “Destroying our oceans, landscapes, and birds!” He forgot to mention his ludicrous belief that they also cause cancer.

Trump’s tweet linked to a three week old article in the New York Times about the Biden administration’s plans “to build 30,000 megawatts of offshore wind in the United States by 2030.” The article said nothing about birds. That was another of Trump’s tropes that has no basis in reality, but which he frequently repeats to keep his cult disciples in a perpetual state of fear. For the record, according to the Sierra Club

“Estimates of up to a million or more birds a year are killed by turbines in the US, but that is far exceeded by collisions with communications towers (6.5 million); power lines, (25 million); windows (up to 1 billion); and cats (1.3 to 4.0 billion); and those lost due to habitat loss, pollution and climate change (American Bird Conservancy, Nature). Even if there were twenty times more wind turbines, enough to supply the US with electricity, the number of birds killed, assuming no improvement in wind turbine design, would be about 10 million–still far less than most other causes of bird deaths.”

So apparently Trump is more worried about his false notion that windmills are killing an excessive amount of birds, than he is about COVID actually killing people – particularly Republicans, the people who he purports to represent and who worship him. It’s a grotesque mangling of priorities that rests on a foundation of lies.

And if that weren’t bad enough, Trump and his GOP confederates are so utterly incapable of responding to the recent good news for Democrats and America (infrastructure bill, jobs report, climate conference, COVID decline), that they are resorting to attacking (the fictional) Big Bird of Sesame Street for having the audacity to educate children about vaccines. There goes his pretense about caring for birds.

Trump Whines that Threats He’d Start a 3rd Party are ‘Fake News’ Because, Of Course He Does

It’s another Monday morning and another day of cranky kvetching by America’s biggest crybaby, Donald Trump. Once again he is wallowing in victimhood at the hands of the meanies in the media, or as he refers to call them so tediously, “fake news.”

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

On this occasion Trump was triggered by an ABC News story previewing one of the revelations in an upcoming book by veteran journalist Jonathan Karl. In the book, Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show,” Trump spoke with the Republican National Committee chair, Ronna McDaniel, and delivered a bold threat. According to Karl…

“In an angry conversation on his final day as president, Donald Trump told the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee he was leaving the GOP and creating his own political party — and that he didn’t care if the move would destroy the Republican Party. […] Trump only backed down when Republican leaders threatened to take actions that would have cost Trump millions of dollars.”

In response, Trump released a statement (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) making a predictable and familiar charge that…

“It’s a totally made up and fabricated story, it’s Fake News. Jonathan Karl is a third-rate reporter working for ABC Non-News. ABC Non-News and 3rd rate reporter Jonathan Karl have been writing Fake News about me from the beginning of my political career.”

Karl’s book says that he has “two sources with direct knowledge of these events.” They report that McDaniel “called to wish [Trump] farewell [and that] It was a very un-pleasant conversation.” Elaborating on this, Karl wrote that…

“Donald Trump was in no mood for small talk or nostalgic goodbyes. He got right to the point. He told her he was leaving the Republican Party and would be creating his own political party. The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., was also on the phone. The younger Trump had been relentlessly denigrating the RNC for being insufficiently loyal to Trump. In fact, at the January 6 rally before the Capitol Riot, the younger Trump all but declared that the old Republican Party didn’t exist anymore.”

Karl also related the following exchange between Trump and McDaniel:

“I’m done,” Trump told McDaniel. “I’m starting my own party.”
“You cannot do that,” McDaniel told Trump. “If you do, we will lose forever.”
“Exactly. You lose forever without me,” Trump responded. “I don’t care.” […]
“This is what Republicans deserve for not sticking up for me.”

According to Karl, Trump eventually backed down after McDaniel issued threats of her own. She told Trump that if he left the Party it would cease to pay his quite substantial legal bills. And even more troubling for Trump, the Party would withhold the campaign’s email list containing some forty million Trump supporters who were worth millions of dollars to Trump politically and personally. That was the kicker.

Naturally Trump is dismissing all of this in his customary fashion by throwing a tantrum. But he had no objections Karl’s reporting back in June when a passage from the book was released that revealed what his Attorney General, Bill Barr, had to say about his baseless claims of election fraud. Barr confessed that…

“My attitude was: It was put-up or shut-up time. If there was evidence of fraud, I had no motive to suppress it. But my suspicion all the way along was that there was nothing there. It was all bull—-.”

Trump’s fantasies about starting a third party would have zero chance of success. Unless his definition of success is damaging the Republican Party, which he is doing anyway. But whether or not Trump leaves the Party, there are plenty of long-time members who are leaving because they can no longer stomach Trump’s lies and disloyalty to the nation. Which is precisely how the majority of the American people feel. In the end, we don’t care if he goes with the GOP or his own party. We just want him to go.

Liz Cheney Calls Tucker Carlson’s ‘False Flag’ Lies ‘Un-American’ and ‘Dangerous’ – On Fox News!

Last week the Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, outdid himself by presenting an elaborate propaganda video about Donald Trump’s January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. Carlson’s crocumentary, “Patriot Purge” (or as CNN’s Jim Acosta retitled it, “Proud Boy Porn”,) was riddled with flagrant falsehoods and nauseating exaltations of the seditious Capitol rioters as heroes.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, STFU

Carlson sought to absolve Trump’s violent crusaders, and even worse, to justify them, by alleging that the whole thing was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI, something he has been yammering about for months. And his Fox News produced propaganda pic was universally rejected as garbage.

On Sunday Carlson took another hit from a staunchly conservative member of Congress, Liz Cheney. She was interviewed by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday where she expressed her opinion of Carlson’s wankery:

Wallace: There is talk now that January 6th was a “false flag” operation. that it was a case of liberals and the “deep state” setting up conservatives and Trump supporters. Is there any truth to that?
Cheney: None at all. You know, it’s the same kind of thing that you hear from people who say that 9/11 was an inside job, for example. It is un-American to be spreading those kinds of lies, and they are lies. And we have an obligation that goes beyond partisanship, an obligation that we share – Democrats and Republicans together – to make sure that we understand every single piece of the facts about what happened that day and to make sure the people who did it are held accountable. And to call it a false flag operation and spread those kind lies is dangerous.

Cheney has been a reliable voice of reason from within a Republican Party dominated by Trump cult followers and brazenly dishonest purveyors of partisan bullpucky. She is a member of the House Select Committee investigating January 6th, and she rejects Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him.

Cheney didn’t mince words in her appraisal of Carlson. She openly and aptly denounced him as “un-American” and “dangerous.” That said, it is still a bit jarring to hear her righteous condemnation of Carlson, and to hear it on the same network that sponsors his deceitful disinformation. Cheney couldn’t have chosen a better platform to reveal Carlson’s scumbaggery. Carlson, however, is an easily triggered crybaby who frequently lashes out at his critics. So it will be interesting to see if he attacks Fox News or Chris Wallace for hosting this interview.

On the same program, White House Senior Advisor, Cedric Richmond, was asked by Fox’s Bill Hemmer about a blatantly partisan question that Fox’s Peter Doocy asked President Biden. Doocy’s question callously suggested that migrant families might be incentivized to come to the U.S. and have their children taken away in order to get compensated financially. Richmond replied that…

“The question was from a Fox reporter asking about whether compensation for being separated and losing a child would be an incentive to come to America. And what he was saying, that was an absurd question from the beginning. No one is coming somewhere to lose their child, to be separated from their loved one. And the question is so insensitive, disrespectful that that’s what he was commenting to. And I would ask the question of you, whether you support that?”

So Fox News got called out on Fox News twice in the same day. That isn’t going to make much difference in the great scheme of things. Fox will continue to be the primary media mouthpiece for ultra-rightist politicians and policies. But it’s encouraging to see these rare crumbs of truth slip through their conservative filter from time to time.

Trump Celebrates Poll Showing Half of Republicans Unsure or Don’t Want Him to Run in 2024

One of the surest signs of political desperation is when a losing candidate feels compelled to promote news that actually reaffirms their status as a loser. And as America’s Biggest Loser, that’s a position that Donald Trump can reliably be counted on to assume regardless of how it fits in with reality.

Donald Trump

On Saturday morning Trump posted a message on Twitter (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that sought to attack his arch enemy, Joe Biden, who crushed him in the presidential election last November. Trump still hasn’t recovered from that humiliating defeat by a candidate that he maligned as a senile socialist. Ever since, Trump has been lashing out impotently in a futile attempt to shore up his wounded ego.

The tweet contained a link to a rabidly partisan website and the headline: “New poll: 44% of Democrats, Democratic-leaning independents don’t want Biden in 2024” The poll was done by the Marist Institute for NPR and PBS. And while it did find that 44% of Democrats said that they would prefer another presidential candidate in 2024, Trump left out some other relevant findings in the poll. Such as the fact that half of Republicans aren’t exactly anxious to see another Trump candidacy. The poll found that 35% don’t want him to run, and another 14% aren’t sure.

And that’s the poll that Trump thought it would be a good idea to pass on to his cult followers? Clearly he doesn’t have any actual good news to present. Especially this week that saw exceedingly positive job growth, and the passage of an infrastructure bill that he had promised (and failed) to pass for four years. Biden and Pelosi did it in ten months.

This new poll confirms prior surveys on the viability of Trump as 2024 presidential candidate. According to a survey by Pew Research last month, 54% of Republicans don’t want Trump to run in 2024:

“About one-in-five Republicans (22%) say that while they would like Trump to continue to be a major political figure in the United States, they would prefer he use his stature to support another presidential candidate who shares his views in the 2024 election rather than run for office himself. About a third of Republicans (32%) say they would not like Trump to remain a national political figure for many years to come.”

The truth is that Trump is at his dimwits end and is resorting to sh*t-posting whatever he can scrape from the barrel bottom to disparage Biden and Democrats. Along with this poll tweet, his spokes-shill also tweeted that “Marxists try to take Federal Reserve as Biden weighs whether to reappoint Powell: Devine,” and that “Trump Rips McAuliffe During Tele-Rally for Youngkin,” and that “China wants more than to beat us in trade—they want to take our place in the world.” At this point it won’t be long before he tweets that Biden is a poopyhead and threatens to hold his breath until we make him president again.

Crybaby Trump Lashes Out Incoherently at Democrats Who Are Making America Great Again

Poor Donald Trump. He’s stuck in his Twitterless world being forced to watch helplessly as President Biden continues to preside over a nation that is making significant strides under difficult circumstances. Trump hates to see the country enjoying successes that he was never competent enough to achieve. So he behaves like colicky toddler throwing a pathetic tantrum that only makes him look worse.

Donald Trump

After the disastrous four years that Trump spent occupying the White House, America is moving forward. The Labor Department announced that 531,000 jobs were added in October. And the unemployment rate dipped to 4.6 percent. Also, the jobs numbers for August and September were both revised upward.

Contrast that with Trump’s record as the first president to have a net loss of jobs during a single presidential term since the Great Depression. His job creation record, even before the pandemic, averaged about 187,000 per month. Biden is doing better than three times that. And that’s while the pandemic is still a prominent drag on the economic recovery. Although Biden’s efforts to get more Americans vaccinated has produced a significant decline in infections, hospitalizations, and deaths. Which in turn has benefited businesses and workers.

So naturally, Trump, who spends his waning days rooting against America, which he says is “going to hell,” has unleashed another Twitter rant via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill. Liz Harrington. He whined that

“The Democrat politicians of this Country spend 99% of their time fighting Republicans and no time thinking about making our Country great.”

Once again, Trump is projecting his own psychological sickness onto others. He’s the one who can’t stop bashing his political foes. It’s the Democrats who have been working tirelessly on behalf of the American people on the issues that impact their lives. And despite getting nothing but flack from Trump and his Republican obstructionists, they are making real progress. But Trump wasn’t finished ranting…

“If [Democrats] would spend half of that energy fighting China, Russia, Iran and even the European Union, where the U.S. just dropped all tariffs, we would go back to greatness again.”

So now Trump wants the U.S. to fight “China, Russia, Iran,” and even our allies, “the European Union?” How exactly would that help to make America great? Trump is consistent, at least. He has always been a force for antagonism and conflict. And it proved to be a dreadful strategy that only brought failure during his term. And he continued…

“Instead, [Democrats] are weak with everybody except conservatives. Our Country has become the laughingstock of the world!”

It’s generous of Trump to compliment Democrats for being effective against conservatives. However, his complaints about the nation’s status in the world are, as usual, utterly divorced from reality. A recent survey of 46 countries found that…

“Six months into Joe Biden’s presidency, approval ratings of U.S. leadership around the world had largely rebounded from the record-low ratings observed during the Trump administration.”

Trump was undeniably a stain on America’s reputation. But we have been redeemed by Biden’s competency and compassion in less than a year. Which you know is gnawing at the former guy. Nevertheless, Trump can be relied upon to keep up his factless ravings because, what else does have to do? This is his life now. Unfortunately, it’s ours too until he runs out of gasbaggery.

Newsmax and OAN Added to Smartmatic’s Billion Dollar Lawsuit for Pushing Trump’s ‘Big Lie’

The fallout from Donald Trump’s relentless crusade to spin his humiliating loss to Joe Biden as a “rigged” election continues to deliver consequences to those aiding and abetting its dissemination. It has already resulted in a multibillion dollar defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News, Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, as well as Mike Lindell, the infamous MyPillow Guy.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Fake

Dominion’s lawsuit wasn’t the only one seeking to hold Trump’s “Big Lie” spreaders accountable for their reckless slander. Earlier this year Smartmatic, a voting software company, filed a similar lawsuit against Fox News, along with their accomplices Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, and Jeanine Pirro. Their filing is a thrilling must read that outlines the depravity Fox & Company. And now Smartmatic has invited more guests to their legal party. CNN is reporting that Smartmatic “is now adding Newsmax and One America News Network to the list of defendants.” Their filing charges that…

“Despite claims to provide viewers with honest, unbiased reporting, these outlets victimized Smartmatic by spreading false information about the company following last year’s election, all in their efforts to increase viewership and revenue.” [and that…]

“The lawsuit charged that Newsmax ‘published dozens of reports indicating that Smartmatic participated in a criminal conspiracy to rig and steal the 2020 U.S. election and that its technology and software were used to switch votes from former President Trump to now President Biden.'” [and that…]

“The first time it happened could be a mistake. The second, third, fourth and fiftieth times it happened were intentional choices,” the lawyers wrote. “OANN had every opportunity to do the right thing after the 2020 election for President and Vice President of the United States. It could have reported the truth. Instead, OANN chose to do the wrong thing every time. It reported a lie.”

There has been some blowback suffered by the “Big Lie” propagandists. Fox News has had to alter their programming to avoid further legal liability. And also here. Trump’s lead libelist, Rudy Giuliani, has been banned from Fox News. Nevertheless, Trump is still trying to bully Fox into reporting his election falsehoods. Meanwhile, Trump is slobbering all over OAN for sucking up to him:

“You guys are amazing,” he drooled. “So many people are watching what you’re doing. The election fraud of 2020 is the single biggest thing they want to watch, and other networks don’t put it on because they’re afraid to put it on.”

However, even OAN has exhibited some nervousness about stepping out too far onto Trump’s limp limb. In February they ran a hysterical disclaimer prior to airing a crockumentary by Lindell that promised to provide “Absolute Proof” of voter fraud (It didn’t).

It will be interesting to see how they behave now that Smartmatic has named them in their lawsuit. But we can easily predict how Trump will behave. He has always been – and is now – incapable of rising above his infantile and hostile tendencies. So, unfortunately, it will be more of the same going forward. And hopefully the future will see Trump himself added to the list of defendants.
