Trump Goes Bonkers When Fiona Hill Calls the January 6th Insurrection ‘Trump Pulling a Putin’

In a revealing interview with New York Times Magazine, Fiona Hill opened up about her tenure with the Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations. And to no one’s surprise, there were some stark differences that presented themselves with the openly authoritarian, and frighteningly ignorant, term of Donald Trump.

The interview covered a lot of territory, but with regard specifically to Trump, there are some truly disturbing assessments of his incompetence and devotion to only his own personal interests. Among Hill’s remarks were the following…

“In the course of his presidency, indeed, Trump would come more to resemble Putin in political practice and predilection than he resembled any of his recent American presidential predecessors.”

And that…

“I saw the thread. The thread connecting the Zelensky phone call to Jan. 6, and I remembered how, in 2020, Putin had changed Russia’s Constitution to allow him to stay in power longer. This was Trump pulling a Putin.”

And that…

“We’ve been the gold standard of democratic elections. All of that will be rolled back If Trump returns to power after claiming the only way he could ever lose is if someone steals it from him. It’ll be more than diplomatic shock. I think it would mean the total loss of America’s leadership position in the world arena.”

Hill is not the first or only patriot to recognize these risks that Trump placed in America’s path. But she is someone whose stature in the White House, and whose accumulated experience and knowledge of Russia and Eastern Europe are impeccable.

So naturally, once someone told Trump about Hill’s remarks (because he surely didn’t read the article himself), he lashed out with unbridled fury at her for daring to be appropriately critical of him. Trump posted on Twitter (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that…

“Fiona Hill is a Radical Left RINO, but the word RINO is too good. She doesn’t know the first thing she’s talking about. If she didn’t have the accent she would be nothing. During the Impeachment Hoax #1, she had no credibility, obviously, because we won unanimously. Never listened to her, I hardly knew her at all. She knew nothing about me, I knew nothing about her, and I liked it that way.”

Much of that harangue is just more of the tiresome apoplexy that Trump disgorges whenever somebody treats him with less than the total reverence to which he feels entitled. So of course Hill is a “radical,” and a “leftist,” and a “RINO.” And she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, despite her years of experience working for presidents of both parties. And as usual, Trump sinks to judging her on irrelevant attributes such as her accent. He’s probably also troubled that she isn’t an eighteen year old blonde.

Among the things that make this outburst particularly ludicrous is Trump’s assertion that he “won unanimously” the first time he was impeached. Being impeached is not in any way a victory, and he was impeached twice. And he’s apparently only counting the votes of the bootlicking Republicans in Congress who were too cowardly to uphold the law and democracy.

Trump also goes off the deep end with his claim that he “hardly knew [Hill] at all.” He’s confessing that he “knew nothing” about the senior director of Russian and European affairs in his own National Security Council. That’s an admission of serious dereliction of duty. Then again, why would he need to know anything about her when he had a direct line to Vladimir Putin, who was calling the shots in his White House?

It seems a day doesn’t go by when Trump isn’t revealing something embarrassing, horrifying, or incriminating about himself. And today is no exception. He continues to be a bundle of severely frayed nerves that are short-circuiting and threatening to ignite more hostilities and division. The sooner that he is indicted, prosecuted and convicted for his multitude of crimes, the better off our nation – and world – will be.

Former Anchor Chris Wallace Blasts Fox ‘News’ Programming that ‘Became Unsustainable’

The degree of disinformation that is disseminated every hour of every day by Fox News has been well documented. As a network that was concocted by an ultra-rightist media baron (Rupert Murdoch) and a Republican political operative (Roger Ailes), no rational person ever thought that it would be anything other than a mouthpiece for conservative propaganda.

However, few people imagined just how far over the edge Fox News would eventually go to distort the truth and defile journalism. In recent weeks Fox News has actually sided with America’s enemies. With slimy shitstirrers like Tucker Carlson embracing Vladimir Putin, and white-wingers like Laura Ingraham attacking Ukrainian refugees, it’s no wonder that Russia’s foreign minister effusively praises the network.

The New York Times has now published an interview of former Fox News anchor, Chris Wallace. He was with Fox for nearly twenty years. This year he announced that he would be joining CNN to host a show on CNN+, their new streaming channel that will debut this month. He said at the time that his reasons for ditching Fox included some of the repugnant positions taken by his colleagues. The Times interview began by quoting Wallace saying that “I just no longer felt comfortable with the programming at Fox.” He elaborated…

“‘I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion,’ Mr. Wallace said in his first extensive interview about his decision to leave. ‘But when people start to question the truth — Who won the 2020 election? Was Jan. 6 an insurrection? — I found that unsustainable.'”

[…and…]

“Wallace also acknowledged that he felt a shift at Fox News in the months after Donald J. Trump’s defeat in 2020 — a period when the channel ended its 7 p.m. newscast, fired the political editor who helped project a Trump loss in Arizona on election night and promoted hosts like Mr. Carlson who downplayed the Jan. 6 riot.

“He confirmed reports that he was so alarmed by Mr. Carlson’s documentary ‘Patriot Purge’ – which falsely suggested the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a ‘false flag’ operation intended to demonize conservatives – that he complained directly to Fox News management.”

Wallace’s insights about Fox News may have been a long time coming (which he addresses in the Times interview), but they are nevertheless relevant for having been derived from a couple of decades of personal experience. And it was clear that his eyes were being pried open in the months that preceded his divorce from Donald Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation and Republican Propaganda Pusher. For instance…

Wallace praised Biden’s Press Secretary saying “Jen Psaki is one of the best press secretaries ever.”
Wallace was troubled by Lara Logan’s nauseating comparison of Dr. Anthony Fauci to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele.
On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Wallace was asked about interviewing Republicans who still peddle Trump’s “Big Lie” about the 2020 election. Wallace said that, “I have purposefully not had them on, frankly, because I don’t want to hear their crap.”
Trump blasted Wallace for his performance at the Biden/Trump debate in 2020 where Trump couldn’t stop interrupting.
Trump complained preposterously that Wallace is “controlled by the radical left.”
Wallace challenged Trump’s bragging about having passed a mental competency test: “Well, it’s not the hardest test. It shows a picture and it says, ‘what’s that’. And it’s an elephant.”

Sadly, Wallace’s criticisms will fall on deaf ears at Fox News. The network is being held hostage by the worst reprobates on its rat-filled roster. They are obviously too afraid of Tucker Carlson to challenge him and his traitorous rhetoric that has garnered such a devoted following of cult members. Consequently we can expect the parade of lies and anti-American tirades to continue for the foreseeable future.

Big Baby Trump Whines to Fox News that Reporter ‘Maggot’ Haberman Revealed His Poor Potty Training

The severely stunted emotional maturity of Donald Trump continues to be on display with each new temper tantrum he throws. This is the same colicky man-baby who has been whining that “they wanna put me in jail“, just because he has committed so many crimes. But then he has also been known to brag that he is, in his own words, “the most fabulous whiner.”

On Saturday morning Trump phoned in to his favorite Fox News morning propaganda program, Fox and Friends, to unleash another half hour of uninterrupted griping. In this episode the of Trump Tirade he was especially worked up about a book by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman: “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.” Among the early excerpts being released is one about how Trump’s aides found that the White House toilets were sometimes clogged due to papers that he had tried to flush down. This report comes on the heels of the news that he had absconded from the White House with boxes of documents – some of which were classified Top Secret – that he was legally obligated to have turned over to the National Archives.

During the Fox News segment co-host Will Cain prefaced his own question for Trump as being “completely out of touch with the American people.” And as far as Fox News viewers go, that would be true, because Fox has almost entirely ignored the story about Trump’s flagrant violation of the Presidential Records Act. This led to the following exchange (video below):

Cain: The big take away is that you have ripped up papers and flushed them down the toilet. What is your reaction on what you’re hearing on other mainstream media channels in this book by Maggie Haberman?
Trump: Yeah it’s fake news and she’s a fake writer. She got a Pulitzer Prize for Russia, Russia, Russia, and then they found out it was a hoax.

For the record, the Pulitzer Prize winning articles Trump is referencing were never alleged to be hoaxes by anyone other than Trump, who once impotently demanded that the awards be revoked. However, Trump does seem to have moderated his infantile insults aimed at Haberman since yesterday when he called her “Maggot” Haberman. Apparently Trump has an insolent seven year old writing his trash-talking points. But Trump wasn’t finished ranting…

“it’s a totally false story. She made it up. I don’t believe they have sources. Who is going to be a source for that anyway? Who would know that? There is no source. They make it up. You know, they oftentimes, these fake writers like her, they act like they know me, like she knows me. I haven’t spoken to her in a very, very long time. She knows me no better than any other writer. They write books like they know and then they make things like that up. There would be no way of her knowing if it were the fact. There would be no way of her understanding that or knowing it. But it’s a totally fake story made up by her.”

Trump is clearly obsessed. In this brief harangue, he babbled that the story was either “fake” or “made up” nine times. So obviously it’s true. What’s more, he is apparently incapable of grasping the notion that toilets clogged with papers are noticeable, and anyone observing them can report it to the press. There have already been verified reports of Trump illegally ripping up papers and throwing them in the trash or in “burn bags” to be destroyed. The taped-together evidence is currently in the possession of the National Archives.

Trump always telegraphs the fears that he is most consumed with at any given time. He will focus on them intensely and repeat them incessantly. This week that appears to be the case with these stories about his illegal mishandling of classified materials. But his fixations on the 2020 election, or the January 6th insurrection, or his tax and financial fraud, or his sexual predation, or any number of other legal and moral offenses over which he has presided, could rise to the top of his diseased mind on a moments notice. He has so many from which to chose.

New York Times: The Republican Party is Mainstreaming Menace as a Political Tool

Ten months ago Donald Trump sent his StormTrumpers to Capitol Hill with instructions to prevent Congress from carrying out its constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. He instigated the violence against members of Congress and even his own vice-president, Mike Pence. He ignored the pleas for help from the besieged representatives. He deliberately delayed the deployment of law enforcement.

When Trump finally addressed the insurrectionists, he didn’t condemn their hostilities. He told them that he loved them. And nearly a year later he has not wavered from his position condoning and inciting further violence in an unlawful and futile attempt to hijack democracy and anoint himself America’s Dictator.

Friday’s New York Times published an article that delved into the increasingly hostile tendencies of today’s Republican Party. It recognized the growing potential for harm and the ever more brazen calls for violent action by the right against fellow Americans with whom they have political disagreements.

The article began by reporting on a question asked by an attendee of the ultra-conservative Turning Point USA conference. “When do we get to use the guns?” he said as the audience applauded. “How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?” Whereupon Charlie Kirk, the group’s leader, replied that he had to denounce the question. But his reason for doing so was because it allegedly “played into” the nefarious plot of liberals. He didn’t denounce it because it was a disgusting endorsement of political assassination and murder. In other words, his denunciation was purely political, and not remotely moral.

The article went on to describe additional examples of how the right embraced violence. For instance, referring to government health experts advocating wearing masks and getting vaccinated to mitigate the spread of the COVID pandemic, Ohio senate candidate, Josh Mandel, said “When the Gestapo show up at your front door, you know what to do.” And this attitude is becoming more common on the right. According to the Times:

“Polling indicates that 30 percent of Republicans, and 40 percent of people who ‘most trust’ far-right news sources, believe that ‘true patriots’ may have to resort to violence to ‘save’ the country — a statement that gets far less support among Democrats and independents.”

The malevolency of the right was also spelled out in the Times’ article with a particularly appalling section that featured three Republican candidates for office who were endorsed by Trump. Each of them have pending allegations of spousal abuse:

“Herschel Walker, the former professional football player running for Senate in Georgia, is accused of repeatedly threatening his ex-wife’s life, but won Mr. Trump’s endorsement.” [and…]

“Trump also backed the Ohio congressional campaign of Max Miller, who faces allegations of violence from his ex-girlfriend, the former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.” [and…]

“Sean Parnell, a Senate candidate in Pennsylvania who was endorsed by Mr. Trump, appeared in court this week in a custody fight in which his estranged wife accuses him of choking her and physically harming their children.”

These are the sort of people that Trump and his cult disciples find appealing as representatives. They are also fond of Rep. Paul Gosar who recently “tweeted an anime video altered to show him killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and swinging two swords at Mr. Biden.”

This repulsive behavior isn’t limited to Trump and his Republican confederates. Fox News has been excusing and exalting violence as well. And The Times closed their article with an incident directed at Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell. The article said that she…

“…was threatened by men with assault weapons outside her home last year after she was denounced by Tucker Carlson on his Fox News show. […] ‘They ought to try you for treason,’ one caller screamed in a lengthy, graphic voice mail message. ‘I hope your family dies in front of you. I pray to God that if you’ve got any children, they die in your face.'”

If Democrats don’t manage to shore up their support across the country, Republicans could take control of Congress and fill it with people like those described above. They could continue their efforts to undermine democracy, and find a way to coronate Trump. And if they can’t do it by gerrymandering and suppressive legislation, they obviously have no qualms about resorting to violence.

Democrats have a great deal of accomplishments to pitch themselves to the American people. They have successfully rolled out the coronavirus vaccinations. They have passed an infrastructure bill that is an investment in the nation’s future. They are advocating more policies that are broadly popular with majorities of the populace. So they have a positive case for support to make. They better start doing it, and keep it up for the next couple years.

COVID Gets Even Redder, While Trump Worries More About Windmills (Not) Killing Birds

An exhaustive analysis of COVID-19 data by David Leonhardt of the New York Times has found that the efforts of right-wing media like Fox News to deceive their audience about the coronavirus have been remarkably effective. The result confirms previous studies that show that those who rely on Fox News for information are significantly more at risk for contracting COVID than those who do not.

The article in the Times is validation that trusting Fox News is dangerous to your health, as well as that of your family, your community, and your nation. Leonhardt goes into detail in the article, but he summarized some of his findings in a handy Twitter thread beginning here (with some key points following):

The partisan gap in Covid deaths has grown even larger.

October was the fifth consecutive month that the percentage gap between the death rates in heavily Trump counties and heavily Biden counties widened.

“The true explanation is straightforward: The vaccines are remarkably effective at preventing severe COVID, and almost 40 percent of Republican adults remain unvaccinated, compared with about 10 percent of Democratic adults, per @KHNews polls.”

“As a result, COVID deaths have been concentrated in counties outside of major metropolitan areas. Many of these are in red states, while others are in red parts of blue or purple states.”

“This situation is a tragedy, in which irrational fears about vaccine side effects have overwhelmed rational fears about a deadly virus.”

“It stems from disinformation — promoted by right-wing media, like Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, the Sinclair Broadcast Group and online sources.”

“[C]onservative Americans will probably continue to suffer an outsized amount of unnecessary illness and death.”

This is indeed a tragic situation. And the problem is not limited to conservatives and Fox News viewers. Their stubborn refusal to accept the science has the potential of allowing the virus to mutant into new variants that are vaccine resistant. So they are putting everyone else at risk to satisfy their partisan blindness and selfishness. What’s more, they are preventing businesses and schools from fully opening up so that we can return to some semblance of normalcy.

In the meantime, Donald Trump has not even mentioned this matter, even though it is affecting his supporters more than anyone else. But he did have the time to tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that energy generating windmill turbines are “Destroying our oceans, landscapes, and birds!” He forgot to mention his ludicrous belief that they also cause cancer.

Trump’s tweet linked to a three week old article in the New York Times about the Biden administration’s plans “to build 30,000 megawatts of offshore wind in the United States by 2030.” The article said nothing about birds. That was another of Trump’s tropes that has no basis in reality, but which he frequently repeats to keep his cult disciples in a perpetual state of fear. For the record, according to the Sierra Club…

“Estimates of up to a million or more birds a year are killed by turbines in the US, but that is far exceeded by collisions with communications towers (6.5 million); power lines, (25 million); windows (up to 1 billion); and cats (1.3 to 4.0 billion); and those lost due to habitat loss, pollution and climate change (American Bird Conservancy, Nature). Even if there were twenty times more wind turbines, enough to supply the US with electricity, the number of birds killed, assuming no improvement in wind turbine design, would be about 10 million–still far less than most other causes of bird deaths.”

So apparently Trump is more worried about his false notion that windmills are killing an excessive amount of birds, than he is about COVID actually killing people – particularly Republicans, the people who he purports to represent and who worship him. It’s a grotesque mangling of priorities that rests on a foundation of lies.

And if that weren’t bad enough, Trump and his GOP confederates are so utterly incapable of responding to the recent good news for Democrats and America (infrastructure bill, jobs report, climate conference, COVID decline), that they are resorting to attacking (the fictional) Big Bird of Sesame Street for having the audacity to educate children about vaccines. There goes his pretense about caring for birds.

Trump Whines to Pulitzer Board that Awards for Russian Collusion Stories Should Be Rescinded

The former Crybaby-in-Chief, Donald Trump, is resuming his role as, in his own words, “the most fabulous whiner“, with a new letter that he sent to the board of the Pulitzer organization at Columbia University.

Trump had his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), post a tweet that contained the contents of the letter. It was obviously composed by someone whose communications skills exceeded Trump’s third-grade level vocabulary. But that doesn’t mean that it made any sense or wasn’t riddled with lies. The letter began with an impotent demand by Trump:

“I call on the Pulitzer Prize Board to immediately rescind the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting awarded to the staffs of The New York Times and The Washington Post, which was based on false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump Campaign. As has been widely publicized, the coverage was no more than a politically motivated farce which attempted to spin a false narrative that my campaign supposedly colluded with Russia despite a complete lack of evidence underpinning this allegation. […] Specifically, the prize was awarded for a series of articles centered around the now-debunked Russia collusion conspiracy theory.”

Needless to say, the articles published by the New York Times and the Washington Post were not based on false reporting. They were well documented and carefully sourced. It is Trump’s assertions that were “a politically motivated farce” and an “attempt to spin a false narrative.” There is abundant evidence of the Trump campaign’s numerous unsavory connections to Russia. Much of it is catalogued in the book Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, by Michael Isikoff and David Corn.

Trump is trying to relitigate this old issue because of a recent indictment handed down by special counsel, John Durham, who was appointed by Trump’s flunky Attorney General, Bill Barr. However, Durham’s case has nothing to do with the charges of collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign. The indictment only claims that a lawyer who had ties to Hillary Clinton lied to the FBI in a separate matter, and even that charge is so weak that it will likely fail if it is ever brought to court. That, however, didn’t stop Trump from writing in his letter that…

“It has since been confirmed that the allegations were false and I have been exonerated of these charges. Most recently, John Durham’s indictment of former cybersecurity attorney and Hillary Clinton Campaign attorney, Michael Sussman, serves as a damning repudiation of the media’s obsession with the collusion story.”

None of that is true. It has not been confirmed that the allegations against him were false. Nor has he ever been exonerated. In fact, Special Counsel Robert Mueller explicitly wrote in his final report that it was not an exoneration of Trump. And there is no “damning repudiation” in Durham’s indictment. It doesn’t even allege that anything Sussman did wasn’t truthful, only that he allegedly failed to disclose that his law firm represented Clinton. And even that is disputed. Trump’s letter closed saying that…

“Ultimately, my hope is that the recipients of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, The New York Times and The Washington Post, will voluntarily surrender this award in light of recent revelations. However, should they fail to do so, I would expect that you will take the necessary steps to rectify the situation, including stripping the recipients of their prize and retracting the false statements which remain on the Pulitzer website. Without holding the recipients to such a high standard of accountability, the integrity of the Pulitzer Prize namesake stands to be wholly compromised.”

There is no one who is less credible than Donald Trump in maligning the integrity of the Pulitzers, or anyone else. He is famously notorious for having told more than 30,000 lies during his single term occupying the White House. And if Trump is planning on holding his breath until the Pulitzer Board strips the awards from the Times and the Post, he had better have a ventilator and a nurse nearby to resuscitate him when it doesn’t happen.

Trump’s Lawsuit Against His Niece Mary and the NY Times is a Confession that She’s Telling the Truth

Among the psychological disorders that Donald Trump suffers from – in addition to malignant narcissism, antisocial personality disorder, and pathological lying – is one that he has displayed for decades: Hyperlitigious Behavior. Trump is notorious for suing his innumerable perceived enemies on blatantly false grounds. Most of the time he either drops the case or goes down in a humiliating loss.

Trump’s recent courtroom escapades include his ludicrous suit against Twitter, Facebook, and Google. And then there’s his threat to sue (and impeach) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. there is also his pretend action against CNN.

On Monday Trump announced his latest legal misadventure wherein he is suing his niece, Mary Trump, and the New York Times for, as stated in the filing, “tortiously breaching and/or interfering with his contractual rights and otherwise maliciously conspiring against him.” Because paranoid delusions are another of his known psychoses. According to Chris Jansing of NBC News (video below)…

“[Trump is] suing the New York Times and his niece, Mary Trump, over a story about his tax returns. The suit accuses them of engaging in quote ‘an insidious plot to obtain confidential and highly sensitive records which they exploited for their own benefit,’ and puts damages at no less than a $100,000,000. Mary Trump issued a statement, among other things, calling her uncle a quote ‘loser’ [actually “a f**king loser”]. The New York Times [whose story won a Pulitzer Prize] called the suit an attempt to silence news organizations.”

There are multiple obvious absurdities presented by this lawsuit. Beginning with the fact that it is alleging that Mary Trump “smuggled” documents from her own attorney to give to the Times. Of course, all of those documents would actually belong to her as part of her prior litigation. So how could they be characterized as stolen?

Uncle Trump’s suit also claims that Mary Trump had broken a non-disclosure agreement that had already been ruled too vague to enforce. Consequently, there is no merit whatsoever to Trump’s pitiful, poorly drafted, frivolous, nuisance suit. NBC’s Tom winter went on to report that…

“As far as this lawsuit, I think an interesting thing here is that it essentially proves the story. Because if the documents were, in fact, fake, there would be no reason here to sue. The president called this totally fake news when the Times started publishing documents about his tax payments and about his tax returns. So this essentially substantiates their reporting because, otherwise, why would you sue and why would you claim damages?”

Exactly! There can be no claim of damages for the release of truthful materials that were already disclosed in a prior proceeding. But Trump’s lawyers are, as usual, too incompetent to grasp the most basic legal concepts. That’s why some them (i.e. Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell) are facing severe disciplinary actions including suspension of their licenses to practice law.

In all likelihood, Trump’s lawsuit will never see a courtroom. If it isn’t thrown out for lacking merit, Trump himself will drop it. After all, he is only exposing himself to much greater legal liability by pursuing this nonsense.

What’s more, the discovery process would force him to turn over even more incriminating evidence. But in the meantime he is using this to deflect from other stories that he doesn’t want people to hear about. Such as the news that he knew that his lies about election fraud were unfounded even as he was disseminating them. That’s how con artists like Trump play the game.

UPDATE: The judge has dismissed Trump’s case against the New York Times saying that it “fail as a matter of constitutional law,” and he ordered Trump to pay all attorneys’ fees and legal expenses.

Tucker Carlson Exposed as an Anonymous Source Who Sucks Up to the Media He Hates

For years there has been a debate about whether the hacks on Fox News actually believe the lies they tell every day. Some people think they are just spreading disinformation because it advances their right-wing agenda. Others say they are just in it for the money. For the Murdoch family that runs Fox News there’s no doubt that it’s both. But the “entertainers” on the air could swing either way.

However, a new report in the New York Times sheds some light on one of Fox’s primetime propagandists. Their Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, has emerged as the network’s foremost purveyor of unadulterated bullpucky. His strident tirades have run the gamut of conspiracy crackpottery from paranoid delusions that COVID vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you, to reckless accusations that the FBI orchestrated Trump’s Capitol Hill insurrection.

But the common thread that weaves through virtually every screwball notion Carlson disgorges is that the media is behind a coordinated plot to deceive innocent Americans by way of deliberate, manufactured falsehoods. To be fair, if he’s talking about Fox News, he’s 100% right. But suffice to say that he’s aiming his baseless invective everywhere else. And the report in the Times reveals that Carlson has been working both sides of the battle:

“Tucker Carlson of Fox News is a ‘go-to source’ for the US political media he claims to ‘hate’ and has called ‘cowards’ and ‘cringing animals not worthy of respect’ – according to a columnist for the New York Times.”

“Ben Smith, a former editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed News, outed Carlson as ‘the go-to guy for sometimes-unflattering stories about Donald J Trump and for coverage of the internal politics of Fox News (not to mention stories about Mr Carlson himself)’.”

It’s good to know that while Carlson is mouthing off about how evil the establishment media is, he is simultaneously feeding them gossip behind the scenes. Never mind that most of what Carlson would have to divulge is probably untrue. After all, the lawyers for Fox News defended him (successfully) in a defamation suit by insisting that ‘no reasonable person” would believe anything he says.

So what’s in it for Carlson? Aside from the high he gets from pretending that he’s important and people care what he has to say, he also gets to build a shield against potential criticism. The Times reports that one of the news publications that Carlson spills to explained that “If you open yourself up as a resource to mainstream media reporters, you don’t even have to ask them to go soft on you.” Which makes sense. Journalists aren’t in the habit of burning their sources.

Based on his past behavior, it isn’t surprising that Carlson would be so flagrantly two-faced as he lambastes the press at every opportunity. It’s fair to assume that he is likely dishing dirt about his colleagues from one side of his crooked mouth, while sucking up to his handlers for gentle treatment from the other. So Carlson is both a backstabber and a self-serving coward. Who would have thought it?

Trump Delusionally Brags About His Social Media – That Has Cratered Since He Got Banned

The mental meltdown of Donald Trump is continuing – even accelerating – seven months after Joe Biden beat him by more than seven million votes. In all that time Trump has never conceded defeat. But he has incited a violent insurrection and promoted numerous “fraudits” of election results that were already validated by every state election official, Democratic and Republican.

Trump’s relentless and inflammatory promulgation of the “Big Lie” is what got him banned by Twitter and Facebook. That exile from social media has had a noticeably negative effect on Trump, both emotionally and materially. But true to form, Trump refuses to accept reality. On Tuesday he released a statement that illustrates just how badly demented he has become. It said that…

“Trump’s message can reach social media audiences comparable in size to those he commanded while still on Twitter and Facebook, a New York Times analysis published Monday found. In fact, the outlet found 11 of the 89 statements Trump has published online since he was banned from mainstream social media sites have attracted ‘as many likes or shares as the median post before the ban, if not more.'”

First of all, Trump is quoting, without attribution, an excerpt from an article in Forbes Magazine that was reporting on an analysis by the New York Times.

However, it’s apparent that Trump doesn’t have the comprehension skills to understand the meaning of the quote he posted. His own excerpt notes that only 11 of his 89 post-banning statements – or 12.4% -had received comparable attention. Which means that 87.6% failed to hit that threshold. And he’s bragging about that? A more complete, in context quote would have included this…

“Before the ban, the social media post with the median engagement generated 272,000 likes and shares. After the ban, that dropped to 36,000 likes and shares. Yet 11 of his 89 statements after the ban attracted as many likes or shares as the median post before the ban, if not more.”

So over all, Trump’s social media engagement declined 86% after his banning. More importantly, online misinformation about election fraud plunged 73% sans Trump. The Times analysis also looked at his 10 most popular posts with election misinformation before and after the social media bans. “Before the ban,” the Times found, “Trump’s posts garnered 22.1 million likes and shares; after the ban, his posts earned 1.3 million likes and shares across Twitter and Facebook.”

What’s more, the article noted that much of the engagement he currently receives is coming from postings of his statements by right-wing media like Breitbart and Fox News, as well as members of his cult following and his family. But those cannot be counted as new sources of engagement because they were doing the same same thing before he was banned.

Trump has posted several statements claiming that he is happy being ousted from the social media world and that he’s better off for it. But he was certainly upset with it when it happened. He called it an “insult” and “abuse” and and cried that “they shouldn’t be allowed to get away” with it. He was so distraught that he lamented that the didn’t shut down Facebook and Twitter when he was still in office. And he predicted that the social media titans would fail without him.

In the meantime, Trump did proclaim that he would return to social media with his own website that would far surpass Facebook and twitter. But his sorry excuse for a “communications platform” shut down after than less than a month due to low traffic and his embarrassment at being mocked for yet another failure.

Trump’s inability to grasp numbers has been exposed previously by his business failures. There aren’t many people who have had four casinos go bankrupt. He repeatedly misreports easily verifiable numbers for events like his poorly attended inauguration. More recently he lied about “thousands and thousands of boats” showing up to pay him tribute, when the video showed that there were at best a couple of dozen. And he also claimed, without any evidence at all, that “Massive numbers of dead people ‘voted’” for him in 2020, “far greater than anyone has known or seen before.”

Let’s face it, whatever part of Trump’s brain handles numerical information is acutely defective. And along with his pathological compulsion to lie about everything, the only thing we can rely on from Trump with any confidence is unadulterated bullpucky. And that’s exactly what we’ve been getting.

GRIFTER EXPOSED: Trump Campaign Scam Defrauds Hundreds of His Supporters

No one who has paid attention to the career of Donald Trump will be surprised to learn that he is a shameless, recidivist con artist, callously deceiving and stealing from the very people on whose behalf he purports to be fighting. That’s been true throughout his presidency and for decades prior.

Now the New York Times has published an extensive exposé on the corrupt and underhanded practices of Trump’s crooked campaign donation operation. The article goes into great depth documenting the deliberate deception that Trump and his Republican confederates engaged in to fleece his glassy-eyed cult disciples.

The article begins with a heartbreaking example of Trump’s cold-blooded greed:

“Stacy Blatt was in hospice care last September listening to Rush Limbaugh’s dire warnings about how badly Donald J. Trump’s campaign needed money when he went online and chipped in everything he could: $500.

“It was a big sum for a 63-year-old battling cancer and living in Kansas City on less than $1,000 per month. But that single contribution — federal records show it was his first ever — quickly multiplied. Another $500 was withdrawn the next day, then $500 the next week and every week through mid-October, without his knowledge — until Mr. Blatt’s bank account had been depleted and frozen.”

However…

“…what the Blatts believed was duplicity was actually an intentional scheme to boost revenues by the Trump campaign and the for-profit company that processed its online donations, WinRed. Facing a cash crunch and getting badly outspent by the Democrats, the campaign had begun last September to set up recurring donations by default for online donors, for every week until the election.”

The form for making contributions to Trump’s campaign featured a pre-checked box that donors would have to find and uncheck in order to opt out of recurring donations. And even if they saw it, they would have to read through a confusing, fine-print disclaimer to understand the terms.

Consequently, hundreds (thousands?) of donors were purposefully misled. The campaign would eventually be forced to “issue more than 530,000 refunds worth $64.3 million to online donors.” But even considering the inconvenience of refunding so many donors, Trump’s scam enabled him to benefit from what were effectively “interest-free loans from unwitting supporters.” He was even able to “use tens of millions of dollars he raised after the election […] to help cover the refunds he owed.”

The for-profit organization that collected Trump’s donations, WinRed, operates differently from other campaign donation sites such as the Democratic-aligned firm, ActBlue, which is non-profit. According to the Times, WinRed “makes its money by taking 30 cents of every donation, plus 3.8 percent of the amount given. […] WinRed even made money off donations that were refunded by keeping the fees it charged on each transaction.”

This sort of thievery is entirely on brand for Trump. It is, in fact, the hallmark of his unethical business life. It’s certain to remind people of his fraudulent Trump University, his phony, egocentric charity, his blatant lies about raising funds for veterans, and his bankrupt casinos.

And that doesn’t even begin to address the rampant and brazen treachery of his brief political life. Those lies include Trump’s deranged insistence that he won the 2020 presidential election, which he continues to this day. It was that Big Lie that led to Trump inciting the deadly Capitol riots and insurrection that he recently claimed was all “hugs and kisses” and “posed zero threat.” And worst of all, was Trump’s deliberate dishonesty, negligence, and incompetence, with regard to the COVID pandemic that resulted in the deaths of more than half a million Americans. And for all of that and more, there needs to be a moral and legal reckoning for Trump and all of his enablers.
