One of the more pompous predictions of the former guy (Donald Trump) was that without him “all forms of media will tank.”<\/em> Although there is some truth to that in the sense that he attracted eyeballs in the same way that a bloody highway crash does. He insisted on constantly being the center of attention even if that meant making a fool of himself, which he did more often than not.<\/p>\n

However, what Trump failed to predict was the rise of progressive media<\/a><\/strong> and particularly MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Her performance has been a bright light in a media environment that has been shrouded by a global pandemic. During the first quarter of 2021, Maddow rose to become the number one cable news program, beating her competition on the prior leader, Fox News. For part of the quarter Maddow was the number one program on all of cable, not just cable news. She marked that milestone<\/a><\/strong> on March 3rd:<\/p>\n
