From the outset of the nomination Fox News has maliciously maligned Jackson in a campaign of character assassination that was rife with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscorpse.com\/ncWP\/?p=52350\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the same racism and misogyny with which they attack Vice-President Kamala Harris<\/a><\/strong>, another strong, intelligent, accomplished Black woman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=Fox News Floats Ludicrous New Criteria For Confirming Biden's Supreme Court Nominees%0D&#038;url=https:\/\/www.newscorpse.com\/ncWP\/?p=52363\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to Tweet this article<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newscorpse.com\/Pix\/FoxNews\/foxnews-ingraham-goofy.jpg\" alt=\"Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy\" width=\"550\" height=\"296\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-48956\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday night Fox&#8217;s Senior White Nationalist, Laura Ingraham, delivered a typically crackpot commentary explaining why she thinks Republicans have a a <em>&#8220;sacred duty&#8221;<\/em> to vote against Jackson. Her argument included the invention of a brand new criteria for confirming Supreme Court justices that she crafted specifically for Biden:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Rushing to approve a Supreme Court nominee of a President with, what, an approval rating that always seems to be hitting new lows &#8211; that my friends, is a violation of the basic sacred duty that each and every senator, himself or herself, has agreed to. That means every word of the oath that they took to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution &#8211; that is an oath that is just as sacred as the oath that the nominee has to swear to as well.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ingraham says that senators who vote to confirm a Supreme Court Justice while the current President has a low approval rating are violating their sacred duty <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8jFnE1OFsi\">pic.twitter.com\/8jFnE1OFsi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Acyn (@Acyn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Acyn\/status\/1506818178432733188?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 24, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>WHUT? So now the approval polling of a president making a nomination to the Supreme Court must be taken into consideration before voting to confirm? Obviously Ingraham has only latched onto that because Biden&#8217;s polling has been negatively impacted by a deadly pandemic and a genocidal war, neither of which he caused or has much much control over. Other than the bigotry and naked partisanship they already employ. But she hasn&#8217;t really thought this through.<\/p>\n<p>The approval rating for Donald Trump at the time he nominated three justices to the Court was even lower than Biden&#8217;s now. Biden is currently at 45% according to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Fox_March-18-21-2022_National_Topline_March-23-Release.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the latest Fox News poll<\/a><\/strong>. However, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/203198\/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to Gallup<\/a><\/strong>, when Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett his approval rating was 43%. For Neil Gorsuch it was 41%. And for Brett Kavanaugh Trump was languishing at only 40%.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s more, the approval rating for Jackson herself is higher than for all of Trump&#8217;s nominees. According to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/fox-news-poll-judge-jackson-significantly-more-popular-than-the-last-three-republican-supreme-court-nominees\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a Fox News poll<\/a><\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;A 56% majority would vote to confirm [Jackson], the highest of any nominee since the question was first asked on a Fox News poll in 2005. [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Justice Amy Coney Barrett received an approval rating of 50 percent during her confirmation hearings in 2020, while 45 percent approved of Justice Neil Gorsuch in 2017, and only 40 percent said they would vote to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscorpse.com\/ncWP\/?p=51903\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tucker Carlson Rages for 12 Minutes Against Biden Nominating a Black Woman to the Supreme Court<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Senate hearings for Jackson have revealed two things most prominently: 1) She is eminently qualified and possessing of extraordinary judicial intellect and temperament, and 2) The Republican members of the Judiciary Committee (particularly Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and Lindsey Graham) are asinine blowhards seeking only to venerate themselves and score airtime on Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>That motive remains operational still. Thursday morning Steve Marshall, the Republican Attorney General of Alabama, appeared before the Committee as a witness against Jackson. He engaged in in this pathetic exchange with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Whitehouse:<\/strong> Is Joseph R. Biden of Delaware the duly elected and lawfully serving President of the United States of America?<br \/>\n<strong>Marshall:<\/strong> &#8220;He is the president of our country.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Whitehouse:<\/strong> Is he the duly elected and lawfully serving president of the United States?&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Marshall:<\/strong> &#8220;He is the president of our country.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Whitehouse:<\/strong> Are you answering that omitting the language &#8220;duly elected and lawfully serving&#8221; purposefully?<br \/>\n<strong>Marshall:<\/strong> &#8220;I&#8217;m answering the question. According to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alreporter.com\/2021\/07\/20\/ags-office-refuses-to-reveal-marshalls-whereabouts-before-or-after-jan-6\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alabama Political Reporter<\/a><\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall won\u2019t say where he was on the days leading up to and following the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Marshall leads the Republican Attorneys General Association\u2019s dark-money nonprofit Rule of Law Defense Fund, which paid for robocalls detailing when and where citizens should meet.
