Anyone who has been paying attention is well aware of the cognitive dysfunction of Donald Trump. His incoherent responses to simple questions, and the rambling oratories such as those he delivered at the United Nations and the Navy anniversary event, would be enough to commit an ordinary person to an institution.<\/p>\n

Trump manages to turn every public comment or address into a pleading for adoration, a blathering expression of victimhood, or a vicious attack on his many perceived enemies. He spent the week prior to the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize lobbying for himself to receive the honor. Never mind that the reasons against it are too numerous to list in full.<\/p>\n

On Sunday morning Trump took to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social<\/a><\/strong>, to provide additional proof (as if it were necessary) of his rapidly declining mental acuity. They were the sort of outbursts that one might expect to come from a man on a street corner shouting at cars about the end of the world. Trump began with a pre-dawn diatribe<\/a><\/strong> lashing out at…well, as it turns out, himself:<\/p>\n

“THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM – DO SOMETHING!!! President DJT”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The first problem with that rant is that on January 6, 2021, Trump was still president. Joe Biden was not inaugurated until January 20. So it was Trump’s FBI, including the Bureau’s director, Christopher Wray, whom he appointed three and half years prior, that would have placed any agents in the crowd of insurrectionists.<\/p>\n

What’s more, the story that Trump is telling has already been debunked by his own current FBI director, Kash Patel. Trump raised this issue last month after reading a story about it in the ultra-rightist rag, “The Blaze.”<\/em> He alleged that the FBI agents were “acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists.”<\/em> But that was after Patel had told Fox News that “While the agents were on hand, they were sent in after the riot had begun to try to control the unruly crowd.”<\/em><\/p>\n

If it isn’t bad enough that Trump has apparently forgotten when he was president, his other comment on Sunday morning exposed another fallacious framing of reality. He raged that<\/a><\/strong>…<\/p>\n

“The Ukraine Impeachment (of me!) Scam was a far bigger Illegal Hoax than Watergate. I sincerely hope the necessary authorities, including CONGRESS, are looking into this! Adam ‘Schiffty’ Schiff was sooo dishonest and corrupt. So many laws, and protocols, were violated, and just plain broken!!! President DJT”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

REALLY? Trump is now asserting that Watergate – the well documented scandal that led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, and the conviction of 48 of his White House staffers, including his Chief of Staff and Attorney General – was an “illegal Hoax.”<\/em> That’s a new angle for Trump. Although he might want to reconsider associating his own impeachable offenses with Watergate. Because if Watergate was not a hoax, which it wasn’t, then neither is Trump’s impeachment.<\/p>\n

Trump went on to make another wholly unfounded accusation against Sen. Adam Schiff. As in the past, Trump neglects to offer any evidence of the dishonesty or corruption that he alleges. However, Sen. Schiff was one of three persons on Trump’s enemies list that he recently ordered his Attorney Genuflect, Pam Bondi, to prosecute. And two of them, New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI director James Comey, have been indicted. So is Sen. Schiff next?<\/p>\n

At any other time in America’s history, the behavior that Trump exhibits would result in impeachment or invocation of the Constitution’s 25th Amendment to remove him from office. He would already have been committed to an institution. The only question would be whether that would be a penal or mental institution. Perhaps the prison’s mental ward would be the best option.<\/p>\n
