And with regard to the latter, Trump thought it would bolster his arguments by posting a meme that alleged that President Obama has been profiting from his namesake healthcare program. The meme said&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;BREAKING: DOGE halts yearly payment of $2.5 million to Barack Obama for \u2018royalties linked to Obamacare.\u2019 Obama has collected this payment since 2010, for a total of $40 million in taxpayer dollars.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"bluesky-embed\" data-bluesky-uri=\"at:\/\/did:plc:oyijun4tunao777bpfxlpxvr\/app.bsky.feed.post\/3m57m3qdi3k2m\" data-bluesky-cid=\"bafyreierdar6nen3kuznvdqjxrdiyqojlek26oihpahvkifxlo3v7ddz5a\">\n<p lang=\"en\">Trump is trying to shift responsibility for the government shutdown (and denial of medical coverage) to the Democrats by attacking Obamacare.Obviously, the post below is flat false. Obama hasn\u2019t earned royalties from the Affordable Care Act. But it goes to show how desperate Trump is to distract.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:oyijun4tunao777bpfxlpxvr?ref_src=embed\">Tom Joscelyn (@tomjoscelyn.bsky.social)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:oyijun4tunao777bpfxlpxvr\/post\/3m57m3qdi3k2m?ref_src=embed\">2025-11-09T17:12:02.289Z<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/embed.bsky.app\/static\/embed.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Trump added his own commentary that consisted of the single exclamation <em>&#8220;WOW!&#8221;<\/em> Wow, indeed. That would be a shocking revelation, except for one little thing. It isn&#8217;t true. In fact, it was originally posted by a satirical website with its own disclaimer saying that <em>&#8220;Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Apparently that admonition was insufficient for Trump, who recently did have his head examined. He had a <em>&#8220;perfect&#8221;<\/em> MRI for reasons that have never been explained. But medical professionals say that it is rarely prescribed without some diagnostic concern to probe. It could have been to check whether or not Trump was suffering from the sort of cognitive decline that would cause him to believe the preposterous meme that he posted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bluesky-embed\" data-bluesky-uri=\"at:\/\/did:plc:h7qtoo7nxqxarrsijohjhbw4\/app.bsky.feed.post\/3m46jibh6yy2p\" data-bluesky-cid=\"bafyreibedztmf4r2hou76dnmxgyrn63kuhazc2nidwknbaeycia3xgfvuy\">\n<p>Trump: I got an MRI. It was perfect. We had an MRI, and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect. The doctors said some of the best reports for the age, some of the best reports they&#39;ve ever seen<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:h7qtoo7nxqxarrsijohjhbw4?ref_src=embed\">FactPost (@factpostnews.bsky.social)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:h7qtoo7nxqxarrsijohjhbw4\/post\/3m46jibh6yy2p?ref_src=embed\">2025-10-27T13:27:30.272738111Z<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/embed.bsky.app\/static\/embed.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>For the record, the meme has roots that go back several years. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.factcheck.org\/2025\/02\/posts-spread-false-claim-about-doge-halting-supposed-obamacare-royalties\/\" target=\"_blank\">FactCheck.org researched it<\/a><\/strong> in February of this year and published their findings, saying that&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In recent days, some social media posts have repeated a fabricated claim that DOGE had halted millions in supposed royalty payments to former President Barack Obama. [&#8230;] But the claim that the former president had been receiving royalty payments for the health care law he championed was the invention of America\u2019s Last Line of Defense, or ALLOD, which publishes fabricated political stories and claims on its websites and social media pages that it describes as satirical.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Throughout his occupation of the White House, Trump has been a perpetual source of embarrassment to the nation and humiliation to himself and his party. And just when you think that he has descended to depths that could never be lower, he manages to prove that his ability to plummet ever farther into the bowels of the abhorrent has been grossly underestimated.
