For several weeks Donald Trump has been fixated on passing what he calls the “Save America Act.”<\/em> He has elevated it to a position of top priority, declaring that it must be passed “at the expense of everything else<\/a><\/strong>.”<\/em> He even declared that he will sign no other legislation until after this bill is passed by Congress and put on his desk for signature.<\/p>\n

Trump’s obsession with his Voter Suppression Act is based entirely on his fear that Republicans are going to be brutally beaten in the upcoming midterm elections. He knows that such an electoral defeat would make him even more pathetically impotent than he is currently. And he views any challenge to what he sees as his divine right of MAGA-sty as intolerable and must be prohibited.<\/p>\n

In the past week Trump has posted several comments on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social<\/a><\/strong>, demanding that his Republican toadies in Congress obey his authority and pass the anti-voting bill. And not because he wants fair elections. To the contrary, he’s been openly pitching that the bill would result in Republicans never losing<\/a><\/strong> for the next 50 years.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday morning he leveled his most hostile commands<\/a><\/strong> to date. In his familiar hyperbolic rage Trump called the bill “one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation in the history of Congress, and America itself.”<\/em> He lied that voting by mail is “rigged”<\/em> and that “We are the only Country in the World that allows”<\/em> mail-in voting. At least 30 other countries do. Then he elaborated saying that…<\/p>\n

“Only sick, demented, or deranged people in the House or Senate could vote against THE SAVE AMERICA ACT. If they do, each one of these points, separately, will be used against the user in his\/her political campaign for office – A guaranteed loss! […] I WILL NEVER (EVER!) ENDORSE ANYONE WHO VOTES AGAINST ‘SAVE AMERICA!!!'”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

OMG! Not THAT! Trump is threatening to withhold his precious endorsement from any Republicans who defy his will. It’s notable that he needs to resort to threats, because his powers of persuasion suck. And he has no credible arguments to convince anyone that the bill has real merit.<\/p>\n

However, given his current abysmal standings in the polls, his endorsement is what is more likely to result in “a guaranteed loss.”<\/em> Not to mention the unpopularity of the bill itself. Which is why Republicans in the Senate are leaning against<\/a><\/strong> voting for the bill in the first place. For the record, this isn’t the first time Trump has bellowed out this sort of threat. Last week he unleashed this bit of fascist theory wherein he insists that “anybody who votes against The Save America Act should not be allowed to run for public office.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Imagine the insanity of trying to dictate who should be allowed to run for office, while promoting something he calls the "Save America Act."<\/p>\n
