Now that Trump has claimed victory over Iran – after repeatedly claiming imaginary victories in the past six weeks – he is bragging about how masterful his negotiating skills are that led to this outcome. Never mind that the alleged ceasefire that Trump is touting is already reported to have been broken<\/a><\/strong>, and that few if any of his demands have been met.<\/p>\n

True to form, Trump is laser focused on on the facade of leadership that he seeks to present. He has always been more interested in appearances than substantive results. And to that end, he is reverting to his standard operating procedure of bashing the free press should they report anything about him that is less than gushingly adoring. In his diseased mind, he must be worshiped at all times, and at all costs…<\/p>\n

The ceasefire deal that Trump claims to have struck will supposedly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which was already open before the reckless and illegal war that he started. Only now it will be controlled by Iran who will be charging fees to pass through it. Iran will also get sanctions relief in this deal, and their oil will be selling for much more on the global markets. And all it cost the United States was a few billion dollars and thousands of innocent Iranian lives, as well as thirteen American troops.<\/p>\n

Trump proudly posted a comment<\/a><\/strong> announcing the deal on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social<\/a><\/strong>, saying that, subject to Iran agreeing, he would “suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.”<\/em> Because everything that Trump does happens (or more accurately, doesn’t happen) in a two week span, from revealing his healthcare plan to releasing the Epstein files. This time he’s reneging his prior promise<\/a><\/strong> that “A whole civilization will die tonight.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Then, in pursuit of more surface level adulation, Trump lashed out at CNN for publishing a story about the ceasefire. Naturally, Trump’s position contained an abundance of anger and a litany of lies. He wrote<\/a><\/strong> that “The alleged Statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD,”<\/em> and made a bizarre charge, without any evidence, that “The false Statement was linked to a Fake News site (from Nigeria).”<\/em> But then he elaborated with an overt, albeit impotent, threat…<\/p>\n

“Authorities are looking to determine whether or not a crime was committed on the issuance of the Fake CNN World Statement, or was it a sick rogue player? CNN is being ordered to immediately withdraw this Statement with full apologies for their, as usual, terrible ‘reporting.’ Results of the investigation will be announced in the near future. President DONALD J. TRUMP”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So Trump is seeking to criminally prosecute CNN for publishing a story that he doesn’t like. And furthermore, he is “ordering”<\/em> them to retract the story and apologize to him. That is the tyrannical behavior of a confirmed fascist who thinks that he has the right to dominate the press. Which is nothing new for Trump.<\/p>\n

For the record, CNN is standing by their story. They claim that it is well sourced and accurate. As reported by Deadline<\/a><\/strong>…<\/p>\n

“CNN is defending its reporting on the statement. A spokesperson said, ‘The statement in question was obtained by CNN from Iranian officials and reported on multiple Iranian state media outlets. We received the statement from specific official Iranian spokespeople who are known to us.'”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To make matters worse, Trump’s FCC boss, Brendan Carr, joined in the attack on CNN. Without conducting any investigation or research, Carr charged that CNN’s conduct was “outrageous,”<\/em> and that they were “pushing out a hoax headline,”<\/em> and that “this requires accountability.”<\/em><\/p>\n

So Carr is also threatening CNN, even though he has no authority over cable news networks. He closed with an ominous taunt that it is “Time for change at CNN.”<\/em> [Note: Trump’s billionaire pals David and Larry Ellison are in the process of acquiring Warner Bros\/Discovery<\/a><\/strong>, which also owns CNN]<\/em><\/p>\n

This sort of government bullying of the media is what you might expect to see in dictatorships like Russia and North Korea. But considering that those countries are run by Trump’s idols and mentors, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he is emulating their totalitarian tactics. Hopefully, he will be stopped by a new Democratic Congress and the American people who cherish freedom.<\/p>\n
