The reckless and illegal war against Iran that Donald Trump started eight months ago is still in progress despite Trump’s repeated claims – at least a couple of dozen times – that he had defeated Iran seven months ago. So the war that he said wouldn’t last more than a few weeks has now been going on for more than half a year.<\/p>\n

The consequences of Trump’s war are tragic for Iran, who has suffered thousands of civilian fatalities. It has been tragic for the 18 American troops who were killed, and hundreds more wounded. It has been tragic for the other Middle East nations that were drawn into the conflict. And it has been devastating for the American people who are struggling to make ends meet due to the war’s impact on the oil trade and resulting increases on everything from gas, to groceries, to healthcare, to housing, and more. And Trump has no idea how to get out of it.<\/p>\n

On Saturday morning Trump was asked about a new proposal by Iran to end the war. They promised an immediate ceasefire, a complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and negotiations on ending their nuclear weapons programs, including allowing access for United Nations nuclear inspectors. Trump’s response was a blunt and hostile “NO!”<\/em><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m rejecting their deal. They want to make a deal where they open the strait immediately because they are losing so badly. You don’t see that in the fake news. We’re winning tremendously. We have total control of the Hormuz Strait. Massive amounts of oil are coming out of the Hormuz Strait, Last night we had 29 ships come out.<\/p>\n

“They want to make a deal and I think that’s fine. I like making a deal too. But that deal would not be acceptable. What they want to do is immediately open the Hormuz Strait. You know why? Because they\u2019re dying. You know why they\u2019re dying? Because they have no money coming in. Because they get their money from the Hormuz Strait.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
