For thirty years Fox News has operated as the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. and for the past 10 years they have focused even more narrowly on their role as the Ministry of Disinformation for Donald Trump.

However, there comes a time in the evolution of such a dishonest enterprise that they seem to run out of rational compliments and/or excuses for the party and the leader to whom they are devoted. It’s a professional hazard that is inevitable when the network is disseminating bullshit 24/7. And it’s especially prevalent when the leader is someone like Trump who demands constant dishonesty and flattery.

This week the undisputed “Stupidest Man on Fox News,” Jesse Watters, defended his title in a segment that covered Trump’s illegal $5,000 bribe to buy votes for the upcoming midterm elections. In his zeal to fluff Dear Leader, Watters made a peculiar argument that most people would regard as an insult…
“That $5,000 check. That is not a bribe. We’re calling it an enticement. We don’t know if the check will ever get there. What happens if the Republicans take the house and they balk and don’t write the checks? It’s not Trump’s fault. He just blames Congress. It’s like a woman. Sometimes a woman can entice you, okay? It doesn’t mean you’re going home with her but it keeps you interested. It keeps you intrigued and wanting more. That’s what this is about.”
To begin with, Watters rejects the notion that Trump is offering a bribe in exchange for votes, despite the fact that that is literally what Trump did. But according to Watters it isn’t a bribe at all if Trump was lying about the $5,000 checks, or otherwise fails to honor his promise to pay up. This is one of those times when being an untrustworthy cretin is benefit.
However, Watters wasn’t through demonstrating his inbred idiocy. He still had to include some flagrant misogyny in his commentary. So he added a comparison of Trump to a morally vacant woman who uses the promise of sex as a method of manipulating men. That, of course, is a stereotypical insult to women, but it’s equally insulting to Trump. And yet, somehow Watters meant this as a compliment.
It isn’t really surprising that Watters would have such despicable ideas, particularly about women and gender issues. After all, he has also…
- Disparaged college educated women as downwardly mobile, bitter, angry, and ugly.
- Criticized voters saying that “I don’t see why any man would vote Democrat.” He continues to say that a man who votes for a woman “has mommy issues.”
- Advised women that “Work is a great place to find a spouse.” And he was speaking from experience. He found his current spouse at work at Fox News. Although he was already married with children when he began stalking a much younger woman on his staff. He later left his family for the staffer he was cheating with.
What’s more, Watters has famously touted his “Five Rules for Men“: Never cross your legs; don’t use straws; abstain from drinking milkshakes; don’t eat soup in public; and never wave with both hands. So pay attention men, if you want to be as masculine as Jesse Watters – and a hit with all the ladies.
