JD Vance Goes to Germany to Bad Mouth America and Lie About Trump’s Propaganda Campaigns

For 60 years the annual Munich Security Conference has brought together representatives from around the world to engage in diplomatic discussions under the theme of “peace through dialogue.” The meetings promote amicable relations between participating nations and the resolution of conflicts. Which makes this year’s conference especially significant considering the state of the world today.

Liberty Crying

With the ongoing aggression by Russia against Ukraine, and Israel’s grossly inhumane assault on civilians in Gaza, the United States has taken on an oversized role in the world’s hostilities. And it doesn’t help matters that Donald Trump exacerbates the problems by threatening its own allies (Mexico, Canada, Greenland, etc.) with invasion and/or annexation for the pettiest of reasons.

The representatives that Trump sent to the Conference during his prior occupation of the White House included Mike Pence, James Mattis, H.R. McMaster, Mike Pompeo, and Mark Esper. Note that Trump has since disavowed every one of them as incompetents and idiots who were never qualified to serve in his administration. Which begs the question: Why did he appoint them?

This year Trump sent JD Vance. Does this foretell the fate of Vance in the years (or maybe weeks, days) to come? At least for the time being Vance is likely performing down to Trump’s expectations. He has the requisite lack of relevant experience that Trump demands. His speech to the Conference was filled with lies and was a remarkably hostile screed against America. So Trump must have loved it. What follows are some choice excerpts with corrective annotations.

Vance: “If you’re running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you. Nor, for that matter, is there anything you can do for the American people who elected me and elected President Trump. You need democratic mandates to accomplish anything of value in the coming years. Have we learned nothing that thin mandates produce unstable results.”
Note: Trump’s alleged “mandate” was one of the lowest margins of victory (1.5%) in American history. And he and his administration are the ones exhibiting fear of their own voters by firing Justice Department inspectors and prosecutors who would reveal their misconduct, as well as their brazen suppression of the free press.

Vance: “Speaking up and expressing opinions isn’t election interference. Even when people expressed outside of the country and even when they are very influential. And trust me, I say this with all humor, if American democracy can survive ten years of Greta Thunberg scolding, you can survive a few months of Elon Musk.”
Note: Expressing opinions may not be election interference, but purposefully lying and disseminating disinformation is. Particularly when they are influential. And comparing the work of Greta Thunberg, who began her grassroots climate activism as a 15 year old, to Elon Musk, a politically connected billionaire, is downright idiotic.

Vance: “You can believe it’s wrong for Russia to buy social media advertisements to influence your elections. We certainly do. You can condemn it on the world stage even..But if your democracy can be destroyed with a few hundred thousand dollars of digital advertising from a foreign country, then it wasn’t very strong to begin with.”
Note: First of all, neither Trump nor Vance have ever condemned Russia’s attempts to influence our elections. That said, if Vance and Musk don’t think that spending hundreds of thousands of dollars (hundreds of millions actually) on digital advertising isn’t effective, they why do they do it? Clearly they recognize that voters can be swayed and deceived with advertising campaigns. And so do the Russians.

Vance: “The threat that I worry that most about vis a vis Europe is not Russia, it’s not China, it’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within.”
Note: This isn’t “America First.” It’s “Blame America First.” The Trump regime is always ready and willing, even anxious, to condemn America, while never even modestly criticizing Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, of Kim Jong Un, who he idolizes and seeks to emulate.

It’s safe to say that the the happiest people in the audience for Vance’s speech were the Russians and other adversaries of the United States. They could not have better represented the case against America than Vance did. He also offered a strong defense for the anti-American propaganda activities that many of our enemies are already engaging in.

It’s hard to imagine that Trump’s decision to dispatch Vance to this Conference wasn’t intended to humiliate America. He couldn’t have chosen a better person for that purpose. Unless, that is, he decided to go himself. So, on second thought, we probably should be grateful that he sent Vance.

Trump is APPALLED at the ‘Large Scale Social Deception’ that His Own Administration Paid For

Donald Trump is notoriously fond of castigating his perceived enemies for offenses that he himself is responsible for. Every time he has falsely accused President Biden of committing crimes, it has been to deflect from his own documented criminality, including 34 felony convictions. Every time he has railed at Democrats for cheating, or attacked liberals as extremists, it has been to cover up his own dishonesty and manic radicalism.

Trump Lies

Nothing is more predictable than Trump’s displays of pure projection that mirror his worst behaviors. And his feigned blindness to what is obvious to everybody else speaks to the degree of mental deterioration that he must be suffering, and/or his pathological impulse to lie about everything. These may be factors in why Trump’s popularity is wallowing at record lows.

Consequently, no one should be surprised that Trump is now unleashing a rancid and utterly unwarranted assault on the media that he despises so thoroughly. Just one day after he brazenly violated the First Amendment rights of the Associated Press (because they wouldn’t kowtow to his preposterous renaming of the Gulf of Mexico), Trump is now making bizarre and unfounded accusations aimed at Reuters. He posted the following harangue on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social…

“DOGE: Looks like Radical Left Reuters was paid $9,000,000 by the Department of Defense to study ‘large scale social deception.’ GIVE BACK THE MONEY, NOW!”

What things “look like” to Trump are usually grossly distorted by his perversely warped political baises. And this case is no exception. To begin with, Trump was alerted to this phony atrocity by his unelected co-president and puppet master, Elon Musk, who shortly before Trump’s posting, tweeted that…

“Reuters was paid millions of dollars by the US government for ‘large scale social deception’. That is literally what it says on the purchase order! They’re a total scam. Just wow.”

There a couple of serious problems with these crackpot commentaries. Let’s begin with the fact that the expenditure in question was not one that financed engaging in “large scale social deception.” It was clearly described as a contract to conduct research on nefarious social media operations in order to defend against such threats to national security due to the social media campaigns of foreign adversaries. Naturally Trump is opposed to that because it would put constraints on his BFF, Vladimir Putin, and other tyrants that Trump admires and seeks to emulate.

Furthermore, the expenditures that Trump and Musk are complaining about were made in 2018, during Trump’s occupation of the White House. So he is actually attacking the work of his own administration. And yet, still managing to blame it on “Radical Left[ists]” and demanding repayment of the funds that he paid out. None of this was secret. It was all documented and available online. Mediaite did a quick fact-check and easily found that…

“The contract in question, issued in 2018 during the first Trump administration, was actually awarded to Thomson Reuters Special Services for cybersecurity research. […] The ASED program aims to create scalable systems capable of detecting, analyzing, and mitigating threats to bolster cybersecurity.”

For the record, Thomson Reuters Special Services is a division of the same corporation that owns Reuters News Service, but is not affiliated with it in any working capacity. TRSS has no input into Reuters reporting or editorial practices. It would like saying that Pepsi and Quaker Oats are clandestinely conspiring to alter each others recipes because they are both owned by the same corporation.

The bottom line here is that Trump and Musk are deliberately lying about the pseudo-scandal that they are pretending to have uncovered. And they are demonstrating that they couldn’t care less about the facts that are so readily available. So if anyone still needs more reasons not to trust anything that either of them say (a line that should have been crossed long ago), this should be a convincing closer to that deal. From now on, if you are fooled by these con artists, you want to be fooled. Also, you are in a cult.

The commitment to responsible journalism that Fox News is famous for is demonstrated on a daily basis in innumerable ways. They include their gushing adorations of all things Trump. Their flagrant lies about made-up Democratic scandals. Their distortions and deliberate misinterpretations of breaking news stories. And their devotion to reporting as fact anything that Trump or his MAGA cronies tell them.

On Monday morning Fox’s “Outnumbered” co-host, Emily Compagno, sought to lavish praise on Trump with an enumeration of “some of the big moves that President Trump has made that will impact your everyday life.” And did she waste time with trivialities like wars in Ukraine and Gaza, or the inflationary tariffs that Trump has imposed on many of America’s allies, or his threats to invade and annex Canada, Mexico, and Greenland, or the unconstitutional offenses against federal agencies by Trump’s co-president, Elon Musk?

Nope. Why bother with those distractions when there are real problems that Trump is working hard to solve? According to Compagno, these are the “big moves” that Trump is focused on…

“It seems like nothing is off the table in Trump’s second term. Trump has just ordered the end of penny production. […]

“Trump has also declared that every February 9th will officially be known as “Gulf of America Day.” […]

“He has clearly had enough. Vowing to bring back plastic straws once and for all. Writing ‘I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, that don’t work. BACK TO PLASTIC!’

“God, I love it. All in a day’s work.”

That’s right! Trump is fulfilling his many campaign promises by finally ridding America of pennies, paper straws, and gulfs with names that fail to properly exalt America, even though the gulf was named before there was an America.

Meanwhile, the nation is on the verge of, if not fully engrossed in, several constitutional crises. The Trump team is shutting down crucial services that police corporate corruption. They are halting already allocated life-saving aid to impoverished countries. They are invading the privacy and security of American citizens, They are terminating prosecutors and inspectors general. And they are refusing to comply with court orders to cease these unlawful activities.

But praise the lord that the torture we’ve endured by the atrocities that Trump is addressing is over. And thank goodness we have Fox News to alert us to these glorious improvements in our otherwise woeful existence. MAGA!

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

Trump himself has provided the best evidence that Fox News is his Ministry of Propaganda. He will appear almost nowhere else on television. The only reason he gave an interview prior to the Super Bowl was because the game and the interview were being broadcast on Fox. What’s more, much of his Cabinet and White House staff (19 so far) were recruited from Fox News.

On Monday morning the dedicated Fox News Trump-fluffers on “Outnumbered” engaged in their routine morning worship ritual wherein they fawn over their idol and endeavor to reconstruct reality in a way that makes the convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and aspiring anti-democracy authoritarian look palatable to his gullible cult followers. To that end, co host Emily Compagno launched into a screed castigating the free press and offering her prescription for how the media ought to cover Trump…

“The fact that the media can’t keep up, A) doesn’t matter because we’re not looking to them for the news anyway. And B) guess what president Trump is doing? His office of comms is directly emailing, putting out on Truth Social, putting on the website, every day, all day, exactly what they are doing. So all you have to do, legacy media, is simply repeat, retweet, repost, and that is the news, and that is the facts.”

See? All the media has to do is to mindlessly regurgitate Trump’s divine and infallible utterances, and then take the rest of the day off. What could be easier? According to Compagno, whatever Trump says “is the news and that is the facts.” No need to argue or research or seek any other opinion. Just shut up and sing along with the Trump hymnal.

Never mind that Trump has actually been documented as the most dishonest occupant of the White House ever. He lies virtually every time he opens his mouth. He even continues to lie after he’s been shown that what he said is a lie.

Compagno, however, characterizes Trump’s fountain of falsehoods as his attempts to provide access and transparency. But putting out emails that are demonstrably false, and babbling on social media “every day, all day,” is not how you keep people apprised of what you’re doing. Particularly if what you’re putting out is pure bullpucky. To the contrary, that’s how you deceive simpletons who want to be misled.

It’s also how you steamroll the press to keep them from getting substantive answers to critical questions. That’s what Compagno was referring to when she said that “the media can’t keep up.” It’s Trump’s way of “flooding the zone with bullshit” (as his partner in crime Steve Bannon says) as a deflection tactic.

So while Trump is yammering about renaming the Gulf of Mexico, or banning paper straws, he is also advancing his agenda to cut taxes for the rich (paid for by cutting Social Security and Medicare), curtailing Constitutional rights, and assuming tyrannical control over the government.

Finally, it’s telling that Compagno admits that “we’re not looking to them for the news anyway.” Of course not. Why would the leading distorter of news look to actual journalists for news when they are busy making it up themselves? Or more accurately according to her own admission, transcribing it from their messiah.

The Trump Regime Wants to Abolish Judicial Review and the Constitution’s Separation of Powers

The reprise of Donald Trump’s occupation of the White House is extraordinarily significant from a historical perspective. Setting aside his appallingly apparent lust for authoritarian power (which we shouldn’t do), he has achieved a few firsts that the American people must not diminish or forget.

For instance, Trump is the first convicted felon to be elected president. He’s also the first adjudicated rapist, the first to advocate censorship of the free press, the first to openly praise and support fascist dictators, and the first to accept bribes through his hotels and golf resorts, and other phony business ventures (Trump Media, Trump coin, etc.).

Another constant in the cavalcade of Trump’s criminality is his flagrant hostility toward justice and the rule law. Trump shares his hatred of law enforcement with all of the organized crime gangs that preceded him, and for the same reasons. None of them want to be held accountable for their wrongdoing.

It has been less than three weeks since Trump’s inauguration, and he has already been spanked by the courts multiple times for exceeding his authority. In one case his deadline to force for federal employees to resign was delayed. In another his attempt to end birthright citizenship was blocked. Most recently his order to shutdown the US Agency for International Development (USAID) was halted, and his cronies prohibited from accessing or retaining any data that they had collected.

It was the latter ruling that triggered the Trump team to escalate their war on the judiciary. Trump’s co-president, Elon Musk, was compelled to speak out on his own propaganda platform (Twitter/X) saying that “A corrupt judge protecting corruption. He needs to be impeached NOW!” And that “I’d like to propose that the worst 1% of appointed judges, as determined by elected bodies, be fired every year. This will weed out the most corrupt and least competent.”

Musk’s proposal to annually fire judges at the whim of partisan elected representatives is a blatant assault on the independence of the judiciary. But it isn’t surprising that he has no respect for these pesky details that form the foundation of America’s justice system, and that prevent him from acting out his tyrannical fantasies.

Joining in on the judge bashing is Vice-President JD Vance. He tweeted a message that demonstrates just how clueless about the law a Yale Law graduate can be after he’s been indoctrinated into a cult. He wrote that…

“If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal. If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that’s also illegal. Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

JD Vance posted this decree essentially advocating for the elimination of the constitutionally co-equal judicial branch of government so that Trump can reign as a tyrant.

Every word of that is nonsense. None of what he claims is illegal violates any law. To the contrary, if a general, an attorney general, or any other executive branch official, were to engage in conduct that is contrary to the Constitution, they can be ordered to stop the offending conduct and be punished, if necessary, in accordance with the law. Any other interpretation would be a de facto authorization for the president – or any subordinate he designates – to violate the Constitution at will.

This rant by Vance essentially decrees that the constitutionally co-equal judicial branch of government is irrelevant and that Trump is free to reign as a tyrant. To be sure, that’s precisely what Trump aspires to. But it is not remotely permissible in a constitutional republic with clear delineations outlining the separation powers.

So neither Trump, nor Vance, nor Musk, nor anyone else in the Trump Mob, can ignore judicial rulings. Neither can they unilaterally impeach or otherwise intimidate or remove judges who don’t rule in their favor. And it is a frightening feature of the current state of America that anyone actually needs to be reminded of that.

Trump is Busy Doing the People’s Work: Pushing for Plastic Straws and Firing Journalists?

It’s good to know that Donald Trump isn’t just playing golf, proposing hostile takeovers of U.S. allies (Canada, Mexico, Greenland, etc.), nominating unqualified and anti-American Cabinet secretaries, terminating career prosecutors and FBI agents, and masterminding fascist coups of government agencies in order to sabotage their work.

Trump is also steadfastly applying himself to his obligations as president to achieve the goals of the American people that he has pledged to serve. The citizens of this nation should be comforted knowing that they have a leader who is spending his time on critical initiatives like policing who uses which bathrooms, flooding California farmlands, and pitching cheesy merchandise and self-exalting books…

On Friday morning Trump added to his list of priorities a couple of long-festering problems that have been in dire need of solutions. He posted his intentions on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to let everyone know just how focused he is on America’s most urgent issues.

Trump’s first message made plain his determination to resolve a matter that surely takes precedence over immigration, school shootings, drug trafficking, homelessness, wars in Ukraine and Gaza, climate change, and the high price of eggs and gas. Trump wrote that…

“I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don’t work. BACK TO PLASTIC!”

Thank God! We absatively have to drop everything else and ban those horrible paper straws and return to the plastic variety that are known for “releasing chemicals into the soil, air, and water that are harmful to animals, plants, people, and the environment.” Why hasn’t anyone sought to do this before?

Trump’s next message sought to further his long battle against the free press that he refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.” He wrote that…

“Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post is INCOMPETENT! So sad to see him trying to justify the waste, fraud, and corruption at USAID with his pathetic Radical Left SPIN. He should be fired immediately!!!”

It’s about time that the U.S. government clamp down on wayward reporters who have the audacity to exercise their rights under the Constitution’s First Amendment. Especially Pulitzer Prize-winning columnists like Robinson. And leave it Trump, who regularly castigates the press and calls for censorship by the government, to lash out at a journalist and demand that he be fired.

It’s unclear what Trump was specifically referring to in his harangue. However, it is likely that he watched Robinson on MSNBC offering well-deserved criticism of Trump’s assault on the USAID program that “is the principal U.S. agency to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms.” How dare they?

What probably triggered Trump was Robinson speculating that Trump and Musk were using USAID “as kind of a demonstration project, just to see how we can destroy an agency and demoralize the rest of the federal workforce.” Which would perfectly align with the behavior of the MAGA boys and their orchestrated coup.

UPDATE: Trump added another comment announcing that he is appointing himself as the chair of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, and terminating the current chair and “multiple individuals” from the Board. Why? Because he has nothing better to do (Elon’s running everything), and what the Center has been missing is a clod who has no relationship with modern culture? So look for future inductees like Kid Rock, Scott Baio, Roseanne Barr, and even Ivanka.

Sadly, there will be more of this sort of bullshittery to come, until they can be stopped by an uprising of protest among the masses, the Democrats in Congress, and the courts.

By Trump’s Deranged Logic the U.S. Should Takeover Israel and Relocate All of its Residents

The Decline of Western Civilization is accelerating apace as Donald Trump continues to roll out his neo-fascist, Project 2025 agenda with the cowardly compliance of Republicans in Congress and the MAGA-friendly media. In less than three weeks he has presided over a federal spending freeze that devastates critical services, the gutting of law enforcement personal at the Justice Department and the FBI, and the illegal invasion of government facilities by the unqualified and unaccountable armies of Muskler Youth.

Trump Tower in bombed out Gaza

Near the top of the list of catastrophic Trump initiatives is his proposed scheme to commit blatant crimes against humanity by ordering the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and declaring the occupied Palestinian territory a wholly owned property of the United States. Trump has neither the legal authority, nor the moral standing to make such a declaration. And his escalation of these preposterous pronouncements is a major contributor to his abysmal approval ratings.

On Thursday morning Trump quadrupled-down on his delusional Gaza annexation aspirations. He posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that reaffirmed just how mentally twisted he is. He began by asserting that “The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel,” as if Israel held that power, or even the inclination to do so. Then he bizarrely implied that the Democratic leader of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, is himself a Palestinian. And it just got worse from there. Trump claimed that the entirety of the Palestinian residents of Gaza…

“…would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities. They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free. The U.S., working with great development teams from all over the World, would slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth. No soldiers by the U.S. would be needed! Stability for the region would reign!!!”

Never mind that the mass resettlement of a populations is a violation of international law. So is the assumption of their then vacant land for the habitation and profit of others. And if Trump really believes that all of that could be accomplished without a provoking a prolonged war between the Palestinians, the U.S., and Israel, he is farther along the path to debilitating senility that previously thought.

What’s more, Trump’s logic is so deeply flawed that it can easily be turned against him. If his proposal for resettlement is so great, why not resettle the Israelis? After all…

“They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free. The U.S., working with great development teams from all over the World, would slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth.”

So maybe Trump could make a deal to buy Greenland, or Madagascar, or even Baja California, and move all the Israelis there. If New Israel were in Baja California, I would even move there. There would be peace and prosperity in a beautiful locale, with Mediterranean weather, and close to the U.S. Let the Palestinians have the god-forsaken desert in the Middle East with proximity to their Muslim neighbors.

Of course, that proposal is offered with a healthy heaping of sarcasm. One of the problems with moving either Palestinians or Israelis is that the land they are on now isn’t just some random piece of real estate. It is regarded by both sides as the ancestral homeland for their people, given to them by God. But Trump thinks that he can just pack them up and ship them off to some unspecified destination, even though every Arab country has already refused to take in the Palestinians.

Naturally, Fox News is all for Trump’s idiotic plans to uproot the Palestinians and steal the land. They can’t understand why the idea wouldn’t be accepted with unbounded glee. And Trump probably thinks it would be a good location for a Trump Golf and Resort Spa on the Mediterranean. But maybe he should Don Jr, or Eric or Elon there first to check it out and see if they can’t get Hamas to sign on.

In the meantime, The Daily Show had its own take on the subject. Host Desi Lydic noted that “Trump wants to turn Gaza into the Riviera? He couldn’t even turn Atlantic City into a nicer Atlantic City! If anything, they tore down so many of his casinos he turned Atlantic city into Gaza!”

Trump’s Press Secretary Stumped When Asked If It’s Safe to Fly – By Peter Doocy of Fox News

Within hours of the news that an American Airlines jet had collided with a military Blackhawk helicopter and crashed, killing everyone aboard both aircraft, Donald Trump had already drawn his conclusions as to the cause. He surmised that the cause of the tragedy was hiring practices that promoted diversity, equity, and Inclusion (DEI). He followed that up by blaming Presidents Obama and Biden.

Never mind that Trump had no evidence whatsoever that his racist conclusions had any merit, or even a remote relationship with reality. He neglected expressions of concern or condolences in order to advance his agenda of noxious bigotry, and to exploit the tragedy to attack his political foes. And of course, that narrative was faithfully supported by his obedient politburo chief, Karoline Leavitt, who has been busy clearing press credentials for devoted MAGA cultists.

On Friday morning, the White House press briefing took a bizarre turn when Peter Doocy of Fox News rose to ask Leavitt a question about the safety of air travel in America. He made an uncharacteristically insightful point about the consequences of Trump’s drumbeating of disparagement toward employees in the aviation sector that he regards as being too dark skinned, feminine, or otherwise representative of the diversity of the nation.

Doocy: If president Trump is telling us that air traffic control towers are staffed with unqualified controllers, DEI hires who never should have been brought on, then it’s not safe to fly commercially, is it?
Leavitt: The president was asked and answered this yesterday, and he believes that it is still indeed safe and Americans should feel safe traveling our skies. With that said, two things can be true at the same time. And we certainly have seen the deterioration of federal hiring standards at the Federal Aviation Administration. And the president wants to increase those standards.

Doocy’s question staggered Leavitt. It makes sense to reason that aviation safety is at risk if the people responsible for it are incompetent and/or unqualified, as Trump insists. And anyone who accepts Trump’s assessment should keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, rather than put their lives in the hands of freeloaders who shouldn’t have been hired. Right?

Well, according to Leavitt, the answer is more complex. She argues that “two things can be true at the same time.” In her view, the pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation staff can be inferior clods who, nevertheless, are still perfectly able to insure the safety of American travelers. Except for the times that they cause jetliners to crash into the Potomac. Leavitt elaborated on her duplicity theory saying that…

“When you’re flying with your loved ones, do you pray that your airplane lands safely and gets you to your destination or do you pray that the pilot has a certain skin color? I think we all know the answer.”

The choices Leavitt offers here are absurd in the extreme. Obviously every air passenger wants to land safely. But nobody “prays” that “the pilot has a certain skin color.” Well, except for racist Trump cultists and MAGA disciples who will only approve of white pilots. For instance, Trump flunky Charlie Kirk actually said “I’m sorry. If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.'”

Trump’s obsession with casting blame on Blacks, women, Democrats, and others for whom he has a visceral, inbred hatred, is emblematic of his rancid divisiveness. And in the furtherance of his prejudices, he couldn’t care less about whether or not what he’s saying about DEI true. And as PolitiFact affirms, it isn’t. But that won’t stop him. He won’t stop lying because he’s pathologically incapable of it. What’s more, he knows that his cult followers not only accept it, they love it.

Trump’s Press Secretary Pledges to Plant Pro-Trump Crackpots in the White House Press Room

As Donald Trump continues his mission to guide America down the path toward his anti-democratic brand of authoritarianism, his administration underlings are faithfully carrying out his directives in a manner that is familiar to students of tyrannical regimes throughout history.

Prominent among Trump’s team of neo-fascistas is his Politburo Chief, Karoline Leavitt, whose commitment disseminating propaganda would make Goebbels proud. She has been a devoted advocate of transforming the role of press secretary into a clearing house for Trump’s official falsehoods and MAGA evangelism.

On Tuesday Leavitt told reporters about her intention to allow members of “new media” to apply for White House press credentials. by that she means the sort of MAGA friendly Internet influencers that Trump relied on to spread his dishonest campaign messages last year. She said that…

“I take great pride in opening up this room to new media voices to share the president’s message with as many Americans as possible. In doing so, number one, we will ensure that outlets like yours, Axios and Breitbart, which are widely respected and viewed outlets, have an actual seat in this room every day. We also, again, encourage anybody in this country, whether you are a TikTok content creator, a blogger, a podcaster, if you are producing legitimate news content, no matter the medium you will be allowed to apply for press credentials to this White House.”

This would be a good time to remind everyone that in Trump World Joe Rogan and Alex Jones produce “legitimate news content.” So Leavitt would permit crackpots like that to take the seats of credible journalist that Trump doesn’t like, such as Jim Acosta who was just elbowed out of CNN by executives who are partial to, or afraid of, Trump.

Leavitt, however, neglected to note that it is not within her duties as press secretary to decide who gets to attend the White House press briefings. While the White House Press Office does authorize access to the White House itself, reporters need to be accredited by the independent White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) and pass a background check by the Secret Service. Something tells me that Alex Jones, and others of his ilk, would have difficulty meeting either of those criteria.

So it took eight days into Trump 2.0 before Leavitt finally held her first press briefing from the White House. And it surely didn’t disappoint those who were expecting a free-flowing festival of partisan flackery. Despite her stated commitment to “telling the truth from this podium every single day,” she lied repeatedly, including in her promise to tell the truth “every single day,” since she’s only been at that podium one day so far.

Among Leavitt’s lies were those that addressed Trump’s halting of federal assistance and grant programs, his inhumane mass deportation plans, his non-existent initiatives to lower consumer prices, his vengeful revocation of security for former government officials, his illegal firing of inspectors general and Justice Department officials, his inflationary tariffs, and his absurd claim that he sent the military to California to turn a magic faucet that would get the water flowing.

Michael Kosta of “The Daily Show” was among those watching Leavitt’s debut performance. And he couldn’t help but notice her attitudinal shift from campaign flack to White House hack. He presented a video clip demonstrating how she has moved forward from her prior role as a Biden basher…

Jim Acosta’s Parting Words for CNN (and Trump): It Is Never a Good Time to Bow Down to a Tyrant

The media barons who control the biggest news platforms in America have spent the weeks following the election of Donald Trump affirming that they are cowardly supplicants to his tyrannical intimidation, and/or greedy slaves to the almighty dollar. Either way, they are proving to be utterly unreliable sources for honest news that speaks truth to power.

The Constitution’s shielding of the free press is apparently insufficient to buttress these weak-hearted pseudo-journalists whose primary objectives now appear to be sucking up to Trump and his MAGA cult disciples. They behave as if they are hostages being forced to deliver fear-drenched messages prepared by their captors. And the Trump team isn’t shy about hurling threats aimed at the media that he regards as “the enemy of the people.”

On Tuesday morning CNN’s longtime, respected anchor, Jim Acosta, announced on the air that he is leaving the network after 18 years. His decision to quit came after Trump-fluffing executives at CNN sought to banish him to a sparsely watched overnight time slot. Rather than take that insult and ingratitude for years of service, Acosta chose to head for greener pastures. And on the way out the door he gave a moving account of the principles that have guided him throughout his career, and that also serve as a warning to his media colleagues…

“You may have seen some reports about me and the show, and after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing in alternative timeslots CNN offered me, I’ve decided to move on. […]

“As the son of a Cuban refugee, I took home this lesson: It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant. I have always believed it’s the job of the press to hold power to account. I’ve always tried to do that here at CNN, and I plan on doing all of that in the future.

“One final message. Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth and to hope.

Those are powerful words that, under normal circumstances, would have a profound affect on fellow journalists, Unfortunately, these are not normal times. CNN and other news organizations have already given in to the lies and the fear. And the source of both is the current pathological fear monger occupying the White House. As evidence of just how dangerous Trump’s menacing assault on the media is, he provided an example in his response to Acosta’s resignation…

“Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, ‘Death Valley,’ because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!). Word is that he wants to QUIT, and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up. Good luck Jim!”

True to form, Trump lashes out like a colicky infant who is consumed by his toxic narcissism and thirst for vengeance. He doesn’t bother to offer any support for his allegations that Acosta is a “dishonest reporter.” But that’s only because there isn’t any support for that. Although Trump does project his own leadership in the “major sleazebag” competition onto Acosta.

Furthermore, while CNN’s ratings have been pretty dismal of late, Acosta’s program has led the network in each of the time periods where he has been scheduled. So Trump’s assertion that Acosta’s fate was determined by “extraordinarily BAD RATINGS” is a flagrant falsehood. And Trump’s prediction that he “will fail no matter where he ends up,” is unlikely to pan out. Acosta can only improve his status by moving to another network, almost all of which have better ratings than CNN. And he can also choose to start his own media operation that could surpass the boundaries of legacy media.

It’s uncanny how many of the adjectives that Trump unleashed in his harangue against Acosta that apply more accurately to Trump himself: “worst,” “most dishonest,” “major sleazebag,” “fake,” “no talent,” and “major loser.” And while he did manage to swindle enough gullible voters to regain the presidency, he will still fail miserably, because that’s all he’s ever done at anything he’s attempted.

Sadly, Trump’s failures now will draw a lot of other innocent people down with him. So it is more imperative than ever to remain alert and to resist his destructive agenda. Remember, the mid term elections in 2026 could return Democrats to the majority in Congress. And Trump has already committed numerous impeachable acts.
