When Donald Trump reoccupied the White House last year, he went to great pains to avoid what he considered mistakes during his first occupation. For the most part that meant surrounding himself with drooling sycophants that he could trust to be loyal to him only, rather than to the law or the Constitution or the American people.

Trump did a pretty good job of that by appointing the most unqualified, incompetent clowns – many recruited directly from Fox News – to his Cabinet and other senior administration posts that he could rest assured would never do anything without his approval, and who would never contradict or challenge him. At least not intentionally. The result is a confederacy of devoted MAGA-tists who worship Dear Leader…

While Trump’s flunkies perform down to their expectations most of the time, the instances of unintentional departures from the regime dogma are serious and increasingly frequent. They include U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro contradicting Trump’s lies about vandals doing damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth leaking the depletion of U.S. munitions stockpiles.

However, the most serious propaganda breakdown may have just been perpetrated by Trump’s Vice-President, JD Vance. A few weeks ago Trump made Vance his “Fraud Czar,” presumably to crack down on anyone who tried to move in on mob boss Trump’s territory.

On Thursday, Vance sat down for a friendly interview with Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, during which he came out in favor of prosecuting and imprisoning people who commit fraud at the expense of American taxpayers. He said that…

“I don’t care where you’re from. I don’t care what your name is. If you’re committing fraud against the American people, all of us in public leadership should be trying to stop it and try to throw you in prison for enriching yourself off of the American taxpayer.”

Does that sound like anyone you know? For the record, Donald Trump has been found liable for fraud in civil court for ripping off students of his phony university. He has had his charity shut down for fraudulent misuse of funds. And he was convicted on 34 felony charges of fraud related to his business dealings and association with porn star, Stormy Daniels.

These and numerous other scams were all designed to illegally enriched himself. And now his Fraud Czar is declaring that such behavior will be punished with prosecution and imprisonment. We’ll see. But don’t hold your breath. To date the only actions taken by Trump with regard to fraudsters has been to pardon them and to relieve them of paying any restitution to their victims. The only “victim” that he believes deserves restitution is himself.
