Glenn Beck Guns For More Money

If there is one thing you can say about Glenn Beck it’s that he is the consummate capitalist, practiced in the arts of Snake Oil salesmanship and Apocalypse Marketing. He has parlayed those skills into a commercial exploitation empire that spans television, radio, Internet, publishing, theater, merchandising, and of course, advertising.

As the survivors and victims of the Tucson massacre are still mourning and healing, Beck has reached out to new clientele in the pursuit of higher profits:

Note that this is not an advertisement for sporting gear or self defense. It is an ad selling “revolution.” As any marketing professional will tell you, the words and images in ads are deliberately chosen and tested to produce a desired response from their target audience. It is plain that Beck is seizing upon the recent tragedy to fatten his wallet. At the same time he is advancing his mission to arm his congregation for the approaching battle.

This new sponsor fits in well with the Apocalypse Marketing strategy Beck has forged. After acquiring your Food Insurance, stashing your valuables in Liberty Safes, and hoarding coins from Goldline, don’t forget to stock your armory.

It would be naive to assume that the timing of this is coincidental. Beck and his sponsor are taking advantage of current events to commence, not an ad campaign, but, as the ad says, a new revolution. In fact, Beck has already declared explicitly that…

“The revolution has begun – I never thought I would say those words, but I understand that it has today. […] You must understand, you are in a revolution, a global revolution whether you like it or not and the rules of the games have changed.”

This is the same man who recently said that the only way to stop the progressives in Washington is to “shoot them in the head.” This man is an imminent danger to society. It is the pinnacle of irresponsibility for Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes to continue to allow him this platform that he uses to foment hate and violence. And it only makes it worse when they brazenly profit from this madness.

  1. I think they are way behind the curve on this one, gun sales have been booming since Barak OBama was elected, they’re late to this party. Although I guess better late than never.

    • Yes, gun and ammo sales boomed on the basis of completely unfounded fears spread by an opportunistic industry preying on the willfully ignorant.

      • at least someone was having a good year in business. It’s a trust issue like any other, Barak Obama did not campaign on gun control, but with democratic control of both the House and Senate – nothing can be ruled out. I for one would love to see registration requirements go away permanently, no chance of that with this president.

        • If you changed that to “guitars” I’d have no disagreement with you! šŸ˜€

            • There was no indication draconian gun control was on the table. There was no indication it was even in the discussion. Legislation takes time to happen, anyway, so yes the fears were unfounded and an industry found a way to play into those fears, and feed them, so they could bolster sales.

And maybe *you* can never have enough guns, but I have no desire to own even one. My twin brother loves them for target practice, but it’s not my thing. By the way, my brother could never use his for home protection, because as a responsible gun owner with kids, he keeps the guns locked up in a safe, unloaded, and the ammunition separated.

            • Sammy, don’t sweat it – I’m not arguing with you….it’s a free country and you and/or your brother can do whatever you please with guns. You can choose never to own one or buy 100s, whatever. During the election and even after – no, it appears gun control wasn’t really discussed, but again, as I stated before, it’s a trust issue. I don’t trust the governmetn even a little bit – zero, nothing..100% distrust, so I won’t take my chances even if not “on the table” at the time.

      • I agree that fear did probably play a part, but not unfounded fear. The democratic party does not have a good track record on gun control – if you are a strong 2nd amendment supporter. With the control they had, anything could have happened, but it didn’t…fortunately. Willful ignorance had no part in the boom in gun sales. Many people like and buy guns for all kinds of reasons. Not sure how Glenn Beck will impact the sales of his sponsor.

  2. Don’t forget – FUX (Newscorp) is also partially owned by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal. A Saudi prince. Who purchased his 6% stake in Newscorps to INFLUENCE AMERICAN thinking on Global Warming so that Oil sales would not be affected (amoung other things…) Look him up.
