Trump Escalates His War on the Press – and the Courts – with Predictably Preposterous Results

The road toward totalitarianism that Donald Trump has taken since he was reelected last November is becoming ever more clear with each day of his reoccupation of the White House. Despite being reprimanded and constrained by judicial injunctions, Trump continues to ignore the courts and forge his own unlawful path to satisfy his autocratic cravings.

Earlier this year, Trump acted out his aspirational dreams of being America’s first dictator by banning the Associated Press from presidential events because they refused to obey his petty and unconstitutional demand to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. It was a blatant violation of the First Amendment’s protection of the free press.

Undaunted by the principles of press freedom and the rule of law, Trump has now defied a court ruling to allow the AP into his media avails. According to Mediaite…

“Despite a recent injunction reinstating access, an AP spokesperson confirmed their journalists were denied access to an Oval Office press event on Monday. ‘Our journalists were blocked from the Oval Office today. We expect the White House to restore AP’s participation in the pool as of today, as provided in the injunction order.’”

The AP is being extraordinarily naïve if they really expect Trump to comply with the law. He has already demonstrated his disrespect for law and order by refusing to comply with a judge’s ruling to facilitate the return of a Maryland father that Trump’s immigration regime unlawfully sent to a gulag in El Salvador.

As a result of Trump’s efforts to banish credible journalists from the White House press pool, we are seeing more questions like the one that Trump received on Monday about his recent physical examination. Brian Glenn, a “reporter” from the rabidly right-wing MAGA outlet, Real America’s Voice (and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend), raised the subject with an adoring preface and a sickly sycophantic slant in the following exchange…

Reporter: You got a perfect health report. Everybody in the press wants to know this. How do you do it Mr President? … How do you stay so healthy? … How in the world do you do it? I’m 55 years old and I can’t keep up with you.
Trump: Because I enjoy what I’m doing […] Thank you. That’s a nice question. I like this guy!

HOLY SHIH TZU! Could this get any closer to parody? Why didn’t the reporter just ask why Trump is so handsome, smarter than Einstein, and better fit than an NFL quarterback? Which is not far from what Trump’s alleged physical report claimed. It says that he is 6’3″ and 224 pounds. Which is almost identical to that of Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The question above was not the first of its kind. Last week a “reporter” from MyPillow’s Mike Lindell network asked…

“Trump looks healthier than ever before. I’m sure everybody in this room could agree. Is he working out with Bobby Kennedy and is he eating less McDonald’s?”

Are these reporters so infatuated with Trump that this is their way of asking him out on date? Notice that in both questions the reporter spoke for everyone else in the press pool, asserting that they all agree that Trump is a superior human specimen. However, most of the rest of the country doesn’t hold these perverse views. In fact, they are increasingly repulsed by Trump and his performance in office.

According to a new CBS News poll, “Most Americans recognize that the economy is getting worse.” Although there is a sharp partisan divide showing that 80% of Democrats say the economy is “bad” while 62% of Republicans say it’s “good.” Overall, Trump’s disapproval rating shot up to a majority 53% from 47% two short months ago.

What’s more, the percentage of Americans who say the economy is getting worse rose 11 points from 42% to 53% between November and March. And who is to blame for the worsening economy flipped in the past month from Biden by 4 point to Trump by 33 points – a 54% majority saying Trump is to blame.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to attack the media. His latest salvo is another swipe at CBS 60 Minutes over Sunday’s program that featured an interview of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, and a story about Greenland. Trump posted a rambling rant on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“I am so honored to be suing 60 Minutes, CBS Fake News, and Paramount, over their fraudulent, beyond recognition, reporting. They did everything possible to illegally elect Kamala, including completely and corruptly changing major answers to Interview questions.” [And that…]

“They should lose their license! Hopefully, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as headed by its Highly Respected Chairman, Brendan Carr, will impose the maximum fines and punishment, which is substantial, for their unlawful and illegal behavior.”

This psychotic scrambled egghead is still obsessed with Kamala Harris. And he is imagining “unlawful and illegal behavior” where none exists. Over which he has given orders to his FCC chair to commence some sort of punitive proceedings. These are the acts of an aspiring authoritarian who seeks to muzzle the media and ship his critics off to foreign prisons. And if the American people don’t rise up to reject it, many of them may find themselves in the same boat.

Trump Baby on Cash Pile

Yes, that complaint makes no sense whatsoever to anyone with a 6th grade grasp of economics. Which eliminates Trump. But it is what Trump and his MAGA minions are insisting is the brilliant plan that is elevating the United States to new heights of wealth and is working precisely as it was intended, despite his having reversed course several times and capitulated meekly to foreign adversaries.

In the two weeks that have transpired since being “liberated,” the stock market has gyrated wildly and ended up about 2,000 points lower than where it was before Trump’s tariff blunders, and 4,000 points below where it was when he inherited it from President Biden.

So while the nation – and the world – is suffering the dreadful consequences of Trump’s purposeful incompetence, it seems like a good time to see how all of this has affected what could be called the “Trump Index” a bundle of investments affiliated with the confounder-in chief.

Trump Media and Technology Group (DJT):
The natural place to begin is with Trump’s own business that is the parent of his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. Investors in this dog have lost about 50% from its price on Trump’s inauguration day twelve weeks ago. And it’s down a whopping 89% from its all time high.

Trump Meme Coin:
This is Trump’s entry into cryptocurrency that he launched on the day before his inauguration. And its performance since then has been a dismal decline of about 90%.

Newsmax (NMAX):
This notoriously pro-Trump MAGA media outlet went public about two weeks ago. Since then it has dropped 91% from its trading highs, making early investors significantly poorer, while simultaneously making them significantly more ignorant.

Rumble (RUM):
This is the MAGA world answer to YouTube. They record and post virtually every public appearance by Trump with unabashedly biased commentary from their Trump-fluffing correspondents. It has declined 43% since Trump’s inauguration.

Tesla (TSLA):
The automaker headed up by Trump’s billionaire oligarch, co-president, and director of the phony Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, has suffered a sever decline of 41% since Trump was sworn into office in January.

But not to worry. Trump and his cabal of billionaires will be just fine. They may have lost a small portion of their wealth, but only their loyal cult followers will feel the brunt of these abysmal investments. The the real targets of their economic assault – the American people – will be the most seriously wounded victims of this class war. And of course, it is, as Trump and his cohorts insist, all going according to their plan. Comforting, isn’t it?

Trump’s account of his health was a predictably glowing example of a superior human specimen whose 78 year old body has another 78 prime years left in it. Never mind that he can barely navigate a slight inclined path or play nine holes without his golf cart. And that’s not even addressing his obvious and long-standing cognitive deficiencies.

On Friday’s episode of “The Five” on Fox News, co-host Jesse Watters demonstrated why he is widely known as the dumbest man on television. In a segment about Trump’s physical exam, Watters replied to his Fox colleague, Brian Kilmeade, with his hallmark derpitude…

Kilmeade: Do you think that Trump will grade high in his physical judging from what you can see?
Watters: Healthy as an ox. 6′ 6″, 195, the stamina of an Olympic athlete. We’re gonna get probably a vague statement, and that’s fine. I don’t want to know his health. I think he’s fine. I don’t need to know what pills he is taking or not taking. He looks great.”

It’s unusual for anyone on an alleged “news” network to embrace the withholding of information about government or its key personnel. Generally they will want full transparency and all the info that they can get their hands on. But Watters says that he’s “fine” with knowing nothing, or maybe just a “vague statement”

Why would Watters be so easily comforted with crumbs of data about Trump when he has regularly demanded so much more about Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, or any other Democratic politician? Apparently because he can tell by just looking at him that Trump is in peak physical condition. Consequently, if he actually has any acute medical problems, including brain functionality, that are not visible to his layman’s eyes, Watters couldn’t care less. Trump could be on high doses of psychoactive pharmaceuticals and Watters doesn’t even want to know.

For his part, Trump spoke to a reporter after his exam and told him that he “got every answer right,” on a cognitive test. This is a reprise of his infamous account of his supposed mental acuity because he was able to recite “person, woman, man, camera, tv” in a test that was not measuring IQ, but was a simple test given to people who were being evaluated for early signs of dementia. Then Trump went on to claim, contrary to observable evidence, that “I’m in very good shape. Good heart. Good soul. Very good soul.”

“Good soul”? Trump seems to believe that his annual physical includes a doctor’s examination of his spiritual essence. And that he got a divine endorsement despite his lifelong rejection of faith, his multiple failed marriages, pathological lying, boundless greed, deliberate mismanagement of a pandemic that killed more than a million Americans, separation and incarceration of migrant children, abandonment of Ukrainian allies, incitement of a deadly insurrection, and many more acts of blatant evil that are too numerous to enumerate.

WTF? Does Trump think that in his annual physical the doctor examined his soul?If he had, he would have seen…

The White House has said that Trump’s medical report from the physical will be released Sunday. But judging from the reliability of such promises in the past, it would be foolish to expect the report to made public any time soon. And when it is, we can expect it to be heavily redacted so that any honest or useful information will have already been removed.

And that will be fine with Jesse Watters, and everyone else at Fox News, who are content to know only what Dear Leader permits them to know. That’s how cults work.

From day one Trump embarked on a malevolent mission to undermine democracy, persecute his political foes, and reshape the republic into an autocratic oligarchy that elevates the wealthy at the expense of average citizens. And at the top of Trump’s list of priorities was to enshrine himself as the Messiah of America who all must worship and obey.

The daily disgorging of chaos emanating from the Trump White House often has the effect of burying one calamity or another as Trump introduces something new to deflect from whatever horror has deluged the news cycle for the moment. And in recent days that is particularly true about the war in Ukraine that seems to have disappeared from the media spotlight lately.

Well, now that Trump and his tariffs have caused an economic meltdown that is likely to result in a recession, he is dredging up the Ukraine war, but only to exploit it in an effort to take the heat off of his latest presidential blunder. Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that declared that…

“Russia has to get moving. Too many people ere DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war – A war that should have never happened, and wouldn’t have happened, if I were President!!!”

This might be a good time to remind everyone that, during the 2024 campaign, Trump swore that if he were elected he would forge a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours with a single phone call before he was even inaugurated. He’s been in office now for two and half months and has achieved less than nothing as Russia has actually escalated their bombing of civilians in Ukraine.

Trump has meekly complained about this previously a couple of times, begging Russia to come to the table. Zelenskyy has already promised to do so. But Trump’s buddy and idol, Vladimir Putin is ignoring him and probably laughing at him. Which makes Trump’s frequent claim that this war would never have started in the first place if he had been president at the time seem pitifully impotent.

Trump’s claim that his presence alone would have prevented Russia from invading Ukraine implies that Putin would be either too afraid of Trump to take such aggressive action, or that Putin so admired Trump that his influence would be irresistible. But it’s clear now that neither of those scenarios have an iota of truth to them. If Putin won’t listen to Trump now when he’s telling him to seek a peaceful resolution, it’s safe to assume that he wouldn’t have listened when he was first plotting to invade.

Therefore, Trump is what professional political analysts call “full of shit!” And consequently, so is his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who told reporters on Friday that…

“The president has been quite clear that he has been continually frustrated with both sides of this conflict and he wants to see this fighting end. He wants the war to end. We believe we have leverage in negotiating a deal, a peace deal. And we’re going to use that leverage. And the president is determined to see this through.”

See? Trump wants the war to end. Zelenskyy wants the war to end. Only Putin, who could end the war unilaterally in seconds, is stubbornly insisting that the war continue. And this is further evidence that, despite Leavitt’s remarks, Trump has no leverage whatsoever.

But then, Leavitt’s perspective of the world is light years away from reality. When addressing Trump’s visit to Walter Reed Medical Center for his annual physical, Leavitt responded to a preposterous question (by a “reporter” with pillow guy Mike Lindell’s network) that began by stating that “Trump looks healthier than ever before,” with an equally preposterous answer…

Trump’s “governing by chaos” method of mismanagement is producing precisely the sort of results that virtually every credible economist predicted way in advance. Both the stock market and the bond market took severe hits, depleting $6 trillion in assets, decimating the savings of millions of Americans, while setting up the uppercrusters to further enrich themselves.

in response to this fiscal fiasco, the Trump administration gathered their most reliable apostles and dispatched them to the MAGA media to spread their gospel. Leading the pack was Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who has made more appearances on Fox News than in the White House press room. On Thursday Leavitt sat for a friendly conversation with Fox’s Martha MacCallum. And she read solemnly from the Trump hymnal saying that…

“There’s great reason to be optimistic about America’s economy. Trust in President Trump. Look at what he did in his first term. Companies would be best served doing business right here in the United States.”

And there you have it. All you need in order to be bathed in the glow of illusory optimism is to place your trust in Dear Leader, who is divine and infallible. And the evidence of his divinity is observed in his miracles of the past.

Just in case you’ve forgotten, During Trump’s first term he presided over the deaths of more than a million Americans due to the COVID pandemic that he grossly mismanaged. The economy was in tatters, and far worse off than every other industrialized nation. More businesses were shuttered than at any time in generations. And Trump was the first president in decades to leave office with fewer Americans employed than when he began.

What’s more, Trump tried to extort the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to pressure him to dig up dirt on Joe Biden prior to the 2020 election that Trump still says (aka lies) was “rigged and stolen” from him. And Trump incited a violent and deadly riot by insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to undermine democracy and prevent the certification of Biden’s election. Both of those incidents resulted in his unprecedented two impeachments.

That’s the resume upon which Leavitt is asking you all to rely for confidence going forward in Trump’s second occupation of the White House. And her simplistic suggestion that every company would be better off doing business in the U.S. ignores all of the rational arguments for taking advantage of the many benefits of diversifying production internationally, including labor, real estate, transport, and natural resources.

Leavitt’s plea to the nation to “trust in Trump” is more of the sort of adoration that sets the Trump cult apart from other political movements. This subservient demand for blind devotion is a hallmark of the Trump cabal. It was further affirmed during another one of his adulatory Cabinet meetings where all of his Pharisees are required to demonstrate their veneration of the Master. And venerate they did. For instance…

  • Attorney Genuflect Pam Bondi lied that Trump was “overwhelmingly elected by the biggest majority.” [Trump’s margin was one of the lowest ever]
  • Treasury Sycophantry Scott Bessent celebrated the stock market being “Up two [days], down one is not a bad ratio.” [The stock market has been down five of the last six days]
  • Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins gushed that “What you have assembled in your vision is a turning point in American history.” [That’s actually true, but for all negative reasons]
  • Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler drooled “Mr President, on behalf of America’s manufacturers, I want to thank you…main street is grateful for you.” [Main Street in Moscow]

This is a typical Cabinet meeting for the Trump regime. There is virtually nothing done that advances the interests of the American people. It’s sole purpose is to inflate Trump’s massive yet fragile ego. Like most other cult leaders, he demands to be worshipped. And while his flock will obey, it’s increasingly clear that the American public will not.

Did Trump Commit Illegal Stock Manipulation and Insider Trading Prior to His Tariff Cave-In?

On April 2, 2025, Donald Trump declared that it is “Liberation Day,” in America due to his imposition of punitive tariffs on most of the world that were widely predicted to result in inflation, recession, and unprecedented deliberate harm to the American people and American businesses.

Immediately after Trump’s announcement, the stock market went into free fall, wiping out about $6 trillion in assets and depleting the savings of millions of investors and private citizens, especially seniors who would need those funds as they prepare for retirement. But not to worry, as Fox News warned their glassy-eyed viewers to clam up, because any criticism of Dear Leader and his disastrous economic policies were unpatriotic.

On Wednesday morning Trump did what he swore he would never do: Reverse course and rescind his tariffs. Despite the fact that he adamantly objected to any reports that he was considering to pause his plans, he has now paused his plans for 90 days. And he got absolutely nothing in return for doing so. He posted a rambling comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social that said “I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period.”

However, there is another decidedly troubling component to this situation. At 6:37am ET, Trump posted a comment saying that “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!” Then a few hours later he caved on his tariffs that he previously insisted were “here to stay.” So by announcing that it was a great time to buy, when he knew that he would shortly be pausing the tariffs, was he in violation of stock manipulation and/or insider trading laws?

Trump cannot pretend that his buying advice was unrelated to to his tariff pause, or that he didn’t know about it at the time. His Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, had already tweeted that he and Trump discussed it on the previous Sunday. Bessent wrote that…

“Trump and I had a long talk on Sunday and this was his strategy all along. You might even say that he goaded China into a bad position.”

Clearly Trump knew that he intended to pause his tariffs days before he did so. And he knew how that would affect the market, because on Tuesday a rumor to that effect caused the market to take a sharp upward spike briefly, until the White House shot it down. Also, note that Bessent’s comment included his opinion that Trump never intended to resolve the trade issue with China. Instead, he was hoping to inflame it by “goad[ing] China into a bad position.” How is that in the best interests of the U.S. or the American people?

Furthermore, since Trump’s pause did not include America’s biggest trading partner, China, on whom he actually increased tariffs to 125%, the detrimental impact of the tariffs would remain in tact. What’s more, there are no details of how other countries would be impacted by the pause, or which ones were included. Since Europe, Canada, Mexico, and other countries with significant trading volume did not capitulate to Trump, it would be fair to assume that they were not included in the pause.

Consequently, this pause would have little effect. Pausing the tariffs on tiny nation-states like Lesotho, and an island inhabited only by penguins, isn’t likely to increase America’s trade prospects. However, the advance notice that Trump gave to his MAGA minions could reap them substantial profits. And perhaps for himself as well, since Trump has his own investment portfolio that will likely rise due to his potentially unlawful machinations. Imagine if President Biden had done this. Republicans would be reassembling the guillotine they built on January 6, 2021.

Naturally, the knee-jerk response by the faithful devotees of the Trump cult is to stiffen their noodly spines and lie that everything is fine and is going precisely according to plan. Consequently, we have people like…

Peter Navarro (Trump’s senior counselor for trade) celebrating that “There’s going to be plenty of jobs for robots” as Trump’s policies pan out.

And there’s GOP House Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson begging everyone to “give him space,” to let his strategy work. But rest assured that when it fails Johnson will be calling it Biden’s strategy.

And the Trump-fluffers on Fox & Friends are consoling their viewers to relax because “If it doesn’t work, [Trump] can always go back to the way it used to be.” Right! But after all the damage has already been done, who’s gonna reimburse those who lost their life savings? Trump? Fox News?

Another example of a Trumpist pitching a blatantly dishonest perspective on Trump’s still unfolding catastrophe was the Director of his National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, who rushed off to Fox News (where else?) to praise Trump for being a master dealmaker and author of “The Art of the Deal,” In reality, Trump is neither.

While it may seem that there is nothing funny about any of this, Jon Stewart of the Daily Show tackled this subject Monday night and found a way to be both educational and hilarious. He hit on a variety of critical components of the Trump economic fiasco, such as…

  • On Tarriffs: They are both a negotiation and not a negotiation – both temporary and permanent.
  • On Job Creation: Millions of people screwing in little screws – We are robot fluffers.
  • On the Stock Market Crash: We should be impressed by how smoothly it went.
  • On Trusting Great Negotiator Trump: His own book cites his “successes” – Like his casinos that went bankrupt.

As is often the case, comedy is proving to be a better vehicle for informing the public than much of the mainstream news. It not only delivers complex facts in a digestible and understandable format, it offers the emotional release that most people can relate to when confronted by such disturbing facts. Conventional journalists should be watching and taking notes.

He took a nation with the strongest financial profile in the world, and has led it into a debacle that is dragging the rest of world down with it.

This fiasco was 100% generated by the ignorance, arrogance, and ego of Trump, and was completely unnecessary. His boneheaded blanketing of tariffs on nearly every country across the globe (except, of course, for Russia), has resulted in the worst stock market crash since March of 2020, in the midst of a deadly pandemic that he also mismanaged with deadly consequences. And he has no idea whatsoever what to do about any of it.

On Monday morning, Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, hosted a segment of her program to discuss Trump’s deliberate destruction of the American economy. And her commentary was somewhat out of character for someone who is such a reliable devotee of the Trump cult. But that just reinforces how extraordinarily ghastly Trump’s bungling of the business of America has been. When asked about what the impact of Trump’s tariffs will be, she said…

“Well, it is going to have an effect on Main Street. Some things will become higher priced. We will see some products actually be raised in price because companies will pass on the cost of tariffs to consumers. I would expect that.

“That’s why you have some people saying that we could see a recession. We’ll see a growth slowdown. […] U.S. real GDP is on track to decline about one percent in the second quarter, and in the third quarter with unemployment rising.”

You don’t say? This is what credible economists have saying for months. It is a complete repudiation of Trump’s preposterous lies that foreign countries are the ones who pay the tariffs. Bartiromo is acknowledging that it is the domestic importers who pay, and then pass those costs on to consumers. How long will it be before Trump denounces her as a radical left lunatic spreading fake news?

Bartiromo went even further to acknowledge that a recession is a probable outcome of Trump’s idiocy. Although she doesn’t put it in terms quite as stark and accurate as that. In fact, Bartiromo actually appears to have chickened out at the end of her remarks, saying…

“But look, President Trump told us that we were going to see a disruption. We are in that disruption right now. The bottom line is when you’re looking at this situation from 30,000 feet above, he’s trying to rejigger the economy so that the U.S. is not reliant on China for prescription drugs, or Taiwan for advanced semiconductor chips, to try to get manufacturing here. So yes, I do expect this to hit the Main Street and hit prices that will go higher.”

See? It’s all part of Trump’s grand plan. He isn’t throwing the nation into an economic sinkhole. He’s just “rejiggering” it to increase domestic manufacturing. Never mind that tariffs would have the opposite effect because no manufacturer would invest billions of dollars, and several years, to build new factories when Trump’s policies are so unstable, unpredictable, and detrimental to growth.

What’s more, President Biden already got semiconductor, and other tech companies, to commit to domestic production without imposing devastating tariffs. See the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.

Bartiromo isn’t the only MAGA maven to concede that Trump is sabotaging the U.S. economy. CNN is reporting that a gaggle of billionaire Trump supporters are hammering his economic policies. They are warning of an “economic nuclear winter,” and using terms like “recession,” “stupid, wrong, [and] arrogantly extreme.”

Trump has done a lot of dumb and dangerous things in the few weeks since his reoccupation of the White House. Including shuttering critical government services that will cost lives, firing independent inspectors general, threatening Social Security and Medicare, deporting citizens and legal residents to El Salvadorian gulags, and attacking and suppressing the free press.

But with his appalling economic policies Trump may have angered the one group that he actually cares anything about – his fellow wealthy, uppercrust elitists and greedy oligarchs. Or as he will shortly start to refer to the: radical left lunatics.

Fox News Spikes Story by Their Own Reporter Who Asked Why Trump is Sucking Up to Laura Loomer

It isn’t often that Fox News stumbles onto a factual presentation of a political story, particularly if it involves their designated messiah and cult commander, Donald Trump. Generally they obediently parrot whatever Dear Leader says, and then divert to some unrelated nonsense that they repeat ad nauseum to drill it into their vacuous viewing audience.

Most of Fox News “reporting” consists of smearing random Democrats, or spreading fictional accounts of imaginary liberal malfeasance, or inventing preposterous tales of misbehavior by migrants such as eating cats and dogs. It really doesn’t matter to Fox News how they mislead viewers, as long it keeps them glued to the network to have their devotion to Trump be continually reinforced.

The Fox News mission to canonize Trump was on display recently after a story about his relationship with Internet troll and conspiracy crackpot, Laura Loomer, made headlines. Multiple reputable news outlets reported on Loomer’s influence over Trump with regard to her role in the dismissal of National Security Agency (NSA) Director, General Timothy Haugh and other intelligence officials.

On Friday, Trump fired Gen. Haugh after a meeting with Loomer in the Oval Office. Loomer was reported to have presented Trump with a list of officials she deemed disloyal to Trump. Never mind that she has zero experience in intelligence or national security matters. And her concern – and that of Trump – was not disloyalty to the nation or the Constitution, but to Trump personally.

Not surprisingly, this incident has raised concerns about the politicization of national security and the potential undermining of America’s intelligence interests and institutional stability. Among those concerned was Fox News chief national security correspondent, Jennifer Griffin. She expressed her concerns in a tweet on Saturday asking…

“Why is the administration dismantling the nation’s cyber defenses at such a dangerous time? The President orders the firing of NSA director Gen Haugh after meeting with conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer in the Oval Office without consulting the Pentagon. Gen Haugh was fired for no reason while traveling to Japan. No replacement has been named for nearly 48 hours suggesting there was no plan. This after the administration has taken steps to dismantle CISA [Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency]. What is going on and why isn’t there loud bipartisan demand for answers?”

The fact that Loomer could even gain access to the Oval Office is shockingly disturbing and a dreadful omen for the future of the country. But even worse is that Trump would favor her opinion on national security matters over that of his Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, and his National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz.

Waltz was in the room with Trump and Loomer when she was badmouthing Haugh. He reportedly made a weak attempt to defend his deputies, but gave up rather quickly. Although Waltz may be out of favor after having invited a reporter into an attack planning chat on an unsecure commercial app.

Griffin’s reporting on this story appears to consist entirely of the tweet noted above. While the significance of her comment is readily apparent, and unquestionably newsworthy, Fox News appears to question it anyway. They have not had Griffin on the air to report her story, or even posted it on their website.

So the revelations about Trump’s embrace of Loomer, or the questions about Trump’s “dismantling the nation’s cyber defenses,” or why Republicans in Congress are silent about it, are all being ignored by Fox News. Consequently, anyone relying on Fox News for information will remain in a state of blissful ignorance.

It’s bad enough that Fox’s coverage of current events is so heavily slanted toward the far-right. But when they are so committed to distorting their reporting that they even muzzle their chief correspondents, it is impossible to take the network seriously as anything other than the Ministry of Propaganda for Trump. Which everyone who is paying attention already knew.

The Trump Regime Just Purged Nearly 400 Books From the US Naval Academy Because of…DEI?

The determination of Donald Trump and his white-wing MAGA movement to erase any and all evidence of America’s rich medley of humanity and culture has been a key component of its mission from its inception. To describe it as merely racist would be far too inadequate to accurately convey its noxious intent.

In the two months since Trump’s reoccupation of the White House, he and his Klan have sought to undermine democracy, cancel the Constitution, and foment hatred and division among the American people, always casting themselves as the victims.

High on their list of purely putrid priorities is their campaign against DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs, whether in government or private enterprise. Because the worst thing that the Trump cult can imagine is a country that honors its diverse population, where all are treated equally, and who can be included in the benefits that a free society provides.

Consequently, the Trump regime has been working overtime to eliminate DEI programs from every government agency, while simultaneously bullying private companies into dropping their programs.

Among the preposterous results of this barrage of bigotry was the deletion of a web page about baseball great and veteran, Jackie Robinson, from the Defense Department website. And then there was the scrapping of info about the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima because its name was “Enola Gay.” Many other examples exist of atrocious cancelations of notable Americans simply because their gender, their religion, or the color of their skin offended the Trumpists.

The latest victim of this censorious purge is the library of the United States Naval Academy. According to Navy spokesman Cmdr. Tim Hawkins, “Nearly 400 books were removed from Nimitz Library to comply with directives outlined in Executive Orders issued by the President.” As reported by CBS News…

“Books on the Holocaust, histories of feminism, civil rights and racism, and Maya Angelou’s famous autobiography, ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,’ were among the nearly 400 volumes removed from the U.S. Naval Academy’s library this week after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office ordered the school to get rid of ones that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.” […]

“Other books clearly deal with subjects that have been stridently targeted by the Trump administration, including gender identity, sexuality and transgender issues. A wide array of books on race and gender were targeted, dealing with such topics as African American women poets [and] historical books on racism, the Ku Klux Klan and the treatment of women, gender and race in art and literature.”

There is no justification for this brazenly fascist act of censorship and bigotry. It would be unthinkable for any business or government agency act this way. But it is particularly galling when an honorable institution like the U.S. Naval Academy is being forced to engage in such toxic, unconstitutional misbehavior.

Sadly, this is what it has come to in Trump’s (per)version of America. They simply have zero tolerance for anyone who doesn’t look and act like them. So he orders his utterly unqualified secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, to cleanse the Academy’s library of materials that they find offensive.

Furthermore, there is a repugnant irony in that Hegseth himself is a product of the rankest form of bias in the hiring of blind Trump loyalists with no experience whatsoever for the jobs they’ve been asked to do. What ever happened to merit-based recruiting?

Apparently the Trump regime believes that America’s soldiers are too weak to handle an honest and complete accounting of American history. So they have to sanitize it of any references to heroes who don’t fit their pale-faced, Jesus-fearing, far-right GOP model of supremacy. And that’s supposed to make America great?
