Oscar Winning Documentary Director (Mr. Nobody Against Putin) Notes Grim Parallels to America

Sunday night’s Academy Awards show was mostly focused on recognizing cinematic achievement and the people who make make it all possible. But there were a few moments that captured some of the zeitgeist that is circulating among the American viewers of the program.

Trump with Oscar

First of all, it should be noted that the evening was hosted by Conan O’Brien. This likely made it a must watch for Donald Trump, who can’t resist hate-watching comedians who so brilliantly ridicule him. O’Brien included a comment in his opening monologue that mocked Trump’s egomaniacal penchant for naming things after himself, saying that “We are coming to you live from the ‘Has a Small Penis Theater.’ Let’s see him put his name in front of that.” Which is a great beginning for this program that followed the Writer’s Guild ceremony last week, where another comedian that Trump hates, Stephen Colbert, received a special award.

SEE THIS: Stephen Colbert Delivers a Hilarious Acceptance/Farewell Speech at Writers Guild Award Ceremony

Notable among the night’s honorees was the winner for Documentary Feature. And no, it wasn’t for the dreadful “Melania” flop. The winner was “Mr. Nobody Against Putin,” a documentary about a Russian educator who courageously defied Vladimir Putin’s tyrannical regime. The director, David Borenstein, gave one of the night’s most heartfelt and moving acceptance speeches, saying that…

“Mr. Nobody Against Putin is about how you lose your country. And what we saw when working with this footage, it’s that you lose it through countless small little acts of complicity.

“When we act complicit, when a government murders people on the streets of our major cities, when we don’t say anything, when oligarchs take over the media and control how we can produce it and consume, we all face a moral choice. But luckily, even a ‘nobody’ is more powerful than you think.”

David Borenstein, the director of the Oscar winning documentary "Mr. Nobody Against Putin" delivers a stirring acceptance speech about "how you lose your country" that every American must pay attention to.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2026-03-16T11:32:20.092Z

Borenstein’s remarks were a warning for Americans. The parallels between his documentary’s subject, and what the U.S. is going through now, are impossible to ignore. And the danger of complicity is ever-present as Trump’s thugs are shooting peaceful protesters, while his MAGA toadies in Congress and the “Justice” Department are silent about such atrocities. Even worse, they applaud him for it.

Borenstein’s comments about the media were especially pertinent. Many media corporations have already subjugated themselves to Trump. Whether it’s for fear of retaliation or genuine agreement is irrelevant. The result is a compliant and complicit media who betray the American principles enshrined in the Constitution. Which. by extension, is a betrayal of the American people.

Another Trump enemy, Jimmy Kimmel, was the presenter for the Documentary Feature award. And he had a few words for Trump as well. Kimmel lauded documentary filmmakers noting that…

“There are some countries whose leaders don’t support free speech. I’m not at liberty to say which. Let’s just leave it at North Korea and CBS.

[Adding praise for] “filmmakers dedicated to telling the truth, oftentimes at great risk to make films that teach us, that call out injustice, that inspire us to take action. And there are also documentaries where you walk around the White House trying on shoes.”

Jimmy Kimmel presenting at the Oscars: "There are some countries whose leaders don't support free speech. I'm not at liberty to say which. Let's just leave it at North Korea and CBS."

LateNighter (@latenightercom.bsky.social) 2026-03-16T01:21:41.910Z

It safe to assume that if Trump were watching this program he is seething with petulant anger and collecting ketchup bottles to throw at walls that never did anything to him. He is also likely plotting his revenge by posting some childishly nasty insults on Truth Social. That’ll teach ’em.

However, Trump will never accept the fact that, outside of his glassy-eyed cult followers, he is widely loathed and that most Americans can’t wait for him to be gone. Maybe if we invent some fake entertainment group to give Trump a made up award, with a cash payoff, in exchange for resigning, he will take the prize and the money and run. It’s worth a shot.

Trump Regime Clamps Down on ‘Stars and Stripes’ News For the Military Amid Iran War Fiasco

The determination of Donald Trump and his MAGA minions to assume authoritarian style control over the free press is rapidly advancing as he aggressively accelerates his abuse of power to subjugate the media. That abuse takes the form of persecution by his “Justice” Department and overt threats of lawsuits and other forms of illegal punishment for any journalists who dare to report truthfully about him or challenge his MAGA-sty.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Constitution

Trump’s efforts to quash the Constitution’s First Amendment protection of the free press have already had some dreadful effects on the media. He has coerced corporations that own news divisions to acquiesce to his demands for more favorable coverage, to pay out settlements for bogus claims of defamation, and to make concessions in order to gain federal approvals for mergers and other business regulatory matters. And Trump is actually proud of that poisoning of the media environment.

SEE THIS: Trump Brags About Getting Fascist Control of the Media in Bonkers Truth Social Post

Trump’s Secretary of War Crimes, Pete Hegseth, has been a faithful partner in his assault on the press. He recently issued orders to ban journalists from the Pentagon who declined to sign loyalty oaths to Trump. That meant that the only officially credentialed reporters allowed access to the Pentagon were Trump-fluffing outlets like One America News.

The latest act of tyrannical propagandism by Hegseth is his edict constraining the reporting of the previously respected military publication, Stars and Stripes. According to NPR (which is one of the news outlets Hegseth banned from the Pentagon)…

“The Defense Department has begun to exert greater control over Stars and Stripes, weeks after a top spokesman accused the independent military newspaper of focusing on ‘woke distractions.’

“The Pentagon announced what it calls ‘modernization’ changes this week, in a memo dated March 9 and effective immediately, according to a copy seen by NPR and first reported by Stars and Stripes on Friday. It’s the latest effort by the Pentagon and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to apply extraordinary limits on journalists covering the agency.

“The memo says that Stars and Stripes will continue to ‘operate with editorial independence.’ However, it also says that the newspaper must immediately begin implementing the Defense Department’s new interim policies and stop publishing several types of content.”

It is no coincidence that the language used by the DoD spokesman, Sean Parnell, parroted Trump’s rhetoric of “woke” reporters who fail to sufficiently worship Dear Leader. Parnell specifically stated that the purpose of the so-called “modernization” of Stars and Stripes was to “refocus its content away from woke distractions that syphon (sic) morale.”

Parnell also complained about the use of wire services to augment the publication’s content, saying that there would be “No more repurposed DC gossip columns; no more Associated Press reprints.” Therefore, there will no longer be any reporting by credible journalists around the world. There will also no longer be any sports coverage, or entertainment stories, or comic strips. All of which are popular with the troops who are the primary readers of the paper.

More troubling is the fact that this change has been made just as the U.S. has embarked on a war with Iran. So Stars and Stripes readers will now be missing some of the most important stories that in the past would have kept them informed about the state of the world and the American military’s place in it.

It can’t be ignored that Hegseth and Trump are just trying to insure that our troops will never hear important stories, such as the bombing of an Iranian school that killed more than 150 children. Or that the Strait of Hormuz is being shut down by Iran. Or that Trump has declared that the war has already been won, but that he wants to continue the fighting – and the killing, and the placing of American troops in harms way – for fun.

Stars and Stripes itself covered the memo wherein Hegseth’s Pentagon ordered the constraints on the paper. They quoted a spokesman for PEN America, an organization that advocates for the free press, who said that…

“This clearly shows that the Pentagon is trying to increase its influence over content decisions at Stars and Stripes [and that] That’s a threat to the First Amendment.”

What this boils down to is that Trump and Hegseth are terrified of allowing Americas soldiers access to information that directly affects their lives and the lives of their families. It’s a dictator’s approach to free speech and democracy. So naturally Trump has embraced it as his own. Hopefully the reporters at Stars and Stripes – and all other media – will resist such censorship and continue to be faithful to the Constitution, rather to the felonious authoritarian occupying the White House.

Trump Brags About Getting Fascist Control of the Media in Bonkers Truth Social Post

Throughout his entire time in public life, Donald Trump has had a love/hate relationship with the media. What that boils down to is that he loves (and needs) it when they give him attention, but he hates it when that attention is honest reporting about his rampant incompetence and flaming stupidity.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump

As a result of this acutely befuddled psychosis, Trump regularly resorts to whining about his treatment by the press (that he maligns in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.”) in a manner that would shame a cranky seven year old. Trump’s penchant for petulant sniveling is a core feature of his severely disturbed psyche. He has even boasted that he is “the most fabulous whiner.” No, really. It’s on video…

SEE THIS: Victim-in-Chief: Trump is the most Cowardly, Whining, Crybaby to Ever Be President

Now Trump is taking his war on the media to a new level of totalitarian obsessions. On Saturday morning he posted a graphic on Truth Social with the ominous headline “PRESIDENT TRUMP IS RESHAPING THE MEDIA.” Never mind that that is NOT his job. In fact, it is an overt breach of the Constitution’s First Amendment protection of the free press. But dishonoring the principles that underpin American democracy has never bothered Trump before.

Trump posts a horrifying graphic that celebrates his fantasy of having total fascist control of the media.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2026-03-14T19:44:57.092Z

The graphic that Trump posted is a list of what he thinks are his contributions to reforming the media. However, almost nothing that he includes in his list is actually a reform. More accurately they would be described as improper, and perhaps illegal, interference. And worse, they exemplify Trump’s compulsion to replace free speech with autocratic repression and the state-sponsored censorship of fascists.

For instance, of the 12 items that he celebrates are “GONE,” seven of them are simply observances that some journalists who he dislikes are no longer working for a particular network. Although they are all still working. Of special note is the extremely darkened photo Trump used for Black journalist Joy Reid. The other five items in his list express his thrill that some of the media – and hence the public’s right to know – has been hampered by funding cuts, layoffs, and ratings declines. None of those things, however, are what anyone would call reforms.

Trump’s graphic goes on to list what he thinks are reforms. They include bragging about his interviews, lying about the success of his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, and celebrating having won settlements (aka bribes) from cowardly media corporations. Once again – not reforms.

The only things that be called reforms are two items wherein Trump praises the work of his FCC boss, Brendan Carr, who is faithfully running the agency like a good cult minion who is devoted to helping Trump assume tyrannical control of the media. Carr coincidentally (?) tweeted the same morning that…

“Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions – also known as the fake news – have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not. […] When a political candidate is able to win a landslide election victory after in the face of hoaxes and distortions, there is something very wrong.”

So Carr is openly threatening the broadcast licenses of news networks if they fail to unflinchingly support the Trump regime. Somebody needs to tell him that broadcast networks are not licensed by the federal government, so there aren’t any licenses for him to deny. Although local broadcasters are licensed. But is he going to start rejecting license renewals for over 200 local affiliates? Each of whom would challenge his efforts as unconstitutional.

What’s more, Carr destroys his own argument by noting that Trump won (although not nearly by a landslide, only by 1.5%) despite what he says were “hoaxes and distortions.” So he’s arguing that the media doesn’t have the power to influence election outcomes. Which contradicts his complaint. That, however, doesn’t deter Trump from persisting in his campaign of perpetual whining and his aspirations of dictatorship. Although, he seems to agree that the public can make up their own minds regardless of what the media says…

Crybaby-in-Chief Donald Trump is again whining about news coverage, calling the NY Times and Wall Street Journal "Lowlife Papers" that want America to lose the war in Iran. He says they are "sick and demented people."But he's right that the American people "understand what is happening."

Trump’s Secretary of Wars, Pete Hegseth, Openly Yearns For Government Control of the Media

Nearly two weeks ago, Donald Trump launched a wholly unprovoked, illegal war against Iran that many experts have concluded was his attempt to juice his historically slumping approval ratings, or as a favor to his foreign friends (e.g. Israel, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc.), and/or to deflect attention from his unsavory relationship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his obstruction of the release of the Epstein files.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Pete Hegseth with Drunk Emoji

Nevertheless, the war against Iran, that Trump says he has already won and can end any time wants (but doesn’t want to), continues to rage on, producing more tragic injuries and deaths of American soldiers, and hundreds more of Iranian civilians. But not to worry. Trump’s Secretary of “Wars,” Pete Hegseth, is laser focused on the “excursion” (as Trump calls it), and is managing the conflict exactly as you might expect a former Fox New host to do…

SEE THIS: Pete Hegseth, Trump’s Secretary of ‘Wah’ is a Crybaby Who Bans ‘Unflattering’ Photos of Himself

On Friday Hegseth held another press conference to lie about the progress of the war. In each of his prior media avails, Hegseth has spent more time lambasting the media than providing any honest information about the what’s going on in Iran. This time was no different as Hegseth sought to portray any bad news as “fake,” while assuming the facade of a macho war gamer in his mom’s basement (video below). For instance…

“We will keep pushing, keep advancing, no quarter, no mercy for our enemies. Yet some in this crew, in the press, just can’t stop. Allow me to make a few suggestions. People look up at the TV and they see banners, they see headlines. I used to be in that business. And I know that everything is written intentionally.”

For the record, according to international humanitarian law, orders to give “no quarter, no mercy,” are regarded as war crimes. And Hegseth’s bragging that he used to be in the media business only affirms his experience with, and devotion to, surface level appearances. He went on to say that…

“More fake news from CNN: ‘Reports that the Trump administration underestimated the Iran war’s impact on the Strait of Hormuz.’ Patently ridiculous, of course. For decades, Iran has threatened shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. This is always what they do. Hold the Strait hostage. CNN doesn’t think we thought of that. It’s a fundamentally unserious report. The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better.’

If the Trump regime did anticipate that Iran would block the Strait, then why didn’t they do anything about it in advance to mitigate its impact? Did they just decide to let Iran shut down oil traffic in the Strait, roiling energy markets and raising gas prices? Because that’s what it seems like based on another comment by Hegseth, who said that “The only thing prohibiting transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping.” Really? What an enlightening update. Thanks Captain Obvious.

Hegseth then added that the Strait would be “open for transit if Iran didn’t do that.” That’s true. But it’s like saying that Mar-a-Lago would be open for pedophiles if Trump…Oh wait. It already is!

Even worse was Hegseth’s view that “The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better.” He is flagrantly advocating the sort of fascist takeover of the media that is practiced in authoritarian regimes like Russia, China, and North Korea. And he is admitting that the acquisition of CNN by David and Larry Ellison would achieve the right-wing bias that critics of the merger have warned about.

Hegseth’s official DoD Twitter account was apparently proud of his remarks about Iran and the media. It posted a tweet saying that “SECWAR JUST LIT UP THE FAKE NEWS:” Perhaps in their own imaginations. More realistically, Hegseth just provided more proof of his dishonesty and disrespect for the First Amendment.

What’s more, Hegseth was saying all of this in a press room where he has previously banned most of the media that isn’t already MAGA-friendly. Among the “reporters” in the room were those from Trump-fluffing networks such as Lindell TV, One America News, and Real America News. So it’s no wonder that there wasn’t any serious pushback or follow ups.

Trump Says He Knows Where Iranian Sleeper Cells Are in the U.S. But He Isn’t Going After Them?

In case anyone is wondering, the war against Iran is going great, according to Donald Trump. That’s right. Field Marshal “Bone Spurs” Trump says that it has already been won, even though it is just beginning. And the Iranian nuclear facilities that he obliterated last summer have somehow been obliterated again.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump

One thing that can be relied upon with regard to anything that Trump says is that it will be fervently positive about whatever he has done. It will also likely be a flagrant lie. And we can expect Fox News to back it up no matter how preposterous.

SEE THIS: Fox News Has Already Declared Victory in Iran, While Trump is Threatening ‘Complete Destruction’

There has been much speculation of how Iran might retaliate against the United States for its unprovoked and illegal attack. Iran has already been firing missiles at U.S. bases in nearby countries. And they have effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, where about 20% of the world’s oil shipments pass through. More than 140 American soldiers have been hospitalized, and eight have been killed. But Trump sees no problems with any of that.

True to form, Trump is now bragging about his management of national security here at home while his war is raging in the Middle East. On Thursday he was asked a question by Peter Doocy of Fox News about the risks faced by Americans domestically. His answer was pure Trumpian bullpucky (video below)…

Doocy: If Iran tries to hit us back, have you been briefed about how many Iran sleeper cells there could be inside the US right now?
Trump: I have been, and a lot of people came in through Biden with his stupid open border. But we know where most of them are. We’ve got our eye on all of them. I think.
Doocy: Is it dozens?
Trump: They came in through the open border policies of “sleepy” Joe Biden. One of the worst – the worst president in the history of our country. And we’ve got our eyes on all of them. But the war itself is being prosecuted at a level that nobody’s seen before. It’s pretty amazing to watch.

Well, that’s comforting, isn’t it? Trump knows all about the Iranian sleeper cells in the U.S. And he’s got his eyes on them. All of them. He “thinks” (???) Although he ignores the question about how many there are. Instead, he shifts to blaming and insulting President Biden. Never mind that Biden has been out of office for nearly a year and a half, so Trump is wholly responsible for whatever the situation is today. And to Trump, the former reality TV game show host, that situation is “pretty amazing to watch.” It’ll get great ratings.

However, there is something critical that Trump is missing. If he knows where all of these terrorist Iranian sleeper cells are, why hasn’t he arrested and deported them? Why aren’t ICE agents swarming their hideouts? Trump sure hasn’t been shy about arresting, deporting, and even killing American citizens for exercising their constitutional rights to protest. But he’s letting Iranian terrorists remain to plot against the American people?

If Trump actually has any information about these alleged sleeper cells, he should act on it immediately, or give the information to state authorities who will. Why would he delay? It would be too horrific to speculate that Trump might want to see a domestic terrorist attack, in order to give him an excuse to interfere with the upcoming elections, or to declare martial law and commit even more grievous violations of the Constitution.

As it is, Trump commits so many atrocities, so frequently, that it’s difficult to keep up with them. Consequently, he often gets away with behavior like this that puts the lives of millions at risk. He is so blatantly and dangerously incompetent that it boggles the mind to consider that he even has a small contingent of cult followers who can still stomach his antics. But then, that’s the nature of a cult.

HOLY CRAPOLI! Trump says that there are sleeper cells in the U.S. of Iranian terrorists who entered the country illegally because of "sleepy Joe."And he knows where they are? But he's not arresting or deporting them? But he is arresting, deporting, and even killing American citizens?

Pete Hegseth, Trump’s Secretary of ‘Wah’ is a Crybaby Who Bans ‘Unflattering’ Photos of Himself

Ten days into the war that Donald Trump launched against Iran to destroy their nuclear capabilities (that he obliterated a few months ago), or to effect regime change (to a younger Ayatollah Khamenei), or to free up the oil market (that is now more constrained, raising gas prices to the highest levels in five years), the “stable genius” occupying the White House now says that the war is both over and just beginning.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump baby and Pete Hegseth

Trump’s utterly unjustified and illegal war is going great, according to Trump. Never mind that more than 140 American soldiers suffered serious injuries, including eight fatalities. And just ignore that it’s costing American taxpayers nearly a billion dollars a day. In Trump’s mind it’s a complete success because…well, just because he says so. And his boss in Moscow surely agrees.

SEE THIS: The Trump Regime Takes Putin at His Word About Russia Aiding Iran but Wanting to Help the U.S.

Of course, the Trump regime’s war machine is fully engaged in the war effort. That means that his Secretary of “War,” Pete Hegseth, is focused squarely on the mission to achieve whatever the heck Trump’s goals are. Even though he has failed to coherently explain what they are.

For his part, Hegseth is advancing the military’s position of always putting first the most shallow objective of enhancing the PR of the Pentagon and its boss, Pete Hegseth. For instance, it was reported Wednesday that Hegseth has taken bold measures to insure that he continues to look good in the media…

The Defense Department has barred press photographers from briefings on the Iran war after they published photos of Pete Hegseth that his staff deemed "unflattering," according to two people familiar with the decision who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation.

Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1.bsky.social) 2026-03-11T15:45:18.439Z

That’s right. “Snowflake Pete” has put the kibosh on “unflattering” pictures of the Secretary of “Wah.” This is a move that ought to have been expected, coming from the former co-host of a weekend Fox News morning program. And it isn’t the first time that Hegseth has banished unfriendly media on the basis of appearances…

Trump’s Secretary of War on the Press, Pete Hegseth, Is Rebuked By the Media He’s Trying to Censor
“Hegseth proved his fealty to Trump last month when he issued a decree demanding that the press must swear a Trumpian loyalty oath before being allowed access to the Pentagon or to military leaders who work for the American people. […] The mandate that Hegseth imposed on the press forbids them to do any investigative reporting, interviewing, or to publish any stories that haven’t been pre-approved by Hegseth’s Pentagon overlords.

“Under this decree, reporters would be required to have an approved Pentagon escort when in the building. And should they refuse to sign the oath, they risk losing their press credentials.”

And who could forget Hegseth’s orders to build a makeup studio in the Pentagon, so that he could always look his best when doing cable news hits for MAGA friendly media…

Pete Hegseth Spends Thousands for a Pentagon Makeup Studio to Fortify America’s Military Might
“[Hegseth] has spent thousands of dollars to build a makeup studio in the Pentagon. Apparently, our soldiers also have to look good in battlefield photos. Or more likely, when Hegseth and other officers are making appearances on Fox News.”

More recently, Hegseth let it be known that he wouldn’t tolerate any news reporting of American casualties of war, because their having had the audacity to die on duty made Trump look bad…

Pete Hegseth Callously Dismisses American Fatalities as the Press ‘Wanting to Make Trump Look Bad’
“This is what the fake news misses. We’ve taken control of Iran’s airspace and waterways without boots on the ground. We control their fate. But when a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it’s front page news. I get it, the press only wants to make the president look bad. But try for once to report the reality. The terms of this war will be set by us at every step.”

Is this what Hegseth means when he talks about restoring a “warrior ethos” to the military? Because it seems more like he’s restoring the “red carpet” essence of the entertainment industry from whence he came. It surely isn’t helping either the image or the abilities of troops. But it soothes the massive but fragile egos of Hegseth and Trump. Who were both television hosts before going into politics.

The Trump Regime Takes Putin at His Word About Russia Aiding Iran but Wanting to Help the U.S.

For ten years Donald Trump has been whining about what he calls the “Russia, Russia, Russia hoax.” But like everything else that he calls a hoax, it is based on documented facts. Trump has had unsavory connections to Russian officials and proxies for as long as he has been in politics, and even before with his real estate ventures.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Now as Trump is engaged in his unprovoked and unnecessary war against Iran, he is affirming all of the worst implications of his disturbing adoration of Vladimir Putin and his envy of the dictator’s authoritarian powers. And in his diminished mental state, Trump is conflating his lies about Iran with his lies about Russia and their interference in the U.S. elections.

SEE THIS: Trump Just Posted the Real Reason that He Started a War with Iran, and It’s Truly Insane

During a press conference on Tuesday morning, Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, was asked a question by ABC News reporter, Karen Travers, about a recent phone call that Trump had with his boss, Vladimir Putin. Travers sought to get some clarification on Trump’s assertion that Putin promised to help the U.S. with Iran, which Putin promptly contradicted…

Travers: The president said yesterday that Putin told him he wanted to helpful in the Middle East. The Kremlin put out a statement where Putin said, quote, “I would like to reaffirm our unwavering support for Tehran and our solidarity with Iranian friends.” How does the president think that Russia could be helpful if not helping Iran? And did the president push Putin on Russia sharing intelligence with Iran in this war?
Leavitt: The President and Special Envoy Witkoff, have both said that they’ve sent a message to Russia that if that was taking place, it’s not something they would be happy with and they hope that it is not taking place.

Notice that Leavitt totally ignored the part of the question regarding Trump’s claim that Putin would be helpful to the U.S. And her response to the credible reports that Russia is giving intelligence to Iran to help them target American assets and troops was hardly comforting. To the contrary, it couldn’t be a weaker expression submissiveness to Putin by saying merely that Trump would not be happy about it. That’s telling him!

Confirming Trump’s mushy stance on these matters, his “Special” envoy to Russia, Steve Witkoff, told CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla that the Trump regime was satisfied with whatever Putin said…

Quintanilla: Do we think the Russians have shared intelligence about US military assets, and if they have, why would we be giving waivers on oil sanctions?
Witkoff: Well, I’m not an intel officer, so I can’t tell you. I can tell you that yesterday on the call with the president the Russians said they have not been sharing. That’s what they said. We can take them at their word.

QUINTANILLA: Do we think the Russians have shared intel about US military assets, and if so, why would we be giving waivers on oil sanctions?WITKOFF: I can tell you that on the call with POTUS, the Russians said they have not been sharing. That's what they said. We can take them at their word.

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2026-03-10T16:08:53.733Z

Once again, the part of the question regarding Trump giving waivers to Russia on oil sanctions was ignored. But Witkoff proudly proclaimed his blind faith in Putin, whose word is apparently golden to Trump and his team.

None of this should be surprising to anyone who has been paying attention to Trump, his staff, and his glassy-eyed disciples. The cult factor is clearly in play here. And Witkoff is a good example of a zealous devotee. During the CNBC interview he was also asked what he would say to “Americans who are struggling with making ends meet and don’t want foreign wars.” He replied…

"…think about what this world would look like if you didn't have Donald Trump as the president."OKAY…

Stephen Colbert Delivers a Hilarious Acceptance/Farewell Speech at Writers Guild Award Ceremony

The 78th Annual Writers Guild of America’s annual awards ceremony was held Sunday night in New York City. Among the recipients was Stephen Colbert, whose CBS “Late Night” program was recently canceled amid a controversial ownership shake up that put the network into the hands of Trump-friendly billionaires, David and Larry Ellison. Its final episode will air on May 21, 2026.

Stephen Colbert & Trump Baby

Colbert was honored with the prestigious and rarely presented “Walter Bernstein Award” that is presented to a Guild member who has “demonstrated with creativity, grace and bravery a willingness to confront social injustice in the face of adversity.” There is no one who better exemplifies those principles than Colbert. Particularly at this point in his career. Although the punishment meted out by his corporate bosses might have backfired on them…

SEE THIS: NICE WORK CBS! Banning the Stephen Colbert Interview with James Talarico, Got Them Way More Views

Robert Smigel (Saturday Night Live, Conan O’Brien, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, etc.) gave Colbert a lengthy and entertaining, anecdote-laden introduction, reminding the audience of Colbert’s work on many programs, including The Dana Carvey Show, Strangers With Candy, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. Then he brought Colbert to the podium for his acceptance speech, who led off with a bit of the back story on the award’s namesake. (Colbert begins at about 14:00)

“Thank you for the honor of the Walter Bernstein award. Bernstein was a brilliant writer and, as you know, was Blacklisted. I did a little research, and as I did research I discovered – I don’t know why I didn’t know this – it dawned on me that the Blacklist was not a government policy. The Blacklist wasn’t a law or a regulation or an executive order. It was a voluntary industry-wide agreement to deny work to left-leaning artists out of fear that certain members of the government might publicly attack the parent corporation of these artists for the union that they belong to. It was that threat, only the threat, of trouble, that ended so many careers.”

Colbert was quick to note that he didn’t believe that he had been subject to anything on the level of the 1950.s Blacklisting. Adding that “As far as I can tell, no one in late night is fomenting a revolution.” Then delivering the best line of the night…

“As we know, the revolution will not be televised. It was going to be televised, but then Paramount bought it. Evidently, the revolution was losing, like, $40 million a year. It had to go. I guess the revolution is thinking about starting a Substack.”

Colbert spent a good portion of his speech praising his writing staff, and even pitching for them to be hired after his show ends. He named them all with short personal “tributes” punctuated with fun facts about each one. He also went through a number of jokes that didn’t make it to the air. They included jabs at the Dobbs decision to repeal abortion rights, Kristi Noem’s alleged affair with aide Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s incestuous comments toward his daughter Ivanka, Melania meeting the Pope, and a profane reference to a McDonalds tag line.

All in all, it was an entertaining night of humor and history and a well deserved tribute to a comedy legend. Consequently, we can expect a full blown meltdown by Donald Trump whose aversion to comedy in general, and hatred for Colbert in particular, is well known…

Trump is having a bad night, so he's up rage-posting about TV comedians. He wants Stephen Colbert to be "put to sleep." And he thinks that networks have broadcast licenses (they don't) that should be "terminated."Poor baby isn't getting enough sleep at his Cabinet meetings.

Judge Rules that Trump Toady Kari Lake’s Appointment Was Illegal and Voids All of Her Actions

If there is one thing for which Donald Trump has distinguished himself, it’s that he is indisputably the most media averse president in American history. And now the Trump regime’s Censorship Czar, Kari lake, has been repudiated in court (again) for her efforts to muzzle Voice of America (VOA), an essential distributor of American news to countries that stifle independent reporting such as Iran, where Trump is currently engaged in an unprovoked war.

Donald Trump and Kari Lake

Trump recruited Lake to run VOA’s parent, the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), after she was firmly rejected by Arizonans for both governor and senator. While Trump’s FCC boss, Brendan Carr, is strangling the free press domestically, Lake is the foreign flank of Trump’s media gagging team. Impressed with her election denying prowess, Trump found her a position from which she could spew propaganda worldwide. Among her first official acts was to fire hundreds of experienced and dedicated VOA journalists and replace them with One America News, an ultra-MAGA, Trump-fluffing network.

Fortunately, the attempts by Trump and Lake to stifle freedom of the press have themselves been stifled by the courts. In a new ruling Lake was forcefully rebuked by the judge in a case challenging her appointment to her USAGM post. On Saturday Reuters published an article with the headline “US judge voids 2025 actions taken by Kari Lake as Voice of America CEO, including job cuts.”

“A federal judge ruled on Saturday that Kari Lake’s leadership of the U.S. Agency for Global Media for much of last year violated federal law, invalidating a sweeping series of actions she took to cut staff and end many operations at its Voice of America unit.

“In another blow to the Trump administration’s attempts to diminish various government agencies, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth granted a summary judgment in favor of plaintiffs — including VOA journalists and a union representing federal employees — who argued that Lake’s appointment as acting CEO and actions she took in that role ran afoul of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act and the Constitution’s Appointments Clause.”

“Lamberth ruled that Lake was ineligible to serve as acting CEO because she was not employed by USAGM when former CEO Amanda Bennett resigned in January 2025, and had not been confirmed by the Senate to any other federal post.”

Lake quickly put out a statement saying that she would appeal the ruling by the judge who she said “has a pattern of activist rulings.” True to form, Lake is lying and smearing the judge’s reputation. But Lake is going to have a hard time painting Lamberth as a radical lefty jurist. To the contrary, he was nominated to the bench by Ronald Reagan in 1987.

In addition to the Voice of America, the USAGM oversees international broadcasting networks such as Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, Radio Television Martí, and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks. Their programming is heard around the world in an effort to peacefully extend U.S. influence and combat authoritarianism. No wonder Trump hates it. Anything that would interfere with his own aspirations of authoritarianism triggers his wrath.

At this particular moment in time, the value of these networks cannot be overstated. Trump is currently engaged in a war with Iran, where the Middle East Broadcasting Networks aired prior to his dismantling them. And Trump is also threatening to invade Cuba, the province of Radio Television Martí. So he is severing vital channels of communications with the citizens of those countries when it is needed most.

Hopefully the appeals courts will uphold these recent rulings that invalidate the efforts of Lake and Trump to decimate America’s international messaging capabilities. The last thing America needs now is to follow in the footsteps of Trump’s tyrannical idols and mentors, such as Vladimir Putin, Viktor Orbán, and Kim Jong Un.

Fox News Has Already Declared Victory in Iran, While Trump is Threatening ‘Complete Destruction’

When George W. Bush plastered a “Mission Accomplished” banner onto the upper deck of an aircraft carrier in 2003, it actually heralded the continuation of a brutal war with Iraq that went on for another twenty years and cost the lives of thousands of American troops and Iraqi civilians.

Donald Trump appears to be intent on reprising that painful episode of American history. His war against Iran began a week ago, but he is already bragging about how savagely lethal his unprovoked, illegal, and broadly unpopular war mongering has been. Sadly, much of the lethality has been suffered by Iranian civilians, including dozens of elementary school children. Which is typical of the insensitivity of the Trump regime to the casualties of war, including American soldiers.

SEE THIS: Pete Hegseth Callously Dismisses American Fatalities as the Press ‘Wanting to Make Trump Look Bad’

So naturally Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is ready to justify everything Trump does, no matter how horrible the consequences. On Saturday morning the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends were discussing the Iran fiasco when co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy (wife of Trump’s Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy) made an astonishing announcement. She delivered the glassy-eyed Fox viewers some partisan PR saying…

“Lets think about what has happened, lets list it out, So we took out the Iranian regime leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, and then 40 of the top leaders, We degraded their military […] We’ve kind of unified them [other Middle East states] behind us so that’s kind of worked in our favor to some degree. We’ve outed fake allies, Spain, England, right? Why should we ever help them again? […] So to me, this already looks like victory. And so, I say, lets declare victory very quickly,”

Glory hallelujah! It’s all over and everybody can go home. After all, “we took out” the Ayatollah, who is likely to be replaced by his even more radical son. And we did the dirty work of “degrading” Iran for the other regional countries who were already opposed to them. And we simultaneously alienated some of our closest and most enduring allies. So…Mission Accomplished?

It’s not clear whether Fox News consulted with Trump prior to initiating this celebration. Had they done so, they might have learned that he isn’t really on board. In fact, while the Fox Friends were gushing, Trump posted on Truth Social that he was still deeply involved in his battle against “Iran, which is being beat to HELL.” He elaborated saying that “Today Iran will be hit very hard! Under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death.” Which doesn’t sound much like a declaration of victory.

What’s more, Trump posted a another comment saying that “We have a virtually unlimited supply of…Munitions…however, we have also increased Orders.” So he’s increasing our supply of munitions from unlimited to…ultra unlimited? Never mind that Trump and the GOP say we can’t afford healthcare, or education, or housing, or any initiatives that might lower the cost of living for Americans here at home.

Meanwhile, Trump also took time to clarify why he is really so obsessed with his military misadventures around the world. During an event marking the launch of his cartoon-inspired “Shield of the Americas,” he inadvertently let it slip that the only things he cares about are money and oil…

Trump says that "Cuba is at the end of line. They have no money. They have no oil." He's admitting that his foreign misadventures ( Venezuela, Iran) are all about money and oil.So it makes sense that he's enriching himself by holding this summit at his Trump National Doral Miami golf resort.

Knowing that, we now have the criteria for determining when his mission is actually accomplished. Although most people who have been paying attention already know. And it has nothing to do with Iran…

CORRECTION: Trump's Department of War spelled "Epstein" wrong. This is the real reason that Trump started a war with Iran. Also, he needed to justify renaming the Department of Defense.

UPDATE: Now Trump also says that we have already won the war. In a post on Truth Social he claims that he rejected help from British Prime Minister Starmer saying that “We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!”
