Uncaring Ignorance About Jobs and Medicaid is a Sickening Requirement to Be in Trump’s Cabinet

The lasting legacy of Donald Trump is going to be filled with examples of his craving to reign as an anti-democratic autocrat, and his insatiable thirst for enriching himself with sleazy scams. He will be forever remembered as the Grifter-in-Chief who sought the worshipful adoration of his small but noisy cabal of cult followers.

Donald Trump

In addition to his acute case of malignant narcissism, Trump will also go down in history as the American “leader” who cherished the deliberate avoidance of intellect, declaring literally that he “loves the poorly educated.” Of course he does. Who else would vote for him? His tenure is a testament to infantile turpitude and the deranged, devolutionary dumbing down of academics in pursuit of a submissive society.

In a timely demonstration of Trump’s aversion to education, his Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins held a press conference to provide affirmation of Trump’s descent into Idiocracy. Responding to inquiries about how the United States will handle the consequences of Trump’s mass deportation agenda, and his “Big Ugly Bill” that slashes the budget for Medicaid, Rollins said that…

“There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way. And we move the workforce toward automation and 100% American participation, which with 34 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid we should be able to do fairly quickly.”

Brooke Rollins on farm laborers: "There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way. And we move the workforce toward automation and 100% American participation, which with 34 million able-bodied on Medicaid we should be able to do fairly quickly."

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-07-08T14:06:46.629Z

There’s a lot of witlessness to unpack in that brief commentary. Let’s begin with Rollins’ reference to continuing mass deportations in a “strategic way.” By which she means enforcing it only in Democratic cities and states. She then moved on to her intention to replace farm laborers with automation. Although she doesn’t explain how she would automate the harvesting of agricultural crops, or why it has never been done before. Neither does she explain how the labor force would be “100% American” in this new type of harvesting that is done by machines.

Perhaps the most preposterous part of Rollins’ remarks was what she had to say about Medicaid. She believes that there are “34 million able-bodied adults” who can be immediately recruited to staff the farms of the nation. She is referring to the number of people currently on Medicaid who are classified as “able-bodied.”

What Rollins doesn’t seen to understand is that many able-bodied people receive Medicaid who are not available to work. According to an analysis by the Brookings Institute, Medicaid recipients who would be described as “able-bodied” are mostly those who are caregivers to dependent children, those with disabling mental health conditions, full time students, and those already working 80+ hours per month.

Disenrolling those recipients from Medicaid would result in severe hardships for them and their families, and would save very little money. Does the Trump administration really want the parents of minor children, and those who are caregivers to seniors or other disabled family members, and those with mental health disabilities, to be forced to relocate to farming communities and harvest fruits and vegetables?

Furthermore, the agricultural work that Rollins thinks will be undertaken by those she would strip of Medicaid coverage generally does not provide health insurance to their employees. Consequently, any medical treatment required would not be be paid for, resulting in people not getting necessary care. It would also result in the hospitals providing such care incurring costs that they could not bear and would subsequently shut down, denying care to everyone else that used their services.

The bottom line is that Rollins and Trump are advocating an inhumane policy that would cause profound harm, while saving very little federal funds. The people that the Trump regime is targeting are not freeloaders trying to sponge of the government. They are not slackers playing video games in their mom’s basement. They are honest Americans struggling to make ends meet and to keep themselves and their families healthy.

For some reason, the Trump Republicans are offended by the lesser advantaged of us and thinks that they should be punished and made to suffer more, in order to afford tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy. Very Christian of them, isn’t it?

Trump’s Favorite Fox News Flunky Affirms that the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Has Steep Medicaid Cuts

On May 22, 2025, the House of Representatives passed – by a single vote – what Trump preposterously named the “Big Beautiful Bill:” a budget hodge-podge of ultra-rightist economic reforms that advance the conservative agenda of enriching the already wealthy, at the expense of working class Americans, while exploding the national debt.

Fox News, Maria Bartiromo, Donald Trump

Ever since then Republicans have been desperately trying to convince, aka deceive, the American people that this upper-crusty sham would benefit them, despite the repudiation by virtually every independent analysis. That includes the Congressional Budget Office – which is headed by a republican – and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, who confirmed that it would throw millions of people off of their Medicaid plans. Which didn’t stop Trump from lying about it…

SEE THIS: Trump Celebrates the House Passing His ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ in the Most Trumpian Way – By Lying

After the full-court press by Trump and Company to plant the lie that the bill wouldn’t impact Medicaid or its users, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda has stumbled off the path of MAGA righteousness by actually admitting that it does impact them, in a big way. And this diversion was done by none other than the Fox News Senior Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, who while interviewing a GOP congressman said that…

“Let me move on to the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ and the the Senate Finance Committee unveiling the text of President Trump’s bill yesterday. It includes major tax reforms and even steeper Medicaid cuts than the House called for.”

UH-OH! Senior Fox News Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, says that the Senate version of the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" contains "even steeper Medicaid cuts."But Trump and the GOP have been denying that there are ANY Medicaid cuts. Will he send her to El Salvador now?

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-06-17T17:00:17.915Z

UH-OH! Bartiromo is undoing weeks of determined bullshittery by the GOP to beguile the gullible into believing that the bill would be their economic salvation. They have been denying that there are any Medicaid cuts at all in the bill, much less cuts that exceed those that they said didn’t exist in the first place. This could could portend dark days for Bartiromo. Perhaps even a seat on the Deportation Express to El Salvador.

Furthermore, this could not have come at a worse time for the Trump regime. The latest polls show that the “Big Beautiful Bullsh*t” is broadly opposed by the vast majority of the American people. As CNN reports, polls by the Kaiser Family foundation and Quinnipiac University reveal that the bill is underwater by 29 and 26 points respectively…

“The amount of disapproval for this bill — holy cow, my goodness gracious! We’re talking about 29 points underwater on the net favorable rating…We’re talking about a negative 41 net favorability rating among independents in the center of the electorate. You rarely ever see proposed pieces of legislation as unpopular as this.”

Can Trump and the GOP still call this the "Big Beautiful Bill" when the vast majority of the American people hate it? They know that it hurts them, helps only the wealthy, and adds trillions more debt. And this is after weeks of the Trump regime spewing propaganda to prop it up.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-06-17T16:53:58.651Z

The Senate is still putting together their version of the bill. It is already set to make significant changes from the House version. Which means that if something passes in the Senate, which remains in doubt, it will still have to be passed again in the House, where it only squeaked through the first time.

Given that this bill is now better known, and more disliked, by a broader cross-section of the population, it’s passage may an uphill climb for Republicans. Particularly after Trump’s humiliating birthday parade which will only sink his already abysmal approval ratings even farther down the rabid hole.

James O’Keefe Drops Another Dud, Smears Medicaid

James O'Keefe, BoratThe Borat of right-wing, pseudo-journalism, James O’Keefe, has released a new video that purports to expose rampant fraud within the Medicaid system.

As with any video from O’Keefe’s dishonest propaganda mill, the first reaction should be abundant skepticism. After all, this is the same guy who…

  • Deceptively edited videos of ACORN reps to make them look bad, even when in reality they had reported him to the police.
  • Tried and failed to lure CNN reporter Abbie Boudreau onto his love boat for some still unexplained reason.
  • Misrepresented NPR officials so badly on video that Glenn Beck’s web site debunked and denounced him.
  • Was arrested for entering the office of a U.S. Senator under false pretenses, presumably to tamper with the phone lines.

O’Keefe is an incorrigible liar whose antics have earned him the distrust of any reputable media enterprise. His video adventures should be regarded as fiction and dismissed out of hand.

This latest effort starred a couple of self-identified wealthy Russian drug dealers seeking assistance from Medicaid (Why would wealthy drug dealers need federal aid?). This piece has all the earmarks of O’Keefe’s prior fraudulent work. There is plenty of opportunity for him to have mangled the video to make the context unrecognizable from what actually took place. The audio could easily have been altered to make it appear as if the targets were responding to comments that were never made in their presence. There is no reference point from which to determine whether any of his targets had repelled the phony instigators. Surely any laudable behavior would have already been edited out by O’Keefe. This is textbook manipulation as practiced by O’Keefe in the past.

However, the worst part of this supposedly shocking expose is that there is nothing remotely shocking about it. First of all, O’Keefe failed to prove that any fraudulent activity had taken place. There were no applications for aid submitted or approved. Had it proceeded to that point the process would have required his agents to provide Social Security and other personal and financial information that would have prevented any such approval. And the Medicaid reps are probably trained not to challenge people who might be dangerous, such as Russian drug dealers. Consequently the reps were openly patronizing and repeatedly advised them to go someplace else.

Even if there were an opportunity to successfully commit some sort of fraud, it would have amounted to pittance that would hardly have an impact on the Medicaid budget. There is a larger question at play here. Is O’Keefe trying to make the point that there is fraud in the Medicaid system? Saints preserve us – that can’t be.

Nobody in or out of the Department of Health and Human Services would deny that fraud occurs and is a significant problem. That’s why the Department works strenuously to uncover and eliminate such fraud. They work closely with the Attorney General to prosecute lawbreakers. And their efforts bring results such as a bust earlier this year that snared 111 individuals who had been responsible for more than $225 million in false billings. The “Strike Force” set up to investigate these crimes has proven to be impressively successful.

Since their inception in March 2007, Strike Force operations in nine districts have charged more than 990 individuals who collectively have falsely billed the Medicaid program for more than $2.3 billion.

So what is O’Keefe’s team trying to prove? That they can swindle some low grade clerks into passing them off to other agencies while not actually committing any fraud? That they can save the government a few bucks while the government, without their help, is saving billions? If anything, O’Keefe and company are probably getting in the way.

That, in fact, may be their true intention. The only reason they engaged in this bit of childish play-acting is to disparage Medicaid and do harm to its mission of helping people get access to health care. O’Keefe would be satisfied if his deceitful operation were to put an end to Medicaid or cripple it by cutting its funding. Of course, Medicaid would not be the victim. It would be the millions of Americans who rely on it – the elderly, the poor, the young, the disabled. These are the people whose lives O’Keefe seeks to make ever more difficult. He must be so proud.
