WTF? Giuliani Says He’s Stashed ‘Evidence’ Against Hillary Clinton in His Bedroom for Years

Donald Trump’s legal troubles have lately been accumulating at a rapid pace. He is currently being investigated by authorities in New York, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. And just this week there were new revelations about his mishandling (i.e. shredding and flushing) of classified documents, and his longtime accounting firm disavowing him and his financial reporting for the past ten years.

Rudy Giuliani

So this would seem like a particularly problematic time for his lawyer to be shooting off his mouth with bizarre and potentially incriminating bluster. But that’s exactly what Rudy Giuliani is doing. Giuliani was interviewed Tuesday on Newsmax where he made some awkward news. [Note: He has been banned from Fox News. Both he and Fox are being sued for spreading Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen”]. The segment included a discussion about the recent court filing by special counsel John Durham that the Trump-fluffing conservative press has been flagrantly distorting (i.e. lying) as “proof” that Trump was spied on by Hillary Clinton:

“I don’t think Trump knew about it back then. I can’t tell you exactly how, but I know how he knew about it back then. There’s a lot more to come out. They may feel that it’s gobbledygook, but it’s gobbledygook supported by about a thousand pieces of evidence, none of which have been revealed yet. I happen to have it in my bedroom, or my den, actually. I’ve had it there for years. As well as the fraudulent elections. Both.”

Really? First of all, Giuliani’s account of what Trump knew and when is puzzling, to say the least. He didn’t know, but he knew, and Giuliani knew that he knew, but he can’t say how. Okay.

More importantly, Giuliani is confessing that he has been hoarding “a thousand pieces of evidence” (aka gobbledygook) that he claims would support the Durham Nothingburger. It’s a cornucopia of criminal discoveries that Giuliani has kept under his bed for years.

The obvious first question, that no one on Newsmax asked, ought to be “Why have you been keeping all of this secret for so long?” If Giuliani has the goods on Clinton, you would think that he would have made it all public long ago. The same goes for whatever election fraud evidence he is also claiming to have squirreled away. For some inexplicable reason he participated in sixty court cases trying to overturn the 2020 election, but never produced his bedroom files. [Not to be confused with his scene from Borat 2]

In the same Newsmax interview, Giuliani addressed his subpoena to testify before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. There have been reports recently suggesting that he agreed to “fully cooperate” with Committee. However, his remarks on Newsmax seem to contradict those reports:

“How can you have any confidence in this committee which, by the way, is illegal and doesn’t have a minority membership. I feel they can’t subpoena anybody? We’re watching it in retrospect and in real time. January 6th is nothing more than Russian collusion with another name and a new lie and a new set of crazy exaggerated, ‘It’s worse than September 11. It’s worse than Pearl Harbor. It’s worse than the Civil War. It’s worse than the end of the world!’ You can tell when they’re lying. They exaggerate.”

Giuliani gets a lot wrong in that brief outburst. Needless to say, the Committee is not illegal. And it does have minority members. Two of them: Liz Cheney, the Committee’s co-chair, and Adam Kinzinger. It would have more Republicans, but GOP leader Kevin McCarthy refused to appoint any. And finally, the Committee is fully authorized to issue subpoenas.

This Newsmax interview didn’t really do Giuliani – or Trump – any good. In fact, it made the need for his testimony even more critical. The Committee will surely be interested in the evidence he claims to have stashed away all these years. If he does end up cooperating, it will drive Trump into a frenzy. But if he refuses, he will find out for himself about congressional subpoenas and contempt of Congress.
