The determination of Donald Trump to foul the Earth with fossil fuel pollution on behalf of the oil and coal oligarchs who funnel donations (aka bribes) to him, has been a staple of his political agenda from his earliest days in politics. Even prior to that, Trump was opposed to environmental regulations that were imposed on his real estate properties.

Consequently, no one should be surprised by Trump’s latest efforts to give the toxic energy industry moguls their money’s worth. Never mind what it costs the inhabitants of the planet who will suffer more severe health consequences and natural disasters. Trump’s painfully stupid perspectives on the issue take precedence over science and compassion.

On Thursday Trump announced that he is ordering his administration to repeal the endangerment findings that have been a part of the nation’s environmental policies since 2009. As reported by PBS…
“The Trump administration on Thursday revoked a scientific finding that long has been the central basis for U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change, the most aggressive move by the president to roll back climate regulations. The rule finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency rescinds a 2009 government declaration known as the endangerment finding that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.”
The scientific community has affirmed that greenhouse gases are a primary cause of climate pattern disruptions that can exacerbate storms and extreme weather leading to increased destruction, injury, and fatalities. Likewise, it causes many health problems that lead to much higher rates of illness and death. But Trump couldn’t care less about any of that. It isn’t likely to impact him in the few years that he has remaining. So when he was asked about the impact on the American people, he replied just as you might expect someone with zero concern for anyone but himself…
Question: What do you tell Americans who are concerned that repealing the endangerment finding comes at a cost to public health and the environment based on science?
Trump: I tell them don’t worry about it. Because it has nothing to do with public health. This was all a scam. A giant scam. This was a ripoff of the country by Obama and Biden…They’ll have more money to spend for healthcare.

Oh. OK! Just don’t worry about it, you pansies. After all, it’s all a big scam. And naturally it’s the fault of Presidents Obama and Biden. Trump has previously claimed that it’s a scam by China. Anyway, you’ll have more money to spend on healthcare. Which, of course, is a lie. But humoring his alleged logic, he’s saying that when you or your family do contract serious illnesses, you’ll be able to pay at least part of your doctor bills. That should provide you with some comfort, doesn’t it?
Trump’s proposed repeal of the endangerment regulations will surely face some pushback by states in the courts. California Gove. Gavin Newsom has already made a strong statement in that regard…
“This decision betrays the American people and cements the Republican Party’s status as the pro-pollution party. If this reckless decision survives legal challenges, it will lead to more deadly wildfires, more extreme heat deaths, more climate-driven floods and droughts, and greater threats to communities nationwide — all while the EPA dismisses the overwhelming science that has protected public health for decades.”
“Donald Trump may put corporate greed ahead of communities and families, but California will not stand by — we will sue to challenge this illegal action, and we will continue fighting climate pollution here in our state. We will continue to lead because the lives and livelihoods of our people depend on it.”
Trump has a historically abysmal record of success in court on matters like these. And his arguments for this case are just as bad as those of the other cases he has lost in humiliating fashion. Let’s hope that his streak of failure continues. for the sake of of everyone that shares this planet.
