Rather than pretending to appoint people with at least a modicum of relevant experience, he has made certain this time to hire only the most slobbering sycophantic cronies who would shamelessly kiss his…let’s say ring, and shower him with fake trophies and awards.

That’s why Trump’s Cabinet and White House staff are now comprised solely of glassy-eyed cult followers who exalt Dear Leader as the Messiah of MAGA. They refrain from ever wavering even modestly from whatever ludicrous and/or dangerous initiative that he adopts. They praise him adoringly at staged meetings. Even with all of that up-sucking, he still winds up sleeping through it. And many of his cronies came directly from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

On Thursday morning Trump was compelled to post a celebratory comment on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social, expressing his delight that he got a unanimous vote approving his golden ballroom that he’s building as a tribute to his ego in the ruins of the White House East Wing that he illegally demolished. He gushed that…
“The Commission of Fine Arts just approved, unanimously, 6 to 0, with one recusal because he had a conflict in that he worked professionally on the job, the White House Ballroom. Great accolades were paid to the building’s beauty and scale. Thank you to the members of the Commission! President DJT”
What Trump doesn’t bother to mention is that the Commission is populated entirely by his own appointees. Back in October of 2025, Trump fired every member of the Commission to replace them with his own loyal minions. Is anyone surprised that they all voted to support his vanity project? for the record…
October 29, 2025: “The White House has fired six members of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, the independent federal agency that advises the president and Congress on design plans for monuments, memorials, coins and federal buildings. The seven member commission is made up of experts in architecture, art, urban and landscape design. Since its creation in 1910, the commission has reviewed plans for everything from Arlington National Cemetery to Maya Lin’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial.”
February 19, 2026: “The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, a panel made up of President Donald Trump’s appointees, on Thursday approved his proposal to build a ballroom larger than the White House itself where the East Wing once stood.” […] “The National Trust for Historic Preservation has sued in federal court to halt construction of the ballroom. A court decision in the case is pending.”
Trump’s behavior with regard to the Commission is consistent with his prior behavior to honor himself by renaming Washington institutions, such as the Institute for Peace and the Kennedy Center, after himself. He is also floating more such conceited rebranding, including Dulles International Airport and New York’s Penn Station. And he has already launched Trump Accounts, Trump Visas, and TrumpRX.
These are the extraordinarily vainglorious acts of a malignant narcissist. They make a totalitarian tyrant like North Korea’s Kim Jong Un blush. But to Trump it’s all in a day’s worship. Which explains why he also just hung a massive banner on the Justice Department building declaring that it is no longer an independent agency of law, but the personal firm of defense attorneys for Trump as he battles, among other things, charges of pedophilia emanating from the Epstein files.
