Proof That Media Matters Is Working

For an organization that does nothing more than document the words and images disseminated by the press, Media Matters has accumulated some of the most odious critics and criticisms. And they wear it as a badge of honor, and an affirmation of their efforts to expose the dishonesty of the right-wing media.

Who would have thought that just playing back their own words would push these conservative ranters so far over the edge? Despite their complaints, Media Matters is meticulous about providing the full context of the comments featured on the web site.

If the characters featured in the video below object so much to their remarks being recorded and replayed, maybe they shouldn’t say such stupid and repulsive things. As professional communicators, they can hardly argue that they were taken advantage of.

The problem they face is that, prior to Media Matters, they had the luxury of being able to lie, insult, and threaten, their perceived enemies without consequence. Now they are confronted with their own bestial behavior, and they don’t like it much. All that is left for them is to viciously, and without foundation, attack the folks who are merely keeping the records.

Watch and cringe – and donate to help them continue this important work.

[Update:] Media Matters is now reporting that Michael Savage has threatened to retaliate against them by posting personal information, including photos and addresses, and urging his listeners to ….. well, he doesn’t say exactly what.

  1. They still have not figured out that the “internets” is out there now.

  2. Absolutely. David Brock’s project is the most admirable demonstration of penance since John Dean began writing his mea culpas in book form.

  3. Great more lies from Newscorpse about the #1 News News network who spanks KO Butt EVERYNIGHT!

Keep telling people lies……its working so good….more people are watching Fox than EVER BEFORE……Fox should pay you and MM!

    • I’m happy to have Fox can keep winning in the ratings as long as they (Republicans) keep losing at the polls. Would you rather have the #1 cable news network, or the White House and the Congress?

And by the way, the first place program on the first place cable news network (O’Reilly) has about 1/3 the viewers of the last place news program on broadcast TV (CBS). Just thought I would put it in perspective for you. Fox is watched by about 1% of the American television audience. Enjoy your little rarefied world.

  4. You might want to check those ratings again…….Oh by the way Im a Democrat who voted and worked for Obama..and will again Ive voted for him 4 times as afterall …and ..who really likes Fox….so I get the WH…Congress and the #1 News Network!

If so few watch Fox News…why are there atleast 3 Fox hate sites that have to lie about Fox on the Net?

Oh and the best part…..Im part of a nielsen family so evrytime I watch Fox they get more popular.

Real Democrats dont have to lie to make a point!

    • Oh lord, what a laugh.

You really expect anyone to believe any of that nonsense? You’re a Democratic Obama supporter who believes Fox News’ version of reality: Obama is a Muslim Socialist who wasn’t born in the U.S.?

And if you were really a Nielsen family you would know that disclosing that to anyone would be a breach of contract.

And you talk about liars? Idiot.

  5. Think what you want…..Democrat do watch FOX….Its the #1 News Network for a reason for about 100 months…..has Msnbc ever been #1 for even 1 day?

I also have no reason to lie…..unlike News Corpse and MM…I dont vare if you trust me or not…..just stop telling lies about Fox and think you can fool everyone!

MM has been around for years and Fox is doing better than ever….how that means MM is working and not a complete failure……seem like a lie to me.

Now Its time to wrie down more Fox shows in my little Book.

  6. i love how “Richard” keeps making all these claims about how Mark is telling lies on his site, yet, is unable to specify any actual lies. he also cant seem to point out any lies by MMfa either. what a shock.

and then he goes on to do his little repetitive gloating about fox news ratings like the rest of his buddies because frankly, what else do fox news fans have to gloat about? certainly not using facts or being taken seriously.

and he actually has to audacity to claim that he is a democrat and watches fox news… are you enjoying all the lies and low blows they give the guy you used to work for and voted for? is that “fair and balanced” enough for you? by the way, i doubt an intelligent person like Barack Obama would want an illiterate buffon working for him. that would be an embarrassment for any true democrat.

and what do “fox hate sites” have to do with how many viewers they get? those sites exist because they call out fox news on its BS lies and propaganda tactics. it has nothing to do with fox news’ ratings.

and magically, you are part of the neilsen ratings family as well… what a coincidence. you are not a real democrat if you watch fox news and believe their lies. and if you had a single democrat or liberal bone in your body, you wouldnt stand for their smear jobs against democrats.

democrats do not watch fox news for legitimate reasons… for all you know, it might be as good of entertainment for democrats as colbert report and the daily show are. you are not the person to be used as an example here, either, especially since you dont show yourself to be an actual democrat. real democrats dont brag about fox news ratings like you are… conservatives do.

and once again, you bring up lies that NC and MMfA supposedly make, yet cant cite any. actually, MMfA has only been around for 5 years, whereas fox news has been around for 13 years, and they still go crazy when MMfA exposes their lies. fox is doing better than ever because they attract obama/liberal/democrat hating nuts who just want to see a network brown nose republicans all day and bash whoever disagrees with them.

    • Thanks for your support, but I think you gave him way more attention than he deserves. 😉
