WHAT’S NEXT? Trump Eyes More Conquests After His Dangerous and Deranged Venezuela Attack

Well… Who could have imagined that the “Peace President” who won a peace prize from a futball league, would launch a war to apprehend a foreign head of state? That’s what Donald Trump has done in order to “capture” Venezuela President Maduro on charges that he is also the leader of a “narco-terrorist” organization. Never mind that he has not bothered to present any evidence of the charges, nor get the constitutionally required consent from Congress for such a mission.

Undeterred by the law, the Constitution, or common sense and decency, Trump ordered an attack on Venezuela during which Maduro was taken into custody. Trump had been telegraphing such a move for weeks with his bombing of boats in the Caribbean. Although he threw a bit of a curve ball recently when he threatened to attack Iran…

Early Saturday morning Trump deployed American air forces to Venezuela on what appears to be a classic “wag the dog” mission designed to deflect from his abysmal approval polling, his failure to bring down the cost of living, particularly with regard to healthcare, and his unsavory relationship with child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. It was an ill-advised misadventure that is likely to result in enduring troubles for the nation and the world.

Nevertheless, Trump held a press conference later in the morning to explain the situation. But his attempts at explanations just raised more questions. And not only about his declining mental acuity. Although his delivery was notably lethargic as he read poorly from a prepared script.

However, what he said, not how he said it, was the real problem. during the course of the press avail Trump made some remarks that should chill the spines of every conscious American. When speaking specifically about the Venezuela affair, Trump said that…

“We are going to run [Venezuela] essentially until such time as a proper transition can take place.”

And that…

“We’re gonna make sure it’s run properly. We’re gonna rebuild the oil infrastructure which will cost billions of dollars.”

So Trump is explicitly promising to take control of the Venezuelan government for some unspecified period of time. What could possibly go wrong with that? [See Iraq and Afghanistan] And furthermore, he is admitting that it’s going to cost the American people “billions of dollars.” That’s the same American people who are already struggling to pay for housing, groceries, health insurance, and so much more.

Trump, however, was just getting started. In the same press conference he was asked about other countries in the region and how they will be impacted by his imperialistic hostilities against Venezuela. He replied that…

“The American dominance of the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again.”

And that…

“I think Cuba is gonna be something we’ll end up talking about, because Cuba is a failing nation. It’s very similar”

And that…

“[The president of Colombia] does have to watch his ass.”

And that…

“The cartels are running Mexico. She’s not running Mexico…Something is gonna have to be done with Mexico.”

So apparently Trump is lusting after taking over Cuba, Columbia, and Mexico too. Add to that his prior aspirations to invade and/or annex Panama and Canada, and you’ve got a proposed empire that rivals the former Soviet Union or Hitler’s Third Reich.

The remainder of Trump’s remarks rambled (weaved?) incoherently into unrelated matters such as his illegal invasions of U.S. cities and bragging about his inflationary tariffs. He remains grossly ignorant of the abhorrent precedent he is setting for other regimes to kidnap heads of state. For instance, China could use the same reasoning to nab the president of Taiwan. Or Russia could try to capture Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Or there is even the prospect of retaliation against Trump by Venezuelan operatives using Trump’s “logic.”

Trump’s argument that he is ridding the world of a drug trafficker is transparently false. If he actually cared about that, then why did he pardon Honduran President Hernandez, who was convicted in a U.S. court for the same sort of drug trafficking offenses that Trump is alleging about Maduro.

Yeah, Maduro is bad man. He is an authoritarian who seized power illegally. He oppresses his people. That said, if the United States cannot uphold its own laws and principles when dealing with such a man, then it has no moral foundation to judge others. But then Trump is an authoritarian who oppresses his people and has never had anything resembling a moral foundation.

That’s the real explanation for what Trump is doing in Venezuela and elsewhere around the world. And it doesn’t pose any problem for him or his cult followers that he is blatantly contradicting himself…

Trump Threatens to Start a War with Iran Because They’re Doing What He Wants to Do In the U.S.

In a late night 3:00 AM comment posted to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump issued a direct threat to Iran where citizens are currently protesting the extremist theological regime that has been in power there since the last time that the United States tried to interfere with their internal domestic affairs. More recently, Trump ordered a totally impotent assault on Iran in an attempt to neutralize its nuclear capabilities.

This morning Trump unleashed an online outburst aimed at Iran after he heard that they were shooting protesters. Because rage-posting on social media is how America announces its foreign policy in the Era of Trump. He seethed that…

“If Iran shots (sic) and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J.TRUMP”

So Trump is threatening ANOTHER war? He says he will commit U.S. military forces to "rescue" protesters in Iran.But he won't even provide weapons or other aid to Ukraine where his pall Putin is slaughtering thousands of civilians.Also, he wanted to shoot peaceful protesters in the U.S.

REALLY? Trump is threatening to start yet another war following his misadventures with Venezuela, Syria, Nigeria, and Yemen. Not to mention his threats to invade and/or annex Mexico, Panama, Canada, and Greenland. Or his deploying troops into American cities. And he fancies himself a candidate for a Nobel Peace prize?

Now Trump says he will commit U.S. military forces to “rescue” the protesters in Iran. He is feigning concern for those civilians who are the victims of the brutal regime. Which is peculiar because Vladimir Putin is doing much more harm to the civilians in Ukraine, but Trump has balked at providing them – a long time ally – with the weapons, intelligence, and other aid to help them to resist Trump’s pal Putin, who is slaughtering thousands of non-combatant men, women, and children, which is Russia’s custom.

To be clear, Trump isn’t promising to give financial support to the Iranian protesters, or training, or to help to organize a coalition of allies. Nope. Trump is promising to put American lives on the line. That’s what “locked and loaded and ready to go” means. So whose sons and daughters will be deployed to Iran? Certainly not Trump’s. As for Trump himself, he’s a five-time draft dodger.

What’s more, the offense by Iran that has Trump so riled up is that the Iranian leaders are allegedly shooting peaceful protesters. Which makes this a good time to remind everyone of what Trump did during his first occupation of the white House when he asked his military advisors why they couldn’t just “shoot the protesters” in a park across the street from the White House. This was disclosed by Trump’s own Defense Secretary, Mark Esper, to Norah O’Donnell on CBS News’ 60 Minutes…

O’Donnell: What specifically was he suggesting that the U.S. military should do to these protesters?
Esper: He says, “Can’t you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something.” And he’s suggesting that that’s what we should do, that we should bring in the troops and shoot the protesters.

So to summarize, Trump wants to deploy American troops into Iran to stop them from doing to protesters there what he wants to do to American protesters. And he couldn’t care less about what Putin is doing top civilians in Ukraine. Do we need any further evidence of the madness of Donald Trump?

Unfortunately, thanks to Donald Trump’s callous insensitivity to the welfare of others, the new year may not be so happy for all American families. He has spent the holidays in his familiar state of petulant outrage, posting dozens of hate-filled commentaries on everything from President Obama to George Clooney to anything else that triggers his tendentious temper tantrums. For example…

Consequently, it should come as no surprise that the Trump regime has chosen New Year’s Day to announce that it is halting all federal funding for child care services throughout the country. According to ABC News…

“The Trump administration is pausing child care funding to all states after allegations of fraud in daycare centers in Minnesota emerged, an official with the Department of Health and Human Services said.

“The official said the funds will be released ‘only when states prove they are being spent legitimately.’ The official did not provide details or more information about the proof the agency is requiring from states.” […]

“The federal actions came after an unverified online video from conservative influencer Nick Shirley alleging fraud in child care in Somali communities in Minneapolis. Minnesota officials had disputed the allegations.”

That’s right. The Trumpists are relying on video made by a MAGA Internet troll that alleges fraud committed by Somali-Americans in Minnesota. They have not verified the credibility of the charges in the video, and the MAGA cretin who produced it has no credibility of his own. But they are using it to justify holding back funding for every child care service in the country.

There are over 180,000 licensed child care centers and Family Child Care (FCC) homes in the United States. And now every one of them is going to have their funding withheld until they provide some unspecified proof of their legitimacy. Which, by the way, was already provided when they were licensed, and every six months thereafter.

In the meantime, parents will lose their child care providers. Which will not only harm them and their children, but it will hurt all of the businesses who could see their employees be absent because they have no place to care for their kids.

The video that started it all has never been validated by any reputable news source. To the contrary, it has been debunked every time it was examined. The CBS News affiliate in Minnesota did an exhaustive review that thoroughly debunked the video’s claims. Every one of the facilities that the video said was a fraud that had no kids in its care, was actually active and populated by kids when the CBS reporter made unannounced visits.

“CBS News conducted its own analysis of nearly a dozen day care centers mentioned by Shirley: all but two have active licenses, according to state records, and all active locations were visited by state regulators within the last six months.”

After the video Shirley posted on Twitter/X went viral, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in an X post that her department was conducting a “massive investigation on childcare and other rampant fraud.” Kash Patel at the FBI did the same thing. And they are both basing their massive and expensive and resource depleting investigations on a bullshit video. Because that’s how the Trump regime works.

All of this is made even worse by Trump himself, who posted at least seven comments on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, about the fabricated scandals in Minnesota. And he unleashed a racist insult, referring to the Somali community as “garbage” and saying that “They contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country [and that they] should be out of here.” He specifically addressed that to Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali-American citizen and a sitting member of Congress.

Naturally, the MAGA Republican Party won’t have a word of criticism about Trump’s hate-speech. Never mind their supposed pro-life principles. Their pro-Trump cult devotion supersedes any of their facades of faith. So they will cheer the hardships faced by American families due to this cutting off of funds. Just like they have cheered all of the other pieces of Trump’s agenda that has hurt the American people.

So Happy New Year, MAGA. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it isn’t going to last much longer. The new year will be bringing a new blue wave of electoral change as the approval ratings of Trump and his policies continue to sink to new lows.

WASSUP with Trump’s Weird Post Blaming Russia for ‘Standing in the Way of Peace’ with Ukraine?

Three years ago, at Vladimir Putin’s direction, Russia sent troops into Ukraine on a mission to occupy and annex the nation, and to overthrow its democratically elected government. That mission was opposed by the rest of the free world including the United States who, under the leadership of President Joe Biden, provided Ukraine with financial, military, and moral support.

Unfortunately, when Donald Trump returned the White House, he immediately began to reverse course and abandon the efforts on behalf of our ally Ukraine. Instead, Trump took the side of Putin, blaming the war on Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, who Trump actually accused of starting the war. Trump even blamed Biden for being either too weak (to deter Putin), or too strong (by supporting Ukraine’s entry into the European Union and NATO). Take your pick. But Trump’s loyalty to Putin was, and still is, unshakeable.

Which makes the comment that Trump posted today on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, something more than peculiar. The comment linked to an article in the ordinarily far-right tabloid, the New York Post, citing its headline that says “Putin ‘attack’ bluster shows Russia is the one standing in the way of peace.”

That’s a complete contradiction of Trump’s long held position that Putin is “serious” about wanting peace, and that Zelenskyy has been obstructing it. The Post’s article noted Trump’s unfounded optimism that an end to the war was “closer than ever before,” and that “Putin chose lies, hatred, and death instead,” referencing his evidence-free allegation that Ukraine had just bombed one of his residences. The article elaborated that…

“It’s rich that Putin, who has waged a brutal war for nearly four years, believes that any violence in his vicinity merits special outrage. After all, Russia launched 131 drones on Christmas at Kyiv and other cities, killing seven civilians. Civilians. The Kremlin specifically targets apartment buildings and power plants to punish the ordinary people of Ukraine. The Russians kidnap children. They torture and execute prisoners. Further, Moscow has tried repeatedly to assassinate Zelensky. Any attack on Putin is more than justified. But here’s the rub: The drone strike likely never happened.” […]

“The answer should not be more concessions, but a bigger stick. Kyiv has done its part. The onus should be on Putin to step up or face more stringent sanctions and more deadly weapons in Ukraine…Spare us his crocodile tears and turn up the heat.”

Despite the fact that there is no proof that Putin’s residence was bombed, Trump predictably took Putin’s word for it. Never mind that Zelenskyy denied it, and Trump had no evidence from U.S. or allied intelligence that confirmed it. To the contrary, Trump’s own NATO ambassador, Matthew Whitaker, couldn’t confirm it during a friendly interview on Fox News. [UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal reports that “U.S. Finds Ukraine Didn’t Target Putin in Drone Strike.”]

So it’s curious that Trump would post a link to this New York Post article that so forcefully condemns Russia and Putin. Did Trump just read the headline and fail to understand it? Was it a mistake that will be deleted soon? Or has Trump completely reversed his opinion and has chosen to reveal that in a one-line social media posting? This would mark a profound change in policy. And if anyone in the media is paying attention, they should ask him about it at the next opportunity.

During the 2024 campaign Trump promised that, were he elected, he would negotiate a peace plan between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours with a single phone call before he was even inaugurated. But he’s been in office now for nearly a year and hasn’t made any progress whatsoever. Russia, meanwhile, has actually escalated their relentless and barbaric bombing of civilians in Ukraine.

Trump could renew support for Ukraine at any time by providing weapons, intelligence, and other resources. He could impose more sanctions on Russia and confiscate billions of dollars of frozen Russian assets in U.S. banks, and hand it over to Ukraine. Or he could continue to lavish praise on Putin and criticism on Zelenskyy. Would anyone put odds against the latter?

Trump Takes Putin’s Side (Again) on Charges that Ukraine Attacked a Putin Residence

On Sunday Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy at his putrid Palm Beach palace, Mar-a-Lago. It went a bit better than the last meeting they had at the White House, where Trump and his cronies ambushed Zelenskyy and failed in their attempts to humiliate him. But that doesn’t mean that it went well this time.

Prior to the meeting it was revealed that Trump had spoken first to his boss, Vladimir Putin. Presumably to get his instructions for how to conduct the meeting. And Putin must have been pleased by what he saw. Trump could not have been more obedient to the agenda of his Russian master. There was little of substance that Trump could deliver afterward.

When asked by the press how the meeting went, Trump rattled off some cliché talking points about the it being “productive” and/or “constructive,” but no plans were laid out for peace, and no agreements were announced. It was typical Trumpian blather that was utterly devoid of anything meaningful, or even coherent. And it didn’t further the peace process any more than his prior diplomatic charades…

However, the lack of progress didn’t deter Trump from dispensing more of his hallmark bullshittery on Monday morning to the media gathered for an unrelated meeting with Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu.. Included was Trump’s absurdly unwarranted opinion that this time Putin is serious about peace, and “wants Ukraine to succeed.” He has a funny way of showing that, by bombing civilian targets in Ukrainian cities and slaughtering untold numbers of innocent people. And when challenged on that, Trump actually tried to equate Ukraine’s defensive actions with Russia’s savage aggression.

One especially disturbing issue arose when Trump was asked about reports that Ukraine had bombed one of Putin’s many residences in Russia. Trump replied that…

“I don’t like it. It’s not good. I heard about it this morning. You know who told me about it? President Putin told me about it. Early in the morning. He said he was attacked…I learned about it from President Putin today. I was very angry about it.”

That’s interesting considering that there has been no confirmation of any such attack, and Zelenskyy explicitly denied that it happened. Zelenskyy said that…

“Russia is at it again, using dangerous statements to undermine all achievements of our shared diplomatic efforts with President Trump’s team…This alleged ‘residence strike’ story is a complete fabrication intended to justify additional attacks against Ukraine, including Kyiv, as well as Russia’s own refusal to take necessary steps to end the war. Typical Russian lies.”

So Trump is once again taking the word of Putin, an American adversary, over that of Zelenskyy, an American ally. And even over the word of American intelligence. [UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal reports that “U.S. Finds Ukraine Didn’t Target Putin in Drone Strike.”]

It’s more proof that Trump is, knowingly or otherwise, a Russian asset who is working against the interests of the United States. This was further affirmed in the press avail on Sunday when Trump tried again to dismiss credible allegations of his collusion with Russia…

WHUT? Trump is defending himself against charges of his collusion with Russia by saying that "he'd call me, I'd call him. [and that] A lot of success could have been had by trading with Russia."He's literally admitting to colluding.

Meanwhile, Russian newspapers are reporting on the meeting with Zelenskyy, and they couldn’t be happier about how it all went down, saying that “The US leader’s philosophy is closer to the values of Russia’s president.” That’s true. And it’s troubling that the Russian media is reporting it, but that the American media isn’t..

HUH? Trump Flunky Tells Fox News that Small Businesses Are ‘Excited’ to Pay Taxes Thanks to Trump

His record of flagrantly lying about all matters, great or small, is unsurpassed. And while he isn’t particularly good at it, he is devoted to it.

Fortunately for Trump, he doesn’t need much skill to pass off his lies to the cult followers he is lying to. They hungrily eat them up and beg for more. And they can’t be persuaded that Trump’s lies are completely removed from reality because cult followers are brainwashed to believe only their Dear Leader and assume that everyone else is lying to them. Which allows Trump to take credit for virtually anything.

In addition to the barrage of flagrant falsehoods that flow from Trump himself, the Confederacy of Trumpists that populate his regime are similarly trained to disseminate untruths to the loyal MAGA-tists. Case in point is Trump’s SBA Administrator, Kelly Loeffler. She was at her post on Fox News Sunday morning to unleash a litany of lies to the willing believers…

“Small business optimism is really spiking under president Trump after four very difficult years under Joe Biden….I don’t think small business owners have ever been so excited to pay their taxes thanks to President Trump.”

Those comments are typical of the sort of gaslighting that Trump et al engage in. She expects people to accept the notion that business owners are actually “excited” to pay their taxes now that Trump has made it so much fun. Can’t you just imagine all of these taxpayers grinning ear to ear as they sign their tax returns and skip merrily down the street to deposit them in the mailbox?

There’s just one little problem. None of what Loeffler is saying is remotely true. To the contrary, small businesses are struggling to keep their heads above water in Trump’s collapsing economy. The Washington Post just published a detailed analysis entitled “Bankruptcies soar as companies grapple with inflation, tariffs.” The article began…

“Corporate bankruptcies surged in 2025, rivaling levels not seen since the immediate aftermath of the Great Recession, as import-dependent businesses absorbed the highest tariffs in decades.

“At least 717 companies filed for bankruptcy through November, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. That’s roughly 14 percent more than the same 11 months of 2024, and the highest tally since 2010.”

For the record, the 11 months of 2024 that saw far fewer bankruptcies were presided over by President Biden, who Loeffler falsely accused of leading through “four very difficult years.” While there were some challenges during Biden’s term, they were resolved before Trump was inaugurated. After which his policies just made things worse.

Had Loeffler ever actually spoken to any small business owners, she would know that that are not “excited” about paying taxes. Nor are they thrilled with the present economic conditions. She would know that they are suffering through hard times that are the direct result of Trump’s ignorance, negligence, and even deliberate malfeasance.

As for the business owners, they know that they are paying more for imported goods thanks to Trump’s tariffs. They know that it’s harder to hire and retain employees thanks to his short-sighted, xenophobic immigration policies. They know that there is anxiety inducing uncertainty caused by Trump frequently shifting his actions and rhetoric. And they are all to aware of the abysmal consumer sentiment ratings that are near historic lows. The University of Michigan’s “Index of Consumer Sentiment“ is down 28 points from the same time last year when Biden was finishing his term.

Yet somehow Trump’s SBA chief has the gall to go on Fox News and tell their viewers that they are all “excited” to pay their taxes. You have to wonder how many of them just nodded their heads and said “Yeah, it’s so exciting.” But it’s more likely that most of them furrowed their brows and thought “WTF is she talking about?”

Donald Trump, Impeach

Among the featured speakers is the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson. He is conveniently available because he has once again shut down the House in order to avoid having to take votes on embarrassing issues such as the extension of the health insurance premium subsidies in the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare). The last time Johnson shut down the House was to prevent the swearing in of Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva, and having to vote on releasing the Epstein files.

During Johnson’s speech for the AmericaInfest crowd he made a point of raising an alarm about the potentially disastrous prospects for the GOP in the upcoming midterm elections. Johnson and others in the Republican Party are terrified of being blown out in a massive “Blue Wave” election that would return majorities in the House and Senate to the Democrats. Most polls provide ample justification for those fears. So Johnson warned the MAGA-tists of the troubles they face, saying that…

“Everything that is said here – everything is on the line in the midterms of 2026. And we have much more to do. If we lose the House majority, the radical left, as you’ve already heard, is gonna impeach President Trump. They’re gonna create absolute chaos. We cannot let that happen.

And there you have it. Johnson has just provided what is perhaps the best reason for the American people to vote in unprecedented numbers for Democrats up and down the ballot next year. Trump is already a convicted felon. He has been found civilly liable for sexual harassment and abuse. His companies have been ordered to pay multimillion dollar judgments for having committed fraud. And that’s just looking at the recent past.

Currently Trump is using his office to enrich himself and his wealthy friends. He is committing war crimes in the Caribbean. He is embracing our enemies and abandoning our allies (i.e. Ukraine, NATO, the EU). He is deporting law abiding migrants to foreign gulags. And his domestic economic policies are creating financial hardships for millions of Americans.

All of the above – and there is plenty more – is more than enough reason to impeach Trump. And the American people appear to be ready to take that step. Trump’s polling is dreadful. Even the latest Fox News poll has him floundering in deeply negative territory.

What’s more, Trump is seen by most voters as being oblivious to their concerns. A quick look at the issues that the voters care most about shows how thoroughly out of touch he is with what the people want.

Instead of paying attention to the interests of the people, Trump is demolishing parts of the White House to build a golden ballroom. He is attaching his name to a memorial for John F. Kennedy. He is directing his “Justice” Department to persecute his political foes. He is imposing inflationary tariffs (aka taxes) on American businesses and consumers. And he still finds time to play golf, attend sporting events, watch TV, and rage-post.

Those may not be impeachable offenses, but they contribute to the sentiment that is spreading like wildfire. Except, of course, among the MAGA cult. Although Don Jr had something to contribute during his speech at AmericaInfest that might have a different meaning for most Americans than he intended. He bragged that “This isn’t the Republican Party anymore. It’s the America First Party. It’s the MAGA Party.” In other words… IT’S A CULT!

The trials and tribulations of Donald Trump continue to gnaw at him and his MAGA movement mavens as his policies continue to fail and cause grievous harm to the American people. Not surprisingly, his approval ratings are scraping the bare bottom at depths that are – as he might describe it – 200, 500, 1,200% lower than anything that has ever been seen before.

Donald Trump and Karoline Leavitt

In the midst of Trump’s miserable showing in the polls, his Press/Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, is spinning as fast as she can to try to present a palatable impression of her Dear Leader’s position in the political hellscape of his own making. But so far, it doesn’t seem to be doing any good.

On Saturday morning Leavitt posted a comment on Twitter/X that was likely intended to raise the spirits of he boss. And he really needs it, considering the pitiful performances he has been giving lately.

A primetime television address showed Trump barking like a rabid hound at a national TV audience to berate them for not adoring him enough. And at a follow up rally in North Carolina he appeared to be on heavy sedatives as he babbled incoherently about everything from his repeated cognitive tests (that generally are not repeated unless there’s a problem), to Melania’s “perfect” panties. Leavitt’s comment gushed that…

“President Donald Trump’s approval rating rose to 50 percent in a new RMG Research poll, marking his strongest showing by the pollster in more than a month.”

WOW! Trump’s approval rocketed up to less than a clear majority by RMG Research (Rasmussen), a notoriously biased, right-wing pollster. How proud he must be. Certainly Leavitt is thrilled by this achievement. So thrilled that she forgot to post some of the other findings in the same Newsweek article to which she linked. Such as that…

“…the poll found more respondents strongly disapprove of Trump than strongly approve, with 38 percent saying they strongly disapprove and 27 percent saying they strongly approve.”

But that “pain” (especially for the people) notwithstanding, Trump’s ego must be constantly massaged, and it’s the unpleasant duty of Trump-fluffers like Leavitt to do the dirty work. You might almost feel sorry for her. Almost.

Trump Brags (Lies) That the Unemployment Rate Rose Because He Fired Lots of Federal Workers

The November jobs report revealed that unemployment increased to a four year high of 4.6% eleven months after Trump’s reoccupation of the White House. Although Trump routinely tries to blame everything bad on the “fake news” and/or President Biden’s impressively enduring impact on the government that he left nearly a year ago, he has been unable to make any of that stick.

Undeterred by his prior failures to shift blame, Trump is trying again to evade responsibility for the harm his neglect, ignorance, incompetence, and deliberate malfeasance has imposed on the nation and its people. Unfortunately he has the assistance of the media that he pretends to despise, but which is actually his partner in spreading his perverse distortions of reality.

While Trump can lie about pretty much anything, the troubled state of the economy is a harder con to sell, because people know what everything they are buying actually costs. Trump can’t just tell them that they are paying less when they know that isn’t true. Well, he can and does tell them that, but they know that he’s lying.

The same thing is true with regard to the just released job numbers for November. The new report showing a 4.6% unemployment rate reflects the reality that the American people face everyday. But in Trump’s world it is a fluid figure that he can falsify because it doesn’t affect him or anyone he knows or cares about. Consequently, he posted the following comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, as his explanation for the higher unemployment numbers…

“The only reason our Unemployment ticked up to 4.5% is because we are reducing the Government Workforce by numbers that have never been seen before. 100% OF OUR NEW JOBS ARE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR! I could reduce Unemployment to 2% overnight by just hiring people into the Federal Government, even though those Jobs are not necessary. I wish the Fake News would report the 4.5% correctly. What I am doing is the only way to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

First of all, Trump incorrectly says that “our Unemployment ticked up to 4.5%,” when it actually ticked up to 4.6%. But that was the least important error in his comment. Trump’s statement that unemployment worsened because of a reduced government workforce has no factual basis. Nor does his claim that he “could reduce Unemployment to 2% overnight by just hiring people into the Federal Government.” And he doesn’t bother to provide any support for those claims. Although he did repeat the same lies to the press a few hours later…

“The only reason our unemployment tucked up and went up to 4.5%, which it went up to 4.5%, which is quite a low number, but still, it is because we are reducing the government workforce by numbers that have never been seen before.”

It’s rather bizarre that Trump is bragging about having raised the unemployment rate by putting hundreds of thousands of productive Americans out of work. These are people who performed critical services for the Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and more. So not only is Trump hurting those fired workers, he’s hurting every American who relied on those services.

As for Trump’s preposterous claim that rehiring fired federal employees “could reduce unemployment to 2%, 1%, or practically zero,” that is another example of his mathematical illiteracy. The number of federal workers that were fired during Trump’s term since January is estimated to be around 317,000, according to his own Office of Personnel Management. While that is a significant amount of people and families that Trump has hurt, adding those people back into the workforce would only reduce the unemployment rate from 4.6% to about 4.4%. Which is a long way from “2%, 1%, or practically zero.”

This is par for the course for Trump. It mirrors his claim that he will cut drug prices by as much as 1,200%, when any cut greater than 100% would mean that the drugs would be free, or even result in the drug company paying the customer to buy the drugs. That doesn’t compute. Nor does Trump’s unemployment stats. Nor does his claims about tariffs revenue. That only thing that we can depend on with regard to Trump is that he will lie shamelessly about everything. And so will his sycophantic minions in Congress and the MAGA media.

Is Secretary of ‘War’ Pete Hegseth Covering Up the War Crimes that He and Trump Have Committed?

For the past few months Donald Trump has presided over a series of deadly air strikes on boats in the Caribbean that he alleged were engaged in drug trafficking. Never mind that he provided no evidence to support his allegations, or that such strikes in international waters are against international law. And even if there were evidence, the alleged crimes would not have been subject to capital punishment.

Trump’s Caribbean misadventures have been conducted purely for what he perceives to be the political benefit of slaughtering what he calls “narco-terrorists” (a ridiculous, made up term), and its usefulness in deflecting from his tribulations involving the Epstein files that he continues to suppress. Meanwhile, Trump’s Secretary of “War” Pete Hegseth, has holiday visions of bloody corpses dancing in his head…

One particularly disturbing attack occurred on September 2, 2025, when the first air strike left a couple of survivors clinging to the wreckage of their boat. So there was a second strike ordered that succeeded in murdering the two helpless survivors. Most reputable military legal experts have called that a war crime.

Video of the first strike was released shortly after it occurred, But video of the second strike has been mysteriously withheld. Consequently, there has been a great deal of interest in releasing the second video in order to ascertain the facts that have been mired in controversy and ever-changing.

When this subject was first raised with Trump, he pretended to have an opinion favoring complete transparency and told reporters that he had “no problem” with releasing the second video. But that position didn’t hold for very long…

On December 3:
Question: You released video of that first boat strike on September 2nd, but not the second video. will you release the video of that strike so that the American people can see for themselves what happened?
Trump: I don’t know what they have, but whatever they have, we’d certainly release. No problem.
On December 8:
Question: You said you would have no problem with releasing the full video of that strike on September 2nd off the coast of Venezuela.
Trump: I didn’t say that. You said that. I didn’t say that. This is ABC fake news…Whatever Hegseth wants to do is OK with me.

So Trump’s willingness to release the second video was short-lived, and he quickly shifted responsibility for what was being described as a war crime to his DoD underling, Hegseth. In the process, denying that he said what he was actually caught saying to a room full of reporters.

On Tuesday morning Hegseth was asked about the second video and gave an answer that appears he hopes will close the debate, saying that he would…

“…allow the HASC [House Armed Services Committee} and SASC [Senate Armed Services Committee] to see the unedited video of September 2nd, alongside Admiral Bradley, who has done a fantastic job, has made all the right calls, and we’re glad he’ll be there to do it. But in keeping with long-standing Department of Defense policy, of course we’re not going to release a top-secret, full, unedited video of that to the general public. HASC and SASC, appropriate committees, will see it, but not the general public.”

For some reason it has been appropriate to release every other video of the two dozen boat strikes (so far) in the Caribbean before this. They are estimated to have resulted in at least 95 deaths, possibly of innocent fishermen. But for this one video different rules apply, even though nothing is different about it. There is nothing more in it that would compromise national security or confidential military sources or methods.

The only difference with this second video is that it might reveal to the American people just how lawless and inhumane the Trump regime is in their conduct of this phony, undeclared war. So Hegseth prohibits its release in order to shield himself – and Trump – from accountability for their criminal misconduct. It also shields them from the public disgust and disgrace that would follow if they were to see what Hegseth and Trump have been up to.

Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress have been calling for the video to be released. Any efforts to suppress it can only be viewed as a deliberate cover up. And Hegseth cannot be the final word on this. Ultimately, Trump is supposed to be the commander-in-chief, and it his his decision to release or hide this video.

If Trump chooses to hide the video, he is essentially admitting that it contains information that would incriminate him and others. Very much like his choice to hide the Epstein files. Hopefully Congress will prevail in this matter, and the people will get the truth to which they are entitled.
