Her four decades of service to her constituents and country, culminating in becoming the first woman to rise to the Speakership, will be recorded in American history as an unprecedented achievement.

Among the things that Pelosi will be relieved from in her retirement, are the constant, infantile insults hurled at her by Donald Trump, who is seething with jealousy and a maniacal obsession for vengeance. Trump’s attacks are typically fueled by lies and personal animus. He rarely mentions her name without appending “crooked” or “crazy” to it. And he makes up “scandals” that have no basis in reality.

After hearing about Pelosi’s intention to retire, Trump was asked by Peter Doocy of Fox News for a comment. And true to form, Trump exhibited his world-class aversion to civility and diplomacy. He raged that…

“The retirement of Nancy Pelosi is a great thing for America. She was evil, corrupt, and only focused on bad things for our country. She was rapidly losing control of her party, and it was never coming back. I’m very honored she impeached me twice and failed miserably twice. Nancy Pelosi is a highly overrated politician.”

There is literally nothing in that rant that contains even a shred of truth. Pelosi presided over some of the most productive years of Congress. She did not “lose control,” she passed it on. And her management of the two impeachments of Trump were both successful, as far as their progress in the House of Representatives is concerned.

However, no one should be surprised by Trump’s nauseating remarks that explicitly accuse Pelosi of criminality, albeit without evidence or even a citation of an actual crime. It is just his congenital callousness and habitual hatred that drives everything he does.

To be sure, Pelosi has had some harsh words for Trump at times. She recently described him as “a vile creature,” elaborating that he is…

“The worst thing on the face of the Earth…Because he’s the president of the United States, and he does not honor the Constitution of the United States. In fact, he’s turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court. He’s abolished the House of Representatives. He’s chilled the press.”

It’s hard to argue with that. Although, Pelosi has some extraordinarily moving justification for her negative feelings about Trump. Three years ago, when her husband Paul was the victim of a near fatal attack in their home, Trump made crude jokes about it for the entertainment of the cult followers at his rallies.

When Trump wasn’t laughing at an attempted murder, he was baselessly accusing Pelosi of financial fraud or some unexplained malfeasance related to the January 6th insurrection that he incited, and that was being investigated by Congress.

For her part, Pelosi released an inspiring video that summarized some of her tenure in Congress, her love for her country, and her devotion to public service. It was a touching recollection of a long career that was filled with the sort of dignity and honor that only a true patriot can muster. She said in part that…

“My message to the city I love is this: San Francisco, know your power. We have made history. We have made progress. We have always led the way. And now we must continue to do so by remaining full participants in our democracy and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear.”

Republicans Learn Nothing From Their Electoral Spanking, but Trump Learns to Savor Dictatorship

They won governorships in New Jersey and Virginia. they won the mayoral race in New York City. They won the California redistricting initiative that will be a prelude to similar measures in other states.

Donald Trump, Biggest Loser

Republicans on the other hand lost by unexpectedly large margins. The races mentioned above were not even close. That sort of collapse is generally a harbinger of hard times ahead for the party at the bottom of the heap. And yet, their response to this smackdown is to doubledown on their extremist MAGA-tism with ever more radical proposals that, in many cases, will help Democrats more than the pitifully desperate GOP.

Confirming that Republicans are infected with a fatal case of flop sweat, their Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, held a post-election press conference to exhibit just how removed he is from reality. He told the assemble media that…

“I don’t think the loss last night was any reflection about Republicans at all. I think people are frustrated and angry, as we are, I am, the president is, and we express that in different ways. But we’re looking forward to a great election running on our record.”

Does this election outcome reflect on Republicans? Of course not. Why would the overwhelming votes of millions of people have anything to do with the party that lost so badly? Although, Johnson is right that “people are frustrated and angry.” At Republicans. Which also explains why he and Trump are angry and frustrated.

As for running on their record, Johnson and his MAGA minions are welcome to do that. And Democrats will be happy to help. It’s record that consists of higher prices, less democracy, military invasions of U.S. cities, inflationary tariffs, tax cuts for the rich, skyrocketing healthcare premiums, cutting off food aid, murdering alleged drug traffickers with no evidence, censoring comedians, and protecting pedophiles. What could go wrong?

For his part, Trump followed up the election debacle with a commentary that not only put his ignorance of the plight of the American people on display, it provided further evidence of his mental deficiency. He told a reporters that…

“All we want is voter ID. You go to a grocery store, you have to give ID. You go to a gas station, you give ID. But for voting they want no voter ID. It’s only for one reason: because they cheat.”

Donald Trump has never been to a grocery store or a gas station.Which may explain why he doesn't know or care that groceries and gas is still to expensive. How do MAGAts think this guy is in touch with their lives.

What’s more, if that wasn’t bad enough, Trump offered his excuse for the electoral catastrophe in a posting to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. In a typically pathetic comment he whined that…

“TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT.”

HAHAHAHAHA…Trump thinks he wasn't on the ballot. He's the reason that turnout for Democrats hit record levels. But he's right that the #TrumpShutdown was part of the reason for the GOP election losses.Congratulations California, New Jersey, Virginia, New York, and America.

If Trump really thinks that he wasn’t on the ballot, he is more cognitively diminished than we thought. Exit polls showed that many voters specifically showed up at the polls to register their disapproval of Trump. And no one was more insistent that his influence would be a key factor in the election outcomes than he was. As for the government shutdown that he and his GOP confederates orchestrated – and continue to prolong – that was indeed a significant reason for why voters came out in droves for Democrats.

The attitude of Trump and the Republican Party in the wake of their devastating losses is proof that that have no capacity whatsoever for self-reflection or any ability to learn from their mistakes. Which is good news for Democrats. It means that the GOP won’t bother to correct course between now and the midterm elections in 2026. Consequently, the defeats that they suffered yesterday will only be magnified next year. We can hardly wait.

Democrats running for governor of New Jersey and Virginia are leading in the polls. And the redistricting initiative in California, that could create five new Democratic districts, is expected to pass in landslide.

Consequently, Trump is behaving just as you might have predicted. He’s lashing out furiously with the sort of vicious and incoherent tirades you’d expect from a grossly impudent five year old. It’s an extension of his recent lie-riddled interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” where he couldn’t string two sentences together without mangling reality or maligning a political foe.

On Tuesday morning Trump previewed the outcomes of the elections being held with his transparently pessimistic perspective in a series of comments on his failing Twitter rip off, Truth Social. Among the tantrums Trump is throwing is one where he whines about “rigged” voting in California, where he’s already conceding defeat. And then there’s the one where he demands that Republicans “terminate the filibuster.” Which isn’t such a bad idea. And he also celebrates low ratings for MSNBC, while ignoring that Fox News declined 36% in the past year. And he announces that he will defy a court order to distribute SNAP benefits to needy families.

However, perhaps the most profoundly grotesque comment was the one where he literally called tens of thousands of Jews in New York City “stupid” if the vote for Democratic mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani. Trump ranted that…

“Any Jewish person that votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self professed JEW HATER, is a stupid person!!!”

What a great closing argument by Trump for the mayoral race wherein he has half-heartedly endorsed the disgraced former governor, Andrew Cuomo. Insult one of the biggest voting demographics in the city with a blatantly anti-Semitic taunt. And it’s a voting bloc that was shown in a recent Fox News poll to have significant support for Mamdani, being virtually tied with Cuomo (Mamdani 38%, Cuomo 42%).

This is especially disgusting considering that Trump is a well known “Jew Hater.” He has actually dined with Nick Fuentes, an avowed neo-Nazi, at his Mar-a-Lago hotel/home. And Nick arrived with his anti-Semitic pal, Kanye West, where they both sat at Trump’s table. Trump is also the leader of the party whose “Young Republicans” were recently exposed in online chats saying that they “love Hitler.” Trump never bothered to rebuke those sentiments.

The desperation in Trump’s election day rants is unlikely to change the outcome of today’s races. If anything, it might make the defeat of Trump’s candidates and issues even more pronounced. And we can expect that before the sunrises on Wednesday, Trump will be insisting that all of the races were “rigged and stolen.” And he’ll probably blame it all on President Biden who, in Trump’s cartoon brain, is both a political genius and a mental basket case.

Seth Meyers Triggers Crybaby Trump to Whine that Being Anti-Trump is ‘Probably Illegal’

In both his words and actions Trump demonstrates that he has an insatiable compulsion to reign as an unchallengeable dictator who demands unflinching loyalty to him alone.

The range of Trump’s atrocities in the past nine months of his second occupation of the White House is impressively tyrannical. He could not be more clear about his nefarious intentions. And his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt was kind enough to remind us all of the sort of monstrous things that Trump is doing while the American people suffer.

The latest example of Trump’s blatant fomenting of fascism comes in another one of his comments posted to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. In a typically rancid outburst, Trump lashed out at late night talk show host, Seth Meyers, for hilariously mocking Trump’s ignorance and obsession with petty grievances that he pitifully fails to understand. Trump raged that…

“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television. In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic. Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”

Trump’s animus toward Meyers has been a decades long affair. It likely began when Meyers was the featured comedian at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2011, where he performed a killer routine that took some jolting jabs at Trump, who obviously didn’t think it was funny. So it hardly matters that today Trump thinks Meyers is untalented. He’s been saying that for years. And he’s still saying it as recently as this past August…

What matters is that Trump closed his rant by whining that Meyers was “ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!” That’s right. The American PINO (President in Name Only) has declared that it’s illegal to be anti-Trump. And all because Meyers revealed that Trump is an idiot who knows nothing about whatever subject he is stuck on. On this occasion it was the differences between steam powered or electro-magnetic catapults on aircraft carriers (Video below).

TRUMP: “They’re spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric. And the problem, when it breaks, you have to send up to MIT, get the most brilliant people in the world, fly them out, it’s ridiculous. The steam they said they could fix with a hammer and a blowtorch and it works just as well if not better. And I love the sight of that beautiful steam pouring off that deck – with the electric, you don’t have that.” […]
MEYERS: “[Trump] spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E Coyote. Next, they’re gonna start complaining how our troops don’t tie themselves to rockets anymore, [Imitating Trump] ‘We used to strap our soldiers to the rockets and they loved it, but then everything got woke and they said ‘You can’t tie a person to a rocket. But we miss those days and we’re bringing them back.'”

Then Meyers delivers his new segment “Seth Translates Trump To English,” in which he gives an explanation of the difference between the catapults that is far more detailed than anything Trump could do. Meyers also provides another example of Trump saying that any criticism of him is treason.

It Trump really wants to make any criticism of him a breach of the law – or even worse, treason – he’s going to have to build a lot more prisons. Or at least make more deals for millions of cells is foreign gulags. Needless to say, he won’t get away with it. But he can still do some short term damage. And he must not be allowed any leeway for any of it.

It will take a broad coalition of patriots – Democrats, Independents, and Republicans – as well as the courts and the Congress to smack down Trump’s anti-American crusade. We are all necessary in this valiant fight to 8647. Be strong, and be ready. And recognize that Trump and his MAGA clown brigades are far weaker than he wants you to believe.

Having an avowed autocrat as the American PINO (President in Name Only) is creating unprecedented challenges that portend seriously disturbing consequences if not rejected by the American people and what remains of our government institutions.

Unfortunately, those institutions are being strained by the cowardice of Trump’s Republican Party colleagues and the blind fealty of his White House staff. And topping the list of the Trump Sycophants Brigade is his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt.

With all of the trauma and turmoil that this nation is currently undergoing, Leavitt made a point of highlighting what she regards as among the most worrisome problems that America is facing. And she tweeted her relief that Dear Leader was addressing that problem head on, saying that…

“When I first learned a toilet like that existed inside the White House, I was horrified. President Trump is making the People’s House more elegant and beautiful for generations of Americans to come!”

Thank gawd! Now, along with building an elegant ballroom for Trump to throw parties paying tribute to him. he and his guests will be able to defecate in the luxury to which they are accustomed. How could anyone even contemplate the horror of the loathsome lavatory on the left in the photos above? But now “generations of Americans” will delight in the gaudy “elegance” of the marble amenities that Trump has installed. Well, actually only a handful of privileged elites with access to the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House.

Trump posted seven separate comments about his facility upgrade on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. So naturally, Leavitt backed him up in a tweet. It is notable that Leavitt has expressed how “horrified” she was by the prior state of the rest room. So, for the record, let’s explore just a few of the things that did not “horrify” Leavitt:

  • Trump’s government shutdown that cut off food aid for children and seniors
  • Trump’s termination of funding for the USAID that will result in thousands of deaths
  • Inflationary tariffs that raise the cost of living of most Americans
  • Healthcare premiums skyrocketing by as much as 400%
  • Trump’s “Justice” Department prosecuting his political foes
  • Ministers getting shot in the face by ICE agents
  • Trump sending the military into American cities
  • Palestinians suffering genocidal attacks in Gaza
  • Trump halting military support for Ukraine at the behest of Vladimir Putin
  • Murder of Venezuelans in the Caribbean who may have been innocent fishermen
  • Trump and Republicans calling peaceful protesters “terrorists”
  • Trump suppressing the media that he calls “the enemy of the people”

With all of that going on, it is comforting that at least we can be grateful now that Leavitt and her ilk will no longer have to suffer from using a toilet that isn’t embedded in a marble mausoleum. Likewise, we can rest assured that Trump is focusing like a laser on the matters that truly impact the lives of the American people. And now he has a place to deposit his excrement, rather than on top of the people who were protesting his authoritarian aspirations.

Trump is truly doing the devil’s work as he imposes inflationary tariffs that increase the cost of living, bombs boats in the Caribbean without any evidence that they are anything but innocent fishermen, rounds up migrants for deportation to foreign gulags, prosecutes his political foes, and keeps the government shutdown while the American people suffer from loss of pay and benefits.

Now, just in time for Halloween, Trump is issuing threats that should scare the pants of all decent, patriotic Americans. Because he has been unable to shove his despicable and unpopular policies down the throats of the Democratic representatives of the people, which triggers his frustration of not reigning like an all-powerful dictator, Trump is commanding his MAGA GOP puppets in Congress to “NUKE” the longstanding parliamentary rules of the Senate in order to get his way.

Trump posted an interminably long comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, wherein he called for Republicans to invoke what he calls the “”Nuclear Option.” His raging edict to eliminate the filibuster includes the following excerpts…

“It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option — Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW!” […]

“Just a short while ago, the Democrats, while in power, fought for three years to do this, but were unable to pull it off…to substantially expand (PACK!) the United States Supreme Court, make Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico States…and many other highly destructive things.” […]

“I want to do it in order to take advantage of the Democrats.”

Scary, isn’t it? But what’s really frightening about it should worry Republicans more than the Democrats that Trump is aiming to “take advantage of.” Because while there would surely be some near-term political atrocities, finishing off the filibuster could result in some unintended terror for the Trumpists when, inevitably, the Democrats regain the majority in Congress, and the White House. Long desired Democratic legislation could be passed without any interference from the GOP obstructionists. For instance…

  • Pass election reforms including the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act to set national standards for early voting, mail-in voting, and redistricting.
  • Supreme Court reforms including ethics standards, term limits, and adding four more justices.
  • Improving on the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and working toward Medicare for All.
  • The Green New Deal programs to advance clean energy mandates.
  • Increase the federal minimum wage to $15.00 or more.
  • Codify Roe v. Wade and LGBTQ+ equality protections to be applicable nationwide.
  • Pass comprehensive gun safety laws such as universal background checks and banning assault weapons.
  • Expand child care and elder care programs that Republicans have been blocking.
  • Tax the rich and provide tax relief for working class Americans.
  • Statehood for Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico that would enfranchise those citizens and create four more senate seats.
  • Release the Epstein files if they are still being withheld by the time the next Democratic Congress is in session.

And that’s just for starters. It’s ironic that Trump is launching his campaign to nuke the filibuster at the same time as he is declaring his intention to resume testing actual nukes. But the result could be the pursuit and achievement of an aggressive progressive agenda. And Republicans may come to regret the change just so that they could give Trump congressional approvals to do things that he has already been doing without approval or legal justification.

However, we should never underestimate the ability of the GOP to fail to think things through, and wind up hurting themselves. Given their determination to unleash holy hell on America, their incompetence is one of the few bright spots that Democrats and all Americans can rely on.

In the days following the “No Kings” events, Trump has done little to disabuse anyone of the warnings of the emerging dictatorship that Trump portends. To the contrary, he is actually exacerbating the cause for alarm. And on Thursday morning he posted a comment on his failing Twitter rip off, Truth Social, that justifies the concerns of the people who abhor his monarchal maneuvers. Trump raged that…

“Worked really hard, 24/7, took in Trillions of Dollars, and Chuck Schumer said trip was ‘a total dud,’ even though he knows it was a spectacular success. Words like that are almost treasonous!!!”v

There is a steaming pile of putrid prevarication in that tortured tirade. First of all, Trump never works “really hard.” He is perhaps the laziest occupant of the White House ever. He spends most of his time golfing, watching Fox News, and posting inane comments online. What’s more, he certainly didn’t work 24 hours a day for seven days while in Asia. In fact, the junket only lasted for five days. But in his defense, every day he is in office feels like a week. Nor did he take in “trillions of dollars.” If he did, then where is it? It’s not in the U.S. treasury. There is no record of its receipt. Did he get it in crypto and deposit it in his private account?

However, Trump was right about one thing. Sen. Chuck Schumer did say that Trump’s trip was “a total dud.” But he said it in the middle of a fifteen minute address on the Senate floor where he castigated Trump for his incompetence and dishonesty. The odds that Trump actually listened to the whole speech are less than zero. So somebody on his staff likely told him about the “dud” remark and nothing else.

Therefore, Trump likely didn’t hear that Schumer also said that “As we enter the 29th day of the government shutdown, where is Donald Trump? He is gallivanting in Asia, dancing in Malaysia.” Schumer also noted that Trump would “strike a trade deal that will sell out the American people,” and “give away vital national security tools, in exchange for little more than a photo op,” and that “This is Trump’s M.O. in foreign policy. He creates a giant mess. Then he wants everyone to praise him when he tries to clean it up and ignore the damage that he has inflicted.” And then came the part that triggered Trump…

“Trump’s trip to the Asian continent could have been a real opportunity to make progress with America’s vital trading partners. He could have used this trip to end his reckless trade war, to stop alienating our allies, to show strength and unite our allies against the Chinese Communist Party, and, most importantly, to help Americans struggling with high costs here at home. But so far, his trip has been a total dud.“

Many Democrats have been critical of Schumer lately, believing that he has not been aggressive enough at countering the threat that Trump represents to democracy and America. Whatever the validity of that criticism, Schumer gave a bold and forthright condemnation of Trump on this particular occasion. And Trump showed that, once again, he is a tender and fragile snowflake who can’t handle honest appraisals of his failures and flaws.

Consequently, Trump responds by lashing out with preposterously vile and childish insults and accusations of treason. But Trump’s inbred hatred has driven him to cast aspersions of treason on many of his political foes, including: President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, James Comey, Adam Schiff, Liz Cheney, and pretty much all of the media.

Trump also wanted all of the members of the House January.6th committee tried for treason. That’s the Committee that was investigating the actual treason committed by Trump’s cult, and whom Trump pardoned despite their having ransacked the Capitol and sent 140 police officers to the hospital in an effort to undermine democracy.

For good – or more accurately, bad – measure, Trump also posted a comment baselessly attacking President Joe Biden for unspecified crimes, and also calling for him to be incarcerated. And of course, the comment sunk to the level of a petulant seven year old whose only motivation was vengeance…

Whiny baby Trump can't get over having lost to President Biden. So, like the wannabe dictator that he is, he makes infantile insults (ugly?) and has orgasmic thrills from delusions that Biden is "squirming."Even worse, Trump keeps calling for Biden' arrest, despite no evidence of any crime.

These comments are not going to do much to persuade anyone that Trump doesn’t aspire to reign as an unchallenged tyrant in the mold of heroes and mentors, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. And Sen. Schumer touched on that as well in his speech, saying that…

“American families are facing enough problems right now, with the nightmare of open enrollment, the pain of higher groceries, the prices of everything from cars to home appliances to electricity skyrocketing. The last thing they want is to turn on the TV and see Trump being gifted a golden crown and then signing a deal with China that royally screws over Americans.”

More of this, please. Every Democrat- in fact, every patriot – needs to echo and expand on these remarks. And we need to do it until every trace of Trumpism is gone. That’s the only way that we can actually make America great again.

MAGA Mike Johnson Inadvertently Gives a Master Class on the Mental Incapacity of Donald Trump

When the Republican Party chose Mike Johnson as their leader, and subsequently House Speaker, it was a desperation move following the crash of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the failure of any other Republican to garner enough votes for the job.

McCarthy was booted from the post because he agreed to a Continuing Resolution that passed with Democratic support. Then the GOP took three weeks to select Johnson after running through such losers as Steve Scalise, Jim Jordan, and Tom Emmer. So naturally, Johnson is scared witless of actually doing his job, which requires negotiating with Democrats. The result is that he’s living down to the low expectations people had of him from the start.

During his morning press briefing on Tuesday, Johnson sought to manufacture yet another fallacious “scandal” to deflect from his incompetent “leadership.” He told the assembled media about a report just released by the GOP chair of the House Oversight Committee that contained nothing but fiction about President Biden and the pardons he issued. Johnson ranted that…

“Oversight chairman James Comer released a blockbuster report on the ‘Biden Autopen Presidency.’ And this report includes 47 hours worth of transcripts and testimony revealing that every executive action signed by the autopen without written authorization should be voided…Including all the pardons that he signed.”

For the record, there was nothing in the report that remotely resembled evidence of anything untoward by Biden. It was full of biased and baseless conjecture provided other Republicans. Which won’t surprise anyone who is familiar with Comer’s prior work as Oversight chair, wherein he utterly failed to find any wrongdoing by the Biden family or any other Democrat that he targeted for persecution.

However, the report’s release was enough for Johnson to launch a bizarre assault on Biden and his mental acuity while in the White House. Johnson unloaded the following certifiable nonsense…

“Nothing this incredible and insane has happened before. This is not something that the forefathers anticipated. It’s unprecedented. There is no legal precedent. No previous president had an autopen, or had the audacity to have people signing things on their behalf when they didn’t even know what was in it…The President was checked out of his job for quite some time, and everybody knows it.” […]

“[Biden] pardoned categories of violent criminals and turned them out on the streets. He didn’t even know what the categories were, apparently, much less the individual people that he pardoned. They’re invalid on their face. I would love to take this case and go into the court and make that way to set the precedent. You can’t allow a president to check out and have unelected, faceless people making massive decisions for the country.

First of all, Johnson’s claim that “No previous president had an autopen,” is spectacularly deranged. Autopens have been in use by presidents since the 1950s. But more to the point, Johnson is flagrantly lying about Biden’s use of the autopen. Johnson has no proof that any executive action or pardon was signed by Biden, with or without an autopen, that he was unfamiliar with. Johnson is just blindly insulting Biden because that’s what infantile, desperate Republicans do.

Ironically, virtually everything that Johnson accused Biden of was actually true for Johnson’s Dear Leader Trump. And there is evidence of it as well. There is abundant video of Trump signing executive orders where he needs to have the order explained to him before he signs it. And certainly Trump had no idea who the 1,500 rioters were that he pardoned for their participation in the January 6th insurrection that he incited. They included many who pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers as they stormed the Capitol.

Talk about being “checked out.” Trump’s obsession with windmills, and showers, and strong men who cry and call him sir, is patently demented. The funny thing about Johnson’s comments about Biden is that they fit Trump so perfectly. It is Trump who is dangling by a thread of sanity. And the folks at The Meidas Touch put together a short video that really drives the point home.

It is nearing the record for a shutdown (35 days) that was set by Trump during his first term. Throughout this time Trump and his MAGA Republicans in Congress have desperately sought to shift the blame to their Democratic colleagues who are are in the minority.

Leading the crusade of disinformation is the GOP Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, who has single handedly closed the House of Representatives even though there is no reason that the House can’t be in session and get critical work done while federal government agencies are shuttered. The Senate is open for business. But Johnson doesn’t really want the shutdown to end for political reasons, and he has said so explicitly…

What’s more, Johnson is also exploiting the shutdown in order to avoid swearing in newly elected Democratic representative Adelita Grijalva, who would provide the final signature necessary to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files that Trump is so terrified of becoming public.

Consequently, Johnson is pulling out all the stops to protect the Epstein pedophiles, including Trump, and to spread the most vile slander about Democrats that can muster. A couple of weeks ago Johnson was attacking Democrats, and millions of Americans who participated in the “No Kings” demonstrations, as “terrorists.” But now he is maniacally upping the ante by announcing the total demise of the Democratic Party. In a Monday morning press briefing, Johnson railed that…

“What we’re witnessing is truly the end of the Democratic Party as we’ve known it. And even some Democrats are saying that out loud. You can see it in their interviews. I watched one last night.

“All of this is directly related to the Democrats’ shutdown show. Why? Because just like they decided to save their own skin, that they had to endorse the Marxist Mamdani in an unprecedented move, they have also decided that they had to shutdown the government in an unprecedented move, no matter the pain that inflicts on the hard working American people. They are simply more afraid of the Marxists in their party than they are of voters.”

There’s a surprising quantity of flat out idiocy in that brief oratory. Let’s begin with the fact that the Democratic Party is very much alive. In fact, it is polling better than Republicans, particularly on the shutdown, with 45% blaming the Republicans and only 39% pointing to the Democrats. And while Johnson claims that he has seen Democrats saying their party is dead, he doesn’t name names. But that’s only because he’s lying.

Johnson went on to malign the leading candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, as a Marxist. Which is another lie that he and his fellow GOP Republicans are chanting in lockstep unison like good little fascists.

Finally, Johnson perpetuates the lie that Democrats are responsible for the pain being inflicted on the American people by the shutdown that has been orchestrated by Republicans. They are the majority party in both the House and the Senate. Their party leader is occupying the White House. It is their responsibility to negotiate a bipartisan deal that serves the best interests of all Americans.

Johnson, however, won’t consider doing that because he is the one who is more afraid of Dear Leader than of the voters. Johnson, in the fashion of history’s most notorious political servants to dictators, has completely abdicated his role as Speaker of the House to his master, Donald the Trump. And to make his humiliation even more pronounced, Johnson posted a video of President Obama blasting Republicans for shutting down the government during his term. But Johnson doesn’t realize that Obama’s arguments are even more damning now to today’s Republicans…

On Sunday morning Trump’s Treason …er… Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, sought to add a new wrinkle to the definition of what“America First” means. During an interview on NBC with Kirsten Welker, Bessent was asked about Trump’s recent $40 billion gift to his pal Javier Milei, the current totalitarian leader of Argentina…

Welker: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, I’ll read a little bit of what she wrote. She says “Americans are getting decimated with high cost of living and skyrocketing insurance costs. Many of them have zero savings and some are maxing out credit cards to survive. Tell me how it’s America First to bailout a foreign country with $20 or even $40 BILLION taxpayer dollars.” How is this move America First, Mr. Secretary?
Bessent: Well, Kristen, it is America First because we are supporting a U.S. ally…and we want to set the tone in Latin America. Because look at what’s going on in Venezuela.

That’s a remarkably long stretch for Bessent to call a $40 billion bailout for the economic basket case, Argentina, an “America First” expenditure. There is no evident benefit for America, other than for the wealthy Americans, including Bessent, who have investments in the country. Even giving Bessent the benefit of a doubt, it would mean that similar bailouts for many other countries in Latin America would also be warranted. But Trump isn’t proposing any of that.

What’s more, there really are foreign interests whose welfare is actually critical to the national security of the United States. At the top of that list would be Ukraine, who is fighting for both their own sovereignty and the independence of every other European nation and NATO ally in the region. But Trump doesn’t seem to care about any of them.

Trump’s actual policies are anything but “America First.” His tariffs are burdensome taxes on the American people. His threats of aggression against everyone from Canada, to Greenland, to Panama, to Venezuela, are hardly beneficial to the U.S. His efforts to undermine healthcare will leave millions of Americans uninsured and at risk for serious illness or death. His cuts to federal programs that help America’s middle and lower income families are already causing great pain. His domestic military invasions of U.S. cities put fear into the hearts of migrants and citizens alike. And his suppression of the media that he calls “the enemy of the people” puts dangerous propaganda first.

How is any of that “America First”? How is it anything but Trump first? And how does it dispel the talk of his having authoritarian aspirations that only put him and his wealthy comrades first? Short answer: It doesn’t. Nor does it help Trump and his cronies who get so upset when people call them fascists. What else would you call them? Their own slogan hails from the same anti-American philosophy.
