Trump Hypes a New York Post Smear of a Democrat for Doing What Many More Republicans Are Doing

Trump’s polling seems to hit a new low every day. According to the latest Quinnipiac poll, his current approval rating is a dismal 37%. That’s consistent with other polls, most of which show him struggling to reach 40%. Consequently, Trump and his regime mouthpieces are going to extreme lengths to spin reality into something that doesn’t hurt his tender fee fees.

On Wednesday night, Trump himself sought to salve his wounded ego by posting a link on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to an article in Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post that smeared a Democratic congressman for trading stocks. The article is a month old, but that doesn’t matter when you’re trying to whip up some positive propaganda from thin air. The headline blared that “Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi beats Pelosi’s stock portfolio performance with 35% return.” It began…

“Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi led all Democrats with the best stock portfolio performance of 2025, beating even the She-Wolf of Wall Street, Nancy Pelosi, data obtained by The Post shows.” […] “Most of it came from his outsized position in tech giant NVIDIA — up 40% for the year.

The article noted that Suozzi “supports bipartisan legislation…to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks.” That’s legislation that many Republicans still are not getting behind. And Trump refuses to support it unless it exempts the executive branch – meaning him. All of the pending legislation is currently stalled in committee or awaiting floor votes that are not scheduled.

Near the bottom of the article, the Post finally noted that a Republican, Tim Moore, made even more money trading stocks (52%) than Suozzi, who ranks down at number five. What’s more, a chart included in the article shows that eight of the top ten congressional stock traders are Republicans. Which is not ever mentioned in the text of the article.

Nancy Pelosi’s 18% isn’t even among the top ten, despite having made it into the headline. Although notable Republicans like Ted Cruz (50%), and Lisa Murkowski (35%), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (33%), and Mitch McConnell (29%) are in the top ten. [Note: The Post doesn’t know what Murkowski looks like. They put a photo of Susan Collins on the Murkowski bar of the chart]

For some reason the Post decided to make this article all about the Democratic representative, and only added the Republicans as an afterthought. Even though the Republicans are far worse offenders as revealed on the Post’s own chart. And Trump latches onto it as a handy piece of anti-Democrat propaganda. Even if it’s a month later when he’s scrounging around for ways to smear his political foes and deflect from his own much more serious misconduct and outright crimes. Epstein files, anyone?

Before Donald Trump was even inaugurated for his second occupation of the White House, he disseminated deliberate deceptions about how he would resolve Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. During his campaign he promised that he would end the war with a single phone call to his pall Vladimir Putin on day one. That was 379 days ago.

Needless to say, the war is still raging on with Russia committing new war crimes virtually every day. Meanwhile, Trump and his Senior Apologists continue to deny that he has any responsibility for the ongoing massacres perpetrated by Putin, despite his absurd insistence that none of it would have happened were he in office when it started.

Trump’s absolution is being regurgitated again by his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt. She was asked about a recent claim by Trump that he spoke with Putin and asked him to suspend his bombing raids during the winter storms that have battered the region. Trump claimed that…

“I personally asked President Putin not to fire into Kyiv and the various towns for a week and he agreed to do that, and I have to tell you it was very nice.”

As usual, Trump’s account has a measure of believability that rests on how well known Putin is for being “very nice.” On Tuesday morning Leavitt was asked about this almost certainly imaginary conversation between Trump and Putin, and the fact that Putin continues his slaughter of innocent Ukrainians. She replied with an impressively straight face to the question…

Reporter: Trump said Putin agreed to halt attacking Ukraine because of the cold weather. But today we’ve seen Russia launching some of the heaviest attacks this month. What’s your reaction?
Leavitt: I spoke with the president about it this morning and his reaction was unfortunately unsurprised. These are two countries who have been engaged in a very brutal war for several years. A war that would have never started if the president were still in office. It started because of the weakness and incompetence of the previous President, Joe Biden.

Q: Trump said Putin agreed to halt attacking Ukraine bc of the cold, but today we're seen Russia launching heavy attacks. What's your reaction?LEAVITT: I spoke with the president and his reaction was unfortunately unsurprised. These are two countries that have been engaged in a very brutal war.

REALLY? Leavitt describes Trump as “unfortunately unsurprised.” In other words, Trump had accepted Putin’s promise to refrain from new attacks, and even complimented him for it. But afterward Leavitt says that he wasn’t surprised by Putin’s betrayal? Why would Trump brag about getting Putin’s agreement if he didn’t believe him in the first place?

Leavitt went on to parrot Trump’s frequent assertion that Putin would never have started the war if Trump were president at the time. But that is transparently preposterous. Trump’s claim that his presence alone would have prevented Russia from invading Ukraine implies that Putin would be either too afraid of Trump to take such aggressive action, or that Putin so admired Trump that his influence would be irresistible.

However, it’s clear now that neither of those scenarios have an iota of truth to them. If Putin won’t listen to Trump now when he’s asking him to halt bombing for the duration of the storm, it’s safe to assume that he wouldn’t have listened when he was first plotting to invade. What is unarguably obvious is that Trump has no leverage with Putin whatsoever.

Consequently, the efforts by Leavitt and Trump to blame Biden for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is misdirected. In reality it is the weakness and incompetence of Trump that allows this war to persist. Even after Trump issued direct threats to Putin giving him two weeks to agree to a cease fire – five months ago.

What’s more, the once MAGA faithful who are tenderly distancing themselves from Trump’s self-serving fantasies are doing it openly on Trump’s official televised Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. This emerging state of affairs is being driven by Trump’s horrendous agenda that includes deploying ICE thugs to attack American citizens, invading foreign countries, demolishing historic buildings, and even proposing tyrannical schemes to undermine democracy.

On Monday morning the longtime conservative political strategist, Karl Rove, was interviewed on Fox News in a segment about the economy. Host Shannon Bream introduced him by reading an excerpt from an op-ed allegedly written by Trump that was published this weekend in Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal. The portion that Bream read was a defense of his tariffs that was riddled with more of the lies that Trump has repeatedly told on this subject. When asked for his response, Rove said that…

“That piece in the Wall Street Journal is ‘the economy is great.’ That’s not what people feel. Last year we lost 70,000 manufacturing jobs. We lost 145,000 blue collar jobs…Blue-collar consumer confidence is at a record low since 1976 when they began asking the question.

“The top 20% of the American population is responsible for 75% of the GDP. The bottom 80% is responsible for the remaining 25% of the GDP. The lower income households are bearing a bigger burden of inflation because the things that they have to pay for, like rent and utilities, have risen higher.”

Rove is right. He is cogently explaining why the economy can appear to look decent by some metrics, but actually only works for the wealthy, but is terrible for most Americans. Furthermore, he is warning Trump and the Republican Party that failing to pay attention to how people are actually experiencing these difficulties is political suicide.

Unfortunately for Rove, he is barking up the wrong tree. Trump doesn’t know or care how people feel. He is dead set on telling them what they “should” feel. And in Trump’s mind they should feel that he is their lord and savior who is infallible and cannot be challenged, lest they be punished. In MAGA World, if Trump tells you that the economy is the best it’s ever been, then you are expected to nod obediently and acquiesce to the dictates of the cult, wherein only the leader will ever tell you the truth.

Trump is focused squarely on gaslighting the nation into believing that they are all as wildly prosperous as he is. And the truth is an irrelevant distraction that is being pushed by radical leftists. Even Trump’s choice of the Wall Street Journal as the vehicle for his propaganda is bizarre. He recently blasted it as “FAKE” news and “third rate,” when they published a verified story about his unsavory relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

“The Wall Street Journal printed a FAKE letter, supposedly to Epstein. These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures. I told Rupert Murdoch it was a Scam, that he shouldn’t print this Fake Story. But he did, and now I’m going to sue his ass off, and that of his third rate newspaper.”

Someone better be keeping track of all the lawsuits that Trump is filing, or threatening to file. There must be dozens of them aimed at journalists, lawyers, universities, celebrities, and politicians. You have to wonder where he finds the time to screw up the country so badly, and to make so many private deals to enrich himself.

Apparently the part of Trump’s brain that handles grift and corruption isn’t affected by his obviously worsening dementia. Which is getting so bad that he is openly proposing to rig elections by illegally taking them over and nationalizing them, which is prohibited by the Constitution. Not that Trump cares about that old rag.

Trump is having a full blown meltdown. He can't stand it when true patriots who cherish democracy oppose him. And he considers his StormTrumpers to be "Warriors" against fellow Americans.

Thank you! That is precisely what the citizens of Minneapolis – and many other cites and states – have been demanding. Why do you think they’ve been chanting “ICE OUT” wherever they encounter the masked oppressers?

“We will, however, guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings that are being attacked by these highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists.”
Oh? So you still intend to wreak havoc when you can on peaceful protesters that you malign as “paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists,” despite having no evidence of those accusations?

“There will be no rock or brick throwing at our vehicles, or at our Patriot Warriors. If there is, those people will suffer an equal, or more, consequence.”
Now you’re calling your StormTrumpers “Warriors” against fellow Americans who are merely exercising their constitutional rights. And you’re threatening consequences that are “equal” to “rock or brick throwing”? That isn’t law enforcement. That’s domestic terrorism.

Seriously? Now you want the people’s representatives to kneel down to you and beg for help. Should they say “Pretty please”? How about GFY?

“We will not allow our Courthouses, Federal Buildings, or anything else under our protection, to be damaged in any way, shape, or form.”
That’s funny. Because you not allowed it on January 6, 2021, but you pardoned more than 1,500 rioters who committed those crimes, many of whom pleaded to guilty to felonies including sedition.

This would be a good time for Trump to keep his word about staying of cities and states that don’t want or need his inciteful intervention. Unfortunately, he is unlikely to to restrain himself. He just can’t resist any opportunity to act out his tyrannical authoritarian aspirations. And at the same time, he can’t help being a petulant whiner. It’s something about himself that he has literally bragged about…

Trump posted these results from Harper Polling, a notoriously disreputable GOP pollster. The respondents to the survey were all Trump supporters. So the only thing that this poll proves is that Trump’s MAGA-tists are fully indoctrinated members of a cult who embrace totalitarianism and brutality. What other excuse could there be for embracing Trump and his fascist regime that has been murdering American citizens, deporting law abiding migrants, and viciously smearing and persecuting anyone who dares to protest his autocratic overreach?

For the record, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 8,512 U.S. adults (ten times more than the Harper poll), “Trump’s approval among Republicans is now 73%.” That’s quite a ways from the Harper finding of 92%. Overall, Trump’s approval is an abysmally low 37%. Only 42% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents said “they were confident that Trump acts ethically in office.”

Trump has been dismissive of most of the polling that has been conducted recently. He bitterly maligns it all as “fake News.” In another Truth Social comment Trump suggested that polling results that were negative for him were “a criminal offense,” raging that…

“Fake and Fraudulent Polling should be, virtually, a criminal offense. […] The Failing New York Times, ABC Fake News, NBC Fake News, CBS Fake News, Low Ratings CNN, or the now defunct MSDNC, Polls were all fraudulent, and bore nothing even close to the final results. Something has to be done about Fraudulent Polling. Even the Polls of FoxNews and The Wall Street Journal have been, over the years, terrible!”

Poor baby. It’s getting harder and harder to convince himself and his disciples that he is their blessed lord and savior. Trump maligns every legitimate poll as fake. He thinks that MS NOW (formally MSNBC) is defunct. And he can’t even trust his slobbering sycophants at Fox News and the Wall Street Journal. Consequently, he needs to have them all arrested, just like he did with Don Lemon.

This is not how a free democratic republic is run. It violates the protections granted in the First Amendment of the Constitution. Many of the MAGA Republicans who bother to discuss these affairs at all, end up trying to blame both sides while calling for the harsh rhetoric to be toned down. Never mind that most of that explosive diarhetoric is coming from the right, and worse, their actions exceed their words. In fact, in the war of words Trump is seeking to muzzle his opponents.

On Thursday morning Harris Faulkner, the host of “Outnumbered” on Fox News, was in the midst of a segment wherein they were defending the barbaric tactics employed by Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The conversation led to a comment by the House Democratic Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, to which Faulkner and her comrades took offense. She complained that…

“Hakeem Jeffries says ‘Kristi Noem needs to be on ICE.’ Now I know that’s ineloquent and unfortunate. It’s also just horrible timing. Because we know that means ‘take somebody out.'”

So Faulkner is reprising the rhetoric argument to criticize what Jeffries said. But she is pitifully misrepresenting the comment in order stir up more hatred and division.

First of all, Jeffries was obviously connecting his criticism of Trump’s desperately unqualified Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, to the horrific record of ICE with a linguistic association to actual ice. Faulkner knows this, but chooses to inflame the situation unnecessarily.

Furthermore, Faulkner is deliberately distorting the meaning of the colloquial phrase to put someone “on ice.” It does not mean to “take somebody out,” or kill them. It means to “put on hold, or to pause, to allow to cool down.” Which is precisely what Jeffries meant, and even what Faulkner claims to be advocating.

This is similar to the right-wing freak out that occurred last year when James Comey posted an image online of some seashells that spelled out “8647.” The MAGA-tists all babbled about it being an assassination threat. But the phrase is just a term that means “to refuse service, or to kick out of a public establishment.”

Nobody should be surprised at the rank hypocrisy of Fox News, Trump, and others on the right who have been pretending to care about the heated rhetoric. They have been maligning Democrats as traitors for years. And since the penalty for treason is execution, they have been, in effect, calling for them to be killed. Trump did so explicitly when he demanded that several members of Congress be put to death for simply reminding those in the military of their duty to refuse to obey unlawful orders.

All of this only provides further proof that the right is obsessed with killing Democrats and anyone who does not worship Herr Trump. And it’s why they still support how ICE has been killing protesters and brutalizing immigrants. For the rabid right, the celebration of death goes way beyond just words.

During his second occupation of the White House, Trump has exhibited behavior that justifies the concerns that many Americans – including health professionals – have had about his cognitive stability. It would explain his bizarre obsessions with invading foreign nations, and even American cities, with military troops. Likewise his compulsions to impose harmful, inflationary tariffs on most of the rest of the world. Likewise his egomaniacal renaming of historic institutions and monuments after himself.

Trump’s age could be a factor in another problem that Trump has been struggling with for several years. It’s a problem that he has frequently accused his predecessor, President Biden, of having. Trump was fond of maligning Biden as “Sleepy Joe.” But, as with many of Trump’s accusations, they are often confessions. Trump’s tendency to fall asleep in public meetings has been well documented. It has been the subject of both alarm and humor.

For the most part, Trump would try to wave off his nap time with lame excuses and denials. But now he has come out of closet and admitted that he really has a problem and that, subsequently, his prior denials were lies. Gee, who would’ve thunk it? As reported by The New Republic…

“After months of denials, President Trump has finally admitted that he has been falling asleep during Cabinet meetings.

“In an interview with New York magazine published Monday, Trump said that he closed his eyes during those meetings because they were ‘boring as hell.'”

“I’m going around a room, and I’ve got 28 guys—the last one was three and a half hours. I have to sit back and listen, and I move my hand so that people will know I’m listening. I’m hearing every word, and I can’t wait to get out.”

This revelation from Trump is more than just an acknowledgement that his prior excuses were lies. He is overtly admitting to his waning physical and mental capacities. Prior to this confession, Trump had dismissed the observations that he was nodding off during his Cabinet meetings as – what else? – “fake news.”

Trump would float various excuses for his dozing, including that he was just caught blinking, or that he was resting his eyes. Never mind that his snoozing was captured on video repeatedly. It was not a still photo in mid-blink. And he was often completely slumped down in his chair, which is not the way someone just resting their eyes would be sitting.

So Trump is still lying about his composure at these meetings. He surely was not “hearing every word.” But even this excuse was poorly thought out. Because it requires you to accept that he kept organizing these meetings, where his sycophantic cronies would take turns exalting him, but that he found them boring and couldn’t wait for them to end. Does anyone believe that? If true, why would he keep wasting everyone’s time repeatedly organizing these meetings? Especially his own?

The one truthful part of Trump’s admission is that listening to his MAGA-tist cronies lavish adorations on him was indeed boring. However, you can lay odds on his continuing to schedule these pointless meetings where he gathers his top staffers to praise him like an emotionally insecure ten year old boy-king. And to be sure, there will be nothing of substance produced by these bull(shit) sessions that consume valuable hours of Cabinet officials’ time. In fact, Trump and his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, regard Trump’s sleeping abnormalities as a virtue.

Of course, Trump will still complain about these boring affairs after he has slept through them, just as he is doing now. And he wonders why people are questioning his mental acuity, and talking about the 25th Amendment?

Trump Posts an Utterly INSANE, Lie-Riddled Rant to Justify His $400 Million Vanity Ballroom

It has been a non-stop barrage of the worst imaginable descent into the abyss of an egomaniacal madman’s determination to reign as a dictator.

Recent events in Minneapolis have exacerbated the sorry state of the union. The execution of Alex Pretti, an American citizen who was lawfully protesting the inhumane tactics of Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) thugs, has captured the attention of the country, most of whom are appalled and disgusted and determined to see that Trump’s criminal cohorts are brought to justice.

In addition to Pretti’s murder, the second one by ICE agents in Minneapolis, the American people have had to endure a steady stream of Trumpian bullshittery such as his attack on Venezuela, his efforts to annex Greenland, his imposition of punitive tariffs on U.S. allies, skyrocketing prices on everything from groceries to housing to health insurance premiums, lawsuits and regulatory assaults on the free press, and too much more to enumerate.

While all of this is going on, Trump has seen fit to focus his congenitally shrunken attention span on one of the issues that he thinks matters most to the population at large: His $400 million dollar vanity ballroom that he’s building to replace the historic East Wing of the White House that he illegally demolished. And in support of that gilded hall of elitism, Trump posted an insufferably long-winded comment on his pitifully failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. It’s way to long to repost in its entirety, but can be seen in this Bluesky skeet for those with the stomach for it.

However, there are some choice excerpts that are worth revealing in order to preserve the sheer asininity of Trump’s thinking. He began by actually making an apt observation about his ballroom obsession, saying that he is pursuing it “on top of everything else that I am doing.” Which isn’t something a sane person would brag about. Then he continued…

“I’m building, on top of everything else that I am doing, one of the greatest and most beautiful Ballrooms anywhere in the World, with more than 300 Million Dollars of Great American Patriots’ money…This is a GIFT.”
Why Trump thinks that the White House needs the world’s greatest ballroom is pure lunacy. And it is not a “gift” just because it’s being paid for by his billionaire buddies. That would more accurately be called a bribe. Also, last October Trump claimed that he was also paying for the ballroom himself. But as usual, there is zero evidence of that.

Trump called it “a desperately needed space, sought for over 150 years…for big and important STATE EVENTS, Dinners, Meetings, Conferences.”
It can hardly be described as “desperately needed” if we survived without it for 250 years. And for all of that time we have never lacked any place to host state events.

Then Trump whines that “I got sued, this time by the Radical Left National (No!)Trust for Historic Preservation, a group that couldn’t care less about our Country!”
That’s right. Trump is being tormented by those well known radical subversives at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

And Trump lies that “Congress never tried, or wanted, to stop the Ballroom Project!”
In reality, many Democratic members of Congress did try to stop Trump’s ballroom, But they have been in the minority and Republicans refused to go along. What’s more, the National Trust for Historic Preservation that is suing Trump is actually a congressionally chartered agency.

Trump falsely asserts that the “White House [is] a place that a President has never needed permission to change or enhance.”
That is diametrically opposite of the truth.

Trump makes the preposterous claim that “it is being done with the design, consent, and approval of the highest levels of the United States Military and Secret Service.”
So what? Those agencies have absolutely no authority over any of this.

The reason that Trump is lashing out about this now has to do with recent developments with the lawsuit that he mentioned. It is not going well for him in court. As reported by Newsweek…

“U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, appointed by former Republican President George W. Bush, raised doubts during a hearing on whether President Donald Trump can proceed with tearing down the historic East Wing and replacing it with a massive new structure on federal land. The hearing stems from a lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.”

Trump’s single-minded persistence on erecting this expensive and useless monument is more proof that his mental capacities are failing. And his online rant only makes that more obvious. It would be hilarious of this were the plot of a sitcom. But in the real world it’s pathetic, and potentially dangerous

Although there may be a hidden benefit. If we could keep Trump focused on nonsense like this, he might have less time to do so much of the damage that he has been doing to America and the world. So keep fighting those radicals at the Preservation Trust. And keep hosting award shows at the Kennedy Center. And while you’re at it, maybe spend a little time in Venezuela where you declared yourself acting president. Perhaps they could use a ballroom.

REALLY? Let’s just set aside Trump’s ridiculous characterization of environmental scientists, activists, and concerned citizens, as “Environmental Insurrectionists,” suggesting that they have violent intentions to overthrow the government. He’s calling everyone that he disagrees with “insurrectionists” these days. He learned a new word, so he’s repeating it uncontrollably and without regard to coherent context.. Which is a symptom of cognitive impairment.

What’s worse is that Trump is proudly admitting that he has no idea what Climate Change is. So he’s asking, sarcastically, for those with knowledge to explain it to him. But this isn’t the first time he has exhibited this ignorance. Trump still doesn’t know the difference between climate and weather.

For Trump’s benefit, the simplest explanation of “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING” is that it remains a dire threat to the planet. It does not mean that everywhere, at all times, it is getting warmer. It means that the climate of the whole Earth is getting warmer on average. That can cause some places to actually get colder. Warming oceans can alter the jet stream and push cold weather fronts farther south than normal. Which is what is happening now.

Trump won’t bother to acknowledge these simple facts, even if he understood them. And he surely won’t look any deeper for more complex explanations. But his purposeful bone-headedness doesn’t invalidate reality. And virtually every credible expert agrees that Climate Change is occurring and rapidly progressing. 2025 was one of the hottest years on record.

Trump will never acknowledge the truth about Climate Change, that he calls a hoax perpetrated by China. What Trump will do is to continue lie about it and suppress clean energy resources (wind, solar, etc.) that can mitigate the problem. And he will also continue to post asinine comments that misinform his cult devotees and embrace blithering idiocy as a virtue.

By doing so Trump caters to the needs of the big polluting corporations who will show their gratitude with generous donations, aka bribes. Because that’s who he cares about. Not you. And not any of the people who will be hurt in the coming storm(s).

Donald Trump and Media - ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, FOX

Trump is now instructing his Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to alter the long-standing rules regarding “Equal Time” in order to put an end to the criticism he receives from television talk show hosts and their guests. It’s just the latest tactic that he has deployed to control what the American people are allowed to see and hear on television and other media.

Trump’s new attempt to muzzle the media is an order to his FCC chairman and chief censorship czar, Brendan Carr, to alter the way the FCC regulates “Equal Time” rules. For decades there have been exceptions for bona fide newsworthy interviews, whether they take place on a news program or an entertainment related talk show. But since Trump has been the subject of so much well deserved criticism, he is seeking to stifle his critics any way that he can. According to the Hollywood Reporter…

“The FCC said Wednesday that it is clarifying its guidance on its political equal time rules, a change that could end long-standing exemptions for interviews with politicians on shows like The View, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show and The Late Show.” […]

“News interviews have long been exempted from the requirement, but the FCC under Carr is pursuing a novel argument that late night and daytime talk shows are biased to the extent that they shouldn’t qualify. Among the factors in considering the carve-out is newsworthiness.” […]

“In a statement, Anna Gomez, the lone Democrat on the FCC, said the move represents an ‘escalation in this FCC’s ongoing campaign to censor and control speech.’ She added, ‘Broadcasters should not feel pressured to water down, sanitize, or avoid critical coverage out of fear of regulatory retaliation.'”

It is no coincidence that Trump’s actions are aimed at programs such as “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Trump has been determined to shut those programs down due to their frequent jokes and satirical humor about him. Trump has never been able to take a joke. His efforts have resulted in Colbert’s program being canceled (effective in May), and he got Kimmel suspended, but for only three days when outraged viewers complained to the network.

After the FCC made its announcement regarding “Equal Time,” Trump posted a link to this story on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. His link contained a comment that specifically referenced the ABC daytime talk show “The View” and Kimmel’s late-night talk show.

This is just another threat to First Amendment protected speech. The changes that are being floated by Trump’s FCC would make it virtually impossible for programs like Kimmel’s to ever book a political guest, or even an entertainer who has political opinions. There would be no practical way for them to also book anyone with a different opinion. And, of course, it would impinge on their free speech rights to produce programs free of government intervention.

It’s extraordinarily hypocritical that Trump and his MAGA GOP are suddenly in favor of government asserting this sort of control when they have long advocated for small government that kept out of matters such as these. Now they are craving more government interference than ever. And they are cheering Trump on when wields the power of his office to suppress anyone who is insufficiently worshipful of him. Such as his many lawsuits against the media, including a new threat unleashed Thursday morning against pollsters who had the audacity to publish surveys showing how despised Trump is…

Trump won’t be happy until he has banished every one of his critics from all media. He’s following the playbook of his heroes and mentors, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. But he isn’t going to get away with it. In America we have the Constitution on our side. And as long as the millions of patriots who cherish freedom stay strong and rise up to quash Trump and his censorious comrades, he will fail again and again and again.
