UH-OH! Fox News Op-Ed Tells the Truth About Trump’s Awful Economy and Broken Promises (AKA Lies)

For the past six months much of the mainstream media has demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for indifference to the glaring severity of Donald Trump’s cognitive deficiencies. While he embarks on daily excursions into rambling incoherence, spine-chilling ignorance, and unabashed lies, the press has largely failed to adequately report the measure of his mental decline.

As a result, we see Trump repeatedly bragging that he has cut drug prices by 1,500% (which is mathematically impossible), that his taxes/tariffs have brought in hundreds of billions of dollars (that are paid by American consumers), that he has personally ended half a dozen wars (in his cartoon brain), and weighing in on the most important issues of the day, such as Stephen Colbert being canceled and Sydney Sweeney’s jeans…

All of this makes it somewhat surprise that a less than flattering editorial was published by Fox News Friday morning. The article featured the headline: “Trump Breaks ‘Day One’ Promise to Lower Costs as Prices Surge Across America in First Six Months” While that isn’t exactly breaking news to anyone who has been paying attention, it is outside of the political lanes that Fox News generally straddles. The article began…

“The defining promise of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign was lower costs on ‘Day One.’ He broke it. The first six months of this administration have been marked by ever-higher prices. […]

“The campaign trail promises sounded too good to be true, because they were. Trump committed to ‘end’ inflation, cut energy costs ‘in half,’ make health care more affordable, and that Americans would see ‘drastic price reductions’ and cheaper groceries.”

None of those promises were fulfilled. Although Trump claimed credit for succeeding on all counts, without ever providing a shred of evidence to support his claims. In fact, when data was revealed that proved how badly he has performed, he fired the those responsible for providing the data, and ordered a his regime to take over the data gathering agencies and reshape them to his liking.

It’s notable that this Fox News editorial, authored jointly by a former Bush aide and a former Biden aide, appeared only on the Fox website. It has not been reported on their cable network. To the contrary, the network’s reliably Trump-fluffing sycophants have obediently spewed the dishonest propaganda prepared for them by the White House. Nevertheless, expect Trump to freak out and call Fox “fake news.”

For his part, Trump was hard at work at his usual post – dropping ludicrous comments on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. in an excerpt from a tediously long tirade about tariffs and court rulings, he raged that…

“If a Radical Left Court ruled against us at this late date, in an attempt to bring down or disturb the largest amount of money, wealth creation and influence the U.S.A. has ever seen, it would be impossible to ever recover, or pay back, these massive sums of money and honor. It would be 1929 all over again, a GREAT DEPRESSION!”

To reiterate, the “massive sums of money” that he’s ranting about are paid by American consumers. And his efforts to instill fear of a 1929 style “GREAT DEPRESSION” are the typical tactics of aspiring authoritarians to frighten the masses into submission. In reality, the tariffs are inflationary and need to be withdrawn. And the courts are merely being asked to uphold the Constitution that stipulates that only Congress can impose tariffs.

It would be helpful if Fox News would expose their viewers to the facts revealed in the editorial. But don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen. More broadly, it would be helpful for the media to report on Trump’s mental health, or lack thereof. They seemed obsessed with covering President Biden’s age-related imperfections, but they are brazenly ignoring the far worse maladies of Trump whose madness is undeniable, and who is currently in a position to do much greater harm.

WTF are they waiting for? Trump to start a nuclear war? Because he has already talked about it. And in the meantime, he’s conspiring to amass tyrannical power, incarcerate opponents, take over city and state governments, rig elections, and shut down the free press. The threat is real and is bearing down upon us now. There is literally no time to waste.

Newsmax Host is ‘Impressed’ By Trump for Standing by ‘Innocent’ Pedophile Ghislaine Maxwell

The lengths that MAGA media will go to exalt Donald Trump seem to be stretching ever further into the stratosphere of slobbering sycophancy. When Trump said that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any support, many people thought it was a gross exaggeration for effect. It turns out he was understating the degree of worshipfulness that Trump’s cult followers are capable of.

The continuing saga of Jeffrey Epstein and his unsavory relationship with Trump is proving to be revealing on many levels. It is showcasing Trump’s affinity for pedophiles, as well as his own perverse lechery. It is putting on display how brazenly he will lie and suppress any information that might expose his grotesque behavior. And it is giving the Trump-fluffing press endless opportunities to suck up to him while burying any potentially incriminating facts. Even so, he is not doing himself any favors.

Among the Trumpiest media venues is Newsmax, where its prime host, Greg Kelly, holds court every night to lavish praise on Dear Leader. And his fierce defense for Trump during the Epstein scandal is second-to-none for unabashed adoration. On Friday night’s program, Kelly addressed Trump’s tender feelings toward Epstein partner, and convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, to whom he had sent his “best wishes” when she was arrested.

More recently Trump was questioned about his Justice Department sending his former personal attorney, now Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, to interview Maxwell in prison. The inquiries included whether he would grant Maxwell a pardon. Instead of the rational and decent response – an unqualified “Hell no!” – Trump replied “Well, I’m allowed to give her a pardon.” It was revealed shortly thereafter that the Trump regime had Maxwell transferred from the federal prison in Florida to a cushy, minimum security facility in Texas.

In the midst of these events Newsmax’s Kelly delivered a monologue that should produce a severe state of nausea in principled people. After this aberrent episode, the network might want to consider renaming itself “NewsMaxwell.” Kelly gushed…

“Oh boy. There he is again. Jeffrey Epstein…He pled guilty to that horrible, sick stuff. But that doesn’t mean that Ghislaine Maxwell is guilty. And there is a hell of a lot of evidence out there that she’s innocent. And a hell of a lot of evidence that they railroaded her. Part of a “deep state,” hysterical media plot. And I don’t like it. And I don’t care if it’s unpopular. In fact, I’m really kind of impressed with Trump right now, that he won’t be boxed in when it comes to this story.”

It’s true that Epstein’s crimes don’t mean that Maxwell is guilty. What makes Maxwell guilty is that she was convicted unanimously by a jury after considering the evidence and applying the law. Kelly’s assertion that there is “a lot of evidence out there that she is innocent” is pure garbage. And notably, he didn’t bother to cite any of that allegedly abundant evidence.

However, what really makes Kelly’s rant abhorrent is how he connects it to Trump. Kelly is “impressed” that Trump refuses to “be boxed in” simply because Maxwell was convicted on the strength of convincing documentary evidence and witness testimony against her. What courage Trump is showing in Kelly’s glassy-eyed view.

Much of the MAGA media shares Kelly’s perverse perspective. But they aren’t particularly confident about it. They are so afraid trying to support their position that have virtually banished most reporting about Maxwell and Epstein. For instance, this week Fox News spent only about 18 minutes reporting on Epstein, but 181 minutes on a Sydney Sweeney jeans advertisement.

Between Monday and Thursday, Fox News mentioned Sydney Sweeney 181 times, and Jeffrey Epstein 18 times.

Meanwhile, Trump is busy making matters worse for himself. On another Newsmax program the same day, Trump was interviewed by Rob Finnerty. During that segment Trump described how much he lusts after his Propaganda Secretary, Karolina Leavitt. Trump Congratulates OAN for Getting ‘Millions of New Viewers’ That They Didn’t Actually Get

People often forget that Donald Trump was in the television business for many years. In fact, that was likely his primary source of income, since his real estate ventures were failures, including four casinos that went bankrupt. Think about it… No real “billionaire” would have the time or inclination to host a reality TV game show for fourteen seasons unless he needed the money.

Ordinarily, someone with that sort of experience in the TV business would learn something about it. But there is nothing ordinary about Trump. His inability to process and retain information is exhibited on a daily basis in his bizarre and incoherent ramblings on subjects having to do with his current grift: the presidency of the United States. What he has learned about that business would fit onto a used gum wrapper.

FOR INSTANCE: Trump Unloads Dozens of Deranged Comments in a Morning Rage that Confirms His Mental Infirmity

On Thursday morning Trump let his cult followers on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, know just how ignorant he is about his prior profession. He posted a comment about the growing prospects of the One America News Network saying that…

“OAN is making a huge comeback, with millions of new viewers. Congratulations to OAN and all of those who worked so hard to get you there!”

Notice that Trump doesn’t bother to cite any source for that congratulatory statement. Like most of what he says, it is either misinterpreted, grossly exaggerated, or utterly false. Pathological liars don’t need facts to support their fabrications. And if they have devoted disciples like the MAGA minions, it hardly matters. They will believe whatever he tells them to believe.

What Trump is likely referring to is that Spectrum recently added OAN to its channel lineup, making it available to millions of Spectrum subscribers. That doesn’t mean that any of them actually watched it. It’s like a restaurant adding a shit sandwich to the menu. That doesn’t mean anyone is going to order one.

Nielsen doesn’t track OAN’s audience because it is too small to register. They did briefly in 2019 and found an average of only about 14,000 viewers. Since then OAN lost distribution on major cable networks such as Verizon Fios and DirecTV. So it’s difficult to suggest that their viewership has increased since then.

Nevertheless, this is what Trump regards as a “huge comeback” worthy of a glowing, public congratulation. But no matter what Trump says, he still can’t manage to get his flock to abandon Fox News. Not that he hasn’t tried…

Trump didn’t mention another source of potential new viewers for OAN: The Voice of America. In May, Kari Lake, who is currently serving as Trump’s special advisor to the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), announced a partnership with OAN to provide newsfeed services to USAGM networks, including the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB), Radio Martí, and Voice of America (VOA).

The usurpation of these networks by Trump’s propaganda regime completely destroys their intended purpose to broadcast honest and reliable news into countries where it is otherwise prohibited. And delivering OAN’s notoriously untrustworthy programming to the world can only result in humiliation for the U.S. The network has been – and is being – sued for its false reporting. However, in an ironic twist, Trump has also presided over the defunding of the USAGM and directed his team to put their staffs on leave. So there may be no one to implement the OAN broadcasts.

What’s more, Trump’s efforts to dismantle the USAGM are being challenged in court where the funds allocated by Congress, and the original staff of real journalists, could be reinstated. In the meantime, Trump can be expected to continue disseminating lies and decreeing mandates that weaken the free press. But the only new viewers that OAN will gain in any of this will be in Trump’s fertile imagination.

Trump’s FCC Chair Says that CBS News Will Have to Employ a ‘Bias Monitor’ to Police Their Reporting

FCC chair, Brendan Carr, has been making the media rounds this week to rollout the Trump agenda to clampdown on any journalistic enterprise that thinks it has the freedom to criticize Dear Leader Trump or his MAGA movement. Last week Carr bragged to Fox News that Trump had defunded PBS and NPR. And he told them that Trump was responsible for the cancelation of “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” because Trump is “not gonna play by the rules of politicians in the past and let these legacy outfits dictate the narrative and the terms of the debate.” Of course not. Dictating the narrative is a privilege reserved for Trump and his confederates.

Not satisfied with those assaults on the free press, Carr also visited with Newsmax to announce a unique provision that was snuck into the FCC’s approval of the merger between Paramount (the owner of CBS) and Skydance Media. Carr sat for a friendly chat with Newsmax host Greg Kelly that included the following exchange…

Kelly: We heard a little about what they’re gonna have to do on 60 Minutes. Is there anything beyond that you can tell us about what they’re gonna do differently, fact-based? You know, that’s kind of a cultural shock to them.
Carr: Yeah, it might be news to some folks over there. One of the things they’re going to have to do is put an ombudsman in place for two years. So basically a “bias monitor” that will report directly to the president. So that’s something that’s significant that we’re going to see happening as well to broadcasters.”

HOLY CRAP! This is unprecedented. Carr is revealing that the government is exerting its full force to demand that a news network hire a censorship czar to police the content of CBS’s reporting, as well as that of other broadcasters. But not to worry, we can rest assured that he will execute his role as Bias Judge with the utmost neutrality, right? And he will also mandate bias monitors for Newsmax and Fox News, right? RIGHT?

Carr’s remarks on Newsmax were not clear, but Talking Points Memo reviewed the text of the agreement which they report refers to the president of Paramount]

This brazenly autocratic conduct is not new for the Trump regime, or for Carr specifically. He recently told CNBC that “the media industry across this country needs a course correction.” And he believes that it is the proper role of government to impose that correction and determine the course. It’s a political philosophy that he and Trump acquired from their heroes, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.

The goal of these initiatives is to reshape the media into a Trump-fluffing platform of pure propaganda. If they get their way, all voices of dissent will be muzzled, and those who engage in it will be sent to gulags in El Salvador, or worse. Some in the media have already capitulated to Trump. Which makes it all the more imperative that every American speaks out and supports independent media and free speech. If we don’t do it now, we may not be able to do it at all.

UPDATE: Trump has weighed in on this with an inane comment posted on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social calling for the licenses of news networks to be revoked if he thinks they are too nice to Democrats and/or too mean to him…

Pentagon IG: Pete Hegseth Disclosed Classified Info During His Signal Chat – Fox News Buries It

The fate of the Defense Secretary that Donald Trump plucked from Fox News is becoming more untenable with every day that he is tainting that noble office. Pete Hegseth was never qualified to run a toy soldier parade, much less the largest bureaucracy in the United States government. And particularly one that bears such consequential burdens for national security.

Shortly after Hegseth was confirmed by a Republican Senate that is blindly compliant to Dear Leader Trump, Hegseth was caught engaging in a dialog with his defense and intelligence comrades using the Signal app, a commercial chat program that was not capable of maintaining secure communications. The chat included the Vice-President, JD Vance, the Director of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, the National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, and others. During that meeting Hegseth revealed the specific plans for a military attack on Houthi terrorists in Yemen.

Hegseth vehemently denied that any classified information was disclosed during the chat. And Trump dismissed the whole affair by pretending that he was blissfully ignorant (which is believable) saying that, “I know nothing about it. […] You’re telling me about it for the first time.”

However, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Hegseth, Trump, and everyone else involved have been lying. It is now being reported that the Pentagon Inspector General confirmed that the plans Hegseth blabbed came from a classified email that was, in fact, labeled “SECRET!” This alarming breach of security was even reported by Fox News…

“Multiple officials tell Fox News the Pentagon’s inspector general has received evidence that the U.S. military strike plans shared by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over Signal derived from a classified email labeled ‘SECRET/NOFORN,’ which stands for no foreign nationals should see it. That was first reported by The Washington Post. Fox is also told the inspector general received the classified email with markings early in its investigation, which began in April.

“Secretary Hegseth’s team is responding. Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell says in a statement to Fox, in part, ‘The Department stands behind its previous statements: no classified information was shared via Signal.'”

Fox News has **confirmed** reports from other outlets that the Pentagon’s watchdog has learned information in his Signal texts came from a classified email.This 40-second headline read is the entirety of the network's coverage of the story.

So this dangerous misconduct by Hegseth was confirmed by the Inspector General of the Defense Department that he supposedly runs. And this revelation also confirms that Hegseth and his cohorts lied about it when originally asked to respond. All of that would be sufficient result in his resignation or termination under normal circumstances. Needless to say, normality is not something that is associated with the Trump administration.

What’s more, while it is notable that Fox News actually reported this scandal, no one should give them any credit for it. Because the brief mention above is the only one to date that Fox News has aired. Even though Trump’s Cabinet members, including Hegseth, are on Fox News more often than ads for Ozempic, none of them been asked to comment on this.

There are a lot of stories in this news cycle about Trump, including those about his relationship with child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein; his “Big Ugly Billionaire’s Budget Act” (BUBBA), that will throw millions of Americans off of their health insurance plans, fund ICE as the nation’s largest law enforcement agency, and explode the National debt; his recessionary, tariff-drive economic agenda; and his weaponization of the Justice Department that has accused President Obama of treason.

But no story exposes the potential for greater harm than the betrayal of America’s military and intelligence operations around the world. And if Hegseth (and Vance, Gabbard, Ratcliff, and Waltz) survives this ghastly behavior, than there is literally nothing that can be excluded from the atrocities that Trump might engage in.

The Propaganda and Deflection Office of Donald Trump’s White House is working overtime trying to draw attention away from Trump’s salacious relationship with convicted pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. To that end Trump has been furiously fomenting alternative “scandals” with which to occupy the minds of his cult followers and the compliant media.

Among the shiny objects that Trump is dangling before the gullible are his utterly meritless lawsuit against his buddy Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal, his attacks on Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, his pretending that he forced Coke to change their ingredients, and his unbridled ecstasy from the firing of comedy legend Stephen Colbert.

Much to Trump’s dismay, none of those valiant attempts at misdirection succeeded in diverting the public from the infinitely more compelling saga of Trump and Epstein. Especially since he keeps juicing the story with more obvious lies that only make him look more afraid and guilty.

Consequently, Trump is floating yet another diversion in order to take the heat off of his potentially criminal lechery. He has ordered his Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, to launch a set of dubious allegations aimed at former President Barack Obama regarding the factual history of Trump’s unsavory association with Russia. And Gabbard was the perfect choice to field queries about Trump’s Russia ties, considering her own long held sympathies for Russia and Kremlin propaganda.

Ever obedient, Gabbard called her comrades at Fox News to unload a steaming pile of political manure. Whereupon, Fox News reported that…

“The Obama administration ‘manufactured and politicized intelligence’ to create the narrative that Russia was attempting to influence the 2016 presidential election, despite information from the intelligence community stating otherwise, Fox News Digital has learned.

“On Friday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents revealing ‘overwhelming evidence’ that demonstrates how, after President Donald Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, then-President Barack Obama and his national security team laid the groundwork for what would be the years-long Trump–Russia collusion probe.”

Naturally, the story on Fox News, based solely on Gabbard’s “evidence” is flagrantly fictional. They went on to quote Gabbard, or her agents, alleging that President Obama had his Intelligence aides alter their reports regarding how Russia tried to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. According to Fox, Gabbard noted the following from Obama’s Intel…

“‘We assess that Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure,’ the Presidential Daily Brief stated.”

From that statement, Gabbard and Fox News attached an analysis concluding that Obama ordered the Intel Community to falsify their reports, asserting that Russia never actually interfered with the election at all. It was all, as Trump would say, a “HOAX!” But for some reason, Trump never bothered to reveal this hoax during his first four year occupation of the white House, or during his reelection campaign against President Biden that he lost.

Furthermore, what Gabbard is alleging is not what the documents she provided actually say. They only say that Russia was not successful in trying to alter the outcome of the election – they “did not impact recent US election results” – not that they didn’t try to do so. And on the basis of those misrepresentations, both Gabbard and Fox News lied that after “investigating the matter for months…”

“…their conclusions ‘clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016.’ And that ‘every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted.’

However, there was no such conspiracy shown, treasonous or otherwise, in Gabbard’s documents. Nevertheless, Gabbard is accusing Obama of a capital crime that would result in his execution if found guilty. And she is including several other Obama administration officials in that accusation, including DNI James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Secretary of State John Kerry, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. If they get their way, Trump’s Death Row in his political gulag is gonna be crowded.

Fox News amplified these abhorrent allegations with segments on multiple programs including Sean Hannity and Fox and Friends. The segment that aired on the Jesse Watters program is typical of the dishonesty that they are disseminating. Watters said that…

“We just got a peek inside Obama’s black book and it turns out Barack knew the Russia hoax was a hoax all along but pushed it anyway to sabotage the Trump presidency. DNI Tulsi Gabbard declassifying pages and pages of documents showing Obama’s intel guys briefed him just weeks after the 2016 election that the Russians didn’t actually sway the election [and that Obama] instructed intel agencies to cook up new reports to support Russia collusion.”

Once again, the actual reports said plainly that Russia did try to interfere with the election, not that they succeeded in changing the outcome. And despite her hyperbolic ranting, that’s what Gabbard’s declassified documents said as well. The spin by Gabbard and Fox News – that factual assertions of Russian interference were a hoax, and that Obama had the reports altered – is downright bizarre and grossly defamatory.

That view was shared by by the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee that investigated all of this five years ago. The acting chairman of that committee was Marco Rubio, who is now Trump’s Secretary of State. The bipartisan Committee report said that…

“…the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multifaceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. […] The fifth and final volume focuses on the counterintelligence threat, outlining a wide range of Russian efforts to influence the Trump Campaign and the 2016 election.” […]

“Moscow’s intent was to harm the Clinton Campaign, tarnish an expected Clinton presidential administration, help the Trump Campaign after Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee, and undermine the U.S. democratic process.”

These new allegations are another example of Trump weaponizing the Intelligence agencies over which he presides. Which he is also doing with his Justice, Homeland Security, Treasury, State, and other administration Departments. But it’s even worse than that. He is openly advocating for the execution of his political foes. His remarks on these matters was to say that “I think they’re crooked as hell. And, maybe they have to pay a price for that. I believe they are truly bad people and dishonest people. So, whatever happens, happens.”

If that doesn’t convince his supporters that he is a sociopathic fascist and aspiring authoritarian, in the mold of his heroes Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, nothing will. But for the rest of the American people, this new scandal/deflection makes it all the more imperative to remove Trump from office before he can do more damage.

UPDATE: Trump and his MAGA cronies are pulling out all the stops to promote this phony conspiracy. He posted a frantic blast of ten new comments about it on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, including one citing it as “treasonous.” They consist mostly of links to Fox News and Breitbart, and this poster created by Gabbard’s crew that is nothing but wild innuendos leading to inane conclusions…

Fox News Trump-Fluffer Says that Rising Inflation is ‘Another Victory for President Trump’

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has just released its latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for the month of June. And consistent with the expectations of economic forecasters, it reveals that inflation in the U.S. has increased again under the profoundly incompetent stewardship of Donald Trump.

Trump has only been in office for about six months. But in that short span of time he has succeeded in reversing the growth and stability that President Biden brought to the nation’s economy following the debacle that he inherited from Trump’s first occupation of the White House. Trump’s agenda rests heavily on recessionary initiatives such as his ill-considered tariffs, and his wildly unpopular “Big Ugly Bailout for Billionaires Act” (BUBBA). All of the harm from which he manages to blame on Democrats.

The CPI numbers for June showed that inflation is on the rise. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. The impact of the Trump tariffs (aka taxes) alone would insure a worsening inflation situation. and the tariffs haven’t even gone fully into effect yet. Nevertheless, as reported by CBS News, the damage is already being felt by the American people…

“The CPI was forecast to rise 2.7% last month, higher than last month’s rate of 2.4%, according to economists polled by financial data firm FactSet. June’s reading is the highest since February, when the CPI rose 2.8% on an annual basis.” […]

“Food prices rose 3% on an annual basis last month, higher than the overall inflation rate. Items that have seen big cost increases since last June include eggs, which are up 27.3%, roasted coffee, which is up over 12.7%, and ground beef, which is up 10.3%. Meanwhile, energy was a large source of inflation, with energy prices rising 0.9% on a month-over-month basis.”

While the cost of living is going up for American consumers, Trump is gaslighting them by insisting that just the opposite is true. They are not buying it – in more ways than one. Trump has been repeatedly lying that prices for everything from eggs to gas are at record lows. And he is getting support for those lies from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, had a ludicrous take on the CPI numbers just released, saying that…

“You’ve got to look at this report as another victory for President Trump, who has focused on reining in inflation — and that’s what we’re seeing from this report again.”

No, actually, you do not have to look at it that way. And as noted above, that’s not what we’re seeing in the report. It is, however, what Fox News and Trump want you to think that you see. And to that end, Trump posted a link to that Bartiromo comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social.

Among those who have pointed out the dishonesty of how Trump and Fox News distort the economic data from their own agencies, is – checks notes – Maria Bartiromo? Yep. In April she reported that Trump’s tariffs will fuel higher prices and recession, saying that…

“It is going to have an effect on Main Street. Some things will become higher priced. We will see some products actually be raised in price because companies will pass on the cost of tariffs to consumers. I would expect that.”

Is that also “another victory for President Trump”? Perhaps in his diseased mind it is. If nothing else, what Trump falsely believes is a “PERFECT” economy warrants the termination of Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve. Following the CPI release, Trump posted a comment aimed at Powell that said “Consumer Prices LOW. Bring down the Fed Rate, NOW!!!” He has previously posted some infantile insults of Powell in an effort to coerce him to resign. For instance, he said that…

“‘Too Late’ Jerome Powell is costing our Country Hundreds of Billions of Dollars. He is truly one of the dumbest, and most destructive, people in Government.”

This would be a good time to remember that Powell was appointed to Chair the Fed Board by – checks notes again – Donald Trump! Now, like so many other Trump appointees, he regards his own people as “dumb” and “incompetent,” and even “treasonous.” And why wouldn’t they be? Those are all characteristics that apply perfectly to Trump.

In a Fox News Propaganda Coup, Lara Trump Interviews Papa Trump and Never Mentions Epstein

The intertwining of Trump’s administration with Fox News is impossible to ignore. He has recruited at least 21 Fox hosts or contributors to serve in his White House staff and Cabinet, including his secretaries of defense (Pete Hegseth) and transportation (Sean Duffy). And because the revolving door swings both ways, numerous Trump associates have taken positions at Fox News, including his former press secretary (Kayleigh McEnany), his former White House Counselor (Kellyanne Conway), and several MAGA Congress members.

On Saturday Fox News host and First Daughter-in-Law, Lara Trump, interviewed her own father-in-lawlessness, Donald Trump. Remember, this is on a network that has the audacity to include the word “news” in its name. But anyone who expected any actual news to emanate from this interview is terminally naïve.

Among the journalistic atrocities that occurred in this episode was one wherein Lara asked what may be the easiest political question ever contrived. And true to form, Trump flubbed the answer…

LARA: What is your message to the people that are suffering, to the parents of the young girls that were killed?
TRUMP: They were warned the day before, 2 days before.

When asked the softball question of the century by his daughter-in-law on Fox News, this mofo BLAMES THE VICTIMS!?!LARA: What is your message to the people that are suffering, to the parents of the young girls that were killed?TRUMP: They were warned the day before, 2 days before.

That’s right! When asked to simply give his message to the grieving families who suffered through the Texas floods, Trump blamed the victims for not heeding the warnings. The warnings that, by the way, were never properly delivered due to Trump’s decimating of the National Weather Service.

The rest of the interview was just as bad. For instance, Lara asked Trump another probing inquiry about his legacy. Trump replied predictably by both glorifying himself and insulting his political foes, saying that he wants to be remembered as…

“A good person, but a person that saved our country. I really believed our country was going down for the fall. I don’t know if it ever could’ve come back. It was very close to the edge”

Trump continued by citing praise from “A lot of people [who] thought my first term was phenomenal. I did.” Then Trump praised himself with a preposterous distortion of reality concerning his Cabinet that is currently at each others throats, saying that “We have really good people this time, and they get along with each other. They love each other.”

REALLY? LOVE? The battle ensuing between Trump Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and his FBI heads, Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, is burning up the current news cycle as they clash on why the infamous Jeffrey Epstein client lists haven’t been release as promised. So it’s interesting that it never came up in Lara’s interview of the one person who could release those files now.

Nevertheless, that internecine war is playing out on Trump’s failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, in a comment by Trump that is profoundly deranged. What follows are a few annotated excerpts…

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration”
Trump is whining about his own supporters who are outraged by his cover up of the Epstein files. And he has a strange definition of “PERFECT” that seems to include incompetent, unqualified, infighting, and perversely adoring of Dear Leader.

“Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration?”
So the Epstein files don’t exist. Except that they do exist, but Trump still won’t release them, even though they were written by Obama and his other political foes.

“Why didn’t these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files? If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn’t they use it?”
Why doesn’t Trump release the Epstein files? If there is NOTHING in there that could hurt him and the MAGA movement, why doesn’t he come clean and keep his promise?

“Kash Patel, and the FBI, must be focused on investigating Voter Fraud, Political Corruption, ActBlue, The Rigged and Stolen Election of 2020. […] The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what [Pam Bondi] is looking into as AG.”
So Kash Patel and Pam Bondi are laser focused on political retribution, rather than fighting real crime and keeping the country safe.

“[Let’s] not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.”
Trump has a funny way of showing that nobody cares about Jeffrey Epstein by disgorging a rambling and tediously long treatise that proves just how much he cares about and/or fears what his files might contain.

Fox News must be so proud of Lara for snagging this exclusive interview. Just imagine how MAGA would have responded if MSNBC had hired Hunter Biden and he scored an interview with his father, the President. And never mind that Lara is currently mulling a race for the North Carolina Senate. Which means that she in violation of the Fox News policy that prohibits people who are running, or considering running, for office from being employed on the network. It’s not like Fox needs to respect journalistic ethics. They never have before.

The response to Trump’s BUBBA bill has been an enthusiastic thumbs down. Every poll shows that it is widely opposed by majorities of the American people. That would bode ill for the GOP’s electoral prospects in the upcoming elections of 2026 and 2028. Consequently, the party is taking steps to insure their maintenance of autocratic control of the government with an orchestrated outpouring of dishonest propaganda.

Naturally, that campaign of cult programming is conducted by Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation, Fox News. And they are leading off with an attack on someone who they obviously regard as a threat to Dear Leader, Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas. On Thursday morning, Fox’s Harris Faulkner completely mangled a news report about Crockett saying that…

“A shocking poll shows Texas Democrat Congresswoman, Jasmine Crockett, is leading in the race for incumbent Republican John Cornyn’s Senate seat. Even bigger news though, the massive backlash over her making the Texas flood disaster all about her. Well, it’s not news, cause she does that with everything. Even talking about her hair style. That’s an odd mix of topics.”

First of all, the poll that Harris is referring to is not about the race between Crockett and Cornyn. It is about the race for the Democratic Party’s primary candidates, ranking Crocket with her Party colleagues Colin Allred, Beto O’Rourke, and Juaquin Castro. In that poll Crockett is indeed leading at this time. It should also be noted that this poll was conducted by National Republican Senatorial Committee. Which is not exactly a neutral source.

Faulkner might have been closer to something newsworthy if she had brought up the poll for the Republican Party primary, where Sen. Cornyn is currently nine points behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. They are both MAGA devotees, but Trump has declined to endorse either of them yet. He will likely endorse whoever is ahead when it gets closer to election day.

Trump may also lean toward Paxton because they have so much in common as disgraced politicians with an aversion to ethical behavior. Paxton has a long list of legal troubles, ethical controversies, and scandals that have surrounded him during his tenure as Texas Attorney General. Including his being under indictment on three felony charges of securities fraud. He was also impeached by the Republican-controlled Texas House on charges of bribery, abuse of public trust, obstruction of justice, and retaliation against whistleblowers. Should be a slam dunk for Trump.

Getting back to Faulkner’s crackpot critique of Crockett, Faulkner claimed that the “bigger news” was the alleged “massive backlash” over Crockett “making the Texas flood disaster all about her.” Faulkner’s source for that was a report by the wingnut “Daily Caller” whose evidence of a backlash consisted of Crockett saying in an Instagram post that…

“My heart is truly heavy for all of these families. The sad part is I think that my heart is going to carry a level of weight that will continue to weigh me down as we have to continue to do our best to survive an administration that literally is against us, An administration that is doing everything, in my mind, to hurt us and not help us. And it feels like we are fending for ourselves and no one should feel that way.”

To anyone with a functioning cerebral cortex (which leaves out Faulkner and her Fox News viewers), Crockett is expressing a concern, not for herself, but for the grieving families in Texas, and for the American people more broadly. And Faulkner’s dig at Crockett for “talking about her hair style” was merely an afterthought that Crockett added to her post because people were asking about it. She wrote, “Edit: My staff said y’all are commenting about my?BOB! Thank you @jacorean_ for orchestrating the look.”

The fact that Faulkner and Fox News would devote valuable airtime to any of this is proof of just how scared they are of Crockett. They can’t handle the notion of a brilliant Black woman with a law degree and a seat in Congress challenging the supremacy of MAGA and Trump. And by the way, if they don’t like Crockett, they aren’t gonna like the other prospective Democratic candidates for the Texas Senate either. So maybe they should just sit this one out, or stop whining.

Lawrence O’Donnell Calls Out the ‘Stupidest White House Press Corps (and President)’ In History

The devolution of the White House press corps has been one of the most profoundly disturbing and dangerous aspects of the Era of Donald Trump. And it couldn’t come at a worse time. As Trump pursues his mission to undermine American principles and rule as an autocratic tyrant, much of the media is cooperating by failing to fulfill their duties as the guardians of democracy.

Immediately upon his reoccupation of the White House, Trump orchestrated an overhaul of the press corps that he regards as “the enemy of the people.”. He installed an FBI boss, Kash Patel, who has threatened to “come after the people in the media.” And he ejected credible journalists from the press briefings and replaced them with sycophantic puppets devoted to disseminating his dishonest and self-serving propaganda and lies.

On Tuesday night, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell addressed this abysmal situation in an extended analysis of what’s gone wrong with the Washington press (video below). He tagged the current crop of White House Trump flunkies as “the stupidest White House press corps in history.” And that wasn’t hyperbole. O’Donnell said that…

“The possibility of a relentlessly stupid person becoming president of the United States has been underexplored by screenwriters. And then Donald Trump came along and went far beyond what Hollywood could ever imagine in the presidency.”

Recalling his past as a writer and producer on TV’s “The West Wing,” O’Donnell opined that…

“If I were writing the character of a stupid president in a script, I would simply have had the stupid president completely rely on a smart White House staff and a smart cabinet and just hide behind those people, and absolutely – and I mean absolutely – never talk to the press, because a stupid president’s stupidity would be immediately exposed by the White House press corps.

“And on that point, I would have been very wrong. Because it turns out the stupidest presidency in American history has the stupidest White House press corps in American history.”

What triggered O’Donnell’s angst was a remark made by Trump at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting where he took a few questions from the media. At one point he was asked a question by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins about whether he had approved of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suspending military aid to Ukraine. Trump dodged the question, so Collins asked him directly who approved the pause. Trump arrogantly – or ignorantly – replied “I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me?”

O’Donnell went on to criticize the press corps that Trump “has been able to beat down and humiliate…to the point where they take that for an answer meekly and shut up.” No one bothered to press Trump for a serious answer about who is running the Defense Department. Note that Hegseth was sitting next to him at the table.

Following this embarrassing exchange, Trump later the same day told the press that he would be resuming military aid to Ukraine. So it makes one wonder how Hegseth manages to hold on to his job in the wake of so many glaring mistakes, including disclosing military attack plans during a chat on the Signal app.

O’Donnell summed up his segment saying that…

“Some individual members of the White House press corps – and I want to stress this – remain excellent at their jobs. But they frequently don’t get to ask Donald Trump a question. […] And I have to admit, if I were in the White House press corps, I’m not sure I would figure out how to resist it, except to maybe yell out some question about Donald Trump lying about something. And then I wouldn’t be in the White House press corps anymore. I would be shown out the door and that would be the end of that.”

Exactly. The media who continue to participate in these charades are behaving like cowards who are afraid to lose their access to the president. But that access is worthless if the only things they ever get out of him are lies and propaganda. It is not worth sacrificing your journalistic integrity.

The media needs to grow a spine and start to challenge Trump, or refuse to show up just to bolster his blatant bullshittery. That shouldn’t be a difficult decision.
