The subject of President Biden’s mental health has been filling the airtime on many of the mainstream news networks since the publication of “Original sin,” the book co-authored by CNN host Jake Tapper last month. Never mind that Biden has been out of office for five months and there is no evidence of any failures on his part before his term ended. To the contrary, when measured by his legislative and economic results, he presided over one of the most successful administrations in modern times.

It isn’t particularly surprising that today’s tabloid media is so obsessed with reality TV style scandals and melodrama. It’s their response to the changing media marketplace and their desperation for eyeballs that generate ad revenue. What is surprising is that they are so dismissive of the cognitive discombobulation of the current president, Donald Trump, whose undeniable derangement puts the nation and the world at risk.
SEE THIS: WHO’S DERANGED? Trump on Biden Clones, Transgender Mice, Autopens, and His Own Mental Anguish
After several weeks of shameless plugging of Tapper’s book by his own network, CNN host Abby Phillip has finally decided to test the waters of actual journalism in an exchange with veteran conservative pundit, Bill Kristol. The segment began with a brief discussion about the psychological status of Biden, then broadened to included Trump.
Phillip: For two months, all the attention’s been on the mental acuity of the previous president. And while the scrutiny is justified, what about the current president? After all, he’s pushing a batshit conspiracy theory that Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced with a clone robot. Bill is back with us at the table. I cannot believe I just read those words. replaced with a robot.
Kristol: Trump doesn’t believe it. He’s cynical. He has a lot of people who love conspiracy theories in his among his supporters. He pays no price for the supporters who don’t believe any of that nonsense by tweeting it. And some people get revved up and decide, Trump’s our guy. So he does it to provoke obviously us and all that. But Trump. does not believe it. However, I will say Trump is a cynical con man who knows how to speak to a lot of people. But the conspiracists are a part of the Trump administration.
Phillip: Well, he is a conspiracist. I mean, he has a long history going all the way back to the birther conspiracy.
What about the current president, indeed! Phillip was right to bring up the bizarre post that Trump made to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, wherein he asserted that Biden had been executed in 2020, and replaced by clones and/or robots. And she was right to describe Trump’s raving as “a batshit conspiracy theory.” But she was wrong to have ignored the mystery of Trump’s missing or malfunctioning marbles for so long.
For his part, Kristol sought to give Trump the benefit of a doubt by suggesting that Trump didn’t actually believe his own BS. But would that make it any better if Trump was just lying and considered his staff and followers to be so stupid that they would buy it anyway?
Kristol did end up agreeing with Phillip’s conclusion that Trump is a conspiracist due to his promotion of the birther conspiracy that President Obama was Muslim born in Kenya. She could have also mentioned Trump’s acceptance of the claim that immigrants were eating dogs and cats, or that the federal government was financing research into transgender mice, or that windmills cause cancer, or that Ted Cruz’s father killed JFK, or that tariffs are paid by foreign governments.
Meanwhile, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda – aka Fox News – was fulfilling their mission to glorify Trump in all things as the divine cult leader that they believe him to be. The “Curvy Couch” potatoes on Fox and Friends devoted much of their program to defending Trump from the rapidly spreading meme that “Trump Always Chickens Out” (TACO). it’s a reference to his repeated caving in on the tariffs that he has threatened over the past couple of months. Co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy (wife of Trump’s Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy) actually said that Trump “is the bravest man in the world.”
Really? The whole world? And this is the same Trump who is a five-time draft dodger, who whines non-stop about any mild criticism, and has sued CBS because their interview of Kamala Harris on 60 Minutes made him suffer “mental anguish”? Such bravery this world hasn’t seen since the last messiah walked upon it.
