There has never been an American president whose skin was as thin as whiny baby Donald Trump. He rarely takes a rest from complaining about how horribly offended he is over even the most mild criticism or disagreement. And he lashes out petulantly at whoever dared to utter that insult.

On Tuesday morning Trump provided yet another demonstration of his emotional tenderness with his announcement that he is suing the New York Times for … well, who knows what? He’s calling it defamation, but his filing doesn’t contain a single example of anything defamatory published by the Times. It’s just a hodgepodge of gripes about legitimate expressions of opinion that are based on his verifiable conduct. And there is nothing he hates more than accurate reporting about what he does and says.
SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump Whines About Getting Bad Press and Demands that the Offending Media Be Terminated
In the tediously long posting to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump wrote in part that…
“Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times, one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the History of our Country, becoming a virtual ‘mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democrat Party.”
Trump’s bizarre “Great Honor” to sue the Times is notable for committing the same sort of defamation that he is accusing the Times of. If required to prove his allegation that the Times is “degenerate” or “a virtual ‘mouthpiece'” for Democrats, he would come up pitifully short. And even if it were true, it’s perfectly legal under the Constitution’s First Amendment. But Trump was just getting started. He also wrote that…
“Their Endorsement of Kamala Harris was actually put dead center on the front page of The New York Times, something heretofore UNHEARD OF!”
Once again, if true it would be the prerogative of the Times to endorse anyone they want, in any manner they choose. But for the record, Trump is lying. The Times endorsement of Harris was only in the Opinion section, not the front page. And there was nothing “UNHEARD OF” about it. And then he continued…
“…our successful litigation against George Slopadopoulos/ABC/Disney, and 60 Minutes/CBS/Paramount”
Setting aside Trump’s infantile nickname for George Stephanopoulos, he is lying yet again. He did not have a “successful litigation” against Disney or Paramount. Neither case ever went to trial. They both settled due to their cowardly fear of Trump interfering with their businesses, which he threatened to do. And they both had pending transactions that relied on approvals from the federal government. So they settled in order to appease Trump. Even so, the amounts were mere fractions of what Trump sued them for. And finally, Trump revealed that…
“The suit is being brought in the Great State of Florida.”
This is an obvious effort to judge-shop in the more friendly Florida pool of conservative judges, rather than the actual location of the suit’s target in New York.
Since Trump’s lawsuit fails to identify any false or defamatory statements by the Times, what is Trump really whining about? Well, last week he threatened bring a suit over a Times story about the now infamous “birthday card” to Jeffrey Epstein that included a note from Trump. He is already suing the Wall Street Journal for $10 billion for the same thing. Trump has denied that the card existed, even after it was released by the Epstein estate. So this is more performative bullpucky, and intimidation. For it’s part, the Times responded saying that…
The New York Times responded to Trump’s lawsuit saying that “This lawsuit has no merit. It lacks any legitimate legal claims and instead is an attempt to stifle and discourage independent reporting. The New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics. We will continue to pursue the facts without fear or favor and stand up for journalists’ First Amendment right to ask questions on behalf of the American people.”
We’ll see. Many others have capitulated. Although the record shows that, more often than not, when a party to a Trump lawsuit chose to fight back, they won. Because in the end, Trump is just a phony who puts on a facade of toughness that he has never lived up to. In fact, he has provided a better description of himself when he bragged that he is “the most fabulous whiner.” No, really…
UPDATE: Trump’s lawsuit against the New York Times was thrown out of court only two days after it was filed. The ruled that “it “unmistakably and inexcusably”that the courts are violated the rules that govern civil lawsuits, and “not a protected platform to rage against an adversary.”
