Ever since Donald Trump launched his totalitarian military troop deployments to police American citizens in their homes, he has spread flagrant lies about the “success” he’s had in utterly eradicating crime. Never mind that the actual data fails to support his delusional reports, and that crime had already dropped to multiyear lows before he began.

Accurate statistics are anathema to aspiring dictators like Trump who rely on manufacturing fear to keep their faithful cult followers in line. And Trump hasn’t been shy about disseminating lies that cities like Washington, D.C., and Chicago, and New York, and Baltimore, and Los Angeles, are, in Trump’s words “hellholes.”, Also, they all happen to have Black mayors. But it’s surely just a coincidence that he cherry-picked those cities, right?

On Thursday Trump expanded on his bullshittery saying that crime in Washington, D.C. had declined 100%. That means that it dropped to zero. At least he didn’t go farther and say it dropped 1,500% like he has with drug prices. But even this statement is preposterous. Along with false assertions that “restaurants were dying. [And] Nobody wanted to go out,” Trump said that…
“If you look at Washington D.C. three weeks ago, it was the same or worse, and now it is considered a totally safe zone. […] Washington D.C. is a totally safe city. You are not reporting any crime because there is none. They said crime is down 87%. Then I said ‘no it’s not. It’s down 100%.'”

A city would have to have transformed into a fairytale utopia to have eliminated all crime. And no such city exists anywhere but in Trump’s twisted imagination. Well, also in the servile imaginations of Trump’s flunkies. For instance, his Attorney Genuflect, Pam Bondi, posted the following meme on Thursday…
Bondi posts a similar meme every day. And she also appears on Fox News almost daily with the same message. Which raises the obvious question: How can there be dozens of arrests every day in a city where Trumps insists there is zero crime? Are they arresting people who are innocent? Are they prosecuting thought crimes? Whatever the explanation, Bondi is contradicting her boss by bragging about all the criminals she has taken off of the streets that he says aren’t there.
For good measure, Trump’s U.S. Attorney for D. C., Jeanine Pirro, is boasting about the same criminal statistics as Bondi.
What’s more, Pirro, who hasn’t practiced law for twenty years, and who Trump recruited from Fox News (like his Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, and a couple of dozen others in his administration), is racking up an abysmal record as U.S. Attorney. So far she failed to get a Grand Jury indictment in a case against a woman who allegedly threatened Trump. She also failed to get an indictment of a man who was arrested for throwing a sandwich at an ICE agent. Even though it was on video. So much for the old saying about how easy it is to get a Grand Jury indictment because they will indict a ham sandwich.
With Bondi and Pirro daily announcing the crimes they have allegedly stopped, will Trump apologize and admit that he hasn’t totally eliminated crime in D.C. Sure. Right after he apologizes for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll and many other women, And right after he admits that he lost the election in 2020. And right after he actually criticizes his BFF Vladimir Putin. In short, right after he develops a conscience and grows a spine. And here’s a health tip: Don’t hold your breath.
