The unrelenting campaign of propaganda that is dispensed by Donald Trump and his administration appears to be inspired by the PR campaigns of entertainment media, particularly the reality TV genre that birthed Trump himself. He manages to have his people delivering his messages on Fox News on a daily basis. Often multiple times each day.

Trump continues to rely on Fox News as his primary outlet for his propaganda, despite Fox having paid a settlement of 3/4 of a billion dollars for having lied repeatedly about the 2020 presidential election. However, he does have other platforms as well, including Newsmax and the One America News Network (OAN), who have their own legal problems with lying to their viewers.

Fulfilling its Trump-fluffing mission, OAN hosted Vice-President JD Vance on The Matt Gaetz Show to discuss recent developments with the Trump administration’s ongoing failure to resolve the Russia/Ukraine war as Trump had promised. And predictably, Vance offered a full-throated defense of Trump’s views, which just happen to be exactly the same as Vladimir Putin’s. The opening question by Gaetz was both biased and leading. But most of all weird…
Gaetz: Sources have told me that Russian president Vladimir Putin has suggested that sanctions relief could result in Russia moving more of their energy commodities in the U.S. dollar, functionally giving the United States a lot of control over U.S. energy markets that could lower energy costs for Americans. Do you see economic cooperation with Russia as one of the things that could bring an end to some of the hostilities that we want to see concluded?
Vance: Absolutely. And it’s one of the carrots that we’ve thrown out there. And the president has been very open with both the Europeans and the Russians that he doesn’t see any reason why we should economically isolate Russia except for the continuation of the conflict…Let’s be honest. Whether you like or dislike Russia, whether you agree or disagree with their underlying arguments for the conflict, the simple fact is they’ve got a lot of oil. They’ve got a lot of gas. They’ve got a lot of mineral wealth.
Vance stated that the Trump administration does not seek economic isolation of Russia.

REALLY? Vance just justified giving Russia a lucrative economic deal that he said would enrich both Russia and the U.S. And he thinks that’s an appropriate “carrot” for the barbaric invader of Ukraine who has slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent civilians. After all, as Vance says, Trump “doesn’t see any reason why we should economically isolate Russia.”
Vance also brought up what he thinks are the issues that are most important to both sides. He said that Russia just wants 6,000 square kilometers more of Ukraine, and that Ukraine only wants security guarantees. Both of those are profoundly shallow assessments of this very complex situation. Russia has been adamant about controlling all of Ukraine, that Putin thinks belongs to Russia. Conversely, Ukraine is determined to maintain their sovereignty.
In Vance’s tiny and twisted imagination, Russia can be persuaded to end their assault by making economic deals with them for energy and natural resources. These are deals wherein Ukraine is left battered and divided and subjugated to Russia. Meanwhile, Russia gets much of Ukraine, lots of money, and a fair chunk of American subservience. The latter is already evident in Trump’s neglect to do anything about Putin’s recent escalation in Ukraine, or his flying drones over Poland.
Virtually every recommendation offered by Vance benefits Russia and harms Ukraine. And he places the blame for the war on both nations, despite the fact that it was Russia that invaded their peaceful neighbor without provocation. So there is one thing that Vance is making abundantly clear: Putin could not have have bought a better advocate than Donald Trump and his lackey, JD Vance.
