ELECTION DAY SPECIAL: Trump Promises to Leave the US if Americans Get Tired of Him – OKAY, GO NOW!

Over the past ten years Donald Trump has made a lot of promises. Most of them are still unfulfilled. They range from delivering a new healthcare plan, to ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, to reducing inflation and the cost of living, to ruling the nation as a dictator.

Donald Trump Walking the Plank

Oh wait. That last promise about ruling as a dictator actually has been fulfilled, at least aspirationally. Trump’s practices of governing by executive order, bypassing Congress, suppressing media, building tributes to himself, and ignoring judicial rulings are all examples of his anti-democratic, tyrannical overreach. Even the Supreme Court is, in his twisted mind, beneath him.

On Election Day 2026, Trump visited with his official Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, to make a closing pitch to America’s voters. And true to form, he unleashed a litany of lies regarding his tenure in his second occupation of the White House. However, he also offered a new promise that most Americans will appreciate. Trump proposed the following to his Fox & Friends pals…

“I’m at 99% approval rating in Israel. Can you believe it? If people ever got tired of me in the US, I’ll move to Israel and become prime minister. Think of it. I’m at 99 – I have the highest approval rating of anybody in history.”

First of all, let’s reply to Trump’s inquiry as to whether we can believe his claim that “I’m at 99% approval rating in Israel.” The answer is a resounding “NO!” There are no surveys that attest to Trump’s egomaniacal assertion. He does have some degree of popularity in Israel among their right-wingers, but nothing that approaches 99%.

More to the point, Trump’s suggestion that he would move to Israel if Americans got tired of him is without a doubt the most appealing promise he’s ever made. Particularly since most Americans are already way past tired of him. His approval rating is at a record low, although he and his cult disciples will never acknowledge that.

Were Trump to honor his word, he would have to leave immediately for Israel. But don’t hold your breath. Trump is not known for keeping his promises. What’s more, Israel may not be as eager to welcome him as he thinks. Especially after what he said in the same Fox News interview this morning. Regarding the extraordinarily generous aid the U.S. has provided for Israel, Trump said that…

Trump: We were giving them $4 billion, We are, but it gets cut off at the end of the year.
Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: Why?
Trump: Why? Because they don’t need it, Brian. I mean, I ask them because they don’t need it, and because why should we suffer the slings from lunatics like an El-Sayed when they don’t need it? It’s a bad – it’s a bad talking point.

Trump says that he discussed this with Israel’s current Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who agreed that it would be a good idea to end the aid. Which is preposterous. Why would Netanyahu shut off billions in aid to his own country.

Clearly this conversation never happened. Trump is just making it up in a desperate attempt to scrounge up some more votes from Americans who are weary of the U.S. funding Israel’s war efforts. That’s why he brought up Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a critic of the funding, in his response. And Trump’s admission that his reasoning to cut the aid was because it created a “bad talking point,” rather than for a coherent strategic purpose, is ridiculous and dangerous.

Hopefully we won’t have to endure much more of this insanity from Trump. The election of more Democrats in Congress should provide some shield from his worst tendencies. Of course it could just trigger an escalation of his madness. If we’re lucky he will finally keep a promise and deport himself. We’ll see.
