Limbaugh, O’Reilly, And Beck. Oh My

A new poll by Politico and George Washington University has some interesting data regarding the Three Stooges of the American Right.

It will certainly boost the giant, economy-sized egos of these already self-absorbed narcissists to learn that they ranked highest in terms of favorability in the survey. And if they stop reading there they will be fine. However, upon closer examination they will find that they are also ranked as the three most unfavorably viewed in the poll.

I guess you either love ’em or hate ’em. But don’t ever accuse them of being divisive.

  1. I’d love to know more info about the respondents to this, also don’t they exclusively call land lines? That leaves out a prodigious chunk of the younger demo. People that feel this way and watch these clowns in the first place would vote right anyways, the important thing to note is these guys don’t change minds at all. They reinforce irrational fear and hatred already in place in their viewership; I remember the candidates these guys endorsed in the primaries back when Brown was running and they all lost. They have no where near the impact they think they do.

    • If you read the survey you can get a reasonable picture though the sort of demographic information you want (e.g., age, sex, etc) isn’t’ there.

One deceptive thing that people get hung up on is self-declared Republicans versus Democrats. It’s not a good indicator, IMHO, of the degree of conservative or liberal a person is. Fox News has a very conservative content/audience yet, until recently, boasted surprising balance in Democrats versus Republicans and still today boasts a surprisingly high percentage of “Democrats” given it’s high degree of right-wing bias.

Looking though the survey there are many indications the sample has a strong slant if you get past a slim 4 point deficit in people who identify as or lean toward Democrats. For example, Jon Stewart has a less positive impact than any partisan conservative shill like Limbaugh, Beck or Hannity. Give me a break. Stewart mocks both sides.

So if Jon has few fans in this group it’s no shock that liberal partisans like Schultz, Maddow, and Olbermann are in a race to the bottom of the “positive impact” segment. Just as interesting, the liberal pundit trio of Schultz, Maddow, and Olbermann have by far the lowest recognition rate with this crowd. Which may explain the not only the positive numbers but the negative numbers as well since there’s an obvious correlation with the positive/negatives and never heard of responses.
