Sicko Gets Thumbs Up From…Fox?

Michael Moore’s new film, “Sicko,” got a critical boost today from an unexpected source. Roger Friedman, the Fox411 entertainment reporter, lavished praise on the film in his online column:

“Filmmaker Michael Moore’s brilliant and uplifting new documentary, “Sicko,” deals with the failings of the U.S. healthcare system, both real and perceived. But this time around, the controversial documentarian seems to be letting the subject matter do the talking, and in the process shows a new maturity.”

Maybe this is not really all that unexpected. Friedman also reviewed Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” saying…

“It turns out to be a really brilliant piece of work, and a film that members of all political parties should see without fail.” He continued, “…a tribute to patriotism, to the American sense of duty – and at the same time a indictment of stupidity and avarice.”

I wonder how Friedman managed to evade security at the Fox compound and seed the conservosphere with such disinformation. It appears he may have risen from a covert assignment at Murdoch’s New York Post before infiltrating the mother ship.

Friedman is not, however, out of danger. Having predicted last September that Sicko will be “a huge, huge hit…another cultural phenomenon,” Friedman, is directly challenging Fox’s heavy artillery, Bill O’Reilly, who has his own security force, and has already declared Sicko a failure that won’t make any money. Of course, O’Reilly also famously mis-forecast that the double-platinum selling, 5-time Grammy winning Dixie Chicks’ CD “Taking the Long Way” would flop.

We’ll know in a couple of months who prevails. My money is on Friedman.

  1. I would like to know why this michael friedman is attacking Ms jolie. She has a right as you sir to her freedom of speech as so many of your esteemed colleagues seem to hide behind yours.Do you blame ms jolie for requesting that the questions be referenced to the film and not her private life. She knows only too wall what happens when she grants an interview. Also fox news especially has been very negative in their press towards ms jolie in the past. I truly believe that you sir, has a certain bias to ms jolie. This movie is about Daniel Pearle a fellow journalist, not about you or fox news, why are you getting all worked up about this is beyond me. Why don’t you ask Vice president Cheney or better yet president Bush about their freedom of speech when their talking heads try to out a CIA operative by the name of Valerie Plame. I see the self righteous indignation of your comments regarding ms jolie. You really believe that you can hurt her don’t you. I am quite sure Ms jolie is not losing a bit of sleep over your rants. She knows who she is, has the love of her family, friends and many fans the world over. Whether you her the media suupport ms jolie for an oscar nomination does not matter to her, because she is not that trival, she could care less. She never came into this movie trying to get an oscar only to bring light to Daniel Pearle as told through the eyes of his wife Mariane. Haven’t you heard ms jolie has won many awards in her short life and has given all away, even an oscar, so you are not hurting her one bit.You can spew all your bile and hate towards angelina jolie she will continue to be successful in anything she does, just take a look at all she has accomplished. You are nothing but a right wing fox hater and believe me main stream america hates Fox news.
