Anyone who hasn’t yet figured out that Donald Trump is a world-class imbecile who is pitifully incapable of grasping the obvious – or reality – probably still believes in the tooth fairy and needs to sew their name into their hat to remember what it is. In other words, they would be MAGA cult followers.

The dangerous dimwittedness of Trump puts America and all of its inhabitants at risk every day. It is particularly evident during a crisis such as the current Trump Shutdown that has resulted in millions of Americans being deprived of critical aid for food, just because Trump and his Republican minions are determined to make them pay more for healthcare.

Consequently, it shouldn’t come as surprise that Trump spent this Sunday morning posting a flurry of deranged comments related to his obsessions with voter ID (i.e. suppression), the divine glory of tariffs, and killing Obamacare. And with regard to the latter, Trump thought it would bolster his arguments by posting a meme that alleged that President Obama has been profiting from his namesake healthcare program. The meme said…

“BREAKING: DOGE halts yearly payment of $2.5 million to Barack Obama for ‘royalties linked to Obamacare.’ Obama has collected this payment since 2010, for a total of $40 million in taxpayer dollars.”

Trump is trying to shift responsibility for the government shutdown (and denial of medical coverage) to the Democrats by attacking Obamacare.Obviously, the post below is flat false. Obama hasn’t earned royalties from the Affordable Care Act. But it goes to show how desperate Trump is to distract.

Trump added his own commentary that consisted of the single exclamation “WOW!” Wow, indeed. That would be a shocking revelation, except for one little thing. It isn’t true. In fact, it was originally posted by a satirical website with its own disclaimer saying that “Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

Apparently that admonition was insufficient for Trump, who recently did have his head examined. He had a “perfect” MRI for reasons that have never been explained. But medical professionals say that it is rarely prescribed without some diagnostic concern to probe. It could have been to check whether or not Trump was suffering from the sort of cognitive decline that would cause him to believe the preposterous meme that he posted.

For the record, the meme has roots that go back several years. FactCheck.org researched it in February of this year and published their findings, saying that…

“In recent days, some social media posts have repeated a fabricated claim that DOGE had halted millions in supposed royalty payments to former President Barack Obama. […] But the claim that the former president had been receiving royalty payments for the health care law he championed was the invention of America’s Last Line of Defense, or ALLOD, which publishes fabricated political stories and claims on its websites and social media pages that it describes as satirical.”

Throughout his occupation of the White House, Trump has been a perpetual source of embarrassment to the nation and humiliation to himself and his party. And just when you think that he has descended to depths that could never be lower, he manages to prove that his ability to plummet ever farther into the bowels of the abhorrent has been grossly underestimated. That’s his superpower.
