Earlier this month, Trump suffered a resounding electoral defeat as voters in multiple states rejected his candidates and his policies. And with his pathetic failure to address the number one issue in the minds of voters – the economy – his future looks decidedly bleak. And he knows it.

Trump’s fear of sinking to ever deeper depths in public opinion is having a profound impact on his already fragile emotional state. It could be at least partly responsible for what may be his most nauseating outburst wherein he called for the execution of several Democratic members of Congress just because they reminded soldiers of their duty to disobey illegal orders.

So Trump is going to go into an apoplectic shock when he hears about the latest poll by his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. Quite often when a Fox News poll has bad news for Trump, the network buries it. And they did on this occasion as well, at least so far as their most watched primetime programs are concerned. However, Fox’s primary “news” anchor, Bret Baier, had the audacity to air part of the poll’s results during his Thursday program. He reported that…

“The issue of affordability, the issue of how people feel about the economy, is popping up in our latest poll. In personal financial situation – “excellent/good” 40%, only “fair or poor” 60%. The condition of the U.S. economy, also a perception totally upside down. 76-25%. And then economic conditions for the nation and you personally, again 25% positive, 76 negative for the nation, and 60-40 % (negative) personally.”

It’s difficult to imagine things being much worse for Trump. Fortunately, no imagination is necessary if you read the article about the poll on Fox’s website. It went into more detail than Baier was comfortable revealing on the air. For instance, among all voters, only 41% approve of the job Trump is doing, while 58% disapprove. That’s a five-point drop since September.

What’s more, a new low of 38% approves of his handling of the economy. While large numbers overall – and even among Republicans – say their costs for groceries, utilities, healthcare and housing have gone up this year. About twice as many say Trump, rather than Biden, is responsible for the current economy. That includes a surprising 42% of Republicans. And voters say by a 31-point margin that Trump’s economic policies have hurt rather than helped them.

Trump has yet to comment on these abysmal numbers. But in the past, Trump has made his displeasure with Fox News known when they published poll results like these. This summer Trump lashed out at Fox News for reporting survey results that proved to be pretty accurate. Trump raged on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“The Crooked FoxNews Polls got the Election WRONG, I won by much more than they said I would, and have been biased against me for years. They are always wrong and negative. It’s why MAGA HATES FoxNews, even though their anchors are GREAT.”

That’s right! “MAGA HATES FoxNews.” Which is why Trump’s glassy-eyed cult disciples watch almost nothing else. And among the reasons that Trump thinks the Fox “anchors are great,” aside from their constant kissing of Trump’s…let’s say ring, is that they don’t embarrass him by reporting his awful poll numbers, even by their own network. Although the polling from other sources isn’t any better for Trump. Just wait until he hears about this…
