Trump Promises Higher Prices ‘On Everything’ Just in Time for the Holidays – No, Really!

Tis the season to be jolly. Fa la la la, etc. That is, unless you are among the majority of Americans who suffering under the burden of Donald Trump’s disastrous economic agenda that places the interests of regular people below those of Trump’s wealthy friends and the corporations that kowtow to him for governmental favors.

Trump Christmas Tree

There is a relentless stream of inbred tone deafness that permeates virtually everything that Trump and his administration acolytes say and do. Trump’s inability to even pretend to comprehend the lives of average Americans is one of the primary reasons that his approval ratings have sunk to levels that threaten to break records for presidential unpopularity going back decades.

SEE THIS: TRUMP IS TOAST! Even In a Fox News Poll Most Say Trump’s Economic Policies Have Hurt Them

Chief among Trump’s ignorant policies is his insistence on imposing inflationary tariffs on the products that most Americans use every day, including groceries. clothing, building materials, appliances, technology, etc. And through it all Trump repeatedly lies that it is foreign governments who pay the tariffs, rather than domestic importers who pass the costs on to consumers.

However, for all the lies that Trump tells, these are the least likely for him to get away with. Because people know what they spend when they go shopping. Nevertheless, Trump can’t stop piling on with his dishonest excuses for why everything costs more these days. And in a comment posted to his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social, he made something of a confession that he intends to make things even worse. In a tediously long tirade he wrote in part that…

“…the full benefit of the Tariffs has not yet been calculated in that many of the buyers of goods and products, in order to avoid paying the Tariffs in the short term, ‘STOCK UP’ by purchasing far more inventory than they can use. That heavy inventory purchase is now, however, wearing thin, and soon Tariffs will be paid on everything they apply to, without avoidance, and the amounts payable to the USA will SKYROCKET, over and above the already historic levels of dollars received.”

This is not only filled with brazen untruths, it reeks of ridiculousness. First of all, Trump has been bragging about unprecedented amounts of revenue that has been taken in by his tariffs for months. But now he is saying that those tariffs have not actually been collected because the importers have been delaying any new purchases by stocking up prior to the tariffs kicking in.

Even worse, Trump is announcing that those tariffs that have been avoided so far are about to be levied, and that “soon Tariffs will be paid on everything they apply to, without avoidance.” Which would mean that everything that we buy heretofore will cost significantly more, just in time for the holidays. Merry Christmas everybody.

What’s more, those higher expected prices will be on top of those already in the marketplace. Trump has been touting alleged savings for Thanksgiving dinner that he got from a Walmart advertisement that he keeps calling a “study.” In fact, those costs are actually higher. But Trump & Co. have a solution: Bribe people with welfare to compensate them for his stupidity. Here is Trump’s Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, laying out the specifics for Maria Bartiromo, the Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, who actually brushes him back a bit…

Bartiromo: The president is also looking at this potential proposal to send out checks of $2,000, dividend checks. And there’s an analyst I spoke to over the weekend who said that’s it’s unlikely unless we see a second reconciliation package passed in 2026. What’s your expectation in terms of the second reconciliation bill, or stand alone $2,000 checks to go out?
Lutnick: Look, the tariffs are an American policy. The president wants the American people to understand how great tariffs are for them. So one of the ways to prove how great tariffs are is to have them share in a part of one year’s income from these tariffs. […]
Bartiromo: But the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget says that those tariffs will cost roughly $6 hundred billion each round, and increase the deficit by $6 trillion over a decade.

That’s right! Trump’s plan is to impose tariffs (aka taxes) on the American people that will actually cost them more than $5,200 annually. But he will reimburse them only $2,000 of that. That’s a $3,200 loss. And even that insufficient compensation will explode the deficit in the process.

The good news is that the vast majority of the American people aren’t buying the bullpucky that Trump is selling. In fact, recent polls show that most Americans, by far, already blame the sorry state of the economy on Trump, no matter how much he tries to shift the blame to President Biden who has been out of office for nearly a year.

This is gonna soil Trump's britches. Twice as many people blame Trump over Biden for the current economy.More here on this Fox News poll: www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=68299
