Fox News Host Has Manic Meltdown Over the Trump Tax (Tariffs) that She Gets Completely Wrong

For many months Donald Trump has been touting his plans to impose tariffs on products from some of America’s closest allies and biggest trading partners, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Add to that his increasing tariffs on China, and what you have is one of the biggest effective tax increases on the American people in history.

The news of Trump’s latest tariff threats going into effect have had a disastrous impact on the U.S. stock market. In two days the Dow has nosedived more than 1,500 points. That is the nation’s investors registering their stark disapproval of Trump’s assault on the domestic economy. They know that he is creating an unnecessary burden on American businesses and consumers. And he isn’t helping the 401K plans of workers and retirees either. But he is promising to run the country like he does his businesses. Which is more of a threat than a promise.

On Fox News, Maria Bartiromo (a business correspondent before switching to Senior Trump-fluffer) did a segment on Trump’s tariffs wherein a reporter interviewed the owner of a car dealership in Pennsylvania. He may not have been the guy that Fox News meant to interview. He described his experience with a customer who was prepared a buy a Dodge Ram truck before the Trump tariffs kicked in. But now the $80,000 truck would cost $100,000 and the dealer said that “He’s not gonna buy the truck. It’s gonna sit on my lot and…nobody is gonna buy the truck because it just had a $20,000 price increase.”

Whereupon, Bartiromo tried to rescue the segment by unleashing a wildly flawed rant about the inequities of of international auto markets. She raged…

“Let me ask you this: How many Dodge Rams do you see driving around Europe? How many Dodge Rams do you see driving around India? I mean, not many. I bet. Why? Because they don’t buy our cars. And that’s what President Trump is trying to change. Maybe Dodge should start building them here and selling them here.”

Fox Business interviewed the owner of a Pennsylvania auto dealership who says of Trump's tariffs, "nobody is gonna buy the truck, because it just had $20,000 price increase … this is pretty radical."The show then cut back to Maria Bartiromo, who threw a tantrum.

Let’s set aside the absurdity of how she framed her question, by asking if her viewers have seen any Dodge Rams trucks driving around Europe. As if her viewers are in Europe cataloguing cars by manufacturer. More to the point, she was typically wrong about every bit of data that she uttered. First of all, according to Motor Finance Online, the streets of Europe are teeming with trucks from Dodge…

“The European Environment Agency data reveals that nearly 5,000 Dodge RAMs were imported into Europe in 2023, marking a 20% increase from 2022. This brings the total number of Dodge RAMs on European roads to at least 20,000.”

Furthermore, contrary to Bartiromo’s ill-informed assertion, Dodge Rams are indeed sold here in America in large numbers. Nearly 90,000 in the third quarter of 2024 alone. And as for where they are made, most are manufactured in two plants located in Warren, and Sterling Heights, Michigan.

It never ceases to amaze how monumentally wrong these MAGA media propagandists are. It has to be intentional, because no one could really be that relentlessly stupid, could they? And as noted above, business is actually Bartiromo’s beat.

But in Trump World, everyone must have signed onto the agreement to always exalt Trump and anything he says, no matter how obviously untrue or utterly preposterous. And by that measure, Bartiromo, Fox News, and the rest of the MAGA media are doing an incredible job. Or more accurately, an un-credible job.

There is sometimes some controversy in the content of such speeches, but the fact that they occur is generally regarded as routine.

However, controversy stains everything that Trump engages in. It’s by design from the convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who revels in creating chaos and making waves. Consequently, his appearance before Congress tonight is already stirring a tsunami among members of Congress, as well as the people who they purportedly serve. The question of how to deal with a president who has so flagrantly demonstrated his allegiance to America’s enemies is weighing on the members of Congress who would ordinarily be expected to attend the speech. Trump has proven by his words and deeds that he is more aligned with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, than with the values of America and its Constitution.

Trump’s overtly traitorous offenses include halting U.S. aid to Ukraine, advocating that the U.S. quit the U.N. and NATO, pushing for Russia to be readmitted to the G7 assembly of nations, and his conspicuous inability to ever say anything remotely critical of Putin, while repeatedly blasting American leaders in the most vile terms. Could he possibly be more of an asset to Russia?

As a result, the day prior to Trump’s address several members announced that they will not be attending. Others have said that they will attend, but bring with them guests who will highlight Trump’s animosity toward American principles and laws. There are rumors of other types of protests that might occur in the chamber during Trump’s speech.

What hasn’t been mentioned so far is: What will the media do? There are good arguments to be made that the press should not cover Trump’s speech live. After all, why present to American and international audiences the nearly incoherent rants of a notorious enemy of democracy? Why allow a certified Putin stooge to get an extended chunk of primetime television to advance the interests of America’s foes? Why should viewers have to suffer through the infantile insults that he unleashes every time he speaks? And why would a well known pathological liar be permitted to spread flagrant falsehoods unchallenged?

The press could easily record the event and replay any significant parts with a short delay. That would likely reduce the running to about two minutes due to the absence of anything significant in his speech. With the time delay the press would also have ample time to conduct appropriate fact checking. Which could increase the running time if they decided to report on all of Trump’s lies.

Finally, Trump has already demonstrated his hatred for the media that he refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.” He has barred credible news agencies from covering him, including the Associated Press and Reuters. He has replaced news outlets in the White House Press Briefing Room such as NBC News, the New York Times, and NPR, with the Trump-fluffing propagandists at Newsmax, One America News Network, the New York Post, and Breitbart.

It is Trump’s obvious intention to suppress the free press, ignoring the Constitution’s First Amendment protections. He seeks to emulate the censorious practices of his heroes, Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. So why shouldn’t the press exercise its rights to report on him in an appropriate manner that respects their mission to keep the American people informed, and honors their duty to reporting the truth? And the best way to do that is to refrain from all live coverage of Trump, including tonight’s speech before Congress.

Crybaby Trump Demands a Televised Public Apology From Zelenskyy to Satisfy His Hurt Fee Fees

Last Friday Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Zelenskyy at the White House for what was billed as a meeting to affirm U.S. support for Ukraine’s battle against Russia’s imperialistic aggression. The meeting was also supposed to include the signing of an agreement for the U.S. to share in revenue from Ukraine’s rich mineral deposits.

In other words, it was an attempt by Trump to extort profits from Ukraine’s natural resources in exchange for protection from Trump’s pal Vladimir Putin, who would also benefit from the mineral rights agreement. This is how the Mafia operates, by making threats to coerce innocent parties to hand over their wealth or suffer the consequences of not submitting. It’s a tactic that Trump learned from his friends in organized crime.

Unfortunately, Trump purposely drove the meeting into a ditch by throwing another of his hallmark tantrums and berating Zelenskyy for not being nice enough to Putin (who invaded his country and was still massacring his people), or grateful enough to Trump (who is always only interested in what he can get for himself). Consequently, the mineral rights deal was not signed, and Trump backed out of continuing support for Ukraine’s defense.

On Monday morning Trump’s team laid out their terms for restarting negotiations with Zelenskyy. In a response to Fox News White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, Trump demanded that Zelenskyy apologize to Trump. For what? For having the patience and grace to sit through the infantile harangues of Trump and JD Vance without shouting back with the same ferocity, despite how much it was deserved? Or for calmly maintaining his composure even though the fate of his nation and people was being threatened by a petulant whiner? Here is how Doocy described the statement from the Trump camp…

“I have been told by a senior official here that nothing is gonna happen with this minerals deal until Zelenskyy goes in front of cameras and makes an explicit public apology for the way that he behaved himself – behaved in the Oval Office with that meeting.”

If it's true that Trump won't deal with Zelenskyy until he gets a "public apology," it only confirms that he's a sniveling whiner with the emotional maturity of 2 year old. And that he couldn't care less about the human cost.And of course it proves that #TrumpIsUnfitForOffice

So the Trump regime’s position is that a war started by Trump’s idol and role model, Putin, would continue unless Zelenskyy kissed Trump’s…let’s say ring. And Trump is insisting that the smooching be televised in a melodramatic reality TV style moment. Because that’s how simplistically narcissists like Trump view the world.

Furthermore, Trump has pre-announced the terms of any agreement between Ukraine and Russia, which would require Ukraine to concede its land and sovereignty, including the right to join NATO. As for Russia, Trump has not proposed that they make any concessions whatsoever. And this is the dealmaking prowess that Trump likes to brag about, where you give away everything before any negotiations have even begun?

Trump literally told Zelenskyy that he “doesn’t have any cards” to play. That’s not actually true, but more to the point, smart poker players generally don’t tell their opponents they have lousy hands. But Trump did so in front of international news media, including Russia’s state-owned media, TASS, that Trump’s staff later said was not approved to be there. But they still can’t explain how they got into the Oval Office in the first place. Can just anyone wander in without being noticed?

Where things stand now is that Trump is waiting for Zelenskyy to make a public apology. The best that he is likely to get is an expression of regret that the meeting didn’t go better. Which was entirely Trump’s fault. Because he is too cowardly and beholden to Putin to seek anything that is in the interests of Ukraine, or even America. And he posted that sentiment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Monday morning, saying that “We Should Spend Less Time Worrying About Putin.”

This suppression of free speech is not some vague, clandestine policy that is hinted at in disguised rhetoric. It is blatant and broadcast without shame by Trump and his cronies. His recently confirmed director of the FBI, Kash Patel, made sure that he would not be misunderstood when he threatened the media with persecution and prosecution if they challenged the supremacy of the regime.

Consequently, it will surprise no one that Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is leading the way down the path of total submission to the Trump cult’s hive mind. On Sunday’s edition of Fox and Friends Weekend (the program from which Trump recruited his Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth), the “Curvy Couch” potatoes drew the red line that citizens of Trump’s perverse version of America must never be allowed to cross.

Campos-Duffy: There was somebody who was in Vermont, a very liberal state, who went with his family, JD Vance, skiing, and boy, the Vermonters were not very friendly and welcoming. I don’t think any conservatives will want to go to Vermont skiing anymore.
Hurt: Shocking, SHOCKING, to find out that the state that keeps sending us Bernie Sanders decided to turn out in support of, uh, against JD Vance because of the showdown in the White House yesterday.
Campos-Duffy: Do you know what bugs me about this is? It’s like if he was, ya know, if he was like – I get, I think families should be off limits. Hunter Biden sold out the country. There was a reason to talk about him. These kids are like four and two. Why are they bothering this man on his ski vacation?

Did y’all get that? It is now required that all citizens must be “friendly and welcoming” to visitors from the Trump confederacy. Failure to behave in the approved manner will warrant ostracization, and the enmity of Trump cultists in good standing.

So even if a Trump toady, like say for instance, JD Vance, were to come to town the day after he and Trump grossly embarrassed the nation by chastising a beleaguered American ally, such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – who has been courageously fighting to defend the cherished American values of liberty and democracy – the peasants…er…residents of that town are still expected to bow down reverentially or suffer the consequences.

What’s more, the voters of that town will be mocked for democratically electing the representative of their choice if he (e.g. Bernie Sanders) doesn’t fall in line with the Fuhrer’s dictates. Never mind that when Trump’s nemesis, President Biden, was in office, it was perfectly fine to attack the President and his family in overtly unfriendly and unwelcoming ways.

In the Era of the Cult of Trump, guilt by association is the standard operating procedure. Anyone who affiliates with the enemies of Trump are suspect themselves. However, if we apply the same gauge to the Trumpists, we would see a decidedly troubling scenario unfolding. Because among the most fervent followers of Trump are some of the world’s most brutal and oppressive tyrants, whose reverence Trump gleefully returns.

On Friday Trump had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. It was billed as a routine diplomatic affair wherein the two leaders would sign an agreement for the U.S. to continue its support for Ukraine against the imperialist, genocidal aggression of Russia, in exchange for some of the abundant mineral rights held by Ukraine. Unfortunately, the meeting didn’t go as planned. Or did it?

The tantrum thrown by Trump was an embarrassment to him, his administration, and sadly, the international reputation of the United States. In a few short minutes Trump confirmed, on a world stage, his ignorance of world affairs, as well as his infantile belligerence, and his callous insensitivity to the suffering of our allies. The response from the world’s free democracies was unanimous: Trump was out of line and off his rocker!

There were, however, those who regarded Trump’s hysterics as admirable, and even as “a lot of male alpha energy coming from Trump.” That fangirl commentary came from a Fox News co-host of Fox and Friends, Rachel Campos-Duffy, who happens to be married to Trump’s Transportation Secretary and former Fox News hack, Sean Duffy. But what she went to say was even more ridiculous…

“I think we have to get back to the central point, I think the most important point, that Donald Trump made in this whole thing, ‘You are gambling with World War III.’

“This was about peace ultimately. There’s a lot of drama, and we can break down everybody’s feelings, but in the end, I think what’s remarkable is that we have a president who’s willing to do anything to bring about world peace. Man, if he doesn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize after this, that thing means nothing.

SERIOUSLY? A Nobel Peace Prize for deliberately sabotaging any rational plan for peace? For advocating surrender to the madman who started the war? For insulting the hero who has been standing steadfast against Putin’s aggression and has been defending liberty and democracy?

What Campos-Duffy believes is “peace” is giving up land and treasure to the enemy in hopes that such compliance will stop him from demanding anything more. Which is not the case with most bullies.

That’s also what Trump believes. And when she says that Trump is “willing to do anything to bring about world peace,” she’s right, in a way. He’s willing to sink to any low in order to appease a brutal thug. And after laying down for the tyrant, get an award for advancing peace?

Trump likewise regards himself as a peacemaker. And he is still envious of President Obama who did receive a Nobel Peace Prize. Immediately following his ambush of Zelenskyy, Trump told a gaggle of right-wing “reporters” that…

“He’s gotta say, ‘I want to make PEACE. He doesn’t have to stand there and say about Putin this, Putin that. All negative things…He doesn’t have the cards.”

Trump thinks that President Zelenskyy should be nicer to Putin, who invaded his country and is massacring his people.And he asserts that Zelenskyy "doesn't have the cards." That isn't negotiating from strength. That's surrender.

Trump seems to think that Zelenskyy doesn’t want peace. Because if he did want it, he would be saying nice, positive things about Putin. What’s more, Trump repeated his defeatist assertion that Zelenskyy “doesn’t have the cards.” So the alleged author of “The Art of Deal” thinks that telling the other players that you have a lousy hand is an effective negotiating tactic. Particularly when that isn’t even true. Just fold and give your opponent the whole pot.

Lest anyone come away with the impression that Trump’s only allies are the Trump-fluffers on fox News, we need to appreciate that he is not alone. He also has support from some of the nastiest totalitarians on the planet, which is a club he is anxious to join. For instance…

The first month of Donald Trump’s reoccupation of the White House has been the sort of colossal calamity that many people predicted and warned about. But even with the expectation that he would preside over an unprecedented betrayal of American values, Trump manages to exceed even the worst forecasts by the most pessimistic observers.

To prove his prowess at screwing up the affairs of state, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, ostensibly to finalize an agreement to provide continued military assistance to Ukraine, in exchange for a ransom of Ukrainian minerals to satisfy Trump’s transactional greed. The meeting, however, did not go as planned. Or did it?

It did not take long for Trump to transform the diplomatic discussion into a verbal venting wherein Trump, lashed out with uncontrolled vitriol at Zelenskyy. Trump even veered off on a “Russia, Russia, Russia” rant, whining about his impeachment and prior conflicts with Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. Both Trump and his vice-president unleashed ugly attacks that had little to nothing to do with the purpose of the meeting. [The full video of the exchange is here, if you have the stomach for it]

Trump engaged in ego-driven blather, complaining that “You gotta be more thankful. Because, lemme tell you, you don’t have the cards.” He is typically focused on forcing people to pay undeserved homage to him. Vance joined in with a rather telling admission, saying that “I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the oval office and try to litigate this in front of the American media.”

That’s right. According to Vance, Zelenskyy is somehow at fault for Trump blowing up at him in front of the media that Trump invited. A suspicious cynic might surmise that Trump planned this Oval Office putsch in order to derail the $500 billion mineral deal that Trump might have recently learned was not as advantageous for Trump, and his client Russia, as he thought. As NBC News reported…

“According to a 2023 study by Forbes Ukraine, the country’s rare earth and other critical minerals could be worth as much as $14.8 trillion.” […and that…] “There are no current rare earth projects underway in Ukraine and experts say it will take years to get projects off the ground, possibly up to a decade.”

So Trump needed a a reason to ditch the deal. Preferably with witnesses. Which makes this a good time to point out the specific representatives of the press that Trump invited to this meeting. As media watchers know, the Trump regime has recently been making changes to the way they interact with the press. They have outright banned some outlets from covering the president, and have ended the century-long practice of having the independent White House Correspondents Association assign journalists to cover Trump and Company.

Consequently, longstanding, credible journalists from the Associated Press and Reuters were not allowed to cover the Zelenskyy meeting. However, extremist right-wing outlets were on the White House’s approved list. But that isn’t all. Russia’s own state news agency, TASS, somehow got into the room. At least until someone noticed…

Are we supposed to believe that the correspondent from TASS was just in the neighborhood and secretly slipped in behind the reporter from Newsmax? This meeting was not in the White House Press Briefing Room. It was the Oval Office. Can just anyone get in there without being credentialed or noticed? Or did Trump arrange for the Kremlin’s flack to snag a pass, and then deny any involvement when it became known? Will anyone else in the press ask that question?

Among the reporters who were approved was Brian Glenn of of the Trump-fluffing MAGA webnet, Real America’s Voice. He may be better known as Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend. He managed to get a question in about why Zelenskyy wasn’t wearing a suit. Funny… Glenn never asked Elon Musk why he attends Oval Office meetings in a t-shirt and baseball cap.

Trump’s Solicitor General Pick is Too Big a Fool or Coward to Say Whether He’s a Fool or Coward

The Cabinet that Donald Trump has assembled for his reoccupation of the White House is one that is populated by people who are profoundly incompetent crackpots, and whose primary qualifications for their jobs were that they were unflinchingly loyal to Trump and willing to abandon democracy and the Constitution on his behalf.

That’s how we ended up with Trump’s Defense Secretary (Pete Hegseth), who has zero experience at the Pentagon; his Health Secretary (RFK Jr), who doesn’t believe in vaccines; his National Security chief (Tulsi Gabbard), who has never worked in Intelligence; and his FBI director (Kash Patel), who has no experience in federal law enforcement. What Trump has plenty of is staffers that he recruited from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

On Wednesday, another of Trump’s nominees appeared before Congress for confirmation. John Sauer, Trump’s former personal criminal attorney, was questioned by the Senate Judiciary Committee for confirmation as Solicitor General, the person who represents the United States before the Supreme Court. During the hearing Sauer was asked a particularly probing question by Sen. Adam Schiff…

“The department moved to dismiss a corruption case against the mayor of New York. The acting Southern District of New York U.S. attorney refused to undertake an action that she believed was deeply unethical. So then it fell on her number two, Hagan Scotten, to do the dirty deed of dismissing this case. This is what he said:

“Any Assistant U.S. attorney would know our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials in this way. If no lawyer within earshot of the president is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool or enough of a coward to file your motion, but it was never going to be me.”

“My question to you, Mr. Sauer, would that be you? If it fell to you to dismiss that case. Would you be the coward or fool willing to dismiss that case on behalf of the president?”

Sauer declined to answer Schiff’s question, proving that he is, indeed, a fool and/or a coward. Although, Sauer does have at least some experience with the Supreme Court. He represented Trump in his immunity case that ended up with a ruling that put an end to the longstanding principle that, in America, no one is above the law. His arguments included some chilling notions. For instance, on whether the president can…

  • Order the assassination of a political opponent: “It would depend on the hypothetical, but we can see that could well be an official act.”
  • Order the military to stage a coup: “If one adopted the test we advanced, that might well be an official act.”
  • Assist in creating a fraudulent slate of electoral candidates: “Absolutely.”
  • Sell nuclear secrets to a foreign adversary: “If it’s structured as an official act.”

So the official position of Sauer – and therefore Trump – is that Trump has a right to assassinate his opponents, be they political, judges, journalists, or other citizens; to stage violent coups against the U.S. government; to undermine democracy by manufacturing slates of fake electors; and to sell nuclear secrets and other classified materials to Russia or any other unfriendly entity.

Sauer believes that Trump should be able to do all of that and more without any consequences, legally or otherwise. It’s a position for which there is no justification in the Constitution, or in morality. But it does support Trump’s craving to be an unchallenged dictator and president-for-life. Which is why
Trump nominated him in the first place. And Sauer is the fifth nominee that is a former Trump lawyer, along with Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche, Harmeet Dhillon, and Alina Habba. We are witnessing the construction of a machine intended to advance Trump’s tyrannical aspirations.

Which makes it all the more imperative for Democrats and other patriots to monkey wrench his treasonous machinery. And they better move quickly or it will be too late. Hitler managed to transform Germany’s democracy into his fascist regime in a little more than a month after seizing power.

Trump Declares Himself King of the White House Press Corps, Will Now Decide Who Can Question Him

For over a century, the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) has been responsible for setting the standards for reporters who cover the president. Their commitment to independence and professional journalism has ensured that the coverage of the White House and its occupants would be both tough and fair.

From its inception, the mission of the WHCA has been to “share the belief, held by our country’s Founders and enshrined in the First Amendment, that an independent news media is vital to the health of the republic.” It is, in fact, the only way to ensure that the interests of the people are being served. Unfortunately, Donald Trump doesn’t agree. And he has dispatched his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, to see to the dismantling of the White House press corps.

As evidence of this betrayal of American principles and the Constitution, Leavitt, made an announcement on Wednesday that further erodes any pretense by the Trump administration to value the free press. She said that…

“As you all know, a group of D.C.-based journalists, the White House Correspondents Association, has long dictated which journalists get to ask questions of the President of the United States in these intimate spaces, Not anymore. I am proud to announce that we are giving the power back to the people who read your papers, who watch your television shows, and who listen to your radio stations. Moving forward, the White House press pool, will be determined by the White House Press Team.”

First of all, Leavitt is engaging in the sort of disinformation that is the hallmark of the Trump regime. The WHCA does not “dictate which journalists get to ask questions of the President.” They evaluate the credentials of White House correspondents, and approve those who meet the high standards that warrant access to the halls of power. It is a merit based system that the White House is permitted to participate in.

More to the point, Leavitt’s decree that the WHCA will no longer perform the function that they have been fulfilling admirably for decades is a spine-chilling imitation of how the media is oppressed under the thumb of Vladimir Putin’s Politburo. She isn’t “giving the power back to the people.” She’s giving it to the wannabe dictator who regularly maligns the press as “the enemy of the people.”

This change means that Trump and his flunkies will decide who gets to ask him questions. And their recent decrees in that regard have been guided by their flagrant biases and vengefulness. It could not be more obvious that they intend to censor all those who are not adoringly worshipful of Trump. They have already replaced longstanding media outlets like NBC News, the New York Times, and NPR, with One America News Network, the New York Post, and Breitbart News. These are not exactly icons of journalistic integrity.

The WHCA responded to this authoritarian decree in a statement saying that…

“This move tears at the independence of a free press in the United States. It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president. In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps.” – Eugene Daniels, White House Correspondents’ Association president.

Trump himself weighed in on the issue saying that…

“We’re gonna be now calling those shots. As you know, we won that lawsuit right there, see the Gulf of America, which is a beautiful name. Most people agree.

“AP has been terrible. I think they’re radical left. I think they’re third rate reporters. I know the specific young lady that works on the account is terrible. she’s a radical left lunatic, as far as I’m concerned.”

So Herr Trump is bragging that he will be “calling the shots” from now on. And to reinforce his tyrannical tendencies, he insults the White House correspondent for the Associated Press in his familiar infantile fashion.

Elaborating on his malicious attack, Trump referred to his banning of the AP because they refused to bow down to his order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico in their international editions, where he has no authority to change geographical names. He did not win any lawsuit on the matter. It is scheduled to be heard next month by a judge who appears to be leaning toward the view that Trump is in violation of the Constitution.

While Trump may be able to forbid honest journalists from asking him question in his Washington and Palm Beach bunkers, he cannot stop them from asking questions in their own reporting. However, he may find that the conspicuous absence of his lie-riddled answers will only make his autocracy-driven cowardice more obvious, and eventually, more injurious to his already rotten reputation.

OH-NO! Trump WH Aide Brags They are Running the Country Like Trump and Musk Run Their Businesses

Never let it be said that Donald Trump hasn’t been upfront about his intentions in governing the United States. Well, except for all the times that he promised (aka lied) to eliminate the debt, and preserve Social Security, and end every foreign war, and offer a better healthcare plan, and bring companies back to America, and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure, and, ultimately, to make America great.

But other than that, Trump has indeed been forthright about his aspirations for authoritarian rule, his affinity for foreign dictators, his blueprint to make himself and his wealthy pals richer, his determination to foul the environment, opposition to reproductive choice, his determination to suppress the free press that he despises, and his preference for golf, television, and the celebrity life to the hard work of governing.

Trump’s White House staff adoringly lives up to the working example that he sets for dishonesty and shallowness in his administration. And no one better exemplifies his model of slothery than his White House Counsel, and former parking lot lawyer, Alina Habba. Despite her titular role as a legal aide, Habba spends most of her time as a MAGA spokesmodel on Fox News, where she was Tuesday morning saying this…

“This is what we’re about. We’re running this county like President Trump runs the Trump Organization. Like Elon Musk running X. That’s what we’re doing. And if you want your budget balanced, if you want to not have a deficit, who better to do so than a businessman who understands how to make money, how to spend money, and how to get out of debt. And that’s what we’re gonna do.”

HOLY SHIH TZU! Not that. Anything but that. Habba is promising that Trump will run the country the way he and Musk run their businesses. Unfortunately, it’s well known that Trump has been an absolutely dreadful businessman. He bankrupted four casinos. He headed up a long list of consumer products failures, including steaks, air travel, vodka, magazines, board games, and more. Even his real estate ventures are flops, with many just being licensing deals for his name, which has been removed from several of them to avoid the taint of his toxic association.

It is impossible to talk about Trump’s alleged business without noting the monumental failure of his Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT). Its share price has declined 60% from its high in the past year. It declined 40% just since his inauguration a month ago. And the cryptocurrency coin he launched a couple of days before his inauguration has cratered 80%. Virtually everyone who has invested in a Trump enterprise has lost bigly. Except, of course, for Trump.

As for Musk, he paid $44 billion for Twitter a little more than two years ago. Now, as a private company, it is valued at about $12.3 billion, a loss of 72%. Even his flagship Tesla has lost a bundle, dropping from $480 per share in mid December, to about $300.00, a decline of 37%. And his phony Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has proven to be drag on the economy with thousands of job losses, and even cuts to revenue generating agencies like the IRS.

What’s more, Trump’s pre-election pledges to improve the nation’s economy have all proven to be more of his trademark bluster and bullpucky. Rather than eliminating inflation, increasing manufacturing, and lowering prices for everything from eggs to gasoline, things have been going in the opposite direction. Consumer confidence is plummeting. Consumers are expecting a recession. And retail sales are falling.

So what Trump and Habba are actually promising now is more of the same disastrous mismanagement that has hobbled their personal businesses. Consequently, comments like those by Habba on Fox News sound more like threats than promises.

MSNBC Dramatically Alters its Schedule, While Trump Falters His Pathetically Infantile Rebuttal

Last week MSNBC announced that was making some changes in their schedule. Among them was the cancelation of Joy Reid’s “The Reidout.” That news was met with disapproval and disappointment from longtime fans of Reid and loyal viewers of the network.

Donald Trump, Woman, Fear

This week MSNBC elaborated on their schedule changes. And the news has both pluses and minuses. Which in itself is problematic, There is no time for minuses. These are times that demand a staunch commitment to progressive media and the voices that will resist the all too apparent march toward totalitarianism by Donald Trump and his StormTrumpers. We don’t need a press corps that mirrors the one that Trump favors in Moscow.

The news from MSNBC reveals more of what the lineup will look like in the coming weeks. The most notable changes are the previously announced departure of Joy Reid, and moving Jen Psaki to weekday primetime Tuesday-Friday. Rachel Maddow will continue on Mondays after the first 100 days of the Trump Regime.

Additionally, the current cast of “The Weekend” Alicia Menendez, Michael Steele, and Symone Sanders-Townsend), will move to weekdays at 7:00pm ET. The old Weekend show will get three new anchors, including Jonathan Capehart. A second version of “The Weekend” will air later in the day with Ayman Mohyeldin as one of the co-hosts. His solo show will end. As will “José Díaz-Balart Reports” and “The Katie Phang Show.” Both of them will remain with the network.

Among others remaining, Ali Velshi will expand his weekend show to three hours. Ana Cabrera, Chris Jansing, and Katy Tur will all add an hour to their weekday programs.

It is impossible not to notice that all of the canceled programs were those with people of color as hosts (Reid, Capehart, Mohyeldin, Phang). However, it would be premature to conclude from that that prejudice was the primary reason for the cuts. Some of the new programming also features people of color (Capehart, Mohyeldin, Sanders-Townsend, Steele), albeit in shared roles that are not fully disclosed yet.

Meanwhile, Trump was busy ignoring any presidential duties that he hasn’t yet delegated to his co-president, Elon Musk. He was up late Sunday night whining petulantly about MSNBC on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. He raged in his hallmark infantile fashion about “Lowlife Chairman of ‘Concast,’ Brian Roberts,” “mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid,” “seriously failing Rachel Maddow,” and “LOW IQ Con Man, Al Sharpton.” Then he closed his rant saying that…

“This whole corrupt operation is nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party. They should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they’ve done to our Country. Fake News is an UNPARDONABLE SIN!”

If Trump were truly concerned about biased media in the service of political parties, why hasn’t he said anything about his Ministry of Propaganda – and primary pool for recruiting his administration’s staff – Fox News? However, this isn’t the first time that wannabe dictator Trump has decreed that MSNBC, and other credible media, is somehow engaged in illegal activities and shouldn’t be allowed to exist. For instance…

Trump’s tantrums over the free press that he regularly maligns as “the enemy of the people,” is not surprising. It is, however, disgusting and deeply un-American. But unfortunately, it is a noxious excretion that we cannot avoid for the time being.

What we should be able to avoid is betrayals by the media whose mandate is to truthfully inform the people. And at present, outlets such as MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and others are letting us, and the nation – and the world – down. It is up to us to make sure they know where they are failing.
