Trump VP Hopeful, Stefanik, Goes Whacko When Fox News Reminds Her She Called Him a ‘Whack Job’

The race for who will be Donald Trump’s vice-presidential running mate is getting more heated as the election cycle proceeds. Names like Kristi Noem, Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, Vivek Ramaswamy, Byron Donalds, Kari Lake, and JD Vance, have all been floated. And every one of them have been less than subtle about their craving to be chosen to be the next Mike Pence, whose loyalty to Trump nearly got him hanged.

Donald Trump, Woman, Fear

That sort of unflinching fealty to Dear Leader Trump is on full display by the prospective veeps. And for the most part, Fox News is playing its role in helping Trump to decide which contestant will get the rose. One Fox News host, Mark Levin, has gone so as far to deliver a blatant ultimatum to Trump himself with regard to who he might select…

SEE THIS: Blurring the Lines: Fox News Host Warns Trump: Do Not Choose a VP Who Won’t Appear on My Show

On Sunday, Fox News host Shannon Bream interviewed one of the top tier candidates, Elise Stefanik (NY-MAGA), about her aspirations to be Trump’s running mate (video below). Bream noted that Stefanik was among the Republicans who had abandoned their duties in Washington to join Trump’s cheering section at his criminal trial in Manhattan. Then Bream brought up a New York Times article wherein Stefanik was revealed to have been a harsh Trump critic when he first announced his candidacy. Bream said that…

“They say you called him a whack job at one point. They added this: ‘In August 2015 she told a New York radio station that he was insulting to women and that his candidacy would hurt the party’s efforts to attract female voters. According to her former friends,’ they continue, she thought ‘Mr. Trump was too awful and ridiculous to be taken seriously.'”

That’s an opinion that was shared by many Republicans (e.g. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, etc.) prior to their becoming indoctrinated into the Trump cult. Shaken by being confronted with her own views, Stefanik led her response by lashing out at Bream for having the gall to quote actual associates of Stefanik to whom she revealed her aversion to Trump. Stefanik raged that…

“This is a, this is a false smear. And let me tell you a fact. In 2016, I was attacked as the only elected Republican from the Northeast who voted for President Trump. Democrats spent hundreds of thousands of dollars attacking me for that fact. So to say that I didn’t support him is just false. I have been proud to be one of his strongest supporters.”[Adding that] “It’s a disgrace that you would take a New York Times article and just read negative quotes.”

That’s right! How dare Bream ask Stefanik to account for things that she actually said. Especially since Stefanik is such a proud, unquestioning, glassy-eyed disciple of the Trump cult, whose support is all consuming and never ending.

Bream then asked Stefanik about whether she had said that Trump was “insulting to women,” and that his candidacy would hurt the party’s efforts to attract female voters. Stefanik admitted that she had said it, but complained that it had been “leaked out” by Democrats. Which doesn’t change the fact that she said it at all. She went on to say that she, nevertheless, stood by him, despite his grossly misogynistic insults.

It’s a rare phenomenon to see a Republican get grilled by Fox News. But when it happens it generally winds up with the Republican whining about being treated unfairly by the notoriously GOP friendly network. They never seem to be able to take responsibility for their own prior remarks or behavior. Which is a character trait they may have picked up from Trump, whose entire public life has served as a masterclass in dodging responsibility, denying reality, and lying about his own past. And in that respect, Stefanik is good learner.

SRSLY? House Squeaker McCarthy Brags on Fox News About the ‘Diversity’ of the Republican Party

The spanking new – and precariously narrow – Republican majority in the House of Representatives is off to an entirely predictable stumbling start. After taking a historic fifteen votes to crown their so-called leader, Kevin McCarthy, they immediately passed a rules package that neutered him, insuring that he will be a weaker Speaker than any of his modern predecessors.

Kevin McCarthy, House Speaker (Squeaker)

Naturally, the first priority of a Republican politician intent on pedaling positive propaganda, is to book a visit with Sean Hannity of Fox News. Which is precisely what McCarthy did Tuesday night. He brought along twenty of his closest comrades to turn the Capitol into a Fox News studio annex. And even though McCarthy had previously showered his lord and savior, Donald Trump, with gratitude, Trump was apparently too busy spinning lies about President Biden to join them.

Undeterred, McCarthy took full advantage of the platform that Hannity provided to disseminate Republican ignorance and lies. And true to form, McCarthy exhibited his utterly shameless ability to put into, what marginally passes for English, a perspective of the world that bears no resemblance to reality. For instance, he sat proudly in silence as Hannity praised him for expanding the “diversity” of the Republican Party.

“One of the things I’d like to see and am seeing is more diversity in the Republican Party. To me the Democratic Party is the party of coastal elites.”

Elaborating on that, McCarthy’s chair of the House Republican Conference, Elise Stefanik, said to…

“Take a look around at these wonderful members. This is the most diverse class of Republicans ever elected in the history of the United States Congress.”

Go ahead. Take a look around. The members gathered to celebrate “the most diverse class of Republicans ever elected” are all white, and with just three exceptions, men. In fact, the 117th session of Congress had 58 Black members, of whom 56 were Democrats. Republicans just doubled their Black members in the new 118th session to four. And they’re proud of that?

As for Hannity’s boasting about this pitiful representation by people of color, his lament about “coastal elites” is painfully hypocritical. Hannity divides his residency between his homes in New York and Florida. And he’s whining about these nefarious coast dwellers to McCarthy, who represents a district in California.

For good measure, Hannity invited McCarthy to further embarrass himself by bringing up the issue of the debt ceiling, which Republicans have promised to exploit in order to blackmail Democrats into acceding to GOP demands to cut Social Security and Medicare. That led to this exchange…

Hannity: Now let’s get to the issue of finances and money and spending. Why don’t explain how this process now will be different, and we’re coming up against the debt ceiling vote and what that’s gonna mean. That might be the first test of how committed the Republican Party in the House is to really holding the line on spending. Am I wrong on that?
McCarthy: No, you’re not wrong on that. One of the greatest threats we have for this nation is our debt. It makes us weak in every place that we can. We have never been at this high of debt to GDP except during World War II. And what are we funding? Wasteful Washington spending much of the time.

“So we think if you had a child and you gave him a credit card, and they kept hitting the limit, do you just increase the limit, or do you change their behavior? This is our moment to change the behavior to make sure that hard working taxpayer, that we’re not wasting their money. Do you mean to tell me there’s not waste out there? So we’re gonna look at every single dollar spent. We’re gonna audit. We’re change our behavior so we can balance our budget and make us stronger.

The child with a credit card analogy is flat out ridiculous. Raising the debt ceiling does not impact in any way whatsoever how much money congress can appropriate. It only makes it possible for the Treasury to pay debts already incurred. If the U.S. defaults on those debts it would send the nation – and the world – into a severe recession or worse. If McCarthy were truly interested in reducing the debt, he would do what Biden and the Democrats have been doing that resulted in the deficit declining by $1.4 trillion last year.

For the record, Trump increased the debt by nearly $8 trillion dollars. Much of that was due to his tax cut that benefited corporations and the wealthy. And now McCarthy and the GOP are proposing to defund the IRS and deprive the agency of necessary resources to audit high income individuals and businesses. That is estimated to cost more than $114 billion dollars.

What’s more, Republicans don’t seem eager to “change their behavior.” They aren’t proposing any serious spending cuts, other than those for the safety net programs that middle and lower income Americans rely on. Meanwhile, they continue to push for even more tax cuts and for maintaining subsidies for wealthy, multinational corporations – who don’t pay taxes.

Then, after running up the debt, Republicans want to default on those obligations after the fact. It almost seems like they are deliberately trying to crash the economy during Biden’s presidency and prior to the 2024 presidential election. Now why do you suppose they would want to do that? and for whom?

Fox News Legal ‘Expert’ Thinks that ‘Trial of Your Peers’ Means a Jury of All Trump Toadies

The Trump-fluffers at Fox News are clearly starting to worry about the fate of their Dear Leader Donald Trump. They are beginning to shift their propaganda from malicious mockery of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection incited by Trump, to outright contempt for the American justice system.

Fox News, Constitution

There is no clearer sign that Fox News is worried about Trump’s legal peril than their frantic criticism of the courts that will hear his cases. They appear to be accepting the likelihood that Trump will be indicted and that he will have to face a judge and jury to account for his multitude of crimes that run the gamut from financial fraud to sedition.

RELATED: Trump’s Reelection Campaign is Stealing Millions of his Donors’ Dollars for His Legal Bills

Mark Levin is a weekend Fox News host who was once an attorney. He served as chief of staff to disgraced Reagan Attorney General, Edwin Meese. His Fox program is a weekly hour of lies and hate in the service of Trumpism. And this weeks episode was a perfect example of just how low this shameless sycophant will go. In a segment devoted to absolving Trump of any wrongdoing, Levin unleashed a bizarre mangling of legal analysis, saying that…

“If you have a trial and the jury is made up of individuals out of a pool of overwhelmingly partisan Democrats who voted for the opposition – who either voted for Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden – and you have a former president or his surrogates facing that jury, how in the hell are they gonna get a fair trial?

“This whole thing is rigged. It’s a disgrace. From this Committee, to the U.S. Attorney, to the Attorney General of the United States, to the so-called Justice process in Washington, D.C. Why don’t they hold it, if they’re gonna hold it anywhere else, in Utah, or Idaho, or some place like that? No, that would never happen.”

It’s hard to imagine that this cretin ever practiced law. He has no idea what the concept of a “jury of your peers” means. Apparently Levin believes that a defendant should be allowed to select his jurors based on their affinity for the defendant. That’s why the only place he thinks Trump could get a fair trial is in a place like Idaho. That’s not how it works. A jury of peers, in this context, means members of the community where the crime took place. It doesn’t mean a group of those who voted for you.

It isn’t a coincidence that Levin, in his criticism of the justice system, is parroting the language that Trump uses. He asserts, without evidence, that it is “rigged” and a “disgrace.” You could easily mistake his complaints for any random Trump rant about the 2020 presidential election that he lost. And despite Levin’s whining about this trumped up travesty of justice, you know that he would be outraged if a Democrat insisted that a trial be moved to a precinct of lefties in a staunchly blue state.

Levin followed up that perversion of legal principles with an interview of the Chair of the House Republican Conference, Elise Stefanik. Her grasp of the law was no better than Levin’s In the suck-up interview, Stefanik recklessly accused President Biden and his family of being criminals, despite not having a shred of evidence to back up that charge:

“You have the entire Joe Biden family profiting personally off of Joe Biden’s position when he was a sitting vice-president. That is unacceptable in America and imagine if the Republicans ever did that? Democrats would be investigating every aspect of that. And yet in this case they look the other way on all these shameful, shameless, and illegal controversies of Hunter Biden.”

Once again, neither Stefanik, nor any other Republican shill, can produce any proof of any crime by the Bidens. They just relentlessly repeat the allegation in the hope that it sticks and tarnishes their reputations. And the gall of her invitation to “imagine if the Republicans ever did that,” is mind-boggling, considering all of the documented financial improprieties of Trump, Don Jr, Eric, and Ivanka. They were actually prohibited by law from running any charities in New York after being found to have robbed their phony foundation to line their own pockets.

Stefanik went on to disparage the January 6th Committee, which she called (of course) a “witch hunt.” And she complained that Republicans had no ability to appoint members to the Committee, which is a blatant lie. They chose not to appoint any members so that they could later pretend that the Committee was partisan.

There is an unmistakable stench of defeat in how Fox News and the Republican Party are reconfiguring their strategy to account for the likelihood of Trump indictments. They know that he’s guilty and they are scrambling to find a way to spin it. But the only thing that they are succeeding in doing is to make Trump look more guilty, and themselves more ignorant and desperate.
