Dotard Trump Tries to Attack Gov. Wes Moore By Linking to an Article that Actually Praises Him

Nothing is more predictable in modern politics than the barrage of belligerence by Donald Trump aimed at his perceived enemies and political foes. It doesn’t take much to set him off, and when it happens it generally results in a typically asinine assault that is brimming with unbridled hostility.

Donald Trump Pacifier Fox

Just such an incident took place on Wednesday when Trump was triggered by…well, god knows what causing him to take some wild swings at Maryland Governor Wes Moore. It may have been due to something Moore said in an interview, or just Trump letting off some of the seething steam that is ever present in his curmudgeonly cranium. He doesn’t really need, or have, a legitimate reason.

The attack on Gov. Moore was a peculiar little tirade that was something less than coherent. Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that even his most devoted cult followers might have found indecipherable. In a 2:12 AM comment Trump wrote only

“But is that the end of his political career. He was very disrespectful to the Office of the President!”

That’s it! Trump didn’t bother to give any context to his comment other than a link to an article in The Hill. He didn’t mention whose political career he thinks should be ending or how he was disrespectful. But for anyone who clicked through to the article they would have found a story – that was published a year ago – about Gov. Moore. And for the most part, it was pretty positive. It described Moore as…

“…a rising star in the Democratic Party, served in the Army Reserve between 1996 and 2014. He was deployed to Afghanistan in August 2005 through March 2006. Though he has won multiple awards for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, he stated on a 2006 application for the White House Fellowship that his service won him the award of a Bronze Star.”

WOW! So Moore is a patriot who served his country honorably, with distinction and courage. And Trump, a five time draft dodger who insults fallen warriors as “suckers” and “losers” has a problem with that?

Apparently what Trump is perturbed about is the Bronze Star matter. But the article went on to offer Moore’s explanation that he was advised to include the Bronze Star commendation in the White House Fellowship application by his commander, who made the recommendation for the medal and assured him that he would receive it. However, the paperwork didn’t go through properly and the commendation didn’t become official at that time.

The general who made the original recommendation didn’t learn about the paperwork snafu until recently, then corrected the mistake and the medal was finally awarded in 2024. So the Army’s acknowledgement of Moore’s heroism was truthful and is now a part of his record. Which Trump likely knows, or should know. As for Moore, he is on record having responded to this matter, noting that the disparagement of patriots has long been a part of the Republican Party’s political attack plan.

“Over the last few weeks, our country has grown used to seeing what it looks like when a veteran’s integrity is attacked for political gain. But those who seek to cast doubt on our records misunderstand something fundamental about true patriots, who have put on the flag of our country and put everything on the line to be called Americans: We don’t get shaken. We put our heads down, and we do the work. And that is what I will continue to do.”

Trump’s dishonest and infantile attack on Moore is consistent with his prior remarks about the Governor. Last week Trump flagrantly lied that Moore had told Trump that he was “the greatest president of my lifetime” when they met at an Army/Navy football game. Anyone with mere common sense and an attachment to reality would have known that that was false.

However, just to put an even finer point on it, a video dug up by Fox News (yeah, Fox News) proves that Trump was lying. And not just about the flattery that never occurred, but also about the accusation that Moore was “very disrespectful to the Office of the President!”?

Trump’s imaginary friend. Fox News airs video proving Trump is a liar. Maryland Governor Wes Moore never said to Trump, “You’re the greatest president of my lifetime” upon meeting him at football game, as Trump claims.
