NAUSEATING: Fox News Absolves Cop Killer Of Responsibility For Murders

Conservatives have long portrayed themselves as the voices of personal responsibility. They insist that the traditional values encompassed by patriotism and faith demand that individuals be accountable for their actions. But when it comes to the brutal assassination of two New York police officers, Fox News exploits the tragedy to lay the blame on innocent people that they regard as political adversaries.

The blinding hatred that Fox News has for New York Mayor Bill De Blasio and Al Sharpton doesn’t justify splashing the blood of dead officers on people who had no part in their demise. Other cretinous pundits have gone so far as to indict President Obama for this horror. The only thing that sort of vile and false condemnation achieves is to reveal the rancid bigotry of the accuser.

The butcher who assassinated two NYPD officers yesterday was a deeply disturbed and violent man with a long record of criminality. And despite news reports that sensationalized a few comments on social media that referenced Eric Garner and Michael Brown, his motives are still not clear. He may indeed have had opinions as to the injustices in those cases (as did millions of righteous Americans), but it is impossible to spin his shooting of his girlfriend in Baltimore prior to traveling to New York as part of a vendetta against the police. Plainly there is something else that is darkly lurking beneath the surface of this still unfolding drama.

One thing for certain is that the only person responsible for the murders is the perpetrator. It is wholly inappropriate to shift the blame to others who are just as repulsed by this as those feverishly pointing their sanctimonious fingers in other directions. That sort of flailing rebuke not only slanders the targets, it pardons the guilty. And it is particularly disgusting when the intent is such a brazen act of partisan politics.

You have to wonder why there was no similar condemnation of the treasonous Tea Party brigades that flocked to Nevada to defend tax cheat Cliven Bundy. Among their ranks were a couple who later went to Las Vegas and executed two police officers as they ate their lunch in a diner. The Tea Party cop killers failed to meet the Fox News criteria for condemnation because they were a white, Christian couple from Indiana. Consequently, Fox quickly dropped the story without any sermonizing about responsibility.

On the other hand, right-wingers were quick to mock Garner and Brown, for whom rallying cries reflected their final moments with utterances of “Hands up, don’t shoot,” and “I can’t breathe.” These unintentional epitaphs became fodder for the conservative martinets of virtue to disregard the human tragedies and shift the blame to vague criticisms of black culture, families, and values. The spokesmen for these deliberate distractions were paraded across Fox News along with the absurd and insensitive notion that the victims caused their own deaths. The conservative viewpoint was that responsibility for their fates was their own and that the people protesting ought to accept that as a fact.

Now, suddenly, responsibility is no longer attributable to an obvious offender, but is shamelessly cast on perceived enemies. It’s such a Christian thing to do in this season of peace and goodwill. And it’s just another hypocrisy by malicious jackasses who care more about their own spiteful prejudices than the very real losses suffered by both police officers and citizens whose lives are stolen too soon and without reason.

  1. Funny to hear liberal luntics bash their standard. Obama, libs, and state run media never have a logical argument to defend their positions so they lie and attack the person making the reasonable argument. The hypocrisy of this article is laughable. Liberals are the most deplorable people on the planet.

    • Hypocrisy? You are about a big an ass as are the Fox “newscasters”, blaming everyone other than the crazy man is the height of stupidity. If the same number of unarmed whites were killed by black cops Fox would be leading the charge to get every black cop kicked off all police forces

  2. Oh my gosh, another race to the bottom for Mark. First of all, you and the rest of the left-wing thug brigade were singing an entirely different tune back in January 2011 when you did your best to try and blame the Gabby Giffords shooting on Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party. We all saw how that turned out for your side. Your hypocrisy vomits to the top once again.

No conservative out there has absolved the gunman of this crime. But they have pointed out how badly Bill Deblasio has thrown his own police force under the bus. You’ve seen the video of those cops turning their backs on Deblasio, haven’t you? I give them a lot more credibility in this issue than I will any left-wing punk.

You also didn’t pay attention the Eric Garner case. On that, even conservatives are saying they think the grand jury’s decision was wrong.

    “…rancid bigotry of the accuser…”

Wrong again. We instead have the rancid hate of a blogger.

    • Furthermore, let’s not forget how the peaceful protests in New York started to go south after a few days. To wit: That disgusting march by a hundred anarchists chanting, “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!” Sadly, those walking piles of dog manure got their wish.

      • Yes let’s not also forget the racists who were also demonstrating in the tea party and “oppose obama” marches with their racist signs.

See Scott, you WILLINGLY associate anarchists, whose goal is to stir up trouble (and you call them anarchists above) yet you and yours get all butthurt over people calling the tea party racist because racists march with them with their racist messages as well!!!!

If you’re going to accept such a narrative as the one you put forward above, I’m going to expect you to call the tea part racists on the same grounds.

    • The thing about the Gabby Giffords shooting? The shooter WAS influenced by right wing sentiments coming from these guys. She was a POLITICAL target as part of that resentment too, in this case, what does the killing have to do with De Blaiso or Sharpton? No connection yet, but that’s not good enough for the screamers on the right, no they HAVE to pin it on someone they don’t like! BTW, neither Sharpton nor De Blaison have called for the deaths of cops either, so how do you figure that they are to blame for this?

Let’s take a look at the bigger picture though, or rather, the stuff raised above you pointedly IGNORED, which is the hypocrisy from the right. Quite a few of you trolls have been raising this incident….without bothering to look back at a similar incident when tea party fanatics killed a cop as well. That was mentioned above. Fox dropped the story so quickly like it was a hot potato, yet here, they, and the likes of you, are EAGER to assign blame on people you don’t like simply because you can! Take note that the murder was based on right wing extremist sentiments on “the coming revolution” whatever that means, so clearly right wing extremism was indeed behind those killings.

None of that was discussed here however, no. The gunman’s crime was blamed on De Blaiso and Sharpton though, without actually any due argument t about why that’s the case!

You guys sure don’t absolve others of their crime….by blaming it on others without due evidence! This isn’t the first time it’s happened either.

The real crux of this issue is the poutrage from Fox blaming the whole movement stemming from the Garner and Brown incidents. It’s clearly an attempt by right wingers to try to blame ANYONE who was critical of police actions in both those instances, as well as those who have spoken for seeking justice for those 2 individuals. Of course this finger pointing avoids the crux of both issues very conveniently, likely because right wingers DON’T want those issues addressed. In Garners case he was still choked to death on VIDEO by a police officer using an ILLEGAL chokehold, in Brown’s case, the prosecutor has admitted that he put up witnesses that he knew beforehand were not reliable or outright in his laughable excuse that he wanted to “present all the evidence to the jurors” (lies and untruthful statements cannot be considered evidence). The movements that have formed in the wake of these incidents are seeking justice done and also a review of police methods that statistics have shown are skewed towards violent reactions towards black suspects. Both Obama and De Blaiso have called upon a review of police methods under such circumstances to ensure greater closure and transparency in the event such incidents occur in the future.

none of them have talked about killing cops, or even being “anti-cop”, the whole thing about them being “anti-cop” is a characterization from Fox hews and the right wing media.

It’ something that haters like you won’t eve bother to question since the narrative fits your ideals.

      • When racists show up at Tea Party events, they are told they’re not welcome 99% of the time. Anarchists are never told that at left-wing protests, and they show up at nearly every one of them.

      • You are lying about the Gabby Giffords shooting. That story line about Loughner being influenced by right-wing stuff was debunked 4 days into the shooting. Loughner never listened to talk radio, never watched the news and worshipped a skull in his back yard. He was insane.
I am not the hater. You are – and so is Mark.

        • Scott, I wouldn’t bother – they can only dish it out, pointing the mirror at them is verboten. Civil discourse is defined by left wingers as “agreement with us is the only truth, all other statements are hateful, racist, or whatever else they can come up with. ” They work very hard at crafting every situation to keep the stink off them – even if it means living in that delusional bubble they clearly inhabit. I expect they will wake up some day – I think it’s too late for Mark though.

  3. Posted to MMFA’s Right Wing Media thread at 8:31p. CST with the title as the tease.

  4. Using the logic of those demanding Bill DeBlasio’s resignation over this, Sean Hannity and many in right-wing hate-radio have a lot to answer for in the killings of the two Police Officers in Las Vegas by the cretins who were on the Bundy Ranch before they committed this crime.

  5. “One thing for certain is that the only person responsible for the murders is the perpetrator.”

You are exactly right in that statement – it would be nice if you could apply it uniformly in political discourse – but of course that thought only enters your mind when you can’t tag a horrible act such as this on some right wing group in an attempt to support your crazy version of what is good for society. You can split hairs all day to make sure you get the blame on your political enemies/adversaries – this is nothing new here….you and fox use the same tactics constantly, you just refuse to see it.
