Among the symptoms of Trump’s illness is his invention of events that clearly have never happened. They include his insistence that he is winning his reckless and illegal war against Iran; his repetition that he has produced an economic “golden age”; and his hallucinations of Marxists around every corner, including those who are vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool.

This weekend Trump was busying himself with the critical presidential duty of rage-posting on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social. Among the dishonest proclamations and loony self-exalting memes, Trump dropped a comment that was an especially disturbing example of his cognitive collapse. He ranted in part that…

“My REAL Polling Numbers, not those made up by the Fake News Media, are the best they have ever been. […] Don’t believe the Radical Left’s Fake Poll numbers. They are Crooked and Corrupt, just like the Country Destroying Dumocrats are Crooked and Corrupt.”

Trump didn’t bother to provide a link to any of the “REAL Polling Numbers” that are allegedly “the best they have ever been.” But in his defense, that’s only because they don’t exist. A quick glance at the RealClear Politics listing of recent polls reveals the reality that Trump is so far removed from.

It’s notable that every single one of those polls found that a substantial majority of Americans (up to 66%) disapprove of Trump. The average of the polls have Trump more than 19 points underwater. And that’s even with the inclusion of several polls produced by blatantly right-wing operations. Apparently Trump is lumping Fox News, Rasmussen, etc., in with all of the “Radical Left, Crooked and Corrupt, Country Destroying, Fake News, Dumocrats.”

Trump demands that these polls are not to be believed. But he doesn’t offer up any others that he vouches for as believable. Although he does provide some pretty good reasons for his high disapproval in the list of things that that he claims to have accomplished. He cites as his “successes” his work on taxes, jobs, immigration, Iran, and “respect throughout the world.” None of which has been remotely successful. And the American people know that. In fact, Trump is polling negatively on every one of those individual issues.

This isn’t the first time that Trump has claimed to have his highest polling ever. Last month he said the same thing, boasting about having 65% approval. Once again, he didn’t link to any such poll. The poll that he did link to had him at 50%, and even that was by a notoriously biased conservative pollster.

You have to wonder who these comments are aimed at. Does anyone outside of his MAGA cult believe them? Although there is an interpretation of Trump’s comment that is actually accurate. He says that his polling numbers “are the best they have ever been.” So if by “best” he means highest, and by “numbers” he means disapproval, he’s right. These are currently the highest disapproval numbers he’s ever had. But get too attached. It’s very likely that new highs will be released next week.

Lara Trump Brags on Fox News that Donald Trump Got Gas Prices Down – By Screwing Up on COVID!

One of the best indicators of how devoted Fox News is to an ideology is the presence of Trump’s Daughter-in-Lawlessness, Lara Trump, as a host of her own show on the network. For an alleged news enterprise that once brandished the slogan “fair and balanced,” it’s a steep fall from the already low bar they had set for themselves. They even sunk so low as to have Lara interview her Sugardaddy-in-Law on her show.

On Saturday Lara took on the additional duty of guest-hosting Fox and Friends. During that episode she openly admitted that she and Fox News are not independent journalists, but instead are partisan representatives of the Republican Party. She said that…

“As Republicans, we need to do a better job of reminding the American people what this president and what this party has done for the economy. Don’t forget that under Joe Biden we saw an over 9% inflation, it’s at 3.5% right now. You look at the energy policy of this president. That has been monumental for bringing costs down. Obviously you see gas prices aren’t perfect right now, but don’t forget, $1.77 a gallon during Trump one. We know he knows how to get us there. We have the higher gas prices right now because of Iran.”

There you have it. Lara spoke “As Republicans, we need to do a better job…” Then she enumerated what she believed to be the failures of President Biden and the successes of the GOP under the guidance of Papa Trump. And true to form, she brazenly lied. For instance, while inflation did rise to 9.1% during Biden’s term, he brought it down to 3% by the time he handed off the office to Trump. Since then, Trump has presided over an increase in inflation to 3.5%.

However, perhaps the worst part of Lara’s commentary was her boasting about Trump’s alleged ability to bring gas prices down. She offered as proof the fact that during his first term gas prices declined to $1.77 per gallon. So according to Lara, “he knows how to get us there.”

Which is great to know. All he has to do now is horribly mismanage another pandemic like COVID and gas will once again be affordable. Because that was what happened during Trump’s first term that resulted in $1.77/gallon gas. And it only cost a few more than a million American lives.

In Trump’s second term he appears to be heading the opposite direction. Instead of killing a million Americans in order to bring gas prices down, he’s killing Iranians in order to get gas prices up. If there is some logic in that strategy, it is lost on American consumers, who are also being burdened with higher prices for everything else due to his idiotic and inflationary tariffs.

Lara went on in her commentary to further align herself and her Fox News colleagues with the Republican Party. She added that…

“I think we need to do a better job of messaging that. Because if you leave it up to the legacy media they’re gonna continue to hammer this president on Iran. A situation that, thank God, he’s tackling because no one else would. But I think that’s something we need to hear more from the RNC and the Republicans on.”

So Lara is shamelessly serving as the de facto communications boss of the Republican Party, and doling out advice that she thinks will help their faltering electoral prospects. And in her opinion, the Party’s problems have nothing to do with their unpopular policies that ignore the welfare of the American people. It’s just a messaging problem. Which she seems to think is the responsibility of the media that spends too much time reporting on trivialities like war.

You can’t entirely blame Lara for this. She’s a mouthpiece for the benefit of her family. But Fox News should be endlessly shamed for hiring her and allowing her to disgorge such self-serving propaganda across the network’s programming day. But then, why would they change now after doing that for thirty years?

Trump Runs His Bus Over Jeanine Pirro for Revealing His Lies About the Botched Reflecting Pool

So far Trump has wasted more than $14 million dollars on this boondoggle. And who knows where that money went? Clearly it wasn’t into renovating the Reflecting Pool that remains a disastrous example of incompetence. But even worse, it has become a political tool for persecuting people who refuse to align with Trump’s twisted agenda. And his U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia – former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro – has become the human personification of that tool.

In June Pirro announced that she was filing charges against former American Olympian, David Hearn, for allegedly vandalizing the Reflecting Pool. She was adamant that she had an open and shut case saying that “The evidence shows, and we will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Hearn willfully destroyed property at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.”

It didn’t quite work out that way. This week Pirro did an Olympic-grade flip-flop, filing a motion to dismiss the charges against Hearn. As reported by NBC News…

“The Trump administration has dropped its case against a former Olympic canoeist charged in connection with damage to the Reflecting Pool, acknowledging its allegations against David ‘Davey’ Hearn don’t hold water. […]

“Prosecutors said that after the indictment came down on July 2, the Interior Department provided additional documents to the U.S. attorney’s office ‘indicating that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor [and] that the damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism.'”

Okay. So then everything that Pirro said previously was untrue, and she lied to the Grand Jury that returned the indictment. What’s more, everything that Trump said about it was also untrue. Particularly his insistence that the damage – imaginary 350 foot gashes – was the work of vandals with knives who hate America. Pirro now says that that there is no evidence of any deliberate damage.

But here is where the plot thickens again. After Pirro dropped the charges, Trump posted his disapproval on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social. He raged that…

“I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don’t know what she was thinking? To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM, that included the grass, which had a big 86 47 emblazoned in giant letters on it, and other elements of the surrounding area. There may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by VANDALS!”

So Trump has thrown Pirro under his bus and backed up over her a couple of times. He is throwing his Interior Department under there as well since Pirro blamed them for her incompetence. Meanwhile, Trump is clinging to his prior lies despite having no evidence to support them. Notice also that he is not reaffirming his position because of any new information or proof, but because he says “To me” vandals damaged the Reflecting Pool. So it’s just a feeling that he has. Which for him is enough to prosecute innocent bystanders and rebuke your staff.

[UPDATE: Trump’s Interior Department Secretary, Doug Burgum, has issued a statement calling Pirro a liar and taking Trump’s side, like a good cult devotee. He says that “The evidence is clear, vandals have repeatedly caused damage to the Reflecting Pool.” But, like Trump, he produced no such evidence.

Trump’s post is like wading through a Deflecting Pool, wherein he attempts to shift the subject to a different incident involving the numbers “8647” on a grass field. Furthermore, in a subsequent post Trump tripled down on his allegations saying “Look for yourselves at the VANDALISM that took place at The Reflecting Pool. The material is being cut with a knife or a box cutter, for all to see!” To no one’s surprise, the video he posted didn’t show anyone cutting anything.

You have to wonder how Trump can keep Pirro on as U.S. Attorney in DC. He is undermining her credibility, which was already in short supply. She can hardly be relied upon as a prosecutor in any other cases that her office might file. She ought to be investigated for prosecutorial misconduct. In addition to that, Mr. Hearn is likely considering a lawsuit for malicious prosecution, defamation, and abuse of process.

It’s just like many other cases that Trump’s “Justice” Department pursued that they wound up dropping for lack of evidence or other malfeasance. For instance, the case against former FBI Director James for posting a photo of seashells spelling “8647.” Also, the cases against Senators Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin and four members of Congress for reminding military personnel of their duty to decline to follow illegal orders.

Trump has a spotty record of loyalty in cases such as these. At times he will cut someone loose who has embarrassed him or failed to achieve his nefarious goals. At other times he has stuck by a failing staffer who he regards as staunchly devoted to him. Time will tell where Pirro ends up, although neither is a place of honor.

BLAME AMERICA FIRST: Trump Takes Iran’s Side in an Allegation of a Cyberattack in Minnesota

Patriotism has long been a core principle of the Republican Party, at least during election campaigns when they try to portray themselves as unwaveringly devoted to America and its founding philosophies of democracy and liberty, and equality. Too bad that the GOP only wears that mantle of flag-waving allegiance as a campaign costume that they discard as soon as the campaign is over.

No one in the Republican realm has been more dishonest with regard to loving their country than Donald Trump. He generously disgorges hollow praise in the form of mushy clichés and drenches his remarks about the nation with fawning flattery that has the stench of scammy evangelical sideshows. In reality, Trump displays a profound aversion for America, it’s laws, and its Constitution.

As is often the case, Trump provides the best examples of his treasonous tendencies. On Friday he spoke to reporters during a White House Cabinet meeting. These meetings are never held to work on matters of critical importance to the nation. Instead, they are ceremonial kiss-up rituals where Trump has his flunkies take turns fluffing him. That is, when he isn’t doing it himself.

On this occasion Trump had something to get off his chest. He had heard about a cyberattack on water systems in Minnesota, a blue state whose governor, Tim Walz, Trump has a particular animosity toward. The New York Times reported the news on Thursday saying that…

“Investigators believe a cyberattack this week on dozens of municipal water systems in Minnesota was probably the work of Iranian hackers, according to U.S. and state officials and others familiar with the matter, a potential act of aggression that comes at a precarious moment in the U.S. war against Iran.”

Despite the preliminary assessment by Trump’s own FBI and cybersecurity agency surmising that the attack was by Iran, Trump had other ideas. He told reporters that…

“I just wanna mention that we heard in Minnesota there was a cyberattack and they blame it on Iran. I don’t think so. I blame it on Minnesota because they’re grossly incompetent. There was a cyberattack on 30 water plants. And I would blame it on Minnesota, and the corrupt government of Minnesota. They like to say ‘Oh, it was Iran.’ Iran should be so lucky. Iran’s got bigger problems than worrying about Minnesota.”

As he often does, Trump has chosen to blame America first. He is defending our enemy Iran against these accusations despite the fact that he is at war with them and bombing their civilian infrastructure, which gives them motives to disrupt infrastructure in the U.S. And he is making wholly unsupported accusations against fellow Americans who would only be harming themselves if Trump’s preposterous charges were true.

In Trump’s mind his political foes in Minnesota are more likely to be the culprits of this cyberattack than actual wartime enemies in Iran. That’s how twisted Trump’s thought processes are. And he assigns blame to what he calls the “corrupt government of Minnesota,” without any rational benefit a corrupt government would receive for attacking its own water plants.

What’s more, Trump is absolving Iran in part because messing around with Minnesota’s water plants would be too small an endeavor for Iran. So according to Trump, Iran has “bigger problems than worrying about Minnesota,” but Trump doesn’t? Really? What about the high cost of gas and groceries and housing and healthcare? What about his ICE thugs persecuting migrants and killing citizens? What about his collapsing approval ratings as the midterm election nears. What about Iran?

Trump is doing nothing to resolve any of those problems. But he is taking the heat off of Iran, while simultaneously taking time out to baselessly accuse Minnesota of attacking their own water plants.

Well, at least he’s only taking time away from building his vanity ballroom, and renovating the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and other DC beautification projects, and shouting insults at journalists. Because Trump has bigger problems than worrying about affordability or war. After all, his ego have been hurt.

Trump Plots to Evade Senate Vote for Todd Blanche So He Can Keep His Slush Fund and Immunity

Trump’s approval rating has been spiraling downward for months. This week three reputable national polls have documented this decline. According to these surveys Trump is now wallowing in the low thirties, a depth that is lower than at any time in either of his occupations of the White House.

Among the consequences of Trump’s collapsing reputation is the softening of support from his Republican cohorts in Congress. He is finding it more difficult to get legislation passed as representatives and senators are realizing that they have less to fear from Trump than they do from voters. And Trump appears to be realizing it too.

On Thursday Trump was busy doing what he regards as critical presidenty stuff: posting deranged rants on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social. Included in his latest batch of bullshittery was a comment that, on the surface, was an affirmation of his support for his acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche. But on closer examination it was a confession of his commitment to corruption. Trump wrote that…

“Todd Blanche is a STAR, and everyone knows it! He has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time. However, John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee. […]

“I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office.”

If Blanche is a “STAR,” he is a red dwarf that is smaller and dimmer than others. And everyone knows it. More to the point, Trump is very perturbed (his resting emotional state) that a couple of Republican senators are reluctant to rubber stamp his nominee to become Attorney General. It’s true that Trump contributed to their senate careers coming to end. However, it’s also true that Trump was ignorantly blind that losing their support would be a predictable result of sabotaging their reelection.

Trump’s solution to this problem is to threaten to leave Blanche on as “acting” Attorney General until Tillis and Cornyn are out of office. There is some legal ambiguity as to how long Blanche could serve in an acting capacity. However, informed legal analysis suggests that it could be indefinitely.

Nevertheless, there are some problems with Trump’s plot to circumvent the Constitution and keep his personal criminal defense lawyer the head of the “Justice” Department. First of all, both Tillis and Cornyn might very well be replaced by Democrats in the November midterm elections. In North Carolina, former Gov. Roy Cooper is currently way ahead of his GOP opponent for the Tillis seat. In Texas, James Talarico is making an impressively strong bid for Cornyn’s seat.

If the Democrats win those races, and a few more in other states, Trump won’t be able to confirm Blanche, or any other crackpot nominee that Trump puts forward for the remaining two years of his lame duck presidency. And make no mistake about it, Blanche is a bona fide crackpot.

FOR INSTANCE: HUH? Trump’s Acting Attorney General: There’s a Ton of Evidence that the 2020 Election Was Rigged

Trump’s ultimatum is profoundly un-American and blatantly corrupt. All he needs to do to get the votes of Tillis and Cornyn is to have Blanche put in writing a revocation of the “weaponization” slush fund that he (as president) negotiated in a settlement with himself (as head of the Treasury Department/IRS). That fund was implemented to reward the criminals that stormed Congress on January 6, 2021.

By refusing to revoke the settlement, Trump is admitting that he would prefer to withdraw Blanche’s nomination, and have him serve in the sketchy “acting” status indefinitely, rather than have Blanche put in writing the revocation of the Seditionist Reward Scheme that he claims to have abandoned. So apparently, Trump has never intended to abandon the fund, and Blanche knows it.

[UPDATE: The next day Trump told reporters that the fund was dead. But saying it’s dead doesn’t make it dead. He can revive it any time he wants. He won’t put it in writing. Why not? He is literally stalling his own AG confirmation over that. And he still insists that he wants to compensate the criminally seditious rioters.]

Furthermore, Trump is also clinging to the immunity from IRS audits that his self-negotiated settlement also stipulated. That’s an extension of Trump’s broader intentions to evade legal accountability for his criminal acts, which was a primary motivation for his running for reelection.

None of this should surprise anyone who has been paying attention to Trump’s time in office. He has repeatedly demonstrated his aversion to the law and the Constitution. He files lawsuits at every opportunity to violate settled law. He governs by executive orders, then ignores the court rulings that strike them down. And he issues flagrantly unlawful orders covering everything from tariffs, to government terminations, to his reckless fiasco in Iran.

So it’s no wonder that such a president insists on having a partisan Attorney General, who is loyal only to him rather than to the Constitution, to protect him from the consequences of his criminal acts. It’s a plan that has worked to some degree, so far. But after November, Trump may hit a few speed bumps on his road to tyranny.

Donald ‘QUIXOTE’ Trump: Any Time You See Windmills You See a Failing Country

That harm is evident in Trump’s waging of a reckless and illegal war against Iran, in his inflationary tariffs that burden millions of Americans with higher prices, in his Gestapo-style military invasions of American cities with immigration StormTrumpers, in his attacks on Democracy and the Constitution, particularly the free press, and so much more.

On Wednesday Trump spoke to a gaggle of reporters in the Oval Office and, as he often does, he wandered off topic to ramble about unrelated pet peeves. On this occasion it was British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Trump’s nightmare of those vicious and hostile windmills that he thinks are destroying nations. He said of Burnham that…

“He’s got an energy problem. He’s got windmills all over the place. And any time you see windmills you see a failing country. They’re made in China, not used by China.”

This rant is a regular part of Trump’s raving repertoire. It has been debunked too many times to count. But he is relentless and impossible to sway from the nonsense he spews about renewable energy sources. He literally believes that you TV will shut off if the wind stops blowing, and your car can’t be driven at night. And that’s just for starters.

For the record, here is a list of the “failing countries” that produce the most wind energy. Notice that number one is China, where Trump says they don’t use any wind energy at all. And number two is the United States, a country that, in many ways, he himself is leading into failure, but not because of wind power.

    Leading Wind Energy Producers:

  1. China: Generates over 1,135 TWh annually with a massive capacity above 640 GW.
  2. United States: Produces roughly 464 TWh with nearly 159 GW of capacity.
  3. Germany: Generates about 136 TWh, covering over 27% of its domestic electricity.
  4. Brazil: Produces close 118 TWh, accounting for about 15.6% of its generation.
  5. India: Generates around 104 TWh with a total capacity of 54.5 GW.
  6. United Kingdom: Produces roughly 86 TWh, supplying nearly 29% of British electricity.
  7. Spain: Generates about 59 TWh, representing 20.4% of total generation.
  8. Canada: Produces over 51 TWh with an installed capacity near 17.7 GW.
  9. France: Generates about 46 TWh with a capacity of 25.6 GW.
  10. Turkey: Produces roughly 39 TWh, making up 11.1% of its domestic electricity mix.

What’s more, within the U.S. the leader in wind energy is one of Trump’s favorite states, Texas, that was responsible for generating 28% of the nation’s total wind production in 2024.

Surely there people in Trump’s administration who know these facts. But they are either too devoted to disseminating his bullshittery, or too afraid to dispute him. It’s a sad state of state affairs. And it’s a pathetic way to run a country.

And yet here we are. Hopefully there will be some relief after the November midterm elections. Although even then the reality-based community must remain vigilant and engaged. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride until January.

Legal Genius Trump Sued the BBC for Defamation and Now Must Turn Over His Financial Records

The most litigious president in American history is, without a doubt, Donald Trump. He is reported to have filed more than thirty defamation lawsuits since the 1980s. With that experience you might think that Trump would have a pretty good idea how the law works, and how to get the most from his numerous frivolous and retributive lawsuits.

However, Trump is clearly suffering from some sort of learning disability because, despite his frequent legal misadventures, he has never won a single case. Although he has managed to extract via settlements what were essentially bribes from conflicted corporations who were seeking government favors. But more often than not he came away with nothing after exposing himself to more embarrassment and ridicule.

Trump is still making pedestrian mistakes. But then, no one has ever regarded Trump as the sharpest tool in the shed. Among them is his recent $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC, wherein he alleged that “a BBC documentary caused catastrophic harm to the value of his ‘brand, properties, and businesses.'” As reported by Meidas Touch News…

“Donald Trump just suffered another brutal courtroom defeat—and this one could force one of his most closely guarded financial entities to start handing over sensitive records.

A federal magistrate judge in Florida has ordered the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust to begin producing financial documents sought by the BBC in Trump’s sprawling defamation lawsuit.”

By identifying his “brand, properties, and businesses” as parties to his financial losses, Trump has been required to present his financial records so that the alleged financial harm can be substantiated and to ascertain appropriate compensation if he prevails. This would provide insight on all of the Trump family business affairs, including crypto and stock trading earnings.

The problems for Trump are twofold. First, it is unlikely that his business records will prove that there were any losses that could be attributed to the BCC documentary, which didn’t even air in the U.S. And secondly, once those records are presented to the court they are a matter of public record. So Trump’s financial affairs, that he has steadfastly refused to disclose for years, would become readily available to anyone who is interested them. That includes other potential litigants, prosecutors probing his criminal activities, investigative journalists, and of course voters.

Trump was recently stung by a ruling in a defamation lawsuit against him by author E. Jean Carroll. Trump had lost that case but was deploying legal tactics to avoid paying. Then a federal judge ruled that the judgment, which was being held in escrow, would be released to Carroll. Trump’s final attempt to avoid paying was foiled when his pleading to the Supreme Court was refused.

It will interesting see what Trump’s finances actually look like. Although the Court’s ruling was limited to records spanning January 1, 2023, through the present, there are still a lot of suspicious business dealings by Trump in those years. So his determination to sue the BBC may result in revelations that go way beyond that one case.

Hopefully other media enterprises will learn from this that Trump is a paper tiger who can be beaten in court, and that capitulating achieves nothing other than showing Trump that you’re weak and susceptible to more legal threats and exploitation. Don’t fall for it. Standing up for your constitutional rights is both legally and morally the right thing to do.

The second term of Donald Trump is proving to be an even bigger failure than the first. The economy is in decline. The nation is embroiled in another quagmire in the Middle East. But Trump and his MAGA Republican Party is honed in on the upcoming midterm elections with a set of brilliant campaign strategies that are certain to deliver a historic victory – for Democrats.

Trump and the GOP are desperately afraid of their electoral prospects. So they are focusing squarely on the issues that are most popular with voters. Such as fighting a war in Iran, building vanity ballrooms, trying to rig elections by gerrymandering and suppressing voters, pardoning felons, enriching themselves through tax cuts and corruption, protecting pedophiles, and calling Democrats communists.

The Republican’s congressional figurehead, House Squeaker MAGA Mike Johnson, is taking the lead in his party’s crusade to retain power. In pursuit of that goal Johnson appeared on “This Week on Capitol Hill,” a program on the ultra conservative Salem News Channel that is hosted by Tony Perkins, the president of the religious right-wing Family Research Council. During that interview Johnson revealed his secret weapon for winning the midterms…

Johnson: The American people can trust House Republicans, the Republican Party, to run this government. We keep delivering and we’re gonna run all the way through the tape through the end of year. And I believe for this reason that we’re gonna win the midterms. I’m very bullish about the outcome. We talk about it all the time, and with each passing day, I’m more confident.
Perkins: You repeatedly say that you exceed the expectations of the pundits. They still don’t understand the power of prayer.
Johnson: That’s right! And look, I’ve been openly saying this. And I told a big gaggle of Hill press reporters yesterday, I said listen, THIS IS A GOD THING! It really is. And we have intercessory prayers who are on the ground at the Capitol praying each of these things through.

Johnson seemed to be leading with some comedy by asserting that “the American people can trust House Republicans…to run this government.” He has presided over the least productive Congress in modern history. Even with majorities in the House and Senate, they passed almost nothing of significance. Which left wannabe dictator Trump to rule by executive orders, many of which were struck down in court.

More troubling is Johnson’s reliance on The Almighty for his election protection. What is making him confident of victory are his “intercessory prayers” lobbying God directly for votes. Johnson has stumbled onto a fantastic strategy for electoral success: Pray to win. Let’s pray he relies on it.

Although, if prayer works the way that Johnson claims, why hasn’t it stopped the war in Iran, or ended homelessness, or mass shootings? Does Johnson really believe that God is taking sides in American politics, but ignoring actual human suffering? And is Johnson aware that prayer is bipartisan? Millions of Americans are praying every day for Trump to be removed from office.

What’s more, if Democrats win the midterms, does that mean that God prefers Democrats? Which would make sense since Republicans are a profoundly anti-Christian political party that violates the principles that Jesus preached: feeding the hungry, healing the sick, giving shelter to the homeless, welcoming refugees, etc.

Democrats will be encouraged by statements like this from Johnson. While they are out on the campaign trail, talking with and listening to voters, Republicans will be in the House chapel praying (whining?) for God to find them a few more votes and deliver them from the evil of a Democratic agenda that actually helps people, rather than just catering to corporations and the wealthy. Something tells me that Johnson’s confidence may be misplaced.

Although he was elected as a progressive Democrat, he has transitioned to a new role as a reliable Republican enabler who seems to cherish his service as a traitorous MAGA flunky. On Saturday Fetterman took up his post on Fox News, where he has become as regular as their paid contributors. He was interviewed by Donald Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, who really has no business being employed by an alleged news network. Just imagine the outcry if CNN had hired Hunter Biden as a host while his father was in the White House.

In the interview Lara prefaced her question by noting that Fetterman has been supportive of Trump with regard to strikes on Iran and voter ID. Of course he has. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been invited to be interviewed. Then she lobs a softball, asking him what he hears from his constituents. Fetterman replies that most of what he hears is positive, then elaborates…

“I’ve seen polling where why I’m so popular with Republicans. I don’t really understand that. But I’m always gonna treat both sides with respect. We can agree on what we can, or we’re gonna disagree in a respectful way. And I’m not gonna call people like ‘You’re a Nazi, you’re a fascist, or you’re trying to destroy democracy,’ and use those things.”

It’s hard to believe that Fetterman really doesn’t understand why he is popular with Republicans. Perhaps it has something to do with his appearing on Fox News at least twice a week to bash Democrats and stick up for Trump. If he really doesn’t understand why that would make him popular with Republicans, then he is too mentally impaired to serve in Congress.

Fetterman went on to take a rational sounding position about disagreeing with others without being disagreeable. And he insists that he wouldn’t resort to calling his political foes names. But if he actually feels that way, why would he appear on Fox News where they regularly call Democrats terrorists and communists who are out to destroy America? Doesn’t he realize that he is validating that vile rhetoric?

It’s hard to know what happened to Fetterman. He started out as a reasonable liberal representative. Then he had a stroke, followed by struggles with severe clinical depression and anxiety. Democrats came to his defense when Republicans began portraying him as cognitively disabled. But he nevertheless has embraced his GOP attackers. And of course, given his new right-wing opinions, they no longer attack him. In fact, they are trying to persuade him to switch parties.

There is no mystery as to where this is headed. Fetterman will be primaried and lose the Democratic nomination for reelection. Hopefully his Democratic successor will win the seat in 2028. In the meantime Democrats will have to endure his betrayal. While he still claims to be a Democrat who votes more often with his party, he is doing more harm than good by cozying up to Fox News.

What’s more, Fetterman seems to enjoy dangling the possibility of party switching over the heads of his Democratic colleagues. He has become this year’s Kyrsten Sinema or Joe Manchin. But his time in that role will be brief. And Democrats will just have to win a large enough majority in November to cancel out his contrarian votes.

Did Trump Write His WHCA Speech? That Would Explain Why It Was So Awful! Even He Thought So

On Friday night the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner took place in Washington, DC. It was a scaled down affair that was only held to prove that a violent protestor couldn’t shape the course of political discourse in America.

Donald Trump, Mocking Disability

Much of the event was dedicated to its primary purpose, which is to raise money for charity and to give awards for excellence in journalism and advocacy of free speech and the Constitution’s Fist Amendment. It served those purposes admirably. Then, unfortunately, it went on to feature an address by Donald Trump, who despises the Constitution and especially the First Amendment. He proceeded to make a fool of himself, and by extension, America, for which he has a renowned talent. Particularly with regard to the media.

Trump spoke at length about his vanity ballroom. He bragged about supposedly coining the term “Dumocrat.” And naturally, he exalted himself as the only important person in the room, or the country, saying that “When I’m not around, you’re gonna be broke. There’s not gonna be anybody to report on. Nobody gives a damn about anybody else.” That’s why there is a picture of Trump in the dictionary under “Malignant Narcissism (see psychopath).”

The WHCA Dinner is known for featuring humorous speakers, including the president. But Trump was struggling from start. After getting no laughs for a line about a Senator’s wife who told him “‘I want to have you immediately come up the stairs and make love to me.’ And he said, ‘I can’t do both,'” Trump complained “That was actually the only thing I thought was good in this whole frickin’ stupid speech that they wrote.”

Shortly thereafter he asked “Does anybody understand this stuff?” At another point Trump set up an insult/joke about Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (who he called the governor of Chicago) and Rep. Jerry Nadler, saying that they were “fighting for a big fat piece of cheesecake.” When no one laughed at that he asked “Who the hell wrote that line?”

By every indication, it seems that Trump wrote that line, and most of the rest of the speech that even he thought was bombing. It was comprised of rehashed insults that Trump has been disgorging for years. And the targets of his trash-talk were the same people he has been repeatedly maligning at his MAGA rallies to the thrills of his cult disciples. There was little if anything new. What follows are some of the retreads he laid out Friday night for the journalists who have heard it all at least 100 times.

“Before I came along, if you wanted to see someone lose consciousness on the South Lawn of the White House, all you had to do is ask Joe Biden a question.”

“I can exclusively reveal to you this evening that for the heaviest of the heavyweights, we will have sloppy Chris Christie.”

“We had a contest for who had the lowest ratings and the lowest IQ on television. And that was actually Don Lemon.”

“What about Bruce Springsteen? What the hell happened to that guy? He looks like hell…I don’t look so bad…The tour has been renamed Bored in the USA.

“This year the association decided not to have a comedian, so they considered using Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon. These guys, they’re terrible. They’re terrible. Stephen Colbert. These are people without talent…They’re not funny people. They’re angry people. They’re sick people.”

“They thought about going with a professional clown for entertainment, but Adam Shifty Schiff was not available…He’s a liar. And I called him Watermelon Head.”

“Then I’m told that even Rosie O’Donnell reached out from Ireland…she’s one of the greatest sufferers of Trump derangements.”

“I want to personally congratulate CNN’s Kaitlyn Collins on receiving her award. It was all about me. It’s a fake. She shouldn’t get the award. It was a fake…But she’s a young, attractive woman. She never smiles…I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can. It was Dylan Mulvaney.”

“I’m very disappointed they didn’t bring Fake Tapper.”

“I was disappointed that Gavin Newsom didn’t show up…He’s incapable of reading a speech. He’s a low-IQ person.”

“Ilhan Omar, one of my favorites, and her brother are thinking about moving together…she’s a low IQ person, and she’s also a very dishonest person, and she ought to get the hell out of our country.”

“We invited Elizabeth Pocahontas, Warren. She’s referred to Pocahontas.”

“I wanted to make sure that Jack Smith, deranged Jack Smith…this guy was a deranged lunatic.”

“Chuck Schumer, cryin’ Chuck…he’s a proud, very proud Palestinian.”

“In Texas the Democrats are running a candidate named James Talefreako [Talarico], who hates guns, hates oil, hates sex, hates women, and who said he is a Christian who hates Christianity.”

And remember, those are supposed to be jokes. Trump was scheduled to speak for 40 minutes, but true to form, he went on tediously for more than an hour. Aside from the above attempts at “humor,” Trump’s speech was jampacked with incoherent rambling and nonsensical lies. In other words, it was exactly like every other speech Trump has given in the past ten years. And even he thought it sucked.
