Fox News Lies that Gas Was Higher a Year Ago (It Wasn’t) But Will Drop When Iran is ‘Finished’

At a time when Donald Trump is scraping the barrel bottom in public approval, it calls for desperate measures by the MAGA media to shore up the ever widening gap between Trump’s Republican Party and the American people, who aren’t falling for the gaslighting they are being fed by the GOP (Greedy One Percent).

Donald Trump, Fox News, Lies

The issues that are dominating the political discourse as the midterm election approaches mainly deal with the economy that Trump has managed to wreck with his inflationary tariffs and his reckless and illegal war against Iran. Trump’s solution to this problem is to pretend that there is no problem, and to insist that everything is going really well – for the wealthy and corporations.

Naturally, Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation, aka Fox News, is coming to the rescue with a report on the price of gas. In this report their correspondent tells one story while their on-screen graphics tell another…

Fox News: “Trump is asking Americans for patience. Just hang a little bit more for gas because the unified message from here is that gas prices will drop quickly once the operation is finished. The president says that he has to do this to make sure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon.”

Notice that the reporter acknowledges that gas prices are currently high, but says that, according to Dear Leader, it’s a temporary, but necessary, increase and that people should be patient. He doesn’t say for how long. Two weeks? Six months? Who knows?

Meanwhile, the video shows a chart that says that gas was $4.14 a year ago, and that it’s less than that today. That, of course, is not true. It was only $3.14 a year ago. So it’s nearly 32% more today.

Some people will dismiss this as an unfortunate typo. However, knowing the reputation Fox News has for deliberately lying, there is a good chance that it was a purposeful misrepresentation of reality to make Trump look good. Media professionals know that visuals have a bigger impact on television viewers than dialog. They will remember what they saw long after they have forgotten what was said.

What’s more, the reporter attributed the higher gas prices to the Iran war, and regurgitated the Trump regime’s line that “gas prices will drop quickly once the operation is finished.” Once again…Two weeks? Six months? Who knows?

The reporter also parrots Trump’s contention that this burden is justified in order to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. Trump himself reiterated that in a post this morning on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social, saying that “The number one Goal is, and always will be, that Iran cannot have, in any way, shape, or form, a Nuclear Weapon.” Although there is someone else who might have something to say about that…
