Trump’s FCC Chair Says that CBS News Will Have to Employ a ‘Bias Monitor’ to Police Their Reporting

Just in case there still people who are not convinced that Donald Trump is plotting to replace America’s democracy with a totalitarian dictatorship, he has dispatched his chairman of the FCC (Fascist Communications Commission) to Newsmax to announce his latest anti-free-press initiative.

Donald Trump and Media - ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, FOX

FCC chair, Brendan Carr, has been making the media rounds this week to rollout the Trump agenda to clampdown on any journalistic enterprise that thinks it has the freedom to criticize Dear Leader Trump or his MAGA movement. Last week Carr bragged to Fox News that Trump had defunded PBS and NPR. And he told them that Trump was responsible for the cancelation of “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” because Trump is “not gonna play by the rules of politicians in the past and let these legacy outfits dictate the narrative and the terms of the debate.” Of course not. Dictating the narrative is a privilege reserved for Trump and his confederates.

SEE THIS: Did Trump Arrange to Get Stephen Colbert Fired? That’s What His FCC Chair Implied to Fox News

Not satisfied with those assaults on the free press, Carr also visited with Newsmax to announce a unique provision that was snuck into the FCC’s approval of the merger between Paramount (the owner of CBS) and Skydance Media. Carr sat for a friendly chat with Newsmax host Greg Kelly that included the following exchange…

Kelly: We heard a little about what they’re gonna have to do on 60 Minutes. Is there anything beyond that you can tell us about what they’re gonna do differently, fact-based? You know, that’s kind of a cultural shock to them.
Carr: Yeah, it might be news to some folks over there. One of the things they’re going to have to do is put an ombudsman in place for two years. So basically a “bias monitor” that will report directly to the president. So that’s something that’s significant that we’re going to see happening as well to broadcasters.”

Trump's FCC Chair says he will put a "bias monitor" in place who will "report directly" to Trump as part of the deal for Sky Dance to acquire CBS

FactPost (@factpostnews.bsky.social) 2025-07-25T16:08:59.336Z

HOLY CRAP! This is unprecedented. Carr is revealing that the government is exerting its full force to demand that a news network hire a censorship czar to police the content of CBS’s reporting, as well as that of other broadcasters. But not to worry, we can rest assured that he will execute his role as Bias Judge with the utmost neutrality, right? And he will also mandate bias monitors for Newsmax and Fox News, right? RIGHT?

[UPDATE: This story was corrected to note that the “bias monitor” would not be reporting to the president of the United States as originally stated. Carr’s remarks on Newsmax were not clear, but Talking Points Memo reviewed the text of the agreement which they report refers to the president of Paramount]

This brazenly autocratic conduct is not new for the Trump regime, or for Carr specifically. He recently told CNBC that “the media industry across this country needs a course correction.” And he believes that it is the proper role of government to impose that correction and determine the course. It’s a political philosophy that he and Trump acquired from their heroes, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.

CNBC: Colbert is a comedian. You keep talking about journalism and fairness in news, but we all remember Carson and Jay Leno giving Reagan the business. Where does that fit in?FCC CHAIR BRENDAN CARR: Frankly, the media industry across this country needs a course correction

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-07-25T15:05:29.181Z

The goal of these initiatives is to reshape the media into a Trump-fluffing platform of pure propaganda. If they get their way, all voices of dissent will be muzzled, and those who engage in it will be sent to gulags in El Salvador, or worse. Some in the media have already capitulated to Trump. Which makes it all the more imperative that every American speaks out and supports independent media and free speech. If we don’t do it now, we may not be able to do it at all.

UPDATE: Trump has weighed in on this with an inane comment posted on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social calling for the licenses of news networks to be revoked if he thinks they are too nice to Democrats and/or too mean to him…

“Networks aren’t allowed to be political pawns for the Democrat Party. It has become so outrageous that, in my opinion, their licenses could, and should, be revoked! MAGA”

Pentagon IG: Pete Hegseth Disclosed Classified Info During His Signal Chat – Fox News Buries It

The fate of the Defense Secretary that Donald Trump plucked from Fox News is becoming more untenable with every day that he is tainting that noble office. Pete Hegseth was never qualified to run a toy soldier parade, much less the largest bureaucracy in the United States government. And particularly one that bears such consequential burdens for national security.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Pete Hegseth with Drunk Emoji

Shortly after Hegseth was confirmed by a Republican Senate that is blindly compliant to Dear Leader Trump, Hegseth was caught engaging in a dialog with his defense and intelligence comrades using the Signal app, a commercial chat program that was not capable of maintaining secure communications. The chat included the Vice-President, JD Vance, the Director of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, the National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, and others. During that meeting Hegseth revealed the specific plans for a military attack on Houthi terrorists in Yemen.

SEE THIS: SIGNALGATE: How Fox News Fouled Up the War Planning Chat Scandal Was More Cover-Up than Coverage

Hegseth vehemently denied that any classified information was disclosed during the chat. And Trump dismissed the whole affair by pretending that he was blissfully ignorant (which is believable) saying that, “I know nothing about it. […] You’re telling me about it for the first time.”

However, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Hegseth, Trump, and everyone else involved have been lying. It is now being reported that the Pentagon Inspector General confirmed that the plans Hegseth blabbed came from a classified email that was, in fact, labeled “SECRET!” This alarming breach of security was even reported by Fox News…

“Multiple officials tell Fox News the Pentagon’s inspector general has received evidence that the U.S. military strike plans shared by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over Signal derived from a classified email labeled ‘SECRET/NOFORN,’ which stands for no foreign nationals should see it. That was first reported by The Washington Post. Fox is also told the inspector general received the classified email with markings early in its investigation, which began in April.

“Secretary Hegseth’s team is responding. Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell says in a statement to Fox, in part, ‘The Department stands behind its previous statements: no classified information was shared via Signal.'”

Fox News has **confirmed** reports from other outlets that the Pentagon’s watchdog has learned information in his Signal texts came from a classified email. This 40-second headline read is the entirety of the network's coverage of the story.

Matthew Gertz (@mattgertz.bsky.social) 2025-07-25T15:39:05.223Z

So this dangerous misconduct by Hegseth was confirmed by the Inspector General of the Defense Department that he supposedly runs. And this revelation also confirms that Hegseth and his cohorts lied about it when originally asked to respond. All of that would be sufficient result in his resignation or termination under normal circumstances. Needless to say, normality is not something that is associated with the Trump administration.

What’s more, while it is notable that Fox News actually reported this scandal, no one should give them any credit for it. Because the brief mention above is the only one to date that Fox News has aired. Even though Trump’s Cabinet members, including Hegseth, are on Fox News more often than ads for Ozempic, none of them been asked to comment on this.

There are a lot of stories in this news cycle about Trump, including those about his relationship with child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein; his “Big Ugly Billionaire’s Budget Act” (BUBBA), that will throw millions of Americans off of their health insurance plans, fund ICE as the nation’s largest law enforcement agency, and explode the National debt; his recessionary, tariff-drive economic agenda; and his weaponization of the Justice Department that has accused President Obama of treason.

MORE HERE: Trump’s DNI and Fox News Manufacture a New Crackpot Conspiracy Theory Accusing Obama of Treason

But no story exposes the potential for greater harm than the betrayal of America’s military and intelligence operations around the world. And if Hegseth (and Vance, Gabbard, Ratcliff, and Waltz) survives this ghastly behavior, than there is literally nothing that can be excluded from the atrocities that Trump might engage in.

Did Trump Arrange to Get Stephen Colbert Fired? That’s What His FCC Chair Implied to Fox News

The history of broken democracies that descend into totalitarianism almost always begins with an aspiring dictator who lashes out at the media and seeks to muzzle any criticism from a free press that resists being censored. The honest journalists and others with the courage to speak truth to power are systematically identified and silenced.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Stephen Colbert & Trump Baby

That strategy can currently be seen playing out by Donald Trump and his neo-fascist MAGA movement. It began years ago with his frequent reference to the media in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people,” and continues with his recent attacks on news organizations with multibillion dollar lawsuits and threats of regulatory punishment should they defy his divine will.

SUCH AS: Paramount Caves to Trump’s Extortion, Disgraces CBS, Pays a $16M Bribe to Settle a Bogus Lawsuit

Last week Stephen Colbert announced that his corporate bosses at Paramount had told him that his contract would not be renewed beyond this season that ends in May of 2026. Paramount is currently trying to complete a merger with Skydance Media that needs the approval of the Trump administration, The cancellation came as a shock to Colbert and his audience, considering that his program has been the number one rated show in its time slot for many years. And it came just two days after Colbert castigated Paramount for capitulating to Trump and agreeing to pay what Colbert called “a big fat bribe” in order to settle an entirely meritless lawsuit filed by the Litigator-in-Chief. What else did Paramount/Skydance promise Trump to secure his approval for their merger?

One person who was not shocked was Donald Trump, who rejoiced over the news, and looked forward to more of the same sort of government suppression for Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and others who dare to laugh at Trump. Which may have prompted Fox News host, Bill Hemmer, to engage with Trump’s Federal Communications (FCC) chair, Brendan Carr, about Trump’s possible role in the ousting of Colbert. Hemmer asked Carr, “Did Trump have anything to do with the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s show?” And Carr gave a long-winded dodge that still managed to give Trump credit for axing the decades long, awarding winning program. Carr replied…

“Well here’s what’s important to keep in mind as a broader dynamic. When president Trump ran for reelection he ran right at the legacy broadcast media outfits and the New York and Hollywood elites that are behind it. And he smashed the facade that these are gatekeepers that can control what Americans think and what Americans can say. And once you do do that, you’ve exposed the business model of a lot of these outfits as being nothing more than a partisan circus.

That entire rant was pure, nonsensical, bullshittery. First of all, Trump may have campaigned against the media, but he won with one of the smallest margins in modern history. So he had no mandate to crush what he believed was a “partisan circus.” What’s more, neither Colbert, nor any of his colleagues, had any power as “gatekeepers” who could control what anyone thinks or says. If the American people didn’t like what they were seeing, they could always change the channel or go to bed. Instead, millions tuned in every night.

However, Carr wasn’t finished gaslighting the Fox News viewers. He eventually got around to answering the original question about whether Trump deserved credit for ridding television of Colbert. And Carr implied that he did…

“So there’s a lot of consequences that are flowing from Trump deciding ‘I’m not gonna play by the rules of politicians in the past and let these legacy outfits dictate the narrative and the terms of the debate.’ And he’s succeeding. Just look at what’s happening. NPR has been defunded. PBS has been defunded. Colbert is getting canceled. You’ve got anchors and news media personalities losing jobs. All of the is downstream of president Trump’s decision to stand up. And he stood up for the American people. Because the American people do not trust these legacy gatekeepers anymore.”

FOX: Did President Trump have anything to do with the cancelation of Colbert's show?FCC CHAIR BRENDAN CARR: When President Trump ran for election, he ran right at these legacy broadcast media outfitsFOX: I did not hear an answer

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-07-24T14:04:39.172Z

So according to Carr, Colbert’s firing was the result of “consequences” that flowed from Trump who wasn’t “gonna play by the rules” of the past, wherein viewers decided what they wanted to watch. He boasted that Trump was succeeding by defunding beloved institutions like NPR and PBS, and causing journalists to lose their jobs. Once again, giving the credit to Trump. Furthermore, Carr made the preposterous statement that all of this anti-free-press turmoil, was because Trump “stood up for the American people.”

MORE HERE: Trump Threatens Republicans Who Fail to Defund the ‘Monstrosity’ Public Broadcasters, PBS and NPR

Apparently Carr thinks that the nation was clamoring to get rid of such subversive fair as the PBS News Hour, All Things Considered, Masterpiece Theater, and Sesame Street. Even Fox’s host was less than satisfied with Carr’s respopnse, saying that “I asked you a very direct question. I did not hear a yes or a no in your answer. I heard ‘maybe.'” Although Carr did hint at his view that Trump was responsible for Colbert being cancelled. He just took the long way around to delivering a weaselly reply. Which is a skill that many in Trump World have had to master.

The bottom line here is that Trump is determined to cleanse the media of anyone who refuses to worship and obey him. And the supplicants in his administration will see to it that Trump’s will is done by any means necessary. And that’s true for his political agencies as well. Because that’s how authoritarianism works. And that’s what Trump wants. He must not be allowed to succeed.

Trump White House Whines About ‘Political Disinformation’ – While They Are Disseminating It

If anyone is curious about just how frightened Donald Trump is about the prospect of the Jeffrey Epstein files being released, all they need to do is observe how desperately he is pushing preposterous and wholly unsupported allegations against President Obama, who Trump et al are accusing of treason.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Trump Lies

Ever since the blatant hypocrisy of Trump’s Attorney Genuflect, Pam Bondi, assuring Fox News that she is reviewing the Epstein client list that is “sitting on my desk right now,” then subsequently insisting that no such list exists, the snowballing backlash aimed at Trump, from his own most loyal cult followers, has threatened to bury him politically. Consequently, he has concocted a malicious, mendacious melodrama wherein he and his cohorts are accusing Obama of a capital crime against America.

SEE THIS: Trump’s DNI and Fox News Manufacture a New Crackpot Conspiracy Theory Accusing Obama of Treason

The allegations by the Trump regime have no basis in reality. Their own documents fail to prove their ludicrous claims. But conforming to reality has never been a prerequisite for Trumpist bullshittery. And it isn’t now. Which explains why Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, can shamelessly stand behind the podium in the White House Press Briefing Room and spout off bona fide garbage like this (video below)

“This is truly one of the greatest political scandals in American history. And reporters at legacy outlets, some of which are sitting in this room today, like the New York Times and the Washington Post, were ridiculously awarded Pulitzer prizes for their perpetuation of this hoax. It is well past time for those awards to be stripped from the journalists that received them.”

What Leavitt is referring to are articles that accurately reported the well documented and unsavory associations between Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russian operatives. Those articles were thoroughly researched and backed up by both documentary evidence and witness testimony. They deservedly won Pulitzer prizes for which Trump is now suing the Pulitzer board in a futile and infantile effort to get them revoked. But Leavitt was just getting started. She went on to complain that…

“It is not journalism to propagate political disinformation in service of the Democrat Party and those in the intelligence community who hand over out of context and fake intelligence to push a false political narrative.

“I will now pass it over to the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, to speak more about all of this.”

Leavitt is actually right that “It is not journalism to propagate political disinformation.” Even though that is exactly what she is doing. This is just another swing at the crackpot conspiracy theory that Obama had intelligence reports altered to say that Russia tried to interfere in the 2016 election. Which in fact, they did try to do. That was affirmed by multiple analyses by the Intel community, as well as the Senate Intelligence Committee investigation that was led by then-senator Marco Rubio. The bipartisan Committee reported that…

“…the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multifaceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. […and that…] Moscow’s intent was to harm the Clinton Campaign, tarnish an expected Clinton presidential administration, help the Trump Campaign after Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee, and undermine the U.S. democratic process.”

The plot of this phony scandal by Trump, Leavitt, and Gabbard, would make a really bad political movie due its implausibility and utter lack of factual substance. On the other hand, it could make a pretty good farcical satire about nutcases propagating insane delusions of government psyops. And they could use the real graphics contrived by Trump’s people, such as the one on the left below that was posted by both Trump and his White House accounts…

Trump's White House isn't babbling about crackpot conspiracy theories at all, are they?

Jon Stewart Blasts His Bosses Over the Firing of Colbert with a Choir Singing ‘Go F**k Yourself’

Last week Stephen Colbert announced that the corporate wankers who run Paramount were canceling his show at the end of the current season. So come May of 2026 there will be no more “Late Night with Stephen Colbert.” It’s a decision that ends 30 years of the show that David Letterman began, and became the number one rated program in its time period after Colbert took over.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Jon Stewart, Donald Trump

Paramount and CBS have said that the reason for the cancelation was “purely financial.” But that doesn’t align with the fact that it is the top rated late-night shows and, if there were financial issues, they could be addressed with measures to reduce costs and increase revenue. Furthermore, if it were purely financial they would have made the decision, but not announced it until next March.

The only reason to make this announcement now is to grease the wheels for their pending multibillion dollar merger, for which they need the approval of the Trump administration ASAP. But the corporatists didn’t bother to try to resolve any financial matters. Instead, they capitulated to Dear Leader Donald Trump, who couldn’t have been happier…

SEE THIS: Big Baby Trump Celebrates CBS Firing Stephen Colbert and Hopes that Jimmy Kimmel Will Be Next

On Monday night Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” expressed his feelings about the cancelation of Colbert, his friend and colleague who began his television career on “The Daily Show.” It was a moving – and hilarious – half hour of passion and outrage and courage (video below). The monolog was not just a tribute to Colbert, but a condemnation of the forces that fired him. Stewart said in part that…

“The fact that CBS didn’t try to save their number one rated network late-night franchise, that’s been on the air for over three decades, is part of what’s making everybody wonder: Was this purely financial? Or maybe the path of least resistance for your $8 billion merger. Was killing a show that you know rankles a fragile and vengeful president, so insecure, suffering terribly from a case of chronic penis insufficiency – truly it’s a viscous disease. I believe CBS lost the benefit of a doubt two weeks prior when they sold out their flagship news program to pay an extortion fee to said president.”

SEE ALSO: Paramount Caves to Trump’s Extortion, Disgraces CBS, Pays a $16M Bribe to Settle a Bogus Lawsuit

Stewart noted that the multibillion dollar value that the media companies enjoy is derived from shows like Colbert, and that if they continue along a path of canceling them in favor of “gruel so flavorless that you will never again be on the boy-king’s radar, then why will anyone watch you? And you are f**cking wrong!”

Stewart also pointed out that capitulating to Trump is futile, because he will only want more. Trump is even suing his main media benefactor, Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News. Which is the network that Stewart correctly observed “spends 24 hours a day blowing Trump. And it’s not enough. Imagine suing someone mid-blow.” Stewart went on to shine the light onto media corporations that have a fear “that is gripping all of America’s institutions at this very moment…”

“Institutions that have chosen not to fight the vengeful and vindictive actions of our pubic hair doodling commander-in-chief. This is not the moment to give in. I’m not giving in. I’m not going anywhere. I think. So to those institutions, those corporations, advertisers, universities and law firms, all of them, if you still think that bending the knee to Trump will save you, I have one thing to say: Sack the f**k up!”

Following that, Stewart launched into a musical rendition, backed by a gospel choir, of the message that he wants to make clear to those cowardly, un-American institutions…“Go F**k Yourself!” Which is a sentiment that Colbert shared…

Stephen Colbert replies to Trump’s post on Truth Social: “How dare you sir? Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go fuck yourself.”

Phil Lewis (@phillewis.bsky.social) 2025-07-22T04:20:24.439Z

For his part, Trump is gloating about Colbert’s cancelation, and hoping for more to come. He delights in the hardship of others, especially if he can assume the “credit” for it. On Tuesday morning he posted a typically puerile comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”

Sadly, while Trump is wrong about his assessment of their talent, he may not be wrong about the fate that awaits Kimmel and Fallon. And you can add to that list Seth Myers and, of course, Jon Stewart himself. After all, his show airs on Comedy Central, which is also owned by Paramount. We’ll see.

It’s heartening to see, in the meantime, that Stewart is not cowed by the cowardly Trumpian corporatists. And it’s pretty certain that wherever any of these valiant entertainers end up, they will rise to ever higher levels of popularity and influence. In fact, it may be a blessing in disguise.

Scaredy Trump Kicks the Wall Street Journal Out of the Press Pool for His Next Junket Overseas

The six month old tenure of Donald Trump’s second occupation of the White House has been a debacle of epic proportions. He has presided over a faltering domestic economy that has resulted in a higher cost of living. And his foreign policy is anchored by fascist round ups of migrants, betrayal of international allies, and threats to Panama, Greenland, and Canada of forced annexation.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch

In the midst of all of that, Trump also seems to be intent on preserving his place as the most hostile American president toward the free press and the protections granted it in the First Amendment of the Constitution. His animosity toward honest, unfettered journalism is evident in his reshaping of the White House press office that is now populated by MAGA cult propagandists and Trump-fluffing Internet trolls. Including a Russian funded MAGA podcaster.

SEE THIS: Trump Declares Himself King of the White House Press Corps, Will Now Decide Who Can Question Him

So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Trump has now banished the Wall Street Journal from the press poll that will accompany him on his upcoming trip to Scotland. Some folks might wonder why Trump would single out a markedly right-wing newspaper owned by his friend – and Fox News owner – Rupert Murdoch. Well, as reported by Politico

“The White House is removing the Wall Street Journal from the pool of reporters covering the president’s weekend trip to Scotland, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told POLITICO. The move follows the Journal’s report alleging that President Donald Trump sent a sexually suggestive message to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.”

That’s right! Trump is lashing out like spurned child against a playmate that was insufficiently adoring and obedient. The article in the Journal described a birthday card that Trump allegedly signed for his pedo-pal, Jeffrey Epstein, as having a line drawing of a naked woman with Trump’s unique and disturbing birthday wish saying that “may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump has already filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal for their article. That case has now been assigned to a judge in the Southern District of Florida who was appointed by President Obama. Ironically, it’s the same District as Trump flunky judge Aileen Cannon. This sets up precisely the scenario that Trump wants. When he loses this meritless case he will blame the judge for being biased and assert that the whole justice system is corrupt.

In the meantime, Trump is proving that he is too afraid to face any questions about his relationship with Epstein, the story about the birthday card, or the lawsuit itself. Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who couldn’t even muster a denial that he is on the Epstein client list, released a statement saying…

“As the appeals court confirmed, the Wall Street Journal or any other news outlet are not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in his private workspaces. Thirteen diverse outlets will participate in the press pool to cover the President’s trip to Scotland. Due to the Wall Street Journal’s fake and defamatory conduct, they will not be one of the thirteen outlets on board.”

If allegations about “fake and defamatory conduct” are the standard for whether a news organization is granted access to the president, then there aren’t very many news organizations that would pass Trump’s test. In addition to the Wall Street Journal, he has already sued ABC News, CBS News, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN. And most of the rest of the media he has declared is “fake” news. That’s why his press pool is infested with suck-ups like One America News, Breitbart, and various online fraudcasters.

If this case actually goes to trial, Trump is unlikely to win. He would have to show evidence that what they published was either knowingly false, or that it had reckless disregard for the truth. And the claim that the Journal “maligned President Trump’s character and integrity” would be difficult to prove, considering that he has no discernable character or integrity.

Nevertheless, some of the other targets of Trump’s multibillion lawsuits have settled with him for a few million dollars due to fear of him using his governmental powers to retaliate against their corporate owners. The Wall Street Journal doesn’t appear to have any pending business that would make such threats viable. And for the time being they are standing firm with a pledge to vigorously defend themselves and their reporting.

However, given Trump’s willingness to abuse the vast power of the federal government, and his friendship with Murdoch, time will tell if they can weather this storm of litigation, or persuade Trump to lay off. In the meantime, they have been shut out of the press pool, along with the Associated Press, and others who offended Trump’s tender fee fees. That’s the risk you take if you comply with an aspiring dictator who seeks to control the media and silence any and all dissenting voices.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: Toddler Trump Dumps a Bucket of Bullpucky in a Pitiful Ploy to Deflect From Epstein

Earlier this month Donald Trump was shaken by the escalation of news reporting about convicted pedophile and sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, and his personal relationship with the man that he called a “terrific guy.” But as the saga unfolded, Trump feigned some measure of confidence that it would be a two day story at worst.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump, Twitter

Two weeks later the story still dominates the news cycle, and has even ballooned into a major scandal for Trump that is weakening his support among many of his previously devoted disciples. And most of the blame for the escalation lies with Trump himself, and his staff who keep fueling the fire with inadvertently incriminating defenses and blatantly obvious efforts to create diversions. Even his Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has contributed to the controversy.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Press Secretary, in a Rambling Defense, Fails to Say Trump is Not in the Epstein Files

On Sunday morning, Trump engaged in the typically Trumpian pursuit to cast alternative scrum into the media sea to distract the sharks from feeding on his political carcass. He posted a flurry of comments on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that only made it more clear how desperate and scared he is.

What follows are some annotated excerpts from his comments. The full postings are linked to TrumpsTruth.org,” a website that reposts his Truth Social remarks, so you don’t have to click through to his website.

Let’s begin with…

…a comment wherein Trump praises himself and the six month anniversary of his second occupation of the White House. He gushes that he is “being hailed as one of the most consequential periods of any President.” Which is technically true. Most people would describe his assault on democracy and the Constitution as “consequential.” However, he went on to claim that “One year ago our Country was DEAD, with almost no hope of revival.” You have to wonder what drugs he is taking that would produce that sort of delusional hysteria.

Next up…

…was Trump’s reporting on his poll numbers. He wrote that “My Poll Numbers within the Republican Party, and MAGA, have gone up, significantly, since the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax […] and are all Republican Party records.” Okay. In some polls there has been a slight uptick in his support by his MAGA cult. Which only tells you something about how deeply indoctrinated they are. However, his support is by no means a record for either party. Although his overall approval rating is at a record low for him.

Mike Johnson fails to mention that Trump's approval rating of 90% is just among Republicans. And other presidents have been even higher among their own party:? George Bush: 99% after 9/11.? Barack Obama: 93% after Obamacare passed.? Joe Biden: 95% after his inauguration.

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-07-18T16:38:02.356Z

Trump went on to say that “People like…all of the many other things I have done.” Which is a flagrant falsehood. He is underwater on nearly every issue, including those he is most closely associated with, such as immigration and the economy.

Next Trump sought…

…to reanimate an old story about the renaming of the Washington Commanders from its previous name, the Redskins. He whined that “The Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this.” The only clamoring for this is from his fellow racists who enjoy using pejorative slurs. But Trump even claimed that “Indians” want this. Which shows just how in touch he is with Native Americans.

In a fit…

…aimed at a perennial foe, Trump raged that “Adam Schiff is a THIEF! He should be prosecuted, just like they tried to prosecute me, and everyone else — The only difference is, WE WERE TOTALLY INNOCENT, IT WAS ALL A GIANT HOAX!” Of course, reality tells us that Sen. Schiff has committed no crime. Trump can’t even cite one. But Trump was convicted by a jury that found him guilty of 34 felonies. He was also found liable for sexual abuse by separate jury in a civil case, which the judge later clarified was rape.

Finally…

…Trump has bought into the lies being promulgated by his Russia-affiliated Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. He wrote that, “In the months leading up to the November 2016 election, the Intelligence Community agreed that there was no Intelligence that reflected that Russia was trying to hack the election.” That preposterous statement contradicts everything known about the well documented plot by Russia to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. His own Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, was the acting chair of the Senate committee that investigated the matter and affirmed Russia’s involvement. This, however, is a more complicated matter that is explained…

IN MORE DETAIL HERE: Trump’s DNI and Fox News Manufacture a New Crackpot Conspiracy Theory Accusing Obama of Treason

Rest assured that the above is only the tip of the iceberg. Trump will continue fanning the flames of his Epstein soap opera until either the media gets tired of it, or he is indicted and resigns. Rest assured also, that most of America is praying for the latter.

UPDATE: Trump has already added a couple more diversionary comments. One in which he threatens the Washington Commanders to change their name back or he would block a new stadium proposal. And one in which he complains that a Wall Street Journal article mentioned that his Treasure Secretary “explained” to him that firing Fed Chair Jerome Powell would tank the stock market. Trump boasted that “People don’t explain to me, I explain to them!” Because he is the messiah that knows all.

Trump’s DNI and Fox News Manufacture a New Crackpot Conspiracy Theory Accusing Obama of Treason

The Propaganda and Deflection Office of Donald Trump’s White House is working overtime trying to draw attention away from Trump’s salacious relationship with convicted pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. To that end Trump has been furiously fomenting alternative “scandals” with which to occupy the minds of his cult followers and the compliant media.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Among the shiny objects that Trump is dangling before the gullible are his utterly meritless lawsuit against his buddy Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal, his attacks on Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, his pretending that he forced Coke to change their ingredients, and his unbridled ecstasy from the firing of comedy legend Stephen Colbert.

SEE THIS: Big Baby Trump Celebrates CBS Firing Stephen Colbert and Hopes that Jimmy Kimmel Will Be Next

Much to Trump’s dismay, none of those valiant attempts at misdirection succeeded in diverting the public from the infinitely more compelling saga of Trump and Epstein. Especially since he keeps juicing the story with more obvious lies that only make him look more afraid and guilty.

Consequently, Trump is floating yet another diversion in order to take the heat off of his potentially criminal lechery. He has ordered his Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, to launch a set of dubious allegations aimed at former President Barack Obama regarding the factual history of Trump’s unsavory association with Russia. And Gabbard was the perfect choice to field queries about Trump’s Russia ties, considering her own long held sympathies for Russia and Kremlin propaganda.

Ever obedient, Gabbard called her comrades at Fox News to unload a steaming pile of political manure. Whereupon, Fox News reported that…

“The Obama administration ‘manufactured and politicized intelligence’ to create the narrative that Russia was attempting to influence the 2016 presidential election, despite information from the intelligence community stating otherwise, Fox News Digital has learned.

“On Friday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents revealing ‘overwhelming evidence’ that demonstrates how, after President Donald Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, then-President Barack Obama and his national security team laid the groundwork for what would be the years-long Trump–Russia collusion probe.”

Naturally, the story on Fox News, based solely on Gabbard’s “evidence” is flagrantly fictional. They went on to quote Gabbard, or her agents, alleging that President Obama had his Intelligence aides alter their reports regarding how Russia tried to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. According to Fox, Gabbard noted the following from Obama’s Intel…

“‘We assess that Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure,’ the Presidential Daily Brief stated.”

From that statement, Gabbard and Fox News attached an analysis concluding that Obama ordered the Intel Community to falsify their reports, asserting that Russia never actually interfered with the election at all. It was all, as Trump would say, a “HOAX!” But for some reason, Trump never bothered to reveal this hoax during his first four year occupation of the white House, or during his reelection campaign against President Biden that he lost.

Furthermore, what Gabbard is alleging is not what the documents she provided actually say. They only say that Russia was not successful in trying to alter the outcome of the election – they “did not impact recent US election results” – not that they didn’t try to do so. And on the basis of those misrepresentations, both Gabbard and Fox News lied that after “investigating the matter for months…”

“…their conclusions ‘clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016.’ And that ‘every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted.’

However, there was no such conspiracy shown, treasonous or otherwise, in Gabbard’s documents. Nevertheless, Gabbard is accusing Obama of a capital crime that would result in his execution if found guilty. And she is including several other Obama administration officials in that accusation, including DNI James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Secretary of State John Kerry, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. If they get their way, Trump’s Death Row in his political gulag is gonna be crowded.

Fox News amplified these abhorrent allegations with segments on multiple programs including Sean Hannity and Fox and Friends. The segment that aired on the Jesse Watters program is typical of the dishonesty that they are disseminating. Watters said that…

“We just got a peek inside Obama’s black book and it turns out Barack knew the Russia hoax was a hoax all along but pushed it anyway to sabotage the Trump presidency. DNI Tulsi Gabbard declassifying pages and pages of documents showing Obama’s intel guys briefed him just weeks after the 2016 election that the Russians didn’t actually sway the election [and that Obama] instructed intel agencies to cook up new reports to support Russia collusion.”

Once again, the actual reports said plainly that Russia did try to interfere with the election, not that they succeeded in changing the outcome. And despite her hyperbolic ranting, that’s what Gabbard’s declassified documents said as well. The spin by Gabbard and Fox News – that factual assertions of Russian interference were a hoax, and that Obama had the reports altered – is downright bizarre and grossly defamatory.

That view was shared by by the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee that investigated all of this five years ago. The acting chairman of that committee was Marco Rubio, who is now Trump’s Secretary of State. The bipartisan Committee report said that

“…the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multifaceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. […] The fifth and final volume focuses on the counterintelligence threat, outlining a wide range of Russian efforts to influence the Trump Campaign and the 2016 election.” […]

“Moscow’s intent was to harm the Clinton Campaign, tarnish an expected Clinton presidential administration, help the Trump Campaign after Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee, and undermine the U.S. democratic process.”

These new allegations are another example of Trump weaponizing the Intelligence agencies over which he presides. Which he is also doing with his Justice, Homeland Security, Treasury, State, and other administration Departments. But it’s even worse than that. He is openly advocating for the execution of his political foes. His remarks on these matters was to say that “I think they’re crooked as hell. And, maybe they have to pay a price for that. I believe they are truly bad people and dishonest people. So, whatever happens, happens.”

If that doesn’t convince his supporters that he is a sociopathic fascist and aspiring authoritarian, in the mold of his heroes Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, nothing will. But for the rest of the American people, this new scandal/deflection makes it all the more imperative to remove Trump from office before he can do more damage.

UPDATE: Trump and his MAGA cronies are pulling out all the stops to promote this phony conspiracy. He posted a frantic blast of ten new comments about it on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, including one citing it as “treasonous.” They consist mostly of links to Fox News and Breitbart, and this poster created by Gabbard’s crew that is nothing but wild innuendos leading to inane conclusions…

Big Baby Trump Celebrates CBS Firing Stephen Colbert and Hopes that Jimmy Kimmel Will Be Next

The innately infantile tendencies of Donald Trump are on display again as he reacts to the announcement by Paramount/CBS that this season will be the last for its hit program, “Late Night with Stephen Colbert,” after ten successful and hilarious years. Colbert himself revealed the bad news to his audience on Thursday night, that the show will go dark when this season ends in May of 2026.

Stephen Colbert & Trump Baby

The timing for this announcement could not be more suspicious. Paramount is in the midst of a proposed multibillion dollar merger with Skydance Media, a firm owned by Trump’s billionaire pals David and Larry Ellison. Paramount recently settled an utterly meritless lawsuit with Trump, paying $16 million to grease the wheels for Trump’s administration to approve the merger.

SEE THIS: Paramount Caves to Trump’s Extortion, Disgraces CBS, Pays a $16M Bribe to Settle a Bogus Lawsuit

Meanwhile, Colbert’s monologue on Monday night addressed the merger and the corrupt settlement. And he was not shy about criticizing what he called a “big fat bribe.”

This Stephen Colbert monologue from Monday night, followed by a bit about the MAGA contingent calling for Trump to release the Epstein files, is the reason why Paramount fired Colbert and canceled his show. That, and the Midterm elections are coming up, and he would continue to go after Trump.

Amee Vanderpool (@girlsreallyrule.bsky.social) 2025-07-18T00:37:15.836Z

No one should be surprised that Trump lashed out maniacally upon hearing about Colbert’s cancelation. Trump posted a typically noxious comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to gloat over what is sad news – not just for Colbert and his staff – but for millions of Americans who find joy and solace in Colbert’s humor and insights.

“I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

There’s a lot of bullpucky stuffed into that blast of explosive dia-rhetoric. Beginning with Trump’s orgasmic pleasure from the hardship of others. More to the point, Trump is hardly a credible source for measuring the talent of any entertainer. His own talent is mainly limited to whining, exalting himself, insulting people, and shamelessly lying.

Trump shows off that, despite 14 seasons on TV, he has a profound ignorance of television ratings. He doesn’t know that Colbert is the highest rated late night talk show, and that its popularity is still growing. It was the only late night show to draw more total viewers in the second quarter of 2025 than it had in the first.

Trump goes on to praise Fox News hate-comic, Greg Gutfeld, whose idea of comedy is mocking the homeless and openly referring to himself a Nazi, as in “What up, my Nazi.” And it makes no sense to compare Colbert to Gutfeld because Gutfeld is not a late night program. It airs at 11:00 PM only on the east coast. Everywhere else in the country he is on in prime time. If Trump knew anything about how ratings work, he would know that you can’t compare programs in different time periods. HUT levels (Homes Using Television) are much higher prime time. Even so, Colbert gets a higher viewing share than Gutfeld.

Trump’s obsession with celebrities is evident in his frequent attacks on those who don’t worship him. In addition to his hatred for Colbert and Kimmel, Trump has recently gone after Rosie O’Donnell, whose citizenship he threatened to revoke and said is “a threat to humanity.” And he maligned Bruce Springsteen as a “dried up old prune.” And he famously posted that “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

So Trump is clearly in touch with the American people, right? I mean, who doesn’t hate Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen? And Trump is currently languishing at record lows in every poll. So it’s all working for him, isn’t it?

And then there's this…"Newsweek's tracker, which shows Trump's net approval rating at an all-time low of -11 points, with 43 percent approving and 54 percent disapproving."www.newsweek.com/donald-trump…

News Corpse (@newscorpse.bsky.social) 2025-07-18T16:51:28.378Z

As for Colbert, he will land on his feet. He has ten months to prepare for the next chapter in his career. He is a valuable brand that could succeed at levels transcending what he achieved at CBS. Many other former mainstream media folk are doing so. In fact, Colbert might have been goading CBS into firing him so that he could prosper more with his own media venture. But Trump will always wallow in mud and, with any luck, will end up in his Alligator Alcatraz.

Trump’s Press Secretary, in a Rambling Defense, Fails to Say Trump is Not in the Epstein Files

AND THE PLOT SICKENS… Much to the dismay pf Donald Trump, the scandalous Jeffrey Epstein affair refuses to go away. Not that he and his White House cronies aren’t making a valiant effort to bury the story. For the past couple of weeks they have alternately claimed that the Epstein files would send many Democrats to prison; or that they don’t exist; or that they exist but were made up by Democrats, who then didn’t bother to use them. And that’s just for starters.

Click here to post this article on Twitter or Click here to post on Bluesky

Donald Trump and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt

The Trumpy excuses continued with claims that there is nothing significant in the files. But that the Democrats altered them, which would be illegal, but Trump and company still won’t release them, even to incriminate the Democrats. It all makes perfect sense – if you’re high on acid. And now Trump is outraged that his cult won’t STFU about the “bullsh*t” Epstein “hoax,” despite his demands that they do so. So he’s calling them “stupid,” “weaklings,” whose support he no longer wants. Never mind that it was a scandal manufactured and spread by Trump and his devotees in the first place.

SEE THIS: Trump Says He Doesn’t Want His Past ‘Weakling’ Supporters Who Bought Into the ‘BS’ Epstein Hoax

This brings us to the next chapter in the Trump/Epstein soap opera. It stars Trump’s Secretary of Propaganda, Karoline Leavitt, who took some questions from the White House press corps, who still want Trump to come clean for once. And that includes this question from – of all people – Fox News White House correspondent, Jacqui Heinrich. She brought up Trump’s assertion that the Epstein files are a hoax, and asked “Which part of the “Epstein Hoax” is the hoax part?” Leavitt replied…

“The president is referring to the fact Democrats have now seized on this. As if they ever wanted transparency when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein. Which is an asinine suggestion for any Democrat to make. The Democrats had control of this building, the White House, for four years, And they didn’t do a dang thing when it came to transparency in regards to Jeffrey Epstein and his heinous crimes. It was this president who directed the Department of Justice and the Attorney General to do an exhaustive review of all files relating to Jeffrey Epstein. Which they did.”

FOX: Which part the Epstein hoax is the hoax part?LEAVITT: The president is referring to the fact that Democrats have now seized on this as if they ever wanted transparency when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-07-17T17:55:21.983Z

Notice that what Leavitt is describing as the “hoax part” is the role that she says Democrats have played in the quest for Trump to release the information held by his Justice Department. She did not say that any allegations that Trump is on Epstein’s client list, or that he participated in the pedophile activity, are a hoax. That’s quite a damning omission. Are we now to assume that those things are true? Also, it isn’t just Democrats who have “seized” on this issue. In fact, it’s mostly Trump’s own cult disciples.

Leavitt’s explanation of the alleged transparency of the Trump regime is also an incoherent mess. If Democrats altered the documents in order to frame Trump, as Trump claims, why would they then withhold those documents? And if the Justice Department did “an exhaustive review,” as Leavitt claims, why would Trump refuse to release the documents following that review? Leavitt later added that…

“The Attorney General and the FBI, led by Pam Bondi, Dan Bongino, Kash Patel. These are great patriots. Some of the most trusted voices in the Republican Party movement. It’s part of the reason the president appointed them to these high law enforcement positions.”

Notice that Leavitt praises them as “trusted voices in the Republican Party movement,” not trusted voices in America, or in law enforcement. Her description of them as blatantly partisan makes them entirely inappropriate for the positions that Trump gave them. Then Leavitt closed by saying that…

“The president has been transparent. He has followed through on his promises to the American people. But he doesn’t like to see Democrats and the mainstream media covering this like it’s the biggest story the American people care about.”

Leavitt: "The president doesn't like to see Democrats and the mainstream media covering [Epstein] like it's the biggest story the American people care about. The president has been working so hard this week."

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-07-17T17:56:48.641Z

First of all, Trump, by definition, has not been transparent, because he refuses to release the files. Secondly, he hasn’t kept his promises to the American people, because he promised to release the files. And finally, it’s no wonder that he doesn’t like to see the media covering this issue, because he knows what is in those files, which probably has something to do with why he refuses to release them. So maybe Trump should – oh, I don’t know – release the files? And maybe Leavitt should stop lying, for a change.
