Trump and His Propaganda Secretary Have No Idea What the State of the Union Address Is For

On Tuesday night Donald Trump will be straying from his customary schedule of golfing, dining at the Mar-a-Lago buffet, and rage-watching Fox News, to deliver his State of the Union address (SOTU) before a joint session of Congress. It’s going to be a strain on him physically and mentally, but he’ll soldier through, if only to bask in the adoration of his MAGA GOP disciples.

The State of the Union is a constitutionally mandated duty of any president. Although it doesn’t have to be delivered live or in a speech, it has become a traditional affair since first being broadcast on television live in primetime by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. Now 60 years later, Trump is planning to diminish its significance further with the help of his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

The SOTU is supposed to be a dissertation on the current welfare of the nation. Presidents are expected to give an honest appraisal of the country’s condition on matters of importance both domestically and internationally. However, Trump will have difficulty with that objective considering that it requires being honest, something that he is congenitally incapable of.

The pre-speech comments by Trump reveal that he actually has no idea what the SOTU is intended for. He thinks that it’s just another platform for him to spew self-serving lies to exalt himself and malign his political foes. He deliberately lied to reporters on Monday saying that…

“We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had. We have the most activity we’ve ever had. I’m making a speech tomorrow night, and you’ll be hearing me say that. It’s going to be a long speech because we have so much to talk about.”

So Trump has no intention of telling the truth about the State of the Union. He is promising instead to ramble on interminably about how magnificent he is, and all of the wonderful, albeit imaginary, things that he’s done. Never mind that reality vehemently contradicts him. The country is still suffering from high inflation that is mainly due to his idiotic tariffs. His ICE agents are terrorizing American citizens along with law-abiding immigrants. We are threatening war against foreign nations without any rational cause. All of which has contributed to his historically abysmal approval ratings.

By pontificating on what he believes are his glorious accomplishments, Trump is actually just reminding everyone about what a pitiful failure he is. The people know how much their groceries cost, and how much they are paying for other necessities, including housing and healthcare. No amount of gaslighting by Trump will persuade any but his most brainwashed cult devotees that we are living in a Trumpian utopia.

Nevertheless, the Trump regime is dead set on trying to convince the American people that everything is just hunky dory. Which is why Trump’s Propaganda Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, was out Tuesday morning previewing the lies that Trump plans to disseminate in his speech tonight.

“He’ll be sharing these stories again of everyday Americans who are directly benefiting from his policies, and making a few new policy announcements as well as to continue tackling the affordability crisis that Joe Biden created one year ago, And the president will be talking about the positive metrics we have seen and moving forward towards making life again more affordable and prosperous for all Americans.”

Just like Trump, Leavitt is squarely focused on delivering a speech that celebrates Trump and his fantasies of fabulousness. She even slips in a slam on President Biden, who could not have created an affordability crisis a year ago because he was not president then. Also, didn’t Trump say that the whole “affordability” thing was a hoax?

The SOTU promises to be another lengthy harangue by Trump that wouldn’t pass for plausible fiction. However, it may offer some drama. While he has said that he’s inviting MAGA-tized guests like Erika Kirk (Charlie’s widow), Democrats will be attending with some Epstein/Trump survivors, and victims of his ICE thugs. So will have to face some of those who he hurt the most.

While Trump will be pitching a preposterously rosy scenario, it’s safe to assume that he won’t be mentioning at all some of the critical issues that the American people really care about. Such as the current government shutdown, his inflationary tariffs, his loss at the Supreme Court, his impending war with Iran, his obstructing the release of the Trump-Epstein files, or so many other matters that he’s anxious to suppress because they reflect negatively (i.e. realistically) on him.

If Trump thinks that this address is going to reverse his sinking popularity, he’s going to be sorely disappointed. And that disappointment will likely trigger even more raving madness from Trump. So fasten your seats belts. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride. And in the meantime, watch the “People’s State of the Union“ instead.

Consequently, the annual State of Union address is a profoundly significant event that has the potential to make or break a president, depending on how they perform, and how the public perceives it. In Trump’s case it is another chance to deceive America with ludicrous claims of fictitious accomplishments, rancid insults aimed at his many perceived political enemies, tiresome repetitions of imagined offenses, and egomaniacal exaltations of his delusional magnificence.

Naturally, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is feverishly working to promote Dear Leader prior to his big day before Congress and the nation. And who better than Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, to spearhead the effort to pump up Trump. So on her morning program on Monday she unloaded this bit of buffoonery…

“It’s incredible to me that it appears to be that the Democrats are so angry about President Trump’s success – he’s been so successful on so many levels and has done things so fast – that now the Democrats are boycotting the State of the Union. Adam Schiff, Mr. Russia Collusion himself, said he’s not gonna show up to the State of the Union tomorrow night.”

Bartiromo is right. Trump has been incredibly successful. At exacerbating inflation; at raising the cost of living for everyone but the rich; at causing healthcare premiums to skyrocket; at terrorizing law-abiding residents of Democratic run cities; at decimating regulations that mitigate the harm of Climate Change; at blowing up boats with potentially innocent fisherman in the Caribbean; at alienating America’s international allies, while embracing authoritarian foes; at undermining the First Amendment and suppressing the free press; and at destroying the Republican Party and any hopes they had of maintaining their majorities in Congress.

What’s more, Bartiromo is demonstrating that she is just as out of touch with the American people as Trump is. She appears to be utterly unaware that Trump’s standing among voters is historically low. On Monday morning CNN’s polling analyst, Harry Enten, observed that Trump is floundering in deeply negative territory.

“Trump’s net approval rating, look at all the pre-SOTU polls…negative 27 points…Compare that to where he was in 2020, 2019, and 2018, in term one going into those State of the Unions…way lower now. The bottom line is this: Donald Trump has never been weaker going into a State of the Union address, according to our CNN polling, than he is right now. And weaker by a considerable amount. [And] Trump isn’t just weaker than he’s ever been going into a State of the Union address, he’s weaker than any other president this century going into a State of the Union address at this point in their second term.”

Bartiromo is obviously taking her cues from Trump himself. He is fervently gaslighting the nation, telling reporters on Monday that “We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had.” But with nonsense like that he’s just reminding voters, who know better, that he is woefully out of touch with their lives. Democrats are likely to be hoping that he keeps telling these lies, because he’s really helping their electoral prospects in November.

As for the State of the Union, there is a respite for those who don’t want to be tortured by another hour or two of Trump spitting lies and rage-whining. As Bartiromo was kind enough to point out, MeidasTouch and MoveOn are hosting a People’s State of the Union. And Kid Rock is guaranteed not to be there.

His MAGA-sty King Trump Demands Netflix Fire Board Member Susan Rice – Or ‘Pay the Consequences’?

With the emergence of His MAGA-sty Donald Trump and his cult crusade, even the charade of interest in limited government was abandoned. No president has been more determined to interfere in the affairs of private persons and businesses than Trump. And his MAGA cultists in the GOP are so cowardly (or brainwashed? Power hungry? Stupid?) that they refuse to defy him and stand up for their alleged political values. Nowhere is that more evident than with Trump’s assaults on the media that he frequently refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.”

On Saturday Trump was suffering another of his childish temper tantrums triggered by the ravings of one of his favorite fawning followers, Laura Loomer. So in a fit of fury Trump posted the following tirade to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social…

“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences. She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what??? Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT”

First of all, Susan Rice is highly respected as a former presidential National Security Advisor and Ambassador to the United Nations. And Trump’s demand that Netflix fire Rice is the sort of unseemly intrusion into the business affairs of a company that would be expected in a totalitarian dictatorship. Which is clearly what Trump aspires to.

Furthermore, Trump’s reference to Rice, who is Black, as a racist is itself blatant racism. So are his knee-jerk personal insults of her as having “no talent or skills.” That’s typical of his opinions of Black people who dare to disagree with him. He is particularly dismissive of women of color, who he regularly maligns as “low IQ,” including Kamala Harris, Jasmine Crockett, Maxine Waters, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and more.

For the record, Rice is a member of the Netflix Board of Directors, not an employee. Therefore, she was not “hired” by Netflix and cannot be fired. To become a member of the Board you must be nominated, and then elected by shareholders. Consequently, removal of a director is achieved by a subsequent vote of shareholders. In rare cases of documented misconduct, breach of fiduciary duty, or criminal activity, the corporation may petition a court to intervene. However, none of that applies to Rice.

Trump was responding to a ludicrous tweet by deranged Trump cult devotee, Laura Loomer, wherein she claims that Rice said that “corporations who took a ‘knee to Trump’ will face an ‘accountability agenda’ from elected Democrats if they win the midterms in 2026.” But in reality, all that Rice said (video here) was that the elites in the weak and complicitous corporations, law firms, universities, tech companies, and media, who kissed Trump’s…let’s say ring, would learn that “Trump is not popular [and that] there is likely to be a swing in the other direction [and that] if they’ve done something wrong they will be held accountable.” As they should be.

Loomer expanded on that nonsense with a series of bizarre allegations that Rice was “threatening half of the country;” that Netflix is “an anti-American, WOKE company;” and that Michelle and Barack Obama were conspiring with Netflix to orchestrate “witch hunts against Trump” via their “significant stake” in the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger.

Of course, none of that contains a shred of truth. Rice didn’t threaten anyone. And the Obamas simply have a production company that makes films that are shown on Netflix. And Rice’s remarks were aimed specifically at elites, who certainly do not comprise “half of the country.”

Loomer concluded by demanding that “Trump must kill the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger now.” And Trump’s embrace of Loomer’s tweeted rant is evidence that he intends to improperly intervene in the merger process between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix, on behalf of his friends David and Larry Ellison at Paramount. Which he previously said he would do, then said that he wouldn’t, and now is back to implying that he will.

Trump’s intrusion on the business affairs of Netflix, Warner Bros., and Paramount is not only contrary to traditional conservative values, it is illegal and immoral. Consequently, it is just the sort of nefarious misconduct that Trump would enthusiastically engage in. And his glassy-eyed cult disciples love him all the more for it. But the majority of Americans find it – and him – reprehensible. And as Rice said, Trump and his minions “will be held accountable” when Democrats regain majorities in Congress, and eventually the White House.

News enterprises that have endured many decades of political pressure are caving in to the threats of retribution for refusing to slant their reporting in favor of the powerful autocrats occupying the White House. For instance, the Washington Post has taken a decidedly more positive approach to Trump, and even paid $40 million for the rights to the flopping “Melania” crockumentary. ABC News paid millions of dollars to Trump as a settlement (aka bribe) for a meritless lawsuit. CBS News has been censoring their stories, their reporters, and even their late night comedians.

The granddaddy of cable news networks, CNN, apparently doesn’t want to be left out. Which might explain why they keep someone like Scott Jennings on the payroll. Jennings appears on CNN panel shows to add his knee-jerk adulation of all things Trump. His contributions consist mainly of disseminating lies, insulting his colleagues on the panel, interrupting everybody, including the host, Abby Phillip, and exalting Dear Leader Trump.

Jennings was demonstrating all of that on Friday during a discussion of the Supreme Court decision striking down Trump’s idiotic, inflationary, and illegal tariffs. During an exchange with liberal pundit, Keith Boykin, Jennings revealed precisely where his loyalties lie. And Boykin wasn’t having it…

Keith Boykin: That was a very charitable explanation of what took place today, Scott. You should be paid a lot of money from the Trump administration for helping to…
Jennings: No, I get paid a lot of money here.
Boykin: I know you do. And other places too. But you should be paid by the Trump administration for what you said because the reality is that the president didn’t just accept the ruling like you said he did.”
Jennings: Yes, he did.
Boykin: No. He got up there in the press conference today, and he attacked the U.S. Supreme Court justices. He said that they should be embarrassed for their families for making a decision that stood up to him. He attacked them and said they were disloyal and unpatriotic. He said they were disloyal to the Constitution. That’s more than disagreement. That’s irresponsible rhetoric.

Boykin was right about Trump’s hostile response to the ruling. Trump not only did not accept the Court’s decision, he explicitly rejected it, insisting that he would try to evade the law by imposing his tariffs anyway via other unscrupulous means. And in the meantime, he went ballistic on the members of the Court, including his own appointees, who had the audacity to rule against him.

Boykin was also right about who ought to be paying Jennings’ salary. Jennings is a shameless mouthpiece for Trump and his regime. No matter what atrocity Trump might be responsible for, Jennings defends him. That includes Trump’s unsavory relationship with child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, and his refusal to release all of the Epstein files.

Who knows? Maybe Trump is already compensating Jennings under the table for his adulatory advocacy. Maybe he’s getting some bitcoin deposits that are untraceable. Jennings has been considering a run for the Senate in Kentucky, and perhaps Trump has expressed his interest in endorsing him.

In any case, CNN has no business providing Jennings with a platform for his propaganda. That’s what Fox News is for. There are plenty of conservative pundits who are not such pitifully worshipful adherents to the cult of Trump, and who could deliver far more rational perspectives of the conservative point of view than the childish insults and attacks that Jennings specializes in.

CNN should fire Jennings immediately. Not for his political views. but for his hostility, his lies, his disrespect for the host and all other women on the program, and his smug admission that he’s only in it for the money. CNN doesn’t need any of that, And neither does their audience. What’s left of it.

The Idiocy of Trump: Responding to the Supreme Court Nixing His Tariffs Trump – Raises Tariffs?

Just when you think that Trump has done or said something that has to be as low as he could possibly go, he always manages to find a way to go even lower. Whether it’s about windmills causing cancer, or cutting drug prices by 1,200%, or making Canada the 51st state, Trump revels in his ignorance and the willingness of his glassy-eyed cult followers to accept it.

The latest example of this Olympic-class asininity came Friday morning shortly after the Supreme Court struck down his inflationary tariffs as an unconstitutional tax on American businesses and consumers. In a 6-3 decision, the Court ruled that Trump’s tariffs are not permitted under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) that he improperly cited as justification.

This ruling is a rare rebuke from a Court that has been extraordinarily subservient to Trump. And in this matter they might have actually been doing him a favor. By undoing his ill-considered economic trade policies, the Court handed Trump an excuse to abandon the massively unpopular tariffs (64% disapproval) that have resulted in raising the costs of nearly everything that the American people buy. Ditching the tariffs could have brought those prices down, and Trump could have taken credit for it.

But no! Trump’s immediate response, provided in a hastily scheduled press conference, was to do exactly the opposite. He announced that he would instead “sign an order to impose a 10% global tariff under Section 122, over and above our normal tariffs already being charged.”

Let’s let the insanity of that response sink in. First of all, Trump is waving off the opportunity to claim credit for lowering the cost of living, which is the number one concern of voters today. And he is doing it by declaring that he intends to skirt the law as laid down by the Court’s ruling. What’s more, he is even raising the tariffs, not because of any rational reason or action on the part of the tariffed countries, but just because he feels like it after not getting his way with the Supreme Court. Poor baby.

Trump went on to say that he would rely on “other alternatives [to] replace the ones the court incorrectly rejected.” He claims that those alternatives will allow him to “take in more money.” Which, of course, will just reinstate his tariff tax on the American people at an increased level.

Trump also insulted the Justices who voted to strike down his tariffs as “a disgrace to our nation.” That includes the conservative Republican Justices Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Chief Justice John Roberts. And he made the absolutely bizarre contention that “Now the [Supreme] Court has given me the unquestioned right to…destroy foreign countries.” Which the Court never even implied, but which is something that he has already been doing (See Venezuela).

So in the wake of a perfectly rational decision by the Supreme Court, that Trump didn’t bother to dispute with any substantive arguments, he is going to make life more difficult for the American people and for our international allies, while simultaneously launching yet another round of court challenges to his unlawful, authoritarian aspirations. All of that should further endear him to voters come November. And they already despise him in near record numbers. Smart move, Donnie.

“The Commission of Fine Arts just approved, unanimously, 6 to 0, with one recusal because he had a conflict in that he worked professionally on the job, the White House Ballroom. Great accolades were paid to the building’s beauty and scale. Thank you to the members of the Commission! President DJT”

What Trump doesn’t bother to mention is that the Commission is populated entirely by his own appointees. Back in October of 2025, Trump fired every member of the Commission to replace them with his own loyal minions. Is anyone surprised that they all voted to support his vanity project? for the record…

October 29, 2025: “The White House has fired six members of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, the independent federal agency that advises the president and Congress on design plans for monuments, memorials, coins and federal buildings. The seven member commission is made up of experts in architecture, art, urban and landscape design. Since its creation in 1910, the commission has reviewed plans for everything from Arlington National Cemetery to Maya Lin’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial.”

February 19, 2026: “The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, a panel made up of President Donald Trump’s appointees, on Thursday approved his proposal to build a ballroom larger than the White House itself where the East Wing once stood.” […] “The National Trust for Historic Preservation has sued in federal court to halt construction of the ballroom. A court decision in the case is pending.”

Trump’s behavior with regard to the Commission is consistent with his prior behavior to honor himself by renaming Washington institutions, such as the Institute for Peace and the Kennedy Center, after himself. He is also floating more such conceited rebranding, including Dulles International Airport and New York’s Penn Station. And he has already launched Trump Accounts, Trump Visas, and TrumpRX.

These are the extraordinarily vainglorious acts of a malignant narcissist. They make a totalitarian tyrant like North Korea’s Kim Jong Un blush. But to Trump it’s all in a day’s worship. Which explains why he also just hung a massive banner on the Justice Department building declaring that it is no longer an independent agency of law, but the personal firm of defense attorneys for Trump as he battles, among other things, charges of pedophilia emanating from the Epstein files.

One particular post by Trump vividly displays just how worried he is about the faltering state of his presidency, his historically depressed approval ratings, and the dismal prospects for his crumbling MAGA movement in the upcoming midterm elections. While he has never let go of his obsession with having lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump posted a comment that reaches a pathetic new low, even for him. The post said in part that…

“In the 2020 election, states using Dominion voting machines allegedly switched 435,000 votes from Trump to Biden and deleted 2.7 MILLION Trump votes. […] The mainstream media, Dominion, ES&S, and many Democrats lied about voting machines.”

Trump just posted this 5 year old OAN video alleging that the 2020 election was stolen.OAN was sued for defamation over these lies. They cost Fox News $787 million.

Trump’s post links to a video from One America News Network (OAN). They were sued by Dominion Voting Systems for their lies that Dominion conspired to rig the election. They are the same lies that Fox News ended up paying a settlement to Dominion for 3/4 of a billion dollars.

OAN has already settled a defamation suit brought by a former Dominion executive in 2023, as well as a defamation suit brought by Smartmatic, another voting-tech company, in April 2024. But it has not reached a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems itself.

Nevertheless, this is what Trump saw fit to present to his cult disciples this morning. It’s essentially the same message that he tweeted five years ago…

Trump is going to be sorely disappointed that this scheme doesn’t distract people from his accountability for his Epstein affiliation. This won’t work any better than his threats to Greenland, his persecution of Democrats in Congress, or his efforts to aggrandize himself by renaming the Kennedy Center. To the contrary, it will only remind people of his corruption and dishonesty. So the best response to him now is simply, “Please proceed, Mr. Trump”

It is just his latest attempt to shape the media into the propaganda arm of his Reich House operation.

Three weeks ago Trump’s crony FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, announced that he was considering a plan to alter the long-standing rules regarding “Equal Time” on television. It was a blatant attempt to put an end to criticism of Trump from TV talk show hosts and their guests. Since the Equal Time rules were implemented there have been exceptions for newsworthy interviews on both news and entertainment programs. But Trump’s childish and emotional insecurity has resulted in his seeking to stifle his critics by any means necessary.

On Monday night’s episode of “Late Night with Stephen Colbert,” Colbert revealed that the executives at CBS had prohibited him from airing an interview with James Talarico, a Democratic Senate candidate from Texas. However, Colbert, whose number one show has already been canceled and will end it’s ten year long run in May, was not taking this censorship quietly. He delivered a smackdown of CBS and the FCC that was both troubling and hilarious. What follows are some choice excerpts followed by the video…

“You know who is not one of my guests tonight? That’s Texas State Representative James Talarico. He was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network’s lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast. I was told, in some uncertain terms, that not only could I not have him on, I could not mention me not having him on. And because my network clearly does not want us to talk about this, let’s talk about this. […]

“Carr said he was thinking about dropping the exception for talk shows because he said some of them were motivated by partisan purposes. Well, sir, you’re chairman of the FCC. So, FCC YOU! Because I think you are motivated by partisan purposes yourself.” […]

“[Trump] wants to silence anyone who says anything bad about Trump on TV because all Trump does is watch TV. He’s like a toddler with too much screen time. He gets cranky and then drops a load in his diapers. So, it’s no surprise that two of the people most affected by this threat are me and my friend Jimmy Kimmel.”

After Colbert’s righteous rant, he told the audience that, while the network would not allow him to broadcast the Talarico interview, there was nothing stopping him from posting it on his YouTube page. And therefore…

There is, however, a surprisingly happy ending to this story. The goal of CBS and their masters in the Trump regime was to stifle any and all voices who were less than worshipful of Dear Leader Trump. But the result of their censorship was to drive more people to this interview than would otherwise have even heard that it existed. Note the numbers…

For Colbert’s FCC rant…

  • YouTube: 2.3 Million views (Update: 3.3 million)
  • Facebook: 2.8 million views (Update: 3.8 million)

For Colbert’s James Talarico interview…

  • YouTube: 2.6 Million views (Update: 5.6 million)
  • Facebook: 1.8 million views. (Update: 3.0 million)

Millions more views were racked up on other social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. In total, it was far more than the average audience for Colbert’s show, which in early February of 2026 was about 2.3 million viewers nightly.

So CBS, at the urging of the Trump regime, has succeeded in helping Colbert and Talarico to draw a much bigger audience than they would have if there were no improper government interference. So thanks for that.

Although, it is still outrageously unacceptable for the government to interfere at all. And particularly in such a partisan manner wherein they deliberately put pressure on late night talk shows that have been critical of Trump, while openly admitting that conservative talk radio would not be subject to similar muzzling.

The American people are not going to stand for this sort of censorship and tyranny. And the more that Trump and his comrades try to force it down our throats, the more they will lose and bury their own electoral prospects in the upcoming midterms and beyond.

UPDATE: CBS issued a memo disputing Stephen Colbert’s account of how the FCC pressured the network to spike the James Talarico interview. But they only made matters worse.

Disgraced CBS News Is Intent On Keeping a Known Jeffrey Epstein Associate On Its News Team

He has assaulted it with retributive prosecutions, meritless lawsuits, and always infantile insults aimed at honest journalists (mostly women) who had the audacity to report the truth about him.

Donald Trump on CBS News (See BS)

Sadly, Trump has had some success in that brazenly fascist undertaking due to the cowardice and/or complicity of some the big media conglomerates who feared Trump’s retribution or who were feebly seeking favor from the corrupt and self-serving Trump regime. Their subservience has been evident in their groveling concessions to settle ludicrous legal disputes by paying millions of dollars in phony damages – aka bribes. And none has more obviously knelt down to Herr Trump than the toadies at Paramount.

Now CBS has embarked on a new and more insidious scandal involving a sleazy “doctor,” Peter Attia, with known ties to child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, that he admits. CBS is owned by Paramount, which in turn is owned by Trump’s buddy and fellow billionaire, Larry Ellison. His corporate monolith is now seeking, via a hostile stock bid, to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, which owns, among other things, CNN. Trump has already given his blessing to that proposed merger, despite the fact that Warner has accepted an offer from Netflix. Perhaps that’s because Ellison promised to make changes that Trump wants.

Shortly after Ellison merged his company with Skydance Media, owned by his son, David, they installed the notoriously right-wing blogger, Bari Weiss, to run CBS News, even though she had zero experience or qualifications to assume that position. Her brief tenure has already seen her make some abhorrent decisions, including censoring CBS’ 60 Minutes by nixing a segment on the El Salvador torture camp that Trump has been sending migrants to.

A few weeks ago Weiss announced that she was going to hire a bunch of MAGA-tized cronies from her Internet website to join CBS News. Among them was the disreputable “doctor” Attia. But that announcement was quickly marred by a revelation that ought to have doomed his appointment. According to The Guardian…

“Two weeks after a trove of files revealed extensive – and inappropriate – communications between Jeffrey Epstein and a recently named CBS News contributor, the longevity expert Peter Attia, the network appears to have settled on keeping him. […] Attia is one of the 19 on-air contributors that editor-in-chief Bari Weiss said she was ‘so excited’ to announce.” […]

“[O]n 30 January, the justice department’s release of millions of documents showed that Attia had expressed a fondness for Epstein and used extremely graphic language in at least one email to him. That Attia had met with Epstein was previously known before CBS News hired him.”

Attia’s name appears in the Epstein files more than 1,800 times. His emails to Epstein express his unsettling affection for him, as well as his creepy concern that he “can’t tell a soul” about their unsavory friendship. He also recalls that he felt “spoiled after staying in your great place.” And yet, Attia defended the relationship saying that “I was not involved in any criminal activity.” Nevertheless, he went on to say that “I apologize and regret putting myself in a position where emails, some of them embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible, are now public.”

Notice that Attia is defending what he just called indefensible. And it appears that the only problem he has with any of it is that it became public. How Weiss and the Ellisons can continue to justify the hiring of this slimeball is incomprehensible. But it is consistent with the immorality that is the hallmark of the Era of Trump and the aversion to ethics that Trump represents and for which he is the role model of indecency. So Attia will fit right in.

UPDATE: Trump Hasn’t Updated His Much Ballyhooed White House Media Bias Web Page in Months

Nothing has been a bigger priority for Donald Trump during his occupation of the White House than denigrating the free press and taking aggressive actions to suppress it. He relentlessly insults any journalist with the courage to report the truth about him (especially women), and he works tirelessly to promote the Trump-fluffing media that adoringly exalts him no matter how humiliating or dangerous his actions are.

Donald Trump and Media - ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, FOX

Late last year Trump directed his White House Internet team to create and post a web page that he said would expose the bias in the media. Of course, in Trump’s mind that meant only what he considered to be bias. Consequently, Trump’s media bias web page focused solely on news organizations that accurately documented his words and deeds, which invariably reflected negatively on him.

At the time that Trump’s media bias page was launched, it featured as it’s first target an article about the six members of Congress who appeared in a video wherein they reminded those in the military of their sworn duty to not comply with illegal orders. That resulted in the Trump regime seeking to prosecute them for sedition, with Trump saying that their alleged crime was “punishable by death.”

Trump’s efforts to assassinate sitting members of Congress for advocating following the law were recently foiled by a grand jury that rejected the attempt to indict them. But that has not deterred the Trump regime from it’s campaign to revoke the First Amendment. Now they are going after independent journalist, Don Lemon.

Meanwhile, Trump’s media bias web page moved on from the “illegal orders” story to one wherein they caught a gaffe by CNN’s Jake Tapper. He prematurely reported on December 4th that a suspect in the Washington, D.C. pipe bomb case was White. When more details became available, Tapper corrected the story. However, the White House media bias web page has not been updated since then.

So Trump’s media bias web page has been dormant for over two months. Never mind the fanfare with which they announced it. It now appears to have been abandoned. Which is typical of the Trump regime’s notoriety for incompetence. The web site seems to share with Trump a profoundly short attention span.

No American president has had as hostile an attitude toward the media as Trump. He routinely refers to the press in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.” He displays his rancid animus toward honest journalism in his knee-jerk and meritless lawsuits and his infantile insults. His vicious attacks on reporters as “creeps,” “stupid,” and “ugly,” are the price paid for daring to report honestly. The problem is that it’s also the sign of an emerging autocracy.

Donald Trump has launched a "Media Bias" web page on the White House website. And guess what?

The good news is that Trump will soon forget all about whatever imagined offense he is fixated on at any given time as soon as some other shiny object is waved in front of his face. And while that may be good news for the victims of his demented anger, that sort of dementia is a frighteningly horrible trait in a national leader.
