Crybaby Trump Whines About Flags Being at Half Mast for Jimmy Carter During His Inauguration

As the new year begins, Donald Trump is demonstrating the character – or lack thereof – for which he is notorious. And nothing represents the Trump brand more than his incessant and petulant whining. It’s something that he is proud of, having bragged himself – on video – that he is “the most fabulous whiner.”

In addition to his prowess as a whiner, Trump is also proving his mettle as a pitifully sore winner. Despite having been reelected – albeit by a historically narrow margin – he can’t seem to stop complaining about how miserable he is and how put upon as a victim of his innumerable perceived enemies. Consequently, he resorts to venting his spleen by attacking the country he is pretending to serve.

On Friday morning, Trump took to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to let loose his wrath on what he seems to believe was a personal vendetta carried out by the late Pres. Jimmy Carter, as a conspiracy to die shortly before Trump’s inauguration. Trump raged that…

“The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration. They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves. Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years – It’s a total mess! In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Let’s begin to dissect this dim-bulb diatribe from the beginning. Trump’s assertion that “Democrats are giddy” has no basis in reality, and he doesn’t bother to cite any examples. The only message that Democrats have in lowering the flags to half mast is one of respect and tribute to an honorable former President.

It is Trump who is only thinking about himself, as usual. He can’t comprehend the notion of paying tribute to someone other than himself. And if anyone else should try to do so, he believes it is a deliberate affront to him. So he lashes out and disparages the whole country as being “a total mess.” All because he is butthurt by the prospect of his exaltation …er… inauguration being screwed up by the inconsideration of Carter choosing to die at a time that is so inconvenient to Trump.

A decent political leader would be proud to be inaugurated with flags at half mast in honor of an esteemed predecessor. They would find a way to pay a personal tribute in their inaugural address. But not Trump. He sees it as a stain on his day of glory that “no American can be happy about.” And he closes by making a veiled threat saying “Let’s see how it plays out.” Is Trump plotting to raise the flags, or otherwise disrupt Carter’s remembrance?

For good measure, that was not the only thing that Trump was whining about on Friday morning. He also complained about President Biden awarding Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson the Presidential Citizens Medal for their work co-chairing the January 6th Committee that investigated the insurrection that Trump incited. And Trump’s whimpering was predictably littered with flagrant lies. Here is what he wrote with annotated fact checks…

Trump: “Biden gave Liz Cheney a Medal yesterday, even though she has proven to be totally corrupt. She, ‘Bennie’ Thompson, and the rest of the Unselect Committee, destroyed and deleted all evidence from their crooked investigation of January 6th.”
Fact: No evidence was destroyed or deleted, and it is still available online.

Trump: “Liz Cheney, Cryin’ Adam Kinzinger, Bennie Thompson, and the rest of these dishonest Thugs have gotten away with horrible things under the pretense of January 6th. Nancy Pelosi refused to accept the help which was offered for security.”
Fact: Trump’s own national security staffers denied that any offer of help was made. What’s more, the security of the District of Columbia is the President’s responsibility, which was Trump at the time.

Trump: “They have destroyed the lives of many people, and are rewarded by getting Biden Fake Medals. This is not America.”
Fact: There is nothing fake about the medals. And the people whose lives Trump says were destroyed were the violent rioters who assaulted the Capitol, threatened the lives of Congress members and his own VP, and sent 140 police officers to the hospital. He is still insisting that “Everybody on that committee…should go to jail.” While he also promises to pardon his criminal StormTrumpers.

Trump’s belligerence is escalating as his reoccupation of the White House nears. And his MAGA/Project 2025 agenda is every bit as bad as feared. So can we finally put to rest the nonsense that Trump has – or can – mature and behave like a statesman, or even an adult? He is an imminent danger to democracy and is as anti-American as it gets. And the keyword for Democrats, and all patriots, for the next four years is RESIST!

Well, almost everyone. True to form, Donald Trump is plagued by his persistent fits of distemper and hostility aimed at the armies of perceived enemies that he imagines are converging to destroy him. While others are preparing for parties and good times with loved ones, Trump generally celebrates holidays like these with infantile attacks on the conspirators plotting against him, such as his message last year…

Heartwarming, isn’t it? This year Trump continues to focus on the tribulations of his miserable existence. For someone who is always bragging about his wealth and success at everything he does, he sure seems to complain a lot. And on New Year’s Eve morning Trump was furious that the Senate, whose constitutional duty it is to provide “advice and consent” to presidential nominees, actually has the audacity to plan confirmation hearings. Trump raged that…

“We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees. They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that. We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!”

Let’s begin to unpack that harangue by noting that Trump’s claim to have “won a Historic Landslide and Mandate” is a flagrant lie. The margin of victory over Vice-President Kamala Harris was a mere 1.6%, one of the narrowest margins in modern history. Consequently, the only mandate he has is in his ego-warped, cartoon brain.

The remainder of Trump’s rant addresses his outrage that Democrats in the Senate, and even a few Republicans, intend to hold confirmation hearings to assess the suitability of Trump’s Cabinet and White House nominees. And no wonder he’s upset. His nominees are profoundly unqualified, inexperienced, and utterly unfit for the jobs that Trump nominated them to perform. Many of Trump’s nominees are, in fact, downright hostile toward the departments they are being asked to run. For instance…

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, advocates terminating most of the experts at the Food and Drug administration, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  • Kash Patel, his nominee for FBI Director, has promised to go after the media as well as members of the Bureau for imaginary crimes against Trump.
  • Pete Hegseth, his nominee for Secretary of Defense, has advocated on behalf of soldiers convicted of war crimes.
  • Pam Bondi, his nominee for Attorney General, says she will prosecute the U.S. attorneys under her in the Justice Department.
  • Linda McMahon, his nominee for Secretary of Education, has called for the Education Department to eliminated.

In Trump’s mind, the hearings themselves are “improper” and meant to stall the consecration of his blindly loyal apparatchiks. He believes that Democrats are engaging in “tricks” by inquiring into the qualifications of Trump’s flunkies. And he is beseeching his fellow Republicans to prohibit the Senate from fulfilling their Constitutional duties.

These are the demands of an aspiring authoritarian who seeks unchallenged power and unflinching fealty to Dear Leader. And the fact that Trump is obsessing over this on a day that most other Americans are celebrating the new beginnings of a new year tells you just how serious he is about exalting himself as the this new year unfolds.

Trump must not be allowed to prevail in this wholly un-American perversion of democratic principles. The American people must resist his assault on our Constitution and the liberties it provides. And the resistance begins right after we’re done partying and celebrating the turning of the calendar’s page. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Some Democrats are Planning to Boycott the Inauguration of Trump. Here’s a Better Idea!

In a little more than a month, Donald Trump will stand on the steps of the Capital that he sent his StormTrumpers to assault about four years ago in an attempt to undermine democracy. While there he will lie that he swears to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” That’s the same Constitution that he has said that he wants to terminate.

Donald Trump Hugs Flag

Six weeks after Election Day and it’s still hard to comprehend how even a razor-thin slice of American voters could have chosen to allow Trump to reoccupy the White House. Those who voted for Trump managed to set aside that he is a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who tried to overthrow the government. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The list of Trump’s malfeasance and immorality is long and loathsome.

There are now reports that some Democratic members of Congress are planning to boycott Trump’s inauguration. It is totally understandable why they would consider passing up what, under normal circumstances, would be a celebration of democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. But there will be nothing to celebrate next month when an unambiguously anti-American huckster assumes the leadership of the country. As Axios reports…

“More than a dozen congressional Democrats plan to sit out President-elect Trump’s inauguration, and many more are anxiously grappling with whether to attend, Axios has learned. […] For many Democrats, the scars of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol remain fresh in the mind, marking Trump as a threat to democracy.”

However, as justifiable as it would be to snub Trump’s swearing in, there is another option that might make more sense. Turn it in to a “swearing at.” Democrats, and other patriots, could attend the inauguration and transform it into a protest. They could carry signs reminding the American people that Trump is an ethical nightmare and a criminal. They can even cause a peaceful disruption when he attempts to lie about preserving and protecting the Constitution.

What’s more, they could follow up the inaugural ceremony by remaining at the Capital after Trump leaves to pay tribute to the law enforcement officers who were injured or died as a result of the January 6th insurrection that Trump incited. And they could even incorporate a memorial to Martin Luther King Jr., whose holiday just happens to coincide with Inauguration Day.

We need to find creative ways to respond to the horror of having to endure another four years of Trumpism. We need to find reasons to be positive and productive as we resist his aspirations for a dystopian dictatorship. And that can all begin on day one of Trump 2.0, right on the Capital steps. Trump’s inauguration would be a great place to demonstrate to the nation and the world that he’s a loathsome cretin who most Americans despise. LFG!

WTHolyF? Trump Says Democrats Want to Ditch the Popular Vote in Favor of the Electoral College

Just when you thought that Donald Trump had reached the outer limits of logic and reason, he manages to astound everyone by sinking even lower on the sanity spectrum. Which proves that, with respect to Trump’s tenuous grasp of reality, or at least his perception of what nonsense his cult followers will tolerate, there really is no bottom.

In another laughably loony late night post to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump sought to make what he surely considered to be an insightful criticism of the state of politics in America. He absurdly asserted that…

“The Democrats are fighting hard to get rid of the Popular Vote in future Elections. They want all future Presidential Elections to be based exclusively on the Electoral College!”

REALLY? This would be a brilliant observation, if it weren’t for the pesky little fact that it is diametrically opposed to what Democrats actually want. Progressives have long criticized the Electoral College for its inherent bias toward small, red states that lean Republican. And it was Trump’s mangling of the Constitution’s references to it that were the basis of his ludicrous claim that he had won the election in 2020, and his inciting of the January 6th insurrection.

It’s hard to imagine what might have triggered this outburst. Generally when Trump makes a comment like this it is provoked by something he saw someone say on television. But this is so far removed from anything that makes sense, the source of his angst is a mystery.

Even worse, Trump is displaying his infamous ignorance of American laws and principles. He is complaining, incorrectly, that Democrats “want all future Presidential Elections to be based exclusively on the Electoral College!” However, all presidential elections are already based exclusively on the Electoral College, and they always have been. And he should know. It’s how came to occupy the White House in 2016. And it’s how he tried to overturn the election in 2020 by deploying an army of fake electors.

If Trump needs any further evidence that Democrats oppose the Electoral College and favor the popular vote, he need look no further than the progressive movement to effectively nullify the Electoral College by a group called “The National Popular Vote” whose website states that…

“The National Popular Vote law will take effect when enacted by states with a majority of the electoral votes (270 of 538). Then, the presidential candidate receiving the most popular votes in all 50 states and DC will get all the electoral votes from all of the enacting states. That is, the candidate receiving the most popular votes nationwide will be guaranteed enough electoral votes to become President.” […]

“The National Popular Vote Compact has been enacted into law by 17 states and the District of Columbia…These jurisdictions have 209 of the 270 electoral votes needed to activate the law.”

This movement is not some fringe faction of extremists. According to a recent survey by PEW Research, abolishing the Electoral College and electing presidents by popular vote is quite…well, popular…

“More than six-in-ten Americans (63%) would instead prefer to see the winner of the presidential election be the person who wins the most votes nationally. Roughly a third (35%) favor retaining the Electoral College system, according to a Pew Research Center survey”

What’s more, Trump is not only flagrantly wrong (as usual) about what Democrats want. That broad majority of 63% of Americans who prefer relying on the popular vote includes nearly half (46%) of Republicans. And according to the National Popular Vote group, they are tantalizingly close to achieving their goal. They report that in addition to the 17 states that have already passed their bill, “The bill has also passed one legislative chamber in 7 states with 74 electoral votes (AR, AZ, MI, NC, NV, OK, VA).”

That would be enough to align the Electoral College with the popular vote, and to end the bizarre and outdated dependence on the undemocratic Electoral College. With some some hard work and good luck, that could happen before the next presidential election. Then Trump would have to manufacture something entirely new to whine about. Which, unfortunately, is one of his few demonstrated skills.

MAKE IT STOP! Crybaby Trump Continues His Infantile Whining Weeks After Winning the Election

There is just no satisfying a malignant narcissist with delusions of grandeur and aspirations of authoritarian dictatorship. And Donald Trump is a textbook example of someone suffering from this acute psychosis that produces a relentless stream of anxiety and unrestrained animosity.

Emotionally stable persons are generally pacified when they achieve some long sought after goal. But Trump is congenitally incapable of pacification. He relentlessly regards himself as a victim no matter what the circumstances at any given moment in time. In fact, he’s actually proud of his ceaseless proclivity for whining, bragging that “I am the most fabulous whiner. I do whine, because I want to win. I am a whiner and I keep whining and whining until I win.”

So even three weeks after election day, Trump is still complaining that he is a victim of nefarious entities determined to destroy him. On his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump posted a message griping about some unexplained offense by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. He began by asking…

“Will the failing New York Times apologize to its readers for getting years of ‘Trump’ coverage so wrong. They write such phony ‘junk,’ knowing full well how incorrect it is, only meaning to demean.”

Trump doesn’t bother to cite any particular story that he asserts was “wrong,” or “phony,” or “junk,” or intended to “demean.” But he does resort to disgorging his standard issue insults and misogyny, referring to Haberman as “Magot Hagerman,” a slur that most seven year olds have outgrown.

Trump goes on to malign Haberman as “a third rate writer and fourth rate intellect [who he] almost never speak[s] to.” Never mind that he has spent many hours with her over the years, and proudly posed with her for photos in the Oval Office (see above). She also published a book – “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America” – based on her lengthy interviews of him. Despite these easily verifiable facts, Trump continued with a baseless charge against the New York Times, alleging falsely that…

“They do no fact checking, because facts don’t matter to them. I don’t believe I’ve had a legitimately good story in the NYT for years, AND YET I WON, IN RECORD FASHION, THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN DECADES. WHERE IS THE APOLOGY?”

For the record, Trump’s “RECORD FASHION” of winning was actually one of the narrowest margins of victory in modern times. He led Kamala Harris by less than 2%, and didn’t even muster a majority of the popular vote, for the third election in a row. But he still has the gall to ask for an apology? WTF for? Telling too much of the truth about him?

As usual, Trump’s temper tantrum was likely triggered by something that he came across in the press. Since he doesn’t mention what it was, we have to make an educated guess. In the hours before his hissy fit, the Times had published two stories by Haberman. One was about his long time aide, Boris Epshteyn, who is alleged to have sought payment from people seeking jobs in Trump’s administration. Proving that everyone in the Trump orbit is corrupt.

The other article was about Natalie Harp, a starstruck Trump flunky and former OAN cable “news” host who was known for writing “devotional letters,” to Trump, including one that said, “You are all that matters to me.” Her ultra-sycophantic presence in the Trump camp “has generated concern among other aides who feel she has been far too willing to serve as a funnel for conspiratorial information.” No wonder Trump loves her.

One other possible provocation for Trump’s outburst was a segment Monday night on CNN where Haberman talked about what Trump might do to retaliate against special counsel Jack Smith and other prosecutors in the Justice Department who indicted him for inciting the January 6th insurrection, and for stealing and hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel and lying to the FBI about it.

Whatever the cause, it is clear that Trump is not mentally stable enough to perform the duties of the presidency. Not that he ever was. But now he is wracked with a frenzied hostility aimed at his perceived enemies without any rational basis. And as bad as this is now, it is only going to get worse over time. Hopefully Democrats in Congress will will provide some protection from the harm he is preparing to unleash. The MAGA GOP – and his family – obviously don’t care that he is a danger to himself and the nation.

Dictator on Day One! Trump Nixes FBI Background Checks for his Unqualified, Anti-American Cabinet

In the heat of the 2024 presidential election season, Donald Trump sat for one of his many tongue bathing “interviews” with Sean Hannity on Fox News. On one particular occasion, Hannity sought to handhold Trump through a controversy wherein he had been accused of aspiring to be a dictator. But true to form, Trump was oblivious to the answers that Hannity tried to pass to him in his questions.

Despite Hannity’s repeated attempts, Trump insisted on expressing his abhorrent authoritarian aspirations. He stubbornly affirmed his deep desire to be a “dictator on day one.” And the limitation of his tyrannical reign to a single day provides little comfort to those who know that dictators never relinquish power voluntarily once they assume it.

Validating Trump’s totalitarian tendencies, it is now being reported that he intends to bypass the routine FBI background checks that are conducted on prospective presidential Cabinet candidates. According to CNN…

“President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team is?bypassing traditional FBI background checks for at least some of his Cabinet picks while using private companies to conduct vetting of potential candidates for administration jobs, people close to the transition planning say.

“Trump and his allies believe the FBI system is slow and plagued with issues that could stymie the president-elect’s plan to quickly begin the work of implementing his agenda, people briefed on the plans said. Critics say the intrusive background checks sometimes turn up embarrassing information used to inflict political damage.

“The discussions come as Trump has floated several controversial choices for high-level positions in the US government – including Matt Gaetz for attorney general and Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence.”

There are reasons that the FBI has been tasked with these background checks for decades. The positions that Cabinet heads hold grant them access to sensitive national security information. If they are compromised in any way it could make them vessels for foreign agents to acquire classified data, or even make them vulnerable to blackmail attempts. And that’s presuming that they aren’t purposefully acting on behalf of enemy regimes.

So why would Trump want to forego background checks on his nominees? Does he know something about them that we don’t? Are his own motives suspect? Even if they are not themselves foreign assets, do they have connections that would be concerning? Could they be unwitting dupes?

These are all questions that take on extraordinary significance when Trump himself has been so chummy with foreign despots like Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Viktor Orbán, and Kim Jong Un. Will those questions be asked? Will Trump be able to delay the process until he is able to install his own nominee for FBI director (possibly Trump flunky, Kash Patel)?

Many of Trump’s nominees to date have glaring issues that would raise red flags in any probe for security clearances. His attorney general nominee, Matt Gaetz, has been credibly accused of sex trafficking of a minor and illicit drug use. His Health and Human Services nominee, Robert Kennedy Jr, is a serial adulterer with a dead worm in his brain who holds crackpot conspiracy theories regarding medicine and vaccines. His nominee for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, has advocated bombing Iran and North Korea and argued in support of war criminals. His nominee for director of national security, Tulsi Gabbard, has ties with Putin and Russia.

What they all have in common is a worshipful cult attachment, and unwavering loyalty, to Trump, and no experience whatsoever in the jobs that he is proposing they fill. If it were Trump’s mission to undermine the stability of the United States, he couldn’t have picked a better team. So naturally, he wouldn’t want any of his co-conspirators to be subject to scrutiny.

Trump has been angling to give his nominees “recess appointments” so that they can bypass the Senate hearings as well. Hopefully Republicans in the Senate will grow a spine and insist that these nominees be required to submit to both background checks and Senate hearings. But resting our hopes on the strength of GOP spines is not exactly reassuring.

This leaves any hopes of preserving our democracy to Democrats, who are in the minority in both houses of Congress, and the media, who have been grossly deficient in their duty to inform. Which means that the only remaining path to salvation rests with the people. Are we up to it? We better be!

Trump’s Election Triggers Big Selloff of His Truth Social Stock – By Company Executives

Among the egomaniacal delusions of Donald Trump is his insistence that whatever he touches turns to gold, and that positive news about anything is only due to his divine intervention. Conversely, he wants people to believe that any catastrophe (Ukraine, Gaza, Hurricanes) would never have happened if he were in charge. It’s a symptom of the malignant narcissism that he has been suffering from for decades.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump countered the fact that the stock market was booming by claiming that it was only because investors were anticipating his return to the White House. Never mind that the market hit record highs throughout the four years of President Biden’s administration. Also, unemployment hit record lows, the GDP soared, inflation was cut in half, and numerous other indicators showed gains that Trump could not have had any effect on. He was even called out about this by his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News…

However, it would be difficult now for Trump to explain how the perception of his magnificence is turning the putrid pile of manure known as Truth Social into a bouquet of fragrant roses. Since election day on November 5, the stock of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the corporate parent of Truth Social, has declined about 40%, from an intraday high of $45.00 to it’s current value of about $27.00.

So does Trump now believe that, since the world revolves around him, his election is responsible for the selloff and investors nervousness about its continued viability? Not likely. He is protected by a perverse psychological defense mechanism that is triggered whenever he is exposed to bad news about himself. This makes him immune from harm because all he can perceive is his own greatness.

However, others with actual money on the line obviously feel differently. And those others happen to be principle executives of TMTG who are cashing out before the stock descends to its actual value of next to nothing. CNBC is reporting that…

“The chief financial officer of Trump Media and two other corporate insiders sold more than $16 million worth of company stock in the week following the presidential election, according to new disclosures.

“Most of the stock was sold by CFO Phillip Juhan, who in August adopted a trading plan that revealed his intention to sell 400,000 DJT shares by December 2025.

“Trump Media director Eric Swider and Scott Glabe, the company’s general counsel, each sold fewer shares of the company, whose majority owner Donald Trump was elected president on Nov. 5. […]

“Juhan, who is also Trump Media’s treasurer, sold 320,000 shares on Friday at a price of $30.65 per share, or a total of $9.8 million worth of stock according to a Form 4 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

“On Monday, Juhan sold another 64,000 shares at $32.97 per share, another $2.11 million worth, the same filing said.”

The CNBC report also noted that TMTG “report[ed] revenue of slightly more than just $1 million in the third quarter of this year,” with “losses of $19.2 million for the quarter.” So the rush to bail out is a smart move by the company’s insiders and other investors. Trump himself, however, insists that he is not selling. We’ll see.

The report found that “people with knowledge of the company” have confirmed that several top executives of the company appear to have been ousted following an internal investigation by a lawyer that the company hired to examine allegations of “mismanagement” and “misuse” of funds by it’s CEO, and Trump flunky, Devin Nunes.

LOSER Trump’s Truth Social is Well on its Way to Becoming His Next Bankruptcy
TMTG reported its earning for the second quarter of 2024. And it was not a pretty sight. As reported by Investor’s Business Daily, “Trump Media reported net sales of $836,000, down 30% vs. a year earlier. Operating costs soared to $19.5 million vs. $4.9 million a year earlier.”

Trump’s Truth Social is Shedding Users Like a Miserable Childless Woman’s Mangy Cat
The Donald Trump-controlled Truth Social platform recorded its third straight month of declining traffic. Truth Social attracted 2,112,000 unique visitors, down 38% compared to June 2023 when the site generated 3,407,000 unique visitors. It was the platform’s second worst traffic performance since June 2022 when Truth Social had only 1,891,000 unique visitors.

Trump’s associates in his truthless, anti-social media venture were arrested and charged with insider trading. Reports indicate that “the three individuals together made more than $22 million in illegal profits.”

Among the common characteristics of the first batch of Trump nominees are their unflinching loyalty to Trump, their commitment to bending to whatever is the MAGA agenda of the hour, their uniform whiteness, and their extremist views that align with his utter lack of ethical principles.

This is not unlike Trump’s first occupation of the White House. During that time he also relied on poaching people from Fox News to staff his administration. They included his National Security advisor John Bolton, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert, Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow, and many more.

No one should be surprised by these ties. Despite how often Trump complains about Fox News, they are still his best source of positive propaganda. For instance, just this Tuesday morning the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends discussed the differences between how Democrats were handling their losses this year, and how Republicans handled them in 2020…

Steve Doocy: Here’s the thing. Those people are all entitled to their opinion and they can feel how they feel. But, he is going to be president for four years. He won a four-year term. Just deal with it.
Lawrence Jones: I don’t remember Republicans acting out like this, cutting their hair and all of this after Donald Trump lost in 2020. You’re sad, you’re demoralized, but you move on.

Exactly! Republicans didn’t do anything crazy on January 6, 2021, like cut their hair. They just calmly stormed Congress, beat police officers, threatened representatives and their staff and VP Mike Pence, and vandalized the seat of American democracy. All in an attempt to overthrow a free and fair election. You know…they “dealt with it.” And Trump hasn’t stopped whining about it for four years.

The only “moving on” that is being done now is Trump’s Fox News mouthpieces into his administration. What’s. next? Jeanine Pirro for Attorney General? Maria Bartiromo for Treasury Secretary? The Presidential Transition Act was established to effect an orderly transition between succeeding terms of presidents. Among its features is a code of ethics that the president-elect is required to agree to before being permitted access to classified materials and briefings.

No one should be surprised that Donald Trump has, so far, refused to sign the ethics agreement. Which is entirely in character for Trump whose record in business, politics, and even his personal life, is rife with deliberate and nefarious ethical failings. He is a walking monument to corruption, deceit, and immorality. Especially troubling are his legal lapses in ethics that have resulted in dozens of felony charges and convictions.

According to reports, one of the factors holding up Trump’s signature is that the agreement would require him to abstain from any conflicts of interest. That would be a nearly impossible burden for Trump to uphold, considering his broad array of businesses that he has already exploited unethically in his previous occupation of the White House. Now CNN is reporting that…

“President-elect Donald Trump has not yet submitted a series of transition agreements with the Biden administration, in part because of concerns over the mandatory ethics pledge [which is required by law under the Presidential Transition Act] vowing to avoid conflicts of interest once sworn in to office, CNN has learned.

As president, Trump repeatedly came under fire from ethics groups for potential conflicts of interest relating to his businesses and brands.” […]

“Trump’s most recent financial disclosures as a candidate showed that he has continued to make millions off his properties, books and licensing deals. He and his family recently launched a new cryptocurrency business. […] A sizable share of his net worth, meanwhile, is tied to the publicly traded parent company of Truth Social, the conservative social media network. Trump is the dominant shareholder.”

Every president other Trump has complied with the ethic laws for the office by either relinquishing the potentially conflicting enterprises, or putting them in a blind trust. Trump did neither of those. And it appears that he isn’t interested in doing any of that in his upcoming term either.

By refusing to sign the ethics agreement, Trump is virtually promising to violate it. Why else would he hesitate? And those violations could include activities that are far more serious than improperly enriching himself financially. He could reveal sensitive intelligence information to his pals Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. He could abuse his authority in order to intimidate or control both domestic and foreign politicians. He could funnel funds to himself or to others with whom he has shady deals.

Trump is also preparing to evade any accountability for crimes he may commit while in office. He is stacking his Cabinet with unwavering loyalists who will support whatever crimes he commits. And to insure that he gets his way, he is also plotting to evade constitutional checks and balances in order to install his team of sycophants without Senate oversight or confirmation.

Speculation of Trump appointments of cultists such as Kash Patel to head the CIA, or Mike Davis as Attorney General, would essentially serve as guardians of Trump’s mob operation to shield the boss from accountability. And he needs all the help he can get considering the length of his rap sheet.

UPDATE: Trump finally signed a transition agreement, however, he did so only after altering it so that he “is still refusing to accept several typical trappings of the presidential transition process, including federal funding, equipment and office space — as well as official government background and security checks for his transition staff. The agreement does not include an ethics pledge for the president-elect, required by the Presidential Transition Act.”

MAGA GOP Reps Deny that Donald ‘I Am Your Retribution’ Trump Has an ‘Enemies List’ (He Does)

But it didn’t take long for the Trump apologists in Congress to begin crafting their reality-defying accounts of his nefarious intentions to launch a reign of terror targeting Democrats, journalists, and anyone else who failed to kowtow to him and kiss his…let’s say ring.

The deliberate distortions of what Trump has actually said and done over the course of his campaign amount to a bald-faced effort to gaslight the gullible rubes who were naïve enough to vote for him.

It apparently wasn’t sufficient to tell flagrant lies exalting him while viciously maligning his opponent. They must now try to convince voters that what they clearly saw and heard were all figments of their feeble imaginations. This resulted in the election of a convicted felon, serial sexual abuser, and aspiring dictator, with a resume replete with ill repute.

So naturally Trump’s supplicants in Congress are endeavoring to whitewash his wayward past by blatantly contradicting what everyone witnessed in recent history. For example, on Sunday morning Rep. Jim Jordan insisted that Trump will not go after his political opponents. “‘He didn’t do it in his first term,’ Jordan told CNN ‘State of the Union’ host Dana Bash on Sunday.”

Of course Jordan is adamant that Trump wouldn’t go after his political opponents. Because that’s Jordan’s job. As chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan has conducted numerous, meritless probes of Democrats and other Trump critics, including President Biden and his family. What’s more, Jordan is lying about Trump not going after political opponents in his first term. He did so repeatedly. But he wasn’t able to get anywhere because he had no hint of evidence of any wrongdoing. Even his own staff couldn’t justify the sham persecutions. As for Trump, his enemies list was well documented – mostly in his own words – and quite long. Politico published a collection of some of the targets of Trump’s wrath, including “critics and members of the media to be prosecuted, locked up, deported and even executed…”

Jordan was not alone in his fictionalization of Trump’s yearning for revenge. Byron Donalds (FL-MAGA) also tried to disseminate the lie that Trump was not out for vengeance, telling Fox News that “For the American people who have been listening to these lies from the Democratic left, I will tell you…There’s no enemies list.”

What’s next? Trump and his MAGA cult will try to claim that he never questioned the outcome of the 2020 election; or that he never incited a violent insurrection; or that he never downplayed the deadly effects of COVID; or that he never praised authoritarian tyrants like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un (and Hitler); or that he never sought mass deportations of migrants; or that he never promised to impose inflationary tariffs on all imported goods; or that he never said women must be punished for seeking abortions.

This sort of truth mangling is what Americans can look forward to for the next four years. And all because some voters were more worried about paying more for eggs, than about destroying democracy. And, of course, because the media was too afraid and/or complicit to report accurately about the existential risks the nation faced by returning Trump to the White House.

Unfortunately, we will all share in the regrets – and suffering – that was caused by a small minority of ill-informed, selfish, and gullible cultists who embraced Trump’s transparent dishonesty and egomaniacal ambitions.
