Trump Joins the Fox News ‘Curvy Couch’ Potatoes to Complain About Fox News

As the 2024 presidential race winds down to its final three weeks, Kamala Harris is blanketing the nation – and particularly the critical swing states – to shore up support and persuade undecided voters that she is the only alternative if we are to preserve American democracy and the principles of the Constitution that we revere.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, is cowering in the safety of his MAGA media bubble, refusing to expose himself to any real questions, and even canceling events at friendly venues, including one with the NRA. It’s hard to determine if this behavior is due to his cowardice or his laziness or, most likely, both.

On Friday morning Trump made another visit to a group of the most devoted Trump-fluffers on Fox News, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends. It’s a program that is a favorite of his for phone-in interviews in his jammies, where he knows that he won’t be challenged by any substantive questions or embarrassed by any fact checks. So it’s just the sort of safe space he’s limiting himself to as Election Day drays nearer.

On this occasion Trump was greeted with the customary welcome from hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley, Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade. Whereupon he launched into a sob session sparked by what he regards as treason by the his Ministry of Propaganda. Trump whined that…

“In the old days, you never played negative ads. In other words, when I leave here, I’ll then be hit by five or six ads…When I leave, I’ll have 12 people from Kamala on, and pretty much unopposed. For 19 days I don’t think we should do that anymore. I think you shouldn’t play negative ads. It’s very tough. You do a show – and I complain all the time. I love complaining. I like to have everything perfect. But when I leave here 200 people from…by the time you do it you say ‘What are you doing?’ It’s sort of a net neutral”

That’s right. Trump is big mad that Fox News dares to interview people who are not bona fide disciples of the Trump cult. In his warped mind, Fox is obligated to book only guests who will exalt Dear Leader without exception. And that’s not all. Trump is also upset that Fox News will sell advertising time to Democrats who might have cause to criticize him.

Trump is, in effect, revealing that his idea of what Fox News is there for is to advance his interests at all times. He may have gotten that impression because that’s precisely what they have been doing for years. However, should they waver in that mission now, they become just another enemy and a propagator of “fake news.” And this isn’t the first time that Trump has made these feelings known…

However, there is no need for the MAGA-nuts to worry. Trump is taking matters into his own hands to correct this wayward shifting of sentiments. As the segment was wrapping up, Trump told his F&F pals that…

“I’m going to see Rupert Murdoch. That’s a big event. I don’t know if he’s thrilled that I say it. And I’m going to tell him, I’m going to tell him something very simple – because I can’t talk to anybody else about it – ‘Don’t put on negative commercials for 21 days, don’t put them — and don’t put on the air their horrible people.’ They come and lie. I’m going to say, ‘Rupert, please do it this way,'”

Murdoch may or may not be amenable to Trump’s request. On one hand, he’ll want to please Trump, who he is ideologically aligned with, and who is the object of blind adoration by most the network’s viewers. On the hand hand, Murdoch won’t want to turn away ad dollars that offered to him, or lose access to Democratic power brokers in Washington. What’s more, he may be a little perturbed with Trump for bashing his network and it’s executives.

It is unlikely that Fox News will do anything to anger Trump. They rely on his cult followers for ratings, which translate into ad revenue. But it’s notable that Trump is so comfortable going on a Fox program and griping about how they aren’t being subservient enough to him. And of course, none of the Couch potatoes had any objection to his him kvetching in their faces. They know their place.

Trump Slams Fox News Shortly After Gushing Over Bret Baier’s Hostile Interview of Kamala Harris

He has been credibly diagnosed as a narcissist, a sociopath, as emotionally stunted, and a pathological liar, to name just a few. Now we can add Cognitive Dissonance Disorder, a condition wherein the subject holds two or more conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. The symptoms of this malady exhibited by Trump were evident in his recent comments on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. He was reacting to the programs he was watching on Fox News, the network that he alternatively regards as his Ministry of Propaganda, or just another “fake news” enterprise that is determined to destroy him. Late Wednesday night Trump posted a comment that lauded the network and its allegedly “hard news” anchor, Bret Baier, for the hit job he did on Kamala Harris (full interview here). Trump was effusive in his praise saying…

“Great job by Bret Baier in his Interview with Lyin’ Kamala Harris. She has a massive and irredeemable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. […] For the good of our Nation, her inferior Cognitive ability must be tested at once!”

It’s no wonder that Trump loved the interview where Baier spent most of his time badgering and interrupting Harris. She could barely get a complete sentence out before Baier would jump in to prevent her from getting her point across. For example…

That went on for twenty minutes. And throughout, Harris kept her composure and still managed to express herself effectively. Not that that matters so much to the Fox News audience that is primed to attack whatever she says, no matter how reasonable and compelling. And in this case, she had to do it while dodging the obstacles that Baier kept throwing in her path.

Trump also lashed out at Harris for having what he called “inferior Cognitive ability.” Which is just another of Trump’s psychotic afflictions, known as “projection.” While Harris has never shown any hint of cognitive decline, Trump can barely complete a thought without diverging into bizarre absurdities that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. His demand that she take a cognitive test is hysterical. Although, she might want to agree to it if he will. Which he won’t.

A few hours after posting the comment swooning over Baier’s interview, Trump posted another comment that had an entirely different tone. This time he blasted the network’s CEO, Suzanne Scott, asking…

“Why does Suzanne Scott of FoxNews keep putting on third rate ‘talking heads’ like Jessica Tarlov, Richard Fowler, Patrick Murphy, ‘something’ Wolf, Keisha Lance Bottoms, and other Radical Left Lunatics that lie, and make up statements.” […]

“[N]ot a moment goes by when I’m not looking at negative, false Ads that the other camp stuffs the Fox airwaves with. If I win…it is DESPITE Fox, not because of them!”

Once again, Trump is acting out his psychoses by accusing every Fox News commentator that isn’t an indoctrinated member of his cult, of being a “Radical Left Lunatic” who lies. He has stated repeatedly that Fox should never allow anyone on their air who isn’t a devoted MAGA disciple. that includes pundits on the Fox payroll, as well as politicos invited on as guests.

So in the course of less than half a day, Trump expressed both his love and hatred for Fox News. Which raises a couple of pertinent questions. First, What the f**k is wrong with him? Trump is utterly incapable of maintaining a consistent, coherent thought. And second, what the f**k is wrong with Fox News? Why would they allow Trump to castigate their network so bitterly and still remain so faithful to him?

It’s the same sort of fear-based response that members of the Republican Party have. The GOP and Fox News are both terrified of alienating Trump and his glassy-eyed cult followers. And Trump is afraid that people will see through his cheesy facade and discover that he’s fraud and a coward. But all of them are going to find out that their charades cannot be sustained for long.

Fox News already found out, or should have, when they settled a defamation lawsuit for 3/4 of a billion dollars. And Trump’s time of reckoning may be come as soon as November 5th, if the American people turn out to vote.

Fox News Hosts a MAGA-Only ‘Town Hall’ that is Actually a Lie-Riddled Trump Campaign Infomercial

With only three weeks left until Election Day, Donald Trump is continuing his tour of ultra-friendly media venues where he knows he will be shielded from any difficult questions by the slobbering sycophants who preside over the brazenly partisan love fests. By contrast, Kamala Harris is fanning out across the nation, doing interviews with a wide variety of politically diverse hosts and audiences.

However, somehow, even with the benefit of appearing only before adoring cult followers, Trump still manages to humiliate himself by failing to provide coherent responses to comically Nerfball questions. Even worse, he keeps delivering profoundly disturbing messages that affirm his aspirations to become America’s first openly fascist dictator who hates this country and its people.

On Wednesday morning Trump appeared on what was billed as a Fox News “town hall” that would feature an all woman studio audience and address women’s issues. It was hosted by the network’s notorious Trump-fluffer, Harris Faulkner. But as might be expected, it was actually an hour long Trump campaign infomercial that he got for free, courtesy of his Ministry or Propaganda, where he knew that there wouldn’t be any inquiries that might rattle or confuse him. And yet, they still did.

Since Trump is a feeble and cowardly narcissist who thrives on constant, unflinching adulation, the producers at Fox News made sure that there would be only Trump supporters in the audience. Which made it possible for him to dodge, deflect, lie, and weave, in order to avoid being responsive, or even rational. There has already been a fact check of his infomercial that found at least 19 flagrant falsehoods.

Trump’s derangement was nowhere as evident as in his reply to a question about previous remarks he made where he called Americans who disagreed with him “the enemy within” who were “more dangerous than China and Russia.” He went farther to say that these “radical left lunatics should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.” So he is proposing to use the military against his political foes. In the town hall/infomercial, Trump doubled down saying that…

“It is the enemy from within. And they are very dangerous. They’re Marxists and communists and fascists, and they’re sick. I use a guy like Adam Schiff. They made up the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. It took two years to solve the problem. Absolutely nothing was done wrong. They are dangerous for our country. We have China, we have Russia, all these countries. If you have a smart president, they can be handled. The more difficult are the Pelosis. These people they are so sick and they are so evil…They were saying I was like threatening. I am not threatening anybody. They are the ones doing the threatening…They’re the threat to democracy.”

No one should be fooled into believing that Trump has the slightest idea what the words Marxist, communist, or fascist mean. He just uses these terms the way a seven year old would use “poopyhead.” But more to the point, Trump is lashing out at Democrats like Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi because they revealed his traitorous misconduct that got him impeached twice. He is making it clear that the people he thinks should be “handled” by the military include congressional representatives elected by the voters.

Trump apparently doesn’t see how that kind of hostile rhetoric is threatening. And he has been even more direct in his threats against fellow citizens and the press. He has called Americans who dare to defy him “vermin.” And he calls the press “the enemy of the people.” So make no mistake, if Trump gets his way he will seek to punish those he regards as insufficiently worshipful and, if he deems it “necessary,” he will order the military to round them all up and in some manner dispose of them. And “them” means YOU!

The blatant dishonesty of Fox News was exposed when they agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for 3/4 of a billion dollars. That settlement came after Dominion obtained hundreds of communications from Fox News executives and hosts revealing their deliberate lies and hypocrisies. But even that didn’t stop them…

The latest journey into journalistic disgrace for Fox manages to exceed its prior milestones of mis- and disinformation. Featured in this episode is Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, in her continuing role as a purveyor of pure propaganda. In a segment discussing the prospect of election fraud that Fox and Trump have been imagining is rampant, Bartiromo asks the national Republican Party co-chair, Michael Whatley, a question based on the “reporting” of a bona fide Internet nutjob…

Bartiromo: We want to get your take on whether or not you’ve got confidence there in Arizona because apparently The Gateway Pundit reported that the GOP chairwoman provided an update to allegations that there’s not going to be a fair election there.
Whatley: Well, there is going to be a fair election and we’re working very, very hard with the Arizona GOP. I actually had dinner with the chairwoman last night.

That’s right. Bartiromo has embraced Jim Hoft (aka Gateway Pundit), one of the most universally disreputable conspiracy peddlers on the Internet, as a source for her alleged “news” program. And the information that she draws from Hoft is a quote that he attributes to the chair of the Arizona GOP asserting that the election is already invalidated due to fraud, a month before it has taken place.

With Bartiromo’s adoption of Hoft as a source, Fox News has fully transformed into the status of an Internet Troll Network. They don’t employ any credible journalists, so their dependency on hacks like Hoft was inevitable. But to be fair, he really is no worse than Fox regulars Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, and the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends.

However, we can set aside Bartiromo’s guest, Whatley, disputing the charges by Hoft, and assuring Bartiromo that the election is going to be fair. Because it would be foolish to expect that view to stick. If Trump loses in November, the entirety of the GOP outrage machine, including Whatley, Trump, and everyone on Fox News, will be shouting from the rafters that the election was “rigged and stolen.” Just as they are still doing with regard to the 2020 election. In fact, Trump is already doing it. And even he isn’t satisfied with Fox…

Consequently, it’s somewhat astonishing that Trump is so frequently upset with Fox News, the network that has made it their mission to advance the interests of Trump and his MAGA GOP movement. They have been so pernicious in their pursuit of pro-Trump propaganda that it cost them 3/4 of a billion dollars to back up his flagrant lies and political scams. Which they are still doing…

On Tuesday morning Trump headlined another one of his traveling salvation shows to shore up the devotion of his cult disciples. And in the process he delivered a punch to Fox News for failing in their duty to be 100% faithful to Dear Leader. Trump whined…

“You ever notice on Fox…They put me on, I do a great job. And then they follow me with a horrible commercial. I say what the hell is the good of me doing it if you’re…Roger Ailes never allowed bad commercials. What’s the purpose of me doing a nice show and then they put nine horrible commercials on, which are all lies.

“But when they put somebody on that’s good and then they always feel like they have to put somebody on who’s bad. So the net result is neutral. And you say ‘What are you doing it for? You can’t do that.’ Fox should put just the good people on. The people that want to make America great again. They shouldn’t put the guys that are professional scammers on.”

So Trump believes that a for-profit cable television network should refuse paid advertising if it isn’t unconditionally complementary to Trump. They should reject all ads by his political opponents. And if they don’t, there is no purpose in him gracing the network with his presence. Would he also support MSNBC refusing his ads?

But Trump goes even farther than that. He also believes that Fox News must not invite guest commentators, or interview politicians, who do not represent his point of view. They “should put just the good people on.” By which he means those who are unwaveringly loyal to him. He is arguing that Fox should maintain a radically partisan editorial policy. Which, despite Trump’s complaints, they pretty much already do.

It is interesting that Trump name-checks former Fox News CEO, Roger Ailes, as an exemplar of the reverential toadies that meet with his approval. Ailes was fired by Fox News for repeated sexual harassment. So Trump likely feels a sense of camaraderie with Ailes in that respect, along with his extreme far-right views.

However, Trump made an inadvertent slip with his demand that “They shouldn’t put the guys that are professional scammers on.” If Fox News complied with that, then Trump himself would be barred from appearances on the network. His entire public persona is a scam. He practices it with both his political ploys and his financial frauds.

Trump’s banishment from the airwaves, and politics, would be the single most effective anti-scam initiative in modern history at – in Trump lingo – a level that was never seen before. But not to worry, MAGA-nauts. Fox News will never willingly abandon their fuehrer. They have too much invested already.

On Monday morning the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends launched another of their patented disinformation campaigns that are specifically designed to appeal the gullible rubes that comprise the vast majority of their audience. The segment addressed reports that Jill Biden had attended a White House Cabinet meeting.

Unveiling what the hosts – Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones – apparently believe is a bombshell revelation about President Biden and his administration, they engaged in the following exchange…

Doocy: Regarding Jill Biden, maybe she’s saying that because she’s running the country.
Earhardt: Yeah. She was at the cabinet meeting on Friday. She was at the head of the table. Here’s a picture of her. And I was watching Fox and Friends Weekend and I turn on the TV and I see her at the end of the table and I’m, like, where is he [President Biden]? Why isn’t he at this meeting?
Jones: Miranda Devine [of Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post] writes ‘Who exactly is running the country.’ Certainly it appears to be Jill Biden and not Joe Biden.”

So Fox “News” is reporting that Biden did not attend his Cabinet meeting. And they forcefully demanded to know where he was and why he wasn’t there. But if they had bothered to watch the video that was playing while they were talking, they would have seen Biden right there at the table. Apparently that was too much to ask of these alleged journalists.

What’s more, Fox reported that the First Lady was seated at the head of the table, which they claimed was evidence that she was running, not merely the meeting, but the whole country. However, Biden’s usual place at such meetings is in the middle of the table, where he sat on this occasion as well. But Fox News was too busy digging for nonexistent dirt to pay any attention to measly things like facts. Even if they are only related to the national security implications of – seating arrangements?

What Fox neglected to report entirely was why the First Lady was there in the first place. It was because the President invited her “to give an update on the White House initiative to fundamentally change how we approach and fund women’s health services.” According to the White House transcript of the event…

“We’re grateful that Jill is here today. And here, across previous administrations, first ladies have attended these meetings and on — for specific reasons. It’s the first time Jill has joined us. And it goes to show how important the issue is, what she’s about to speak to, to both of us.”

Naturally, Fox News doesn’t want to inform their viewers that Biden and Harris are delivering tangible benefits for women. Particularly when MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump have such animosity toward them and openly hold them in contempt.

While the GOP is working to deprive women of critical healthcare, Democrats are making progress expanding those services. And the only thing that Fox News can do in response is to air asinine stories about seating arrangements and the President missing a meeting that he was actually at. And this is what they call “news.”

Wannabe Dictator Trump Threatens to Revoke ABC News Broadcast License in Fox News Interview

The fallout from the ABC News debate with Vice-President Kamala Harris and convicted felon Donald Trump continues to produce lesions in the body politic. Mostly in the form of whining by Trump, despite the fact that he insists that he won, which is contrary to post-debate polling.

In the two short weeks following the debate, the positive impact for Harris is inarguable. Her fundraising, which was already remarkable by recent standards, continues to set records. And polls have shown her surging into leads nationally and in the critical swing states, a development that has Trump sinking into severe psychosis…

For someone who wants the world to believe that he emerged from the face-off as the undisputed victor, Trump sure complains a lot. He has spent the past couple of weeks attacking the debate moderators as biased, and making ludicrous accusations that Harris was given the questions (and answers) beforehand and that she wore a communications device disguised as an earring. None of which contained even a speck of truth.

Building on those lies, Trump gave an interview to MAGA friendly Fox News flunky, Brian Kilmeade, wherein he elaborated on his psychobabble. But his remarks transcended his familiar mutterings of bias, devolving into open authoritarian threats…

Kilmeade: A Democratic pollster is calling for an investigation of ABC and the moderators. He wants communications pulled to see if they were talking to each other because of the fact-check on you and not on them, and the questions and topics. Do you join in those questions?
Trump: Sure, I do. I think they should be investigated. And you know, they have to get a license from the federal government.

First of all, the alleged Democratic pollster Kilmeade mentioned was the notoriously right-wing former Democrat, Mark Penn. And neither he, nor Trump, nor Fox News have any justification for, or authority to demand internal communications from ABC News.

More ominous, however, is Trump’s response wherein he makes an overt threat to revoke the broadcast license of ABC News. That’s the sort of totalitarian abuse of power that is practiced by Trump’s idols, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. And it’s how Trump promises govern if he were to return to power. It’s also consistent with his longstanding hatred of the free press that he refers to in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.”

Trump, and Fox News, assert that ABC demonstrated bias by daring to fact-check Trump during the debate, but not Harris. However, it isn’t her fault that Trump lied more than 30 times, while she stuck to truth. And if demonstrating bias was the crime that Trump and Fox is so concerned about, they might want to take a look in the mirror. Fox “News” has been nothing but a bald-faced, and shamelessly dishonest, right-wing propaganda outfit from its inception.

What’s more, Trump grossly exaggerated (as usual) the incidence of fact-checks, saying that he was checked “nine or 11 different times about things that I was right on virtually every case.” And while they could have legitimately fact-checked him 30 times, it was actually only four, for which he was clearly wrong. The moderators politely corrected Trump on the following subjects…

  • Abortion: “There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it’s born.”
  • Migrant Pet Cuisine: “[There were] no credible reports of pets or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals in the immigrant community.”
  • Crime: “As you know, the FBI says that overall violent crime is actually coming down in this country.”
  • The 2020 Election: “60 cases in front of many judges, many of them Republican, looked at it and said there was no widespread fraud.”

That was every fact-check of Trump that occurred during the debate. And everyone one of them was appropriate and fair and handled with dignity and an intent to inform voters. And despite his lie-riddled, angry, and often incoherent performance, Trump still says that…

“I thought it was a great debate for me. I thought it was one of my best debates that I’ve ever had. And some people disagree, but I thought it was the strongest debate I ever had.”

Well, if that was “the strongest debate [he] ever had,” then why is he so afraid to take the stage with Harris one more time before Election Day? Does he really want that embarrassing display to be the last thing that millions of Americans see before they vote? Or is he just too scared that he will get pummeled again if he agrees to another match?

Harris’ challenge to Trump to have another debate is brilliant. It’s a lose-lose scenario for Trump. If he agrees, he is likely to get another beatdown. If he declines, he’s affirming his fear. So the question for Trump is whether he is more worried about being seen as a loser or a chicken. Although it may be too late for him on both counts.

His criticisms of Vice-President Kamala Harris continue to devolve into increasingly impotent insults that reflect more negatively on him than on her. He is resorting to bizarre conspiracy theories about the size of Harris’ rally crowds, and even more bizarre allegations that she is spying on him.

On Friday morning Fox took another stab at maligning the Democratic presidential ticket. This time they aimed their animus at Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz. And what they found was a real bombshell that could explode with the force of a falling eyelash.

In a segment with Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, revealed the damning discovery that Gov. Walz has what Comer calls “a scary family” …

“Yeah, that’s a scary family there. It looks like the type of family that’s been indoctrinated. They believe that there’s a better way to do business. Some of the things the Walz’s have said about China, their affection for China, that’s very concerning to me. Because we don’t want to set our business model like China. I mean, China’s already got too big of a foothold here in the United States.”

OH MY! Have you seen Gov. Walz’s family? They are like creatures straight out of “Night of the Living Kindly Neighbors” They’re the type of people you would expect to terrorize children with treats and tenderness and trips to the pony rides. It’s too awful to contemplate!

You really have to wonder what family Comer was thinking of. Certainly Walz’s immediate family in his Minnesota home are close and loving and have none of the “scary” attributes that Comer is asserting. Or maybe Comer was referring to Walz’s distant, pro-Trump relatives in Nebraska. They do look a little like some frightening cult members.

Comer’s complaints about Walz having some sort of nefarious connection to China are laughable. Yes, he did teach English there for a year, shortly after he graduated college. And that experience with Chinese children may have left him with some affectionate memories. But that is hardly evidence of “indoctrination” or a plot to “set our business model like China.”

Undeterred by common sense, or reality, Comer is known for his wild goose chases. He presided over ludicrous congressional probes of President Biden and his son Hunter. [Apparently Comer has a thing about going after people’s family members.] After months of pointless hearings, and millions of wasted taxpayer dollars, he never produced a shred of evidence of any wrongdoing. He was such a huge failure that a Newsmax host said he “looked like a joke,” and even Fox News chastised him…

What makes this all the more preposterous is that it is Donald Trump who has bent the knee to China. He brags about his close relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He has numerous business dealings in China. And so do his kids, Ivanka, Eric, and Don Jr.

If anyone’s family should be subject to investigation, it’s Trump’s. But don’t hold your breath waiting for Comer to initiate one. That would require honesty, integrity, patriotism. Those are qualities that are anathema to Comer and the MAGA GOP.

Fox News is Making Excuses for Trump Losing the Debate with Kamala Harris Before it Even Begins

The first, and likely only, debate between Vice-President Kamala Harris and convicted felon Donald Trump will take place this evening. In the run up to this event the candidates have been preparing in starkly different ways that are characteristic of their divergent personalities.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump Debate

Harris, who is taking her participation in this ritual of democracy seriously, has been studying the issues and developing strategy. Trump, who regards himself as an infallible reservoir of the world’s knowledge, has been insulting Harris as “dumb” and whining about everything being rigged against him. So much so that he had fight to keep voters from hearing what he actually says.

Trump isn’t the only one who is afraid of how poorly he will perform, and how bad he will look in comparison to Harris. Fox News is also fearful that Trump will not measure up to Harris, who can actually articulate complex subjects that matter to the American people, and form coherent sentences. Trump, on the other hand, is demonstrating ever more severe lapses in mental acuity.

On Tuesday morning Fox News began their pre-cleaning operation to explain in advance why Trump will/has lost the debate hours before it began. The following exchange between Fox host Harris Faulkner and her MAGA guest Gianno Caldwell says a lot about how pessimistic the Fox team is…

Caldwell: I don’t believe that Kamala Harris is coming ready to play. She’s relying on the media to support her. And certainly with ABC giving 100% positive coverage for her, 98% negative for Donald Trump, We already know what the table looks like.
Faulkner: I think we learned too at that interview where he was with the Black journalists in Chicago and ABC News had the first question on that one didn’t even acknowledge that he had survived an assassination attempt not too long before. … We know a little bit of what we potentially could get.

Where Caldwell got the impression that Harris isn’t “coming ready to play” is a mystery. On other programs Fox has reported that she was holed up in a hotel room working on her debate prep. Which they put a negative spin on, suggesting that only idiots need to waste time preparing. So according to Fox, Harris is bad for preparing, and bad for not preparing.

What’s more, Caldwell and Faulkner both have no basis whatsoever for alleging any bias on the part of the debate host, ABC News. It is just their knee-jerk reaction to any media enterprise, which they regard as “the enemy of the people” because Trump told them so.

Faulkner then attacked ABC News because a reporter asked Trump a question at a conference of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) about the blatant racism that has been aimed at Harris. Apparently Faulkner thinks that asking Trump about a scratch on his ear is more relevant to the NABJ’s members than a question about systemic bigotry.

Both Faulkner and Caldwell are executing a plan that was surely devised in Fox’s morning editorial meeting. They are attempting to preemptively explain why Trump will fare so badly at the debate that will take place later that evening. They obviously know that Trump is an unstable person, with a tenuous grasp of issues – and reality – who can safely be predicted to humiliate himself. So they are making excuses for it to their flock of MAGA viewers ahead of his anticipated meltdown.

For his part, Trump was continuing his “preparation” for the debate by rage-posting on his failing social media scam, Truth Social. And even as Fox News was defending him, he was attacking Fox…

“Why does FoxNews keep putting on, for endless periods of time, Michael Tyler, Kamala’s publicist, who spews nothing but lies – like Project 2025, etc. Fox tries to be so politically correct, when the other side plays for keeps. RIDICULOUS!!!”

Trump is OUTRAGED that Fox News would interview Michael Tyler, the Director for Communications in the Harris Campaign. And it’s especially funny that a pathological liar like Trump can accuse anyone else of “spew[ing] nothing but lies.” Particularly when the examples that Trump gives are so plainly truthful comments about Trump’s Project 2025.

We can all expect Trump to deliver another of his patented debacles during this debate. And likewise, we can expect Fox News to try to clean up after him. Which is a job that isn’t getting any easier as Trump continues his downward spiral. And he’s going to drag a lot of others down with him before he’s done. For which we should probably thank him.

HOLY CR&P: Trump’s Rambling, Incoherent Plan to Make Child Care Affordable is Utterly Deranged

A few short weeks ago, the media was obsessed with questions about age and mental acuity in the realm of politics. That was before President Biden stepped aside and passed the torch to Vice-President Kamala Harris, who has taken the nation by storm. Prior to that, the press was consumed with anxieties over the fitness of an aspiring candidate’s competence to fulfill the responsibilities of the job.

Donald Trump, Immigrant, Child

However, something significant seems to have changed now that Donald Trump is the only 80ish candidate in the race who is showing clear signs of cognitive decline. For some reason the press only regarded that as a problem when Biden was running. Now they are content to ignore the obvious inability of Trump to maintain a stable relationship with reality.

On Thursday Trump gave a speech before the Economic Club of New York. The substance of his remarks was identical to his cult rallies that are filled with flagrant lies, infantile insults, and slobbering and undeserved exaltations of himself. Perhaps the only difference with this address is that Trump appeared to be nearly catatonic as he slurred his way through his robo-talking points.

At one point Trump was asked a question that ought to have been an easy one for someone so practiced in weaving and dodging to avoid revealing his ignorance. But Trump’s reply was spectacularly incomprehensible. What follows is the entire transcript. And I dare anyone to make any sense of it. The question was: “If you win in November, can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care affordable? And if so, What specific piece of legislation will you advance?” And Trump replied (good luck getting through it)…

“Well, I would do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Sen. Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that, because the child care is child care. It’s something, you have to have it in this country. You have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not use to, but they’ll get use to it very quickly.

“And it’s not gonna stop them from doing business with us. But they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers we’re talking about, including child care. We’re gonna have, I look forward to having no deficits within a very short period of time. Coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care. I want to stay with child care.

“But those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers I’m talking about, including growth. Growth also headed up by what the plan is I just, that I just told you about. We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care is talked about as being expensive, it’s relatively speaking not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in.

“We’re gonna make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people, but we’re gonna take care of our country first. This isn’t about America first. It’s about make America great again. And we have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation. So we’ll take care of it. Thank you.”

Well, that clears that up, doesn’t it? Now we know whether Trump will “commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care affordable? And if so, What specific piece of legislation [he will] advance.” We can add this to what his running mate, JD Vance, has said about “childless cat ladies” and other anti-Americans who refuse, or are unable, to procreate for the Fatherland. And we can expect the media to inform the public about this detailed policy statement, on such an important matter, by the GOP candidate for president. Right? RIGHT???
