Trump Desperately Clings to Wildly Adoring Polls, Doesn’t Mention They Only Polled His Supporters

The raging egomania of Donald Trump is often revealed in his pitifully deranged behavior. He has a habit of declaring that everything he does or says surpasses the meager activities of mere mortals “on a level that has never been seen before.” It’s remarkable how one person can be so extraordinarily superior to everyone else on the planet so consistently.

Trump’s messianic view of himself comes across to most people as severely psychotic. But his glassy-eyed cult disciples embrace him as a manifestation of the divine. They are bound to accept his every pronouncement as gospel, and his every decree as holy. That’s the nature of a cult. And Trump is their Dear Leader who closely monitors their devotion to insure their unflinching loyalty.

To that end, Trump repeatedly misleads his cult followers by trying to convince them that he is universally adored. Nothing could be farther from the truth. His approval ratings are so deeply underwater that even Fox News can’t ignore it. So Trump resorts to collecting blatantly biased polls and presenting them as credible.

On Tuesday Trump posted three such polls on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social. The polls were conducted by the notoriously partisan McLaughlin & Associates. The results of these surveys say that Trump’s use of tariffs are approved by 91% of the survey’s respondents. Also, Trump’s decision to use military force in Iran is approved by 89%. Also, Trump arresting Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro is approved by 92%. On every one of those issues credible polls show Trump with overwhelmingly negative numbers.

In none of Trump’s posts did he bother to mention that the polls he posted were all taken at the recent CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) conference. CPAC is a convention of far right Republicans that featured guest speakers like Steve Bannon, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, ICE Director Tom Homan, Matt Gaetz, FCC Chair Brendan Carr, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Mike Lindell, and, well you get the idea. It’s a convention of Trump-fluffers, by Trump-fluffers, for Trump-fluffers.

Some other results of the CPAC poll include Trump’s overall approval at 96%. And 94% say that Trump is “the best President in my lifetime.” Most of the more credible pollsters have Trump’s approval in record low territory that dips below 40%.

Trump, however, wants his cult devotees to believe that they are part of a massive contingent of patriots who want to make American great again, when they are actually a pathetic klan of kooks and crybabies who just want to blame their problems on minorities, immigrants, and the liberals who actually do make America great. So to rope in his MAGA-tists, Trump openly lies about his support. And this instance with the CPAC polls isn’t the first time. Just 10 days ago…

For the record, What Trump is lying about isn’t even a CNN poll. It’s an NBC poll that CNN reported on. And it surveyed only MAGA supporters. The small print in CNN’s graphic even notes that non-MAGA Republicans only support Trump 66-31%. So a third of his party doesn’t approve of him.

This is a desperation play by Trump. He knows that he is widely despised and that his MAGA GOP comrades in Congress are about to lose their majority status to Democrats. That will put Trump in the uncomfortable position of being vulnerable to honest and competent oversight for a change. And honesty and competence are two things that Trump is totally unfamiliar with, and intensely afraid of. The White House is going to have to stock up on ketchup bottles and other throwing items between now and November.

One is the “little excursion” that Donald Trump embarked upon against Iran on phony allegations of nuclear capabilities, and without getting authorization from Congress, as required by law. Trump’s fear of Democrats assuming majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate is driving him to plot far more detailed strategies than anything he has done for the Iran conflict. Which isn’t a very high bar, because his plans for Iran are little more than bomb everything, declare victory, then bomb some more anyway. But his fellow Americans that he regards as the nation’s real enemies get much greater attention…

Trump is justified to be worried about Democrats gaining control of Congress. The list of his impeachable acts is growing by the day. And that isn’t even counting his criminal acts that violate state and federal laws, as well as the Constitution. And the prospect of Democratic victories across the country is as near a certainty as election predictions can get.

So what is Trump doing to defend himself from this approaching political massacre? He is resorting to his typically anti-American tactics of trying to rig elections and suppress turnout. Because he knows that campaigning on his broadly unpopular policies and abysmal record would only result in failure. Consequently, he is embarking on a path to steal the midterms by making it harder, or impossible, to vote. To that end he posted a comment on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social, advocating ways to undermine democracy.

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments on Birthright Citizenship, Trump thinks calling them "STUPID" will secure their votes.He also criticizes selling American citizenship, which is a policy that he introduced with his $5 million Trump Gold Card.

Trump’s comment outlines some of his favorite methods of interfering with elections. such as attacking the principle of “Birthright Citizenship” that is enshrined in the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. The amendment explicitly grants citizenship to “All persons born or naturalized in the United States.” Trump would love to invalidate all of those voters. And he is hoping that the conservative majority on the Supreme court will help him to achieve that goal. However, Trump’s strategy to get the Court to rule in his favor is, to say the least, unique. He wrote that…

“Birthright Citizenship is not about rich people from China, and the rest of the World, who want their children, and hundreds of thousands more, FOR PAY, to ridiculously become citizens of the United States of America. It is about the BABIES OF SLAVES! We are the only Country in the World that dignifies this subject with even discussion. Look at the dates of this long ago legislation – THE EXACT END OF THE CIVIL WAR! The World is getting rich selling citizenships to our Country, while at the same time laughing at how STUPID our U.S. Court System has become (TARIFFS!). ‘Dumb Judges and Justices will not a great Country make!'”

What a brilliant move by the alleged master deal maker. Insult all of the Justices – six of whom are conservative, including three that he appointed – as too dumb to make correct decisions. And he referenced the recent ruling that declared his inflationary tariffs unconstitutional. Does Trump think that insulting the Justices will secure their votes in his favor?

What’s more, Trump also blasted the notion of paying for citizenship. Which is peculiar because that’s actually a policy that he introduced with an executive order creating his “Trump Gold Card.” For a mere $5 million dollars, anyone can buy American citizenship, including drug traffickers, fraudulent business people, and foreign spies.

Insulting and threatening people as a means of getting them to support him is nothing new for Trump. He did the same thing recently while trying to get his so-called “Save America Act” (aka Voter Suppression Act) passed in Congress. He threatened his own Republicans saying that “I WILL NEVER (EVER!) ENDORSE ANYONE WHO VOTES AGAINST ‘SAVE AMERICA!!!” And he insulted members of both parties over the same issue.

That ought to do it. Who wouldn’t want to vote with Trump after that highly effective method of persuasion? Especially considering how popular he is with the American people right now.

Trump initially claimed that his latest war would be short-lived and won without effort in a matter of hours. That has turned out to be just another steaming pile of bullpucky intended to pacify his glassy-eyed cult followers who feel betrayed, as well as his MAGA friendly media propagandists. With his approval ratings in the toilet, Trump is desperate to shift blame for his fiascoes onto those he thinks are the real enemies.

Now that Trump’s lies about Iran have become impossible to dismiss, his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is joining the battle to rescue his floundering presidency. They are embarking on a campaign to emotionally prepare the nation for another disastrous war. And leading the way is the execrable Mark Levin, a weekend host who takes a backseat to no one on his Trump-fluffing prowess.

This weekend Levin doled out some military advice to Trump on his program that we know Trump watches religiously. In fact, Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, yesterday imploring his disciples to watch this particular program. It should be noted that Levin has never served in the military, so his ideas about military matters are just as useless as Trump’s. In his tediously long monologue, Levin yammered that…

“Troops on the ground. He said ‘No troops on the ground.’ I don’t remember that in any campaign speech either. Why would we need to troops on the ground? Well, there’s a lot of reasons. And we wouldn’t need 300,000 of them. It’s this uranium too. We’ve gotta get the uranium. If it cannot be destroyed, if it cannot be altered, we gotta get it. For the reason I just said. You can make dirty bombs and, over time you can still make sophisticated missiles. So you need to get to the uranium.

Levin’s claim that he doesn’t remember Trump promising not send send troops into foreign wars is either another flagrant lie, or evidence of acute cognitive impairment. It was a core feature of Trump’s campaign stump speeches. But in the Trump Cult everything can be the opposite of whatever it was before just by Trump saying so. For example, his promise to lower prices on day one; or swearing to offer a healthcare plan in two weeks; or pledging to release the Epstein files.

Levin went on to say that Trump isn’t “talking about sending the regular Army and infantry in by the hundreds of thousands.” Really? So he’s going to send in small units of specialized forces to capture hundreds of pounds of uranium and transport it securely out of the country, while battling Iranian troops? Sure. It’s a piece of (yellow) cake. And it surely wouldn’t risk contamination of populated areas in Iran or the U.S., if that were its destination.

That’s the ridiculous plan that Levin says is being proffered by Trump, who Levin also says is “a man with enormous intelligence, enormous common sense. He’s not an ideologue. He doesn’t run around with slogans.” Trump isn’t an ideologue? Seriously? And as for “running with slogans,” does “Make America great again,” or “drill, baby, drill,” or “lock her up,” or “fake news,” ring a bell?

The brazen dishonesty of Trump’s delusional public comments about the war can’t possibly help the mission, whatever that is. Trump simultaneously declares that the war was won in the first hour a month ago, but that he is still actively fighting it anyway. He’s putting Americans in harm’s way and seeking $200 billion in additional funding for an illegal war that the GOP led Congress hasn’t even been asked to debate or approve.

Despite failing to articulate a coherent objective or exit strategy, Trump flips back and forth between making wild threats of genocidal destruction, while also claiming to be in constructive peace talks. Never mind that every claim that Trump has made about negotiating with Iran has been denied by Iran.

In the meantime, Trump has been telegraphing his intention to deploy American troops on the ground in Iran. Which is a thoroughly boneheaded strategy that allows enemy forces to prepare for the invasion and inflict greater harm on U.S. soldiers. And Iran is talking full advantage of it. Their Parliament Speaker explicitly addressed it saying that Iran is “waiting for American soldiers to enter on the ground so they can set them ablaze and punish their regional partners forever.”

Levin is likely just the point man in the Fox News plot to reinforce Trump’s Iranian initiative. And he’s making it clear that the plan is to simply say that troops on the ground is a great idea that, contrary to contradicting everything Trump has said previously, he has actually been planning this all along. And somehow his devoted minions will recall these things precisely as Trump and Levin are saying them now. That’s the nature of a cult.

Trump’s agenda of imposing unlawful and inflationary tariffs that increased the cost of everything from groceries, to gasoline, to housing, to healthcare, and more, were just the beginning of his assault on the American people. He followed that up with deployments of his ICE StormTrumpers in U.S. cities. Then he decided to wage an unprovoked and illegal war against Iran. And all the while disgorging virulent hate speech intended to divide the American people.

The first year of Trump’s second term could not have been more politically crippling if he had devised it deliberately to destroy the GOP. His approval ratings have broken through the basement floor and are heading toward the Earth’s burning core. And this isn’t the opinion of what he calls the “radical left lunatics” in the mainstream media. Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, just a released a poll that found him floundering.

Fox published their results in an article declaring that “Sour voters say Washington is out of touch.” That headline actually bails Trump out by suggesting that it it isn’t his fault that everything sucks. It’s those “sour” voters. But the rest of the article wasn’t as gentle.

The article began by noting that “Voters are not only dissatisfied with the direction of the country but also pessimistic about the economic outlook.” The poll found that “Nearly two-thirds, 64%, are dissatisfied [and] that’s the highest dissatisfaction rating of President Trump’s second term.” Then the article elaborated saying that…

“His worst numbers are on inflation, with a new low of 28% approving […] His 34% approval for the economy is another new low, down 6 points since January and 9 points from a year ago. Other ratings are also well underwater: healthcare (36% approve, 64% disapprove), Iran (36-64), taxes (36-64), foreign policy (38-62), and immigration (44-56).”

Trump is unlikely to be able to improve on any of that between now and the midterm elections in November. One important reason for that is that he isn’t even trying to. To the contrary, he is doubling down on his widely opposed domestic policies by insisting that everything is the best it’s ever been in the history of mankind. And he’s celebrating his war in Iran as a “little excursion” that he says he won in the first hour, three weeks ago. Which begs the question, why is he still fighting, and even escalating, with thousands of troops being deployed to the Middle East, and requests for $200 billion more in funding?

It’s tempting to muse that, with regard to Trump, “When you’ve lost Fox News…” But Trump has never been satisfied with the polling by Fox. He frequently goes on the network to whine about their polls that sometimes put him in a negative light. But Fox News remains his mass media mouthpiece. And polls like these will rarely turn up on the primetime shows that Trump watches. So most of his cult followers will never see these numbers. However, here’s an example that snuck through during a daytime program…

Fox News may be accepting the reality that Trump is a mentally impaired loser whose star is fading. More likely, they realize that their audience is already aware of how dismal their lives are without Fox or Trump trying to persuade them that they are prosperous and happy. In any event, expect Trump to chastise Fox for having the audacity to post these poll results. He will surely regard it as an act of betrayal, and he might even sic his FCC boss on them with impotent threats of revoking their licenses (that don’t exist).

It is their constitutional duty to conduct the nation’s business on behalf of every citizen. The president is not elected to be the leader of one political party.

Unfortunately, among the traditions that Donald Trump has abandoned is the one that promotes the unity of service that has always been the province of the occupant of the White House. Service, however, is a principle that is foreign to Trump, a malignant narcissist with authoritarian aspirations. Consequently, in order to elevate himself above the majority of the American people, he fiercely denigrates those who he considers to be his political foes.

With a war raging against Iran, and military assaults on peaceful protesters at home by ICE thugs, and the domestic economy burdening Americans with skyrocketing costs for everything from groceries, to gasoline, to housing to healthcare, Trump carved out some of his precious “executive time” – ordinarily reserved for golfing, designing ballrooms, and watching Fox News – to post a flurry of comments on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social.

This particular batch of social bitchcraft was focused on those that he regards as “the greatest enemy America has.” And he isn’t talking about his current adversaries in Iran, or America’s longtime nemeses Russia and China. Or even our European allies that Trump has downgraded to virulently hostile. Nope. It’s America’s own Democratic Party and the millions of people who are members of it. What follows are a few of Trump’s hateful harangues with relevant annotations.

“Blame the Democrats for the Airport’s mess. They want our Country to do badly. They want our Country to fail. They broke the already signed Bill.”
For the record, it is Trump and the Republicans who have repeatedly refused to fund TSA and other Homeland Security agencies by voting against legislation offered by Democrats. And the “already signed bill” to which he is referring is his so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” that isn’t broken at all. It’s just bad policy because the GOP can’t govern competently.

“The Democrats don’t want to make any deal unless Amnesty and Citizenship is given to millions of Criminals who have entered our Country illegally, many of whom have been convicted of serious crimes.”
Actually, it is Trump who has literally refused to deal with Democrats, saying that “I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats.” And he is making up the preposterous charge that Democrats want amnesty and citizenship for “million of Criminals. Meanwhile, it is Trump himself who has been “convicted of serious crimes” (34 felonies).

“The Radical Left, Country Hating Democrats are trying to create inner chaos to take away from the great military achievement we are having in Iran. They hate seeing us WIN so completely and decisively, but the American public sees what is going on.”
Trump doesn’t need any help from Democrats to “create inner chaos.” That’s his specialty. However, he’s right that “the American public sees what is going on.” Recent polls show that big majorities of the public disapprove of Trump’s war in Iran.

Trump’s vicious animosity toward fellow Americans who happen to disagree with him is an abhorrent diversion from how decent presidents throughout history have behaved. His hatred is directed squarely at patriotic citizens who have the right to their own opinions. And in this case those opinions are shared by most other American citizens. No president who has this much loathing for the people he is supposed to be serving should be tolerated. In the meantime, least we can say that the feeling is mutual…

Trump Says He’s Dealing with Terrorists in Iran, But Refuses to Deal with Democrats in America

The war against Iran that Donald Trump said he won three weeks ago is still raging on. The Strait of Hormuz remains shutdown. Both sides are continuing to launch bombing raids. Trump is still seeking $200 billion more in Pentagon funding. Gas and oil prices are still rising. 2,400 Marines were just to deployed to the Middle East. And all for a war for which Trump has already declared victory.

Trump’s justification for continuing to fight has run the gamut from his lust for a genocidal solution, to his sociopathic desire to just have fun slaughtering people. He couldn’t care less about the welfare of American troops or Iranian civilians. Or for that matter, Americans here at home…

Trump recently pledged that he would escalate his bombing of Iran if they didn’t open up the Strait of Hormuz within 24 hours. But he is already backing off of that pledge with an announcement that he is engaging with Iran to formulate a peace agreement. He posted the following comment on his dedicated, for-profit propaganda platform, Truth Social, Monday morning…

“I AM PLEASE TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST.”

Trump offered no evidence of any actual discussions, or with whom they would be held, since he previously claimed to have killed all of their leaders. And Iran is denying that any discussions have taken place. As reported by The Hill…

“A senior Iranian security official on Monday said Tehran is not in talks with President Trump adding that Trump ‘backed down’ from further attacks on energy infrastructure due to pressure from the markets and allies.”

It’s difficult to decide who trust in this situation. Iran is not a particularly reliable source of information. But Trump is arguably even worse. Trump’s claim that he is having “VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS” comes in stark contrast to his prior statements regarding negotiations with his fellow Americans in Congress. While he is bragging that he is dealing with the terrorist regime in Iran, he is simultaneously refusing to deal with Democrats here at home…

“I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.’ It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate.”

Trump isn’t making any secret of whose side he is on. And it clearly isn’t the side of America or its people. He actually trusts Iran as a negotiating partner more. And he is happy to deal with the leaders of the country he is at war with, but not the leaders of his domestic political opposition that he maligns as “Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats.”

What’s more, Trump’s problem with Democrats is that they won’t agree to his “Voter Suppression Act,” that he has prioritized above everything else, including the war in Iran and the skyrocketing cost of living in the U.S. He is terrified of the likelihood that American voters are going to strip his MAGA Republicans from their congressional majorities in November, and that Democrats will hold him accountable for his crimes.

To Trump that means that Democrats are the real enemy to America. No, really. He literally said so yesterday…

Trump just literally declared WAR on at least half of the American people.Does he plan to start bombing Democrats? He's already trying to obstruct them from voting. Because he is TERRIFIED and knows that Democrats will hold him accountable for his crimes when they assume power.

This scenario can seen at work in the remarks by Trump’s Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, on Sunday morning’s episode of Meet the Press. In a discussion about the recent passing of American hero and lifelong patriot, Robert Mueller, host Kristen Welker pressed Bessent on his reaction to a disgusting comment Trump made about Mueller’s death…

Welker: Trump from yesterday, responding to the death of Robert Mueller, he posted this, quote “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”

Do you think it’s appropriate for the president of the United States to celebrate the death of an American citizen? Someone who is a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient who served in Vietnam?
Bessent: [After rambling about the FBI lawfully searching for – and finding – classified materials at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort] Neither one of us can understand what has been done to the president and his family.
Welker: But to the question of the president’s post – I mean, Robert Mueller didn’t order that raid – Is it appropriate for the president to celebrate the death of any American citizen?
Bessent: Again, given what has been done to president Trump and his family, it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has been through.
Welker: So you don’t think there’s anything wrong with the post saying, “Good. Robert Mueller’s dead”?
Bessent: Again, I think that we should all have a little empathy for what has been done to him and his family.

Welker asked a simple question seeking to ascertain Bessents’s opinion as to whether it was appropriate for Trump to dance on the grave of someone that he regarded as political foe. But Bessent was unable to provide an honest answer. He entirely ignored the fact that Mueller was a decorated veteran who served his country honorably, and devoted decades to public service. Instead Bessent diverted to nonsense about the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago, that Mueller had nothing to do with.

Bessent preposterously claimed that “it is impossible…to understand what he [Trump] has been through,” and that that somehow justified his repulsive posthumous insult. And worse, Bessent declared that it is Trump who we all should feel sorry for at this time, rather than Mueller and his grieving family.

This is just plain sick. And it is further evidence of the severity of the cult indoctrination that is rampant in MAGA World. They can’t even express sympathy for a deceased American who spent a lifetime serving his country. Unlike Trump who took five phony deferments and got 34 felony convictions.

However, it’s typical of Trump who has nothing but animus toward patriots like Mueller. Trump has said similarly grotesque things about veterans such as senators John McCain and Mark Kelly. He has also insulted several generals who worked for him in his administration, including John Kelly, Jim Mattis, and Mark Milley.

As for disrespecting the dead, Trump said awful things following the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife. Reiner, while not a veteran, directed the military themed movie “A Few Good Men,” and was an advocate for veterans benefits, as well as other issues related to civil rights and democracy. But Trump maligned him as having been killed “due to the anger he caused others through his..TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

This is all further evidence of the diseased mind of Trump – or what’s left of it. He is filled with rage and hatred. And he is incapable of common decency. And yet, his flunkies still seem to think that he is the one deserving of sympathy. Poor baby Trump has suffered so much by enriching himself at the expense of the American people, while viciously attacking his perceived enemies, and even legally persecuting them.

Consequently, no one is likely to be surprised by Trump’s contemptuous incivility. And therefore, no one should be surprised by the incivility directed at him when he finally descends into hell.

SRSLY? Trump Threatens Democrats With ICE Thugs in Airports to Coerce Passage of DHS Funding

For the third time since Donald Trump returned to his vengeance and ego driven occupation of the White House, the nation is mired in a government shutdown orchestrated by Trump and his MAGA Republicans in Congress. And it only took a little over one year to match or exceed the record for duration of a shutdown – twice.

No rational observers are falling for the GOP spin that Democrats are responsible for the shutdown. Republicans control both houses of Congress and the White House. If they were interested – or competent – they could have easily negotiated agreements that avoided the shutdowns, but they preferred to hold the American people hostage, forcing them to suffer skyrocketing health insurance costs, and tolerating violent tactics by Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement thugs (ICE). They never really wanted to avoid the shutdowns…

The burning issue that Trump and the GOP are fixated on this time around is the passage of funding for ICE in a Homeland Security appropriations bill. Trump and his MAGA toadies refuse to consider common sense proposals to reign in the brutality of his untrained and unqualified ICE agents. They would rather cripple government services that Americans rely on, and force federal employees to miss work or go without pay. And on Saturday morning Trump weighed in with a crackpot comment posted on his dedicated propaganda platform, Truth Social, saying that…

“If the Radical Left Democrats don’t immediately sign an agreement to let our Country, in particular, our Airports, be FREE and SAFE again, I will move our brilliant and patriotic ICE Agents to the Airports where they will do Security like no one has ever seen before.”

REALLY? Trump is effectively admitting that the tactics employed by his ICE StormTrumpers are so hostile and dangerous that they are useful as threats to coerce Democrats to obey his authority. But it’s not an especially wise position to take for an agency that already has broad disapproval ratings. Does he think that the American people want to be screened for travel by the same masked thugs who murdered Renee Good and Alex Pretti?

What’s more, Trump is regurgitating the right-wing talking points that accuse Democrats of being responsible for the disruptions at airports due to the Republican shutdown. In reality, it is Democrats who have offered proposals to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as well as FEMA, the Coast Guard, and other Homeland Security functions. But Republicans have voted against those proposals – five times so far.

Trump’s comment also suggested that ICE agents at the airport would be able to make the “immediate arrest of all Illegal Immigrants” Does he think that immigrants are coming in illegally by plane, where there are already checkpoints screening foreign passengers? And in a ridiculous and racist aside he specifies that there will be a “heavy emphasis on those from Somalia.”

Trump’s brazen bullying and threats are unlikely to achieve his goal of convincing Democrats to pass the DHS funding bill without reforms. The “art-of-the-dealer” is proving how pitiful his negotiating skills actually are. He can’t even get all of his Republicans in the Senate to sign on. But this new threat sinks to ever lower depths of depravity. If anything, it will result in an even worse defeat in Congress.

Wannabe Dictator Trump Signs Executive Order Mandating Army-Navy Football Game Schedules On TV

The state of the union under Donald Trump today is decidedly stressful and suffering greatly from both the flaming ignorance and deliberate malfeasance of Trump and his MAGA regime. There is an ongoing, deadly war raging in Iran, rising inflation and costs of living here at home, Trump’s ICE thugs terrorizing American citizens, and cover ups of grotesque crimes related to Trump’s unsavory relationship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Yet somehow Trump manages to stay laser focused on the issues that matter most to the American people: Golden ballrooms, UFC fights at the White House, battling ugly windmills, voter suppression legislation, and when all else fails, bashing the free press and trying to undermine the Constitution.

On Friday morning Trump held a ceremony at the White House to present the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy to the Navy football team for beating Army during their 2025 game. But true to form, Trump was unable to focus his attention on the matter at hand. He wandered around aimlessly whining about men in women’s sports, his alleged success in Iran, and how awesome he is at everything he ever does.

As part of the ceremony, Trump diverted from the honor that was supposed to be bestowed on the Naval Academy’s athletes, to put himself at the center of attention again. He announced that he was signing an Executive Order to dictate to the college football associations, and the television networks, what they should be allowed to do with regard to scheduling games and their broadcast times.

As usual, Trump was undeterred by the fact that he has no authority to interfere in those private enterprises. He even admitted as much saying that “I have much more power in my second term,” and acknowledging that he is likely going to be sued over this power play. He told those at the gathering that…

“I’m going to sign an executive order to ensure that the second Saturday in December, is preserved exclusively – nobody is playing football. […] If you don’t want to watch football, you don’t have to. But if you want to watch football, you are only watching one game.”

Trump might as well have continued “Do you hear that, you peasants. You’ll watch what I watch and do what I say at all times. Free enterprise is a thing of the past that only stupid and weak presidents adhere to.” And with that, Trump unveiled his completely unconstitutional Executive Order that mandated that “By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered [that]…

Section 1. Purpose. It is the policy of the United States that no college football game, specifically college football’s CFP or other postseason games, be broadcast in a manner that directly conflicts with the Army-Navy Game.
[No president has the authority to mandate a policy that dictates the scheduling of college football games or their broadcasts on television. And the Army-Navy game is no exception.]

Sec. 2. Implementation. (a) The Secretary of Commerce and the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) shall coordinate with the CFP Committee, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, related organizations, other appropriate Government agencies, and the playoffs’ broadcast and media rights partners with the goal of establishing an exclusive window for the Army-Navy Game, during which no other college football game is broadcast.
[The Commerce Secretary and FCC Chairman are not empowered to negotiate broadcast and media rights or to establish exclusive windows for the the Army-Navy Game, or any other games.]

(b) The Chairman of the FCC shall consider reviewing the public interest obligations of broadcast licensees to determine whether those obligations would require that the Army-Navy Game remain a national service event.
[This clause was included as a threat to the television networks that any disobedience could result in the revocation of their broadcast licenses for alleged failure to act in the public interest. Never mind that football games cannot reasonably be considered matters of public interest in this legal context.]

All of this is just another attempt on Trump’s part to interfere with the business of the media and quash freedom of the press. He is putting himself above the principles of the Constitution and pretending that it is all some sort of play for patriotism. Note that the players in the Army-Navy games are not active-duty enlisted soldiers. They are students in the military academies. And thus, for the purposes of these games, they are no different than the students in other sports programs at other colleges.

So why should they get special treatment? Because Trump demands it. And he thinks that he’s making a statement of support for the troops. Remember, those are the troops that he has called “suckers” and “losers,” and whose lives he is putting at risk for no discernible reason in Iran. But what matter is that to a five-time draft dodger like him? And you won’t see his son, Barron, enlisting for this supposedly noble cause either.

Pete Hegseth Grasps at Fantasy that Americans Back Trump’s Iran War, While Attacking the Media

There is an old adage among lawyers that says, “If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table.” Now we can add the Trump corollary to that which would end with “if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the media.”

Actually, in Trump’s world he would probably say to pound the media even if you have the facts and the law on your side. Pounding the media is the first response to virtually every dilemma that Trump or his toadies face. He is so entirely incapable of forming a coherent thought that attacking the press is just easier and, for him, more personally satisfying.

Naturally, Trump’s Cabinet follows the same unprincipled path of anti-constitutional dismissal of the free press. His Minister of War Crimes, Pete Hegseth, held a press harangue on Thursday morning to rant about (and at) the media for their audacity in covering Trump’s war against Iran accurately. Hegseth looked directly into the assembled cameras, pointing his finger at them, and bellowed that…

“I stand here today speaking to you, the American people. Not through filters. Not through reporters. Not through cable news spin. A dishonest and anti-Trump press will stop at nothing to downplay progress, amplify every cost, and call into question every step. Sadly, TDS is in their DNA. They want president Trump to fail. But you, the American people, know better.”

First of all, Hegseth’s insistence that he wasn’t speaking through reporters is downright hysterical considering that he was literally speaking through reporters. Well, at least a few among the MAGA-friendly hacks that he allows into the press room. Or did he think that the American people were all in the room with him?

What’s more, Hegseth’s whining that the media would “call into question every step” that the administration takes is a pathetic complaint that just reveals his ignorance of the fact that it is the media’s job to question any administration. Or does he think that the press should be blind sycophants who adore everything Dear Leader does and says? (You don’t have to answer that).

It was, however, generous of Hegseth to leave it up to the American people to decide for themselves what they think about Trump’s “little excursion” into Iran that has already cost 13 American lives, more than 1,400 Iranians, and cost over $12 billion dollars. On top of that, Trump is now asking for $200 billion more. For what he doesn’t actually say.

The American people have made their disapproval of all of that well known in numerous polls, with big majorities opposing the action. Furthermore, another survey shows that Trump’s handling of the war is also a disaster, with his approval on Iran at a dismal 36%, and disapproval at 56%. In the same survey his personal approval hits a new low at only 35%.

Not to worry though. Trump is buoyed by the glassy-eyed adoration of his cult following MAGA minions. A poll of their support for Trump came in at an astoundingly high 100%. Never mind that the MAGA mob makes up a paltry 27% of American voters. And their hive-minded uniformity affirms that MAGA is hopelessly brainwashed. In fact, IT’S A CULT! And it is that groveling gaggle that Hegseth is actually speaking to through the media that he and Trump despise.
