Despondent Fox News Host is ‘Pissed’ About Election Losses and Blames Everyone But Trump

Leave it to Fox News to thoroughly fail to learn the obvious lessons of one of the most pitifully catastrophic election cycles the Republican Party has ever suffered. The anguish on the faces of their hosts, and exclusively right-wing guests, tells a story of a willfully blind confederacy of crackpots.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

On Tuesday the final Senate election for the 2022 midterms resulted in another victory for Democrats as Sen. Raphael Warnock defeated Donald Trump’s hand-picked GOP nominee, Herschel Walker. The race was called by Fox News during Laura Ingraham’s program, and she didn’t bother to conceal her searing dismay. In a fit of fury she ranted that…

“We felt this coming. To me, it never felt like the Senate Republicans wanted this guy in office. He was a Trump pick. They didn’t like that. They probably liked Herschel as a person, but there wasn’t the intensity on the part of the Republicans as there was on the part of Democrats. I felt it, you felt it, but we don’t change anything. We have the same people in place in leadership. The same people in place, apparently, at the RNC. Perhaps that’s not changing. We just keep doing the same thing over and over again. I’m pissed tonight, frankly. I’m mad.”

WHUT? For weeks Ingraham and everyone else at Fox News predicted that Walker would easily beat Warnock. They hosted his surrogates (Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, etc.) every other day. They maligned Warnock and Democrats as losers. They held multiple “town halls” giving Walker millions of dollars worth of free airtime. Tucker Carlson even had the audacity to whine about that…

While Ingraham mentioned obliquely that Walker was “a Trump pick,” she deftly avoided assigning any blame to Trump for having pushed such a pathetically unqualified stooge to challenge Warnock, an inspiring and articulate incumbent. She never acknowledged that Walker’s only assets as a candidate were his fawning adoration of Trump, and his race, because Republicans believed that Black Georgians were shallow enough to vote for a retired football player, even though he couldn’t complete a coherent sentence.

According to Ingraham, the fault lies with the GOP establishment who have presided over at least three losing election cycles. She’s actually right about that. If Republicans were smart (a far-fetched assumption), they would oust the entire GOP operation. However, they still wouldn’t advance their future electoral prospects unless they recognize that the Republican Party has been subservient to their Dear Leader Trump. He is the root of their problems. But they are to chickenshit to admit it, or doing anything about it.

Ingraham’s guests were just as deluded. Federalist editor, Molly Hemingway, noted that Walker’s loss was “really offensive for Republican voters [who] just see kind of failure across the board.” Former Trump White House counselor, Kellyanne Conway praised Walker as “one of the most improved candidates.” Seriously?

Elsewhere on Fox News, Sean Hannity babbled “I think Republicans have been unwilling, for whatever reason – reluctant, resistant – to voting early and voting by mail.” Gee, could the reason have anything to do with Trump’s relentless bashing of mail and early voting as corrupt and riddled with fraud? And Marjorie Taylor Greene insisted that “This is Mitch McConnell’s fault. This is Lindsey Graham’s fault. I’m not blaming Herschel Walker. I’m blaming the campaign team.”

Meanwhile, Trump himself weighed in shortly after the race was called with his customary incisive and thought-provoking commentary. On his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump calmly observed in all caps that “OUR COUNTRY IS IN BIG TROUBLE. WHAT A MESS!” That’s coming from the guy who is most responsible for the losses of nearly every major, contested race this cycle for Senate and governor. Yet he still gets a pass from Fox News.

Herschel Walker Challenges Joy Reid to a Debate – But is Silent After She Accepts

The 2022 midterm elections brought much for Democrats to be thankful for. Despite predictions of severe losses in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, Democrats managed to keep their majority in the Senate and hold Republicans to the slimmest of leads in the House.

Joy Reid, MSNBC

One contest in the Senate remains outstanding. While the the incumbent Democratic senator from Georgia, Raphael Warnock, received more votes than his Republican opponent, Herschel Walker, Georgia law mandates a runoff if no candidate gets more than fifty percent. That runoff is scheduled for December 6th.

In the meantime, Walker is sparing no effort to humiliate himself with public appearances wherein he rambles incoherently about vampires, 1970’s television, and pregnant cows. Even his surrogates are having a hard time coming up with rational reasons to vote for him…

This week Walker visited with ultra-rightist Trump-fluffer, Charlie Kirk. It was a typically vapid interview that offered nothing of substance to Kirk’s audience of already committed Republican cultists. However, there was one moment that provided a little comic relief. Walker, a notoriously inarticulate and pitifully ill-informed former footballer, challenged MSNBC host and Harvard grad, Joy Reid, to a debate “any day of the week … on any subject.” What follows is Walker’s challenge and Reid’s response…

Walker: I’d love to debate Joy Reid. You know, Senator Warnock, he’s a slick talking, smooth dressing guy, but in that debate I took him to school because he found out a lot of things he didn’t know. And I can do the same thing with Joy Reid any time of the day.

I think people sit on TV and they talk. It’s easy to talk. But I’ve been a man that have worked my whole life. I built companies. I’ve signed the front of a paycheck. They’ve never done any of that. They don’t know how to do it. I do. And I say any day of the week she want to debate she can show up here and I’ll debate her as well on any subject. She can come up with the subject, and let’s go at it.”

Reid: “Okay, Herschel, come on. It aint but a short walk. We will have you on the ReidOut any day. No, seriously. We reached out to your team. We will have you on the ReidOut any day. And we can debate. Just tell us when.

But I do want to make one thing clear, Herschel. You can’t bring your friends. You see your little friends there? You can’t bring them. You have to do this debate on your own. So come on. The doors to the church are open, like the pastor says.”

Walker has yet to accept Reid’s open offer to debate him. He hasn’t mentioned it at all. So he’s actually proving his point that “It’s easy to talk” on friendly TV programs. But he’s apparently too scared to face Reid for a debate that he insisted he would “love [to do] any day of the week.”

That’s too bad, because It would be an entertaining hour of political television that would put Walker’s unintentional comedic skills on display. Hopefully he will reply soon and set a date for this must see political showdown. Anything would be better than the Fox News donations of its airtime to GOP candidates like Walker.

Newt Gingrich on Fox News: Vote For Herschel Walker, a Christian Zealot Who’s Had Many Concussions

With five weeks left until the 2022 midterm election, Republicans are turning up the heat on their repugnant campaign rhetoric. They know they are burdened with a roster of embarrassing candidates who represent the fringiest wing of the Trump GOP. And yet, they are standing behind them because they have a complete dearth of principles in their quest for power.

Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump

Topping the list of wingnuts is the GOP’s candidate for Senate in Georgia, Herschel Walker. From the start of his campaign he has proved to be utterly incapable of articulating a coherent policy. Even worse, he has been brazenly dishonest about his past. He’s lied about his education, his work with law enforcement, and his family. The only thing he’s gotten right is that he used to play football. Which is not a relevant skill in preparation for a seat in the Senate.

Walker’s response to the many scandals that have erupted in his campaign usually hinges on his devotion to his faith. It’s an argument that he somehow thinks absolves him of any responsibility for his adultery, his threatening to kill his wife and kids, his absentee fatherhood of four children with four different women, and his shameless lying about all of that and more.

On Tuesday’s episode of Sean Hannity’s program on Fox News, Newt Gingrich was invited to make excuses for Walker’s wrongdoings. And it was just the sort of spectacular mess that Gingrich is known for.

Gingrich told Hannity that…

“I’ve known Herschel a good while. I have known Herschel well. I think he’s a remarkable person. I think he’s the most important Senate candidate in the country because he will do more to change the Senate just by the sheer presence, by his confidence, by his deep commitment to Christ. You know he’s been through a long tough period. He had a lot of concussions coming out of football. He suffered PTSD.”.

Really? That’s rather bizarre endorsement. Gingrich is beseeching Fox News viewers to vote for Walker because he’s allegedly a devout Christian who has suffered numerous brain injuries. The latter may actually explain how Walker can claim to be so pious despite having a past filled with unrepentant sin.

What’s more, if it’s faith in Christ that Fox News viewers are looking for, Walker’s Democratic opponent, Raphael Warnock, is actually a Christian pastor. Although, unlike Walker, he doesn’t wear his faith as a shield for wrongdoing. Nor does he impose it on anyone else. Nor does he exploit it in political ads like Walker is doing…

Walker does, however, meet the criteria for Republican politicians in the era of Donald Trump. Both have abused women. Both have embellished their resumes. Both exploit religion for votes. Both have obvious mental deficiencies. And both have no problem lying about everything.

No wonder Gingrich considers Walker and Trump to be the most important candidates in the country. And he will likely get some agreement from the Fox News audience he’s preaching to. But hopefully the broader American electorate will see though this nonsense and elect people whose qualifications aren’t limited to Christ and concussions. The last thing American needs is a pseudo-messiah leading a deranged cult.
